Childbirth and birth is a physiological process that must be experienced by a mother. Pain during labor is caused by the first stage of labor in which contractions cause dilation and thinning of the cervix and uterine ischemia due to contraction of the myometrial arteries. These contractions cause the opening of the cervix to begin labor. Various attempts are made to reduce labor pain, both pharmacologically and non-pharmacological. The non-pharmacological method applied is a distraction with birth balls. The research aims to prove the effectiveness of the use of birthing ball on the reduction of labor pain in the first stage of labor in the active phase. This study used an experimental research design with a pretest-posttest control group design. The research sample was 20 maternity mothers at the Lompoe Health Center, who received treatment and 20 people as control samples. It applied the purposive sampling technique. The instrument of observation was the pain scale using the Faces Pain Rating Scale. Data processing using the Wilcoxon-test to determine the effect of the treatment given. Based on the results of the bivariate analysis showed that the value of Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) is <0,001. Therefore,  the value of Sig<0,001 <value of α=0.05 which means that Ha was accepted. In conclusion, there is an influence of using the birthing ball to reduce the level of pain in the first stage of labor in the active mother.

The objective of this work was to study the agreement between four pain intensity scales when administered electronically: the Numerical Rating Scale-11, the Faces Pain Scale-Revised, the Visual Analogue Scale and the Coloured Analogue Scale. In all, 180 schoolchildren between 12 and 19 years old participated in the study. They had to report the maximum intensity of their most frequent pain using the electronic versions of the four scales. Agreement was calculated using the Bland–Altman method. Results show that the electronic versions of Numerical Rating Scale-11, Coloured Analogue Scale and Visual Analogue Scale can be used interchangeably.

Objective We evaluated the benefit of local anesthesia including tumescent anesthesia and active walking soon after surgery in preventing nerve injury and deep vein thrombosis caused during endovenous ablation. Methods Endovenous ablation was performed in 1334 consecutive patients. Varicectomy was performed using the stab avulsion technique. After surgery, patients were encouraged to walk 100–200 m inside the ward for 3–5 times/h. The pain was evaluated objectively using the Okamura pain scale and subjectively using the numerical rating scale. Results Stab avulsion was performed at 11.8 ± 8.0 sites and the mean operative time was 33.9 ± 15.2 min. The mean Okamura pain scale and numerical rating scale scores were 1.6 ± 1.3 and 3.0 ± 2.0, respectively. Deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism were absent. The incidence of nerve injury was 0.3%. Conclusions Endovenous ablation should be performed with the patients under local anesthesia to prevent nerve injury and deep vein thrombosis.

Back pain is the most widely recognised medical consultation in all the nations. It meddles with an individual’s satisfaction and general working. Back pain is a too fundamental issue that can extend from a dull, consistent pain to an unexpected, sharp pain that can leave individuals crippled. It can come on abruptly from a mishap, a fall, or lifting something extraordinary or it can grow gradually, maybe as the consequence of age-related changes to the Spine. Those instincts and behavioural patterns are now codified into Acharya technique for back pain and Spinal & Nervous rejuvenation. The Save India association is conducting camps week after week without involving any fee for every one of the individuals, who are experiencing Back pain. All the same, people with other medical issues can also learn them and help themselves to enjoy perfect health and that as well with no depressions, fatigues or strain. Those who are destitute and are worn out on running from pillar to post and have spent a ton in treating back pain would now be able to plan to appreciate ideal wellbeing through this nature fix treatment which can properly be known as a therapy beyond all therapies. Hence the study is aimed to assess the effectiveness of Acharya technique on low back pain among women. Quantitative approach with Experimental Research design was employed with 60 samples which matched the inclusion criteria were selected by purposive sampling technique. A demographic variable was collected by using multiplechoice questionnaires by structured questionnaires, and the level of pain was assessed by using the Numerical Rating Scale. The results of the study are out of 60 samples 37 [61.66%] had moderate pain, 23 [38.33%] had mild pain, and none had severe pain.

Pain intensity is considered as the fifth vital sign. However, it is the only vital sign which is subjective, with there being many pain measurement tools for adults to rate their level of pain. Additionally, there is an increasing number of aging populations throughout the world, and pain measurement in this group of people is challenging as geriatrics have both physical and cognitive impairment. The most frequently utilized pain measurement tools are; the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), Verbal Rating Scale (VRS), Numerical Rating Scale (NRS); and faces scales [Faces Pain Scale (FPS) and Faces Pain Scale-Revised (FPS-R) are the faces scales studied most often] tend to be valid for measuring pain severity in cognitively intact elderly. When problems arise, the VAS is the pain measurement tool found to have more difficulties (including higher rates of failure) than the other tools. In elderly with cognitive deficits, fewer difficulties tend to occur as the tools become simpler, with the most valid and useful tools in the following order: the FPS/FPS-R, the VRS, the 0-10 NRS, and the VAS. Furthermore, simpler pain measurement tools tend to be favored over more complicated tools. Keywords: aging; elderly; geriatrics; older; pain measurement; pain measurement tools
