Kuta Utara district is a suburb of Denpasar City which is currently experiencing rapid development, especially in its use of space. Since 2011, North Kuta District has been designated as part of the development area of the Sarbagita urban area which is a national strategic area. This study is related to changes in spatial use to describe changes in spatial use that occurred before and after the determination of the Sarbagita urban area. The analysis carried out was overlaying a map of land use change in 2003, 2011 and 2017. The results of this study indicate a rapid change in spatial use from the period 2011 to 2017 indicated by changes in land not built into built-up land.

Abstract Floods cause great damage to ecosystems and are among the main agents of soil erosion. Given the importance of soils for the functioning of ecosystems and development and improvement of bio-economic conditions, the risk and rate of soil erosion was assessed using the RUSLE model in Iran’s Lorestan province before and after a period of major floods in late 2018 and early 2019. Furthermore, soil erosion was calculated for current and future conditions based on the Global Soil Erosion Modeling Database (GloSEM). The results showed that agricultural development and land use change are the main causes of land degradation in the southern and central parts of the study area. The impact of floods was also significant since our evaluations showed that soil erosion increased from 4.12 t ha-1 yr-1 before the floods to 10.93 t ha-1 yr-1 afterwards. Field surveying using 64 ground control points determined that erodibility varies from 0.17 to 0.49% in the study area. Orchards, farms, rangelands and forests with moderate or low vegetation cover were the most vulnerable land uses to soil erosion. The GloSEM modeling results revealed that climate change is the main cause of change in the rate of soil erosion. Combined land use change-climate change simulation showed that soil erosion will increase considerably in the future under SSP1-RCP2.6, SSP2-RCP4.5, and SSP5-RCP8.5 scenarios. In the study area, both natural factors, i.e. climate change and human factors such as agricultural development, population growth, and overgrazing are the main drivers of soil erosion.

Purpose This study aims to prove that land-use change plays a role in the occurrence of hydro-meteorological disasters in Central Java, especially in relation to its upstream and downstream. Design/methodology/approach The paper presents empirical findings from quantitative research using a spatial analysis and descriptive analysis. Findings The upstream and downstream area of Central Java is categorized as a rapid development area that results in changes in land use and land cover. The findings showed that there was an increasing number of hydrometeorological disasters such as floods and landslides as the impact of land-use change and rainfall conditions. Research limitations/implications Analysis of the relationship between rainfall and disaster events with more technical and specific analysis could be done in the further research. Originality/value In this study, more analysis in the context of river basin systems including upstream and downstream in different periods to examine the linkage between them have been considered and incorporated.

Bangli Regency is one of Regency in the Bali Province. The total area of  Bangli Regency is 52,081 hectares (9.24%) of total area of Bali Province (563,666 ha). The Growth and the development of the region Bangli Regency the positive impacts on the economy of the community, and the negative impacts on the environment. Land use change is one of the negative issue of development Bangli Regency. This study conduted the calculation of land use change from 1997 to 2014 using Landsat data in Bangli Regency. Landsat 5 TM, Landsat 7 ETM+ and Landsat 8 OLI/TIRS imageries were used to determine the land use map based, on using supervised classification method. The field data set the nine classes were classtuded based, on the classification were fresh water, bare land, forest, residential, bushes, irrigated paddy field, non irrigated paddy field, dry land and plantation. There results showed in land use changes from 1997 to 2014 that plantation increased (19,486.33 ha (36.89%)), and residential increased (1,872.00 ha (3.47%)), there is also a vast to reduction in dry land  (-10,868.90 ha (-21.21%)), forest (-6,333.34 ha (-12.24%)), irrigated paddy field (-1,619.50 ha (-3.17%)), bushes (-1,637.30 ha (-3.27%)), bare land (-63.00 ha (-0.17%)), non irrigated paddy field (-113.59 ha ( -0.26%)) and fresh water (-2.70 ha (-0.05%). The results accuracy rate was 89.45%. Anslyse of land use showed that the significant decrease of plantation area in Bangli Regency hill due to rapid development of infrastrusture of tourism and extensive residential area has increased particularly in sub district of the Kintamani District.

The use of land as a trade and service area contributes greatly to the development of urban economic structures, including in the District of Kartasura. Especially Kartasura's market activity which is always developing because it is a place to fulfill primary needs. However, the existence of this market and also the trade and service activities around it are increasingly troubling due to irregularities and disrupting transportation activities around the market. Geographically, Kartasura Subdistrict is quite close to the Surakarta City area (around 10 Km), and Surakarta City has a very rapid and dense development intensity and has a limited development area, so the development of socio-economic activities tends to move towards the Kartasura Sub-District area.Close socio-economic relations with Surakarta City made Kartasura experience rapid development in the growth of new activities along the A. Yani road. Such as education, health, trade and services, industry and office activities. With the growth of new activities along the A Yani road, traffic jams often occur at peak hours. The congestion is due to the mixture between modes of transportation, trade, industry and offices.The purpose of this study is to identify the performance of the A Yani road, to determine the effect of land use on congestion that occurs. To achieve these objectives, the analysis used is quantitative calculations. By comparing the road conditions at peak and non peak hours on the A Yani road. The method used in this study is analyzing the volume of the road (V) A Yani experiencing congestion, analyzing side barriers, speed, road capacity (C) A Yani, and the level of road service (V / C) A Yani. In addition to the quantitative analysis also conduct qualitative analysis to clarify the quantitative analysis that has been done. So that what is a problem on Jalan A Yani can also be analyzed, what are the factors that cause congestion and finally show conclusions and recommendations of problems.Keywords: Land use, Traffic Congestion

Many scholars have conducted in-depth research on the theme of land use change and food security, and formed fruitful research results, but there is a lack of quantitative analysis and comprehensive evaluation of research achievements. Therefore, based on the relevant literature on the theme of land use change and food security in the core collection of the Web of Science (WOS) database, this paper takes the advantage of CiteSpace and VOSviewer bibliometric software to draw the cooperative network and keyword cooccurrence map to analyze the research progress and frontier. The results reveal that: (1) The research started in 1999 and can be divided into three stages: initial research, rapid development, and a stable in-depth stage. This topic has increasingly become a research hotspot in the academic community. (2) The distribution of research institutions is concentrated and forms a small cluster, and the research networks between developed and developing countries have been established, and developed countries are in the core position, but the cooperation network is not prominent. (3) The research content is becoming increasingly organized and systematic, and the research hot topics are divided into seven aspects. (4) The research area of the subject covers multiple levels, such as global, national, and specific natural geographical regions, and has formed a research system of geographic information technology and satellite remote sensing technology. It also presents the trend of cross integration with economics, land management and soil science. In the future, theoretical innovation still needs to be strengthened, and we should strengthen the research on the impact of agricultural chemical fertilizers on food security and study the impact of urban expansion on land use change.

The spatial transformation of new urban areas into industrial urban areas impacts spatial structure, spatial patterns, and environmental degradation. This study aims to analyze the spatial transformation work as a determinant of the development of the new urban area of Metro Tanjung Bunga Makassar and analyze the relationship of spatial expansion, land use change and population increase for the growth of new city areas and the sustainable development of the Metro Tanjung Bunga area, Makassar city. The data for this study has been obtained through observation, surveys and documentation. The research approach used is a sequential explanation. According to the results, that excessive urbanization and maximum compaction led to spatial expansion towards the development of the new urban area of Metro Tanjung Bunga. Moreover, the increase in number has a dominant influence with a value of 32.3% on the growth of the new city area of Metro Tanjung Bunga, Makassar City. Spatial expansion, land use change, and population increase were determinants of growth factors in the new urban areas and they also had a significant impact on environmental quality degradation. This study recommends the importance of considering the impact of new urban spatial areas for the formulation of strategic policies on sustainable development as an effort to meet national development targets for the case of Metropolitan Cities in Indonesia.

Pekanbaru City as the capital of Riau Province has   a quite rapidly development. One of the areas that is undergoing rapid change is the Soekarno-Hatta road segment. This corridor is located in a commercial and educational area. Strategic location makes this corridor an attraction for the community and investors to invest in the region. The purpose of this study was to analyze changes in spatial use in the corridor of Soekarno Hatta Street in Pekanbaru City in 2008-2018. This researcher used a qualitative descriptive method, with spatial overlay analysis techniques in 2008 and 2018 using GIS. The results of this study are the use of space in 2008-2018 experienced a lot of changes in land use change and increased space use. In 2008 the use of space in the corridor of Soekarno Hatta Street was still largely in the form of vacant land, which has not been utilized. Most of the changes in spatial use are the emergence of new areas of land that have not been utilized. In addition, an increase in the area of ​​spatial use for economic activities amounted to 301,455m2, the area of ​​social activity change increased by 17,014m2, and the area of ​​settlement changes decreased by 10,303m2. A significant change in spatial use is in the form of increasingly widespread commercial activity in the strategic corridor area.

Abstract Roads is one of the main infrastructures to support the realization of economic development. The economic development resulting economic activity and the emergence of new industrial and activity centers, and then will stimulate population movement and growth. The increase of the population number and movement will encourage changes in land use. This study conducted to analyze the effect of road construction on the rate of land use change. Land use change caused by the construction of this road was identified by analyzing land use change with the help of a geographic information system. Satellite imageries are processed into maps based on geographic information systems to classify land use gradually over years. The results of this classification are then used for land use change analysis. The analysis carried out shows that there is a change in land use rate growth for building classification before and after road construction. Land use for growth for building classification is developed faster when a new road is built than before a road is built. In the area around the Salatiga and Ambarawa Ring Roads, the increase in the proportion of built-in land use is the conversion of forest land use and open land. Meanwhile, in the area around the Manado Ring Road, the increase in the proportion of built-in land use is the conversion of forest land use.
