The results and prospects of selection of naked oat varieties in the conditions of the Northern Steppe of Ukraine were given. The problems and main directions of creating of new initial material were determined. The high-yielding, large-grain genotypes (Thousand Grain Weight was to 25.3–29.1 g) such as Abel, Rhea, Nuprime, Plater, Adam, Biloruskyi, Pushkinskyi, Hosha, Kriepysh resistant to abiotic factors were used in hybridization, and allowed to create a new hybrid combinations of naked oats. We established that the cultivars significantly differed from each other in the spikelets and grains number per plant, however not always these features quite affected the plant productivity. Thus, it is proved that the set of features such as number of spikelets in the panicle, number of grains in the spikelet and the grain size determines the plant productivity. The best initial forms of naked oats by biological and economic features were specified. The characteristics of the new initial material were highlighted, and the results of breeding work were presented. The naked oat cultivars were selected in the control nursery: Ск 1024/10, Рс 72/09, Сс 732/10, their grain yield (2.59–2.66 t/ha) significantly exceeded the standard variety (by 0, 35–0.42 t/ha) on average for 3 years. The most productive cultivars by protein content (15.9–16.2 %) were Рс 72/09, СС 1136/09, Сс 732/10 and Сп 234/10. The average yield (2.58 t/ha) of Rodonit naked oat variety exceeded the Skarb Ukrainy national standard variety by 0.33 t/ha or by 14.7 % according to the three-year competitive variety test. Since 2019, Rodonit has been understate variety testing. The protein content of 16.1 % and the starch of 49.0 % were in the grain, and the number of hulled grains did not exceed 3.0 %. The growing season of Rodonit variety was 91 days which was three days longer than the standard variety. Key words: oat, variety, hybridization, selection, yield, hybrid combinations.

Relevance and methods. In the conditions of southern mid-Siberia, biological features and seed productivity of 26 biotypes of the nursery of the initial material of the Psathyrostachys juncea (Russian wildrye) of 2015 sowing are presented. The work was carried out in accordance with the methodological guidelines on the selection of fodder crops and the methodology of the State Commission for Crop Testing and Statistical Data Processing — using the package of application programs "Snedecor," and B.A. Dospehova (1985), in the Excel program.Results. Phenological observations made it possible to determine the period of passage of the phases of development of samples of the slice collector from sprouts to caking, exit into the tube and shingling. The greatest stability of uniform growth from the period of spring growth to colossal is observed in biotype — K 12. Quick-ripe biotypes K 1, K 4, K 5, K 9, K 12, K 16, K 24 period from the beginning of vegetation to seed ripening is 65–75 days. Biotypes K 1, K 3, K 5, K 12, K 18 are noted by number of productive stems, length of colos, weight of seeds from 1 plant.

The article is devoted to the study of several tomatoes introduced and created in Vegetable Growing Research Institute (Baku) and pure lines derived from them. Biological and economically-valuable characteristics of varieties and obtained pure are given. It should be noted that in Azerbaijan, 25 different varieties of tomatoes are introduced and localized. These varieties have been cultivated on farms for years and have lost their farm valuable qualities due to various biotic an abiotic factors. Although tomato is a self-pollinating plant, special selection and seeding measures are required for reproduction. Therefore, in order to restore the original characteristics of regionalized tomato varieties, it is necessary to re-study their biological characteristics and economically-valuable qualities. Our research was carried out in the direction of individual selection and acquisition of pure lines of typical plants with characteristic features and characteristics. In the course of the work, 2–3 best pure lines were separated from each variety. These lines differ from the parent varieties in terms of ripening time, fruit weight and productivity. Thus, as a result of experiments, it was determined that they give the product in 10–15 days, the characteristics of coexistence are also high, forming uniformity in shape, size and color. The obtained lines are promising, will be included in the selection of seed work as a valuable starting material, and will also be increased.

SUMMARYThe possibility of growing dry peas in the semi-arid areas of Mediterranean countries was assessed by comparing dry pea (Pisum sativum L.) varieties with the highest yielding barley and durum wheat varieties under rainfed conditions and with supplementary irrigation in Cyprus. The yield of barley cv. Kantara was greater than that of the best pea variety selected, PS 210713, especially under the driest conditions, but the differences between cereals and dry pea varieties were smaller when grown in areas where there was more rain or where supplementary irrigation was supplied. The protein content of the dry seeds and straw of the peas was higher than those of the cereals. It is concluded that selected varieties of dry peas could be grown in dry Mediterranean areas, particularly in rotation with barley or wheat.Pisum sativum L. para zonas mediterráneas

The yolk lipid composition was determined and the sensory and internal quality evaluated for eggs obtained from hens at 8 and 15 m of age from two experiments. In exp. 1, in which naked oats replaced corn and soybean meal at levels of 0–800 g kg−1, there was a marked decrease in Roche yolk color at 8 mo, an increase in egg weight, and at 15 mo and a decrease in yolk flavor intensity with increasing level of oats. In exp. 2, there were four diets (0) a corn-soybean meal control, (876) a soybean-free naked oat alfalfa diet, (874) diet 876 supplemented with lysine and methionine and (691) diet 876 supplemented with canola meal. Haugh units were greater and yolk color less for supplemented naked oat diets versus the control diet. The yolk lipid content of sphingomyelin and sterols were higher than for the control diet. A yolk sulfury aroma was noted at 15 mo. At 8 mo, egg Haugh units were lower for the unsupplemented oat diet relative to the corn-soy diet. There were no other detrimental effects of oat diet on egg sensory quality. Other than a corrigible yolk color effect, egg quality traits do not limit the use of naked oats in poultry layer diets. Key words: Oats (naked), canola, egg internal quality, egg sensory quality, egg lipid composition, laying hen

Nine cultivars of winter wheat were compared in organic and conventional crop rotation systems. Bread-making quality was evaluated using three parameters [thousand-kernel weight (TKW) in g, volume weight in g/l, protein content in %]. Grain yield, TKW and protein content of winter wheat in organic cropping system were significantly lower as compared to any intensity in conventional cropping system. However, clover as a preceding crop to winter wheat in organic crop rotation ensured a sufficient amount of nitrogen for grain yield, which was 6.72 t/ha on average of the three years. The requirement of the Czech national standard for bread wheat minimum value of protein content (11.5%) was met in conventional crop rotation in all cases. Average value of protein content in organic crop rotation met this limit too, but it was below the required value in two cases. The required value (760 g/l) of volume weight was met in majority of cases in organic crop rotation. The following species of the genus Fusarium were found: F. culmorum, F. graminearum, F. poae and F. avenaceum. All samples were screened for the content of deoxynivalenol (DON). There was no significant difference in the DON content between winter wheat grain from organic crop rotation and conventional crop rotation at high intensity.
