The study aimed to investigate the proficiency of women academic leaders in public universities, Pakistan. The transformational leadership approach was used to conduct this study. A semi-structured interview protocol was developed to collect data. A convenient sampling technique was applied to collect data from twenty women leaders from the three public universities of Punjab. The interview questions were based on the six-dimensions of transformational leadership. The deductive method was applied to reach conclusions. The results identified that women academic leaders were not that proficient in their transformational leadership practices since four out of six TL-dimensions emerged crucial in all the three public universities.

The study aimed to explore the intentions of higher education students towards conducting qualitative research in social sciences. The study included four PhD and six MPhil students from Punjab Univeristy (Institute of Education and Research) and Eduacation University who were selected through purposive sampling technique. A semi-structured interview protocol was constructed which was validated through experts’ opinion. The respondents were asked about their feelings, knowledge, skills, interests and barriers towards qualitative research. A thematic analysis was applied after obtaining the data through audio recording and field notes. The results revealed that most of the PhD scholars did not possess knowledge and skills required to conduct qualitative research. There was no visible difference between the responses of IER (PU) and EU students. But PhD and MPhil Students had different preferences towards conducting qualitative research.

Most of the transformational, inclusive, partnership leadership literature, while brilliant and inspirational, does not provide day-to-day ideas for practitioners. Drawing on several key leadership theories and theorists (Kouzes and Posner’s five core behaviors of successful leaders, the Athena Model based on research on women leaders, Centered Leadership from the McKinsey Project, the Research-Productivity and Engagement Model, Burn’s and Bass’ Transformational Leadership Theory, Riane Eisler’s partnership leadership, multicultural leadership theorist Juana Bordas, and feminist leadership theorists), the author describes how she has translated and implemented day-to-day leadership practices which she calls Intergalactic Leadership.

This chapter presents the lived experiences of women academic leaders in higher education during the pandemic period in Turkey. The chapter elaborates on the illusion of gender equalities for women in higher education through formal and informal support mechanisms. The authors then present recent knowledge and experiences of women academics in the country during the pandemic and how these experiences have impacted all aspects of life. The authors conducted online interviews with 20 women leaders at varying levels of higher education. The overall findings show that the lack of support mechanisms due to quarantine measures has created an overwhelming workload and challenging personal life experiences for the respondents. The women leaders observed in our study utilized strategies like collaboration, shared decision-making, and constant communication to motivate their colleagues and staff. The idea of “help” and fair share needs to be further examined due to its significance on gender equality for women leaders in academia.

Nowadays, education has become more complex than before. The need for knowledge, understanding, and passion among societies had caused an increase in education demand. To prepare a better and higher-level quality of education, the Ministry of Higher Education had played vital roles to enhance their services and efficiency levels. Nevertheless, the trend of budget allocation for operating expenditure in education sectors had shown a decline for the past three years, starting from the year 2016 until 2018 (Ministry of Higher Education, 2018). Since the budget allocation was cut off, public universities in Malaysia were encouraged to seek their own funds. One of the alternatives implemented by public universities was fund seeking through waqf collection. Through waqf, it assists public universities to support their needs especially for financial sustainability in the future. Respondents totaling 398 people comprising of various societies in Ipoh, Perak participated in this survey. A simple random sampling technique was employed to measure the social culture, understanding, awareness level, religiosity, marketing methods and willingness to contribute to Waqf education. Pearson correlation was used to measure the relationship between the variables. The results indicated insignificant relationships between awareness and willingness to contribute to waqf education. Furthermore, the findings also explained that the social culture, understanding, religiosity, and marketing methods are the significant determinants in influencing the willingness to contribute to Waqf education. The findings from this study could benefit the Ministry of Higher Education itself, relevant government agencies and policymakers to promote Waqf as an alternative to generating income for education sectors in Malaysia.

The low level of resilience had disrupted the psychological well-being and sustainable education of students who studied in the field of helping profession, at two distinct public universities in Terengganu. Therefore, the present study explored the students’ resilience via the qualitative method. The data was collected vis-à-vis focus group interviews based on a semi-structured interview protocol. In general, 16 students participated in the study. They pursued a Diploma in Nursing, Radiography, a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery and a Bachelor of Counselling at Universiti Malaysia Terengganu and Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin. These informants were selected via stratified purposive sampling, and the obtained data were analysed thematically. Results revealed that the informants learned ways to build resilience and how the power of resilience helped their adaptability skills in university. In conclusion, the present study contributed to the knowledge of resilience, which reinforced these students’ resilience. Finally, the present study recommended web-based intervention to promote and enhance students’ resilience in tertiary education.

Higher Education (HE) institutions have been exploring new approaches that will enable them to manage with the increasing demand of access to education. One key area is in the usage of new models, new innovations, and new ways of delivering the curriculum, connecting students with their instructors such as the use of Social Media (SM) in teaching. This paper examined the factors that influence instructors’ use of SM in Ghanaian HE pedagogy. The study employed the concurrent triangulation mixed method approach using questionnaire and semi-structured interview guide to obtain data from two hundred and thirty-five (235) instructors who were selected using the multistage sampling technique from the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) and the Ghana Technology University College (GTUC). The key findings point to the fact that instructors’ professional rank, intrinsic drive, functionality of SM platforms, user friendliness, motivation, ease of use of the SM platforms, access to internet connection and ease of communication in using the platforms were the factors that influenced instructors use of SM for teaching. The study concludes by indicating the implications of the findings for policy on the use of SM for delivering instruction in Ghana and recommends the need for HE authorities to come up with motivational packages that would encourage instructors to integrate SM into the pedagogy of HE in Ghana.

Objective - Examining the relationship between transformational leadership dimensions (Idealized Influence Attribute, Idealized Influence Behavioural, Inspirational Motivation, Intellectual Stimulation, and Individualized Consideration) and organizational innovation in higher education. Methodology/Technique - The research used a quantitative approach to examine the Relationship between transformational leadership dimensions and organizational innovation. The population for this study consisted of all academic staff in 10 public universities distributed throughout Iraq. The sample consists of 280 academic staff members in public universities located in Iraq selected through random sampling technique. The data for this study was collected through a questionnaire survey. SEM with AMOS 21 was used to test the causal relationship between transformational leadership dimensions and organizational leadership. Findings - The statistic results found significant strong relationships between the four transformational leadership and organizational innovation. In addition, transformational leadership dimensions play important roles in determining the organizational innovation. Novelty - The study contributes to the existing pool of knowledge on the empirical relationship between transformational leadership dimensions and organizational innovation. Different aspects of these variables were tested, so as to provide a wider and more comprehensive understanding of the factors that affect higher education in Iraq. Leadership development is not considered as a core component in higher education policies specifically when we examine the higher education polices of developing countries. To fill this gap, an intervention is designed to evaluate the impact of a leadership development program in academic leaders. The prime objective of this intervention was to promote awareness among university deans and heads by adopting transformational leadership in their leadership practices. An experimental research design was adopted to map the effects of a 6-week intervention and to evaluate the variations in related six transformational leadership behaviors. Up to 37 academic deans and heads from public universities were involved in this research. Content analysis was carried out to analyze the collected data. Bloom’s taxonomy was adopted as a framework for the analysis. Three lower levels of Bloom’s taxonomy were used to identify the awareness indicators. An extensive increase in awareness levels was identified in relation to all six transformational leadership behaviors, and more specifically, a prominent progress was observed at the application level. In addition to implications and limitations, directions for future research were also discussed.

Previously, the major function of higher education in all over the world was to prepare the work force for productive contribution in society but now, it is more focused to equip individual with knowledge, skills and competencies to meet the future demands of global knowledge economy. Developing country like Pakistan needs to sheer focus on contemporary trends and issues in higher education, in order to produce individual with the capabilities that make them able to adapt the future challenges. Hence, the aim of this study is to identify the problems that students are facing in higher education from the selection to the success in graduate program. Researcher adopted qualitative methodology to conduct the study and used purposive sampling technique to collect data. For this purpose, eight participants selected, who were experienced and permanent faculty members of a public sector University. Structured Interview Protocol developed to collect information from the participant. The interview was audio recorded by keeping in view the ethical consideration. The audio data transcribed and analyzed through thematic approach. Findings revealed that a career prospect is the most important factor in selecting the course of study. The other factors which influenced the decision-making process in graduate program are parental pressure and lack of knowledge about the field of study. Further, it was found that due to lack of mentoring and career counselling programs students cannot predict their success for the future in graduate program.
