In the People Republic of China (PRC), ideological apparatuses, and censorship exert strong influence over Internet’ users experiences. Allegedly, the aim of the government is to manufacture (Foucauldian) “docile bodies.” This would explain why, in the last decades, en entire corpus of empirical research has been built around organizational citizenship behavior. Although the PRC has the right to determine its own domestic policies on the principle of (cybers-) sovereignty, a variety of NGOs, and other non-state actors, have criticized its growing restrictions on grassroot activisms, and bottom-up governance (Wright, 2006). Per contra, proponents of the status quo points to the benefits of security, and of stability. An argument that seems to be validated by the country’ extraordinary economic rise (Li, 1998).

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to determine the effect of identity strength and organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) on good university governance and its impact on performance of religious ideology-based universities. Design/methodology/approach The design of this study was an explanatory design. This study had a deductive theoretical direction; therefore, the core method was quantitative. The “import” strategy served as a complement to the main method. With the time horizon, the selection of research objects in religious ideology-based universities managed by foundations, where the funds management of universities are sourced from the people, is based on the consideration that at present, the identity strength that is inherent in a higher education is funded by the people, as well as OCB is reflected in the behavior of people in the organization so that it has an impact on good university governance and performance, as described in the background at the beginning of this paper. Findings The successful the OCB is, the successful the good university governance and performance will be. The successful the good university governance is, the successful the university performance will be. In the mediation effect testing, it was found that good university governance had a significant mediation effect on relationship between OCB and university performance. It shows that good university governance strengthens the relationship between OCB and university performance. Originality/value Originality in this study is testing the mediating effect of good university governance that collaborates with OCB and performance variables, which are carried out at religious ideology-based universities in Indonesia that have different characteristics from universities in other regions. Originality in this study is as follows: good university governance and performance have been studied in a lot of previous research, but in this study, the focus of research is on religious ideology-based higher educations, where it is known that religious ideology-based universities are full with ideological values that become brands, if ideological identity used as one of the formers of good university governance and performance, it is expected that the accountability and performance of higher education will be better.

In the communique issued in February 1972 after their meeting, President Nixon and Mr. Chou En-lai declared:The Chinese side reaffirmed its position:… the Government of the People's Republic of China is the sole legal Government of China; Taiwan is a province of China which has long been returned to the motherland; the liberation of Taiwan is China's internal affair in which no other country has the right to interfere; and all United States forces and military installations must be withdrawn from Taiwan. The Chinese Government firmly opposes any activities which aim at the creation of “one China, one Taiwan”, “one China, two governments”, “two Chinas” and “independent Taiwan”, or advocate that “the status of Taiwan remains to be determined”.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to study the effect of emotional quotient (EQ) on the organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) of some Iranian hospital staff in 2015. For this purpose, all hospital staff in Zahedan city were studied as the statistical population. Design/methodology/approach A randomized sampling method was used, and according to the Morgan Table, the statistical population was calculated as 346. This was a descriptive survey with a correlational and causative nature. Two questionnaires, namely, Bradbury and Graves’ Emotional Quotient and Podsakoff’s Organizational Citizenship Behavior, were used to collect the required information; they were distributed among the respondents after testing their validity and reliability. The people in the studied population were classified into classes that were homogeneous in terms of their properties. Findings The results of testing the hypotheses indicate that all the dimensions of EQ have a direct and significant effect on the emergence of OCB among the hospital staff in Zahedan. Finally, the results indicate the effect of EQ on OCB of the hospital staff. Practical implications Hospitals should consider emotional capabilities of the staff at the beginning of the employment period, and increase their sociability by inducting an atmosphere of organizational culture based on cooperation and empathy. It is suggested that a guideline of emotional eligibility and OCB be codified, which can influence job promotion and the promotion system. On specific occasions, hospital managers can honor the staff who have made positive and effective relationships in their career, and have achieved the satisfaction of their patients and colleagues by demonstrating extra-role behaviors. Thus, employees will be encouraged to continue this behavior and also provide a model to the staff. Through pre-service or in-service training classes and job seminars on the control of negative emotions and stresses while acquiring the skills of EQ, hospitals and other organizations can create OCB in the staff. As a result, visitor satisfaction would be gained, leading to better performance of hospitals. Originality/value It is suggested that a guideline of emotional eligibility and organizational citizenship behavior has to be codified which can affect the job promotion and promotion system. In specific occasions, the hospital managers can honor and pay tribute to the people who have made positive and effective relationships in their career, and have achieved the satisfaction of their patients and colleagues by showing extra-role behaviors.
