The article is divided into the following main blocks: initiatives of bioethics` capacity building; practices and experiences in the bioethicist`s work. The article aims to investigate the structuring possibilities of bioethical education, and the model of integrative bioethics is seen in this context as a promising device/tool. The figure-scheme, created by the author, shows 2 bioethics' growth lines - educational, as a formal (institutional) line and societal, as informal (cultural) one. In describing the lines, the author has identified the main aspects of influence: the cultural aspect (a); the political aspect (c); the humanistic aspect / human capital (c). In the educational (formal) sphere the following areas of activity were described - school, education, interdisciplinary programs in bioethics. In societal (informal) - experience of participation of community organizations in the creation of projects and grant activities of bioethicists. Hereof the following blocks were discussed - Bioethicist as an activist; Role of bioethicist as a translator, agent of change. Education through bioethics and public discussion of bioethical issues is what can be called a «circle of integrity». Bioethics education prepares community members to deal with ethically challenging issues by providing them with the skills to address ethical challenges in the everyday routine of one community. Bioethics capacity building was reviewed through the creation of a professional network of bioethics experts and their educational programmes - the Integrative Platform of Bioethics (InPlatBio). A network of bioethicists and stakeholders provides a learning-friendly environment. Both - networks and the development of links with different informal organisations and associations are important for essential communicative skills. The use of online courses, webinars is a modern source of information on the development of bioethics in Ukraine as well as in European countries.

This article addresses the meaning and significance of the “world revolution of 1968,” as well as the historiography of 1968. I critically interrogate how the production of a narrative about 1968 and the creation of ethnic studies, despite its world-historic significance, has tended to perpetuate a limiting, essentialized and static notion of “the student” as the primary actor and an inherent agent of change. Although students did play an enormous role in the events leading up to, through, and after 1968 in various parts of the world—and I in no way wish to diminish this fact—this article nonetheless argues that the now hegemonic narrative of a student-led revolt has also had a number of negative consequences, two of which will be the focus here. One problem is that the generation-driven models that situate 1968 as a revolt of the young students versus a presumably older generation, embodied by both their parents and the dominant institutions of the time, are in effect a sociosymbolic reproduction of modernity/coloniality’s logic or driving impulse and obsession with newness. Hence an a priori valuation is assigned to the new, embodied in this case by the student, at the expense of the presumably outmoded old. Secondly, this apparent essentializing of “the student” has entrapped ethnic studies scholars, and many of the period’s activists (some of whom had been students themselves), into said logic, thereby risking the foreclosure of a politics beyond (re)enchantment or even obsession with newness yet again.

Outsiders—or “foreigners”—who study violent extremism in affected countries can have multiple iden- tities as students of violent extremism, as students of the countries in question, and as “foreigners” to the contexts they study. They often have long-standing personal relationships with local community members and in some cases they have spent more time living in the countries they study than in their countries of nationality. Yet they inhabit an ambiguous space, being “insiders” in the eyes of some, and “outsiders” in the eyes of others. This ambiguity gives rise to both practical and ethical challenges in undertaking fieldwork. The following reflections draw on the author’s own experiences to illustrate some of the complexities associated with positionality, ethics, and risk as well as important considerations that all researchers should take into account when undertaking fieldwork in a country other than their own.

The purpose of the research is to develop a digital platform for creating personalized adaptive online courses that can integrate into the university’s e-learning environment. The Digital Tutor platform is designed to provide the online learning process with tools that allow for the adaptation of the content of the electronic course in accordance with the individual level of student competency through adaptive testing tools in order to achieve the level of student competency established by educational and professional standards.Materials and research methods. The research methodological base consists of methods and technologies of system analysis and knowledge management. Conclusions and provisions of the work are based on the analysis of domestic and foreign literature on the use of digital technologies in education. In preparing the article, materials obtained by the authors during the scientific and practical development of the prototype of the Digital Tutor platform were used to create personalized adaptive online courses at Plekhanov Russian University of Economics.Results. The digital platform for hosting the repository of educational objects and the online courses themselves is available on the University’s information resources with the possibility of integration into the University’s electronic educational environment. The implementation of this project will allow: students and the audience to use educational content prepared on the basis of relevant educational material, as well as to participate in its creation and discussion; to develop more dynamic and high-quality training courses that contribute to the formation of the required competencies among students and the audience; significantly reduce the burden on lecturers when working with remote students, free up more time for updating the training material, the formation of practical and design tasks; implement the concept of personalization of training - the creation of educational material aimed at a particular student; provide support for the creation and updating of their own MOOC; transform the system of continuing education to the requirements and needs of the business; respond ahead of time to the needs of society for qualified personnel for the digital economy.Conclusion. A new model for the implementation of online education has been proposed and tested, which consists in the automatic construction of online courses from the educational objects of the repository in accordance with the monitoring of its activities and a personal trajectory to achieve the required learning outcomes. The concept of transformation of the model of online education is based on the creation of a modern educational based on advanced digital, intelligent technologies. Compared with existing analogues, the project has competitive advantages in the implementation of a new business model of education, based on the availability of a mechanism for automatic updating of educational content and preparing courses on the basis of a repository of educational objects that form the necessary competencies in accordance with the Federal State Educational Standard and approved professional standards.

Abstract Background Trauma is a significant public health issue, negatively impacting a range of health outcomes. Providers and administrators in public mental health systems recognize the widespread experience of trauma, as well as their limited ability to address trauma within their communities. In response, the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health funded nine regionally based community partnerships to build capacity to address trauma. We describe partnership and community capacity-building efforts and examine community impact, defined as successful linkages to resources and changes in stress tolerance capacities among community members. Methods We conceptualized community capacity-building as dissemination of trauma-informed education and training, community outreach and engagement, and linkage of community members to resources. We measured trauma-informed trainings among partnership members (N = 332) using the Trauma-Informed Organizational Toolkit. Outreach, engagement and linkages were documented using Event and Linkage Trackers. We examined changes in the type of successful linkage after the issuance of statewide mandatory restrictions in response to COVID-19. We examined changes in stress tolerance capacities among community members (N = 699) who were engaged in ongoing partnership activities using the 10-item Conner-Davidson Resilience Scale; the 28-item Coping Orientation to Problems; and the pictorial Inclusion of Community in Self Scale. Results Training and education opportunities were widespread: 66% of members reported opportunities for training in 13 or more trauma-informed practices. Partnerships conducted over 7800 community capacity-building events with over 250,000 attendees. Nearly 14,000 successful linkages were made for a wide range of resources, with consistent linkage success prior to (85%) and during (87%) the pandemic. In response to COVID-19, linkage type significantly shifted from basic services and health care to food distribution (p < .01). Small but significant improvements occurred in coping through emotional and instrumental support; and sense of community connectedness (p < .05 each). Conclusions Community-based partnerships demonstrated effective capacity-building strategies. Despite the pandemic, community members did not report reduced stress tolerance, instead demonstrating gains in external help-seeking (use of emotional and instrumental supports) and perception of community connectedness. Future work will use qualitative methods to examine the impact of community capacity-building and the sustainability of this approach for addressing the impact of trauma within communities.

Drawing on insights from the field of ‘ecocriticism’ within literary studies, this article examines the creation poem of Ben Sira (16.26-17.14) from an ecological perspective. The text is significant for such a purpose because of its reuse of the Genesis creation accounts, in particular the notion of human beings as the image of God and with dominion over creation, which has caused some critics to label the biblical accounts as exploitatively anthropocentric. Preceding sections of Sirach include discussion of human significance ‘in a boundless creation’ and human free will and moral responsibility, and these themes are developed in the poem itself. The poem’s description of the creation of humankind suggests both human finitude, a characteristic shared with other life forms, and the uniqueness of the divine image in human beings. These characteristics are set within the context of the cosmos as a stable and ordered whole, obedient to God, and of the responsibilities stipulated in the Torah to deal rightly with one’s neighbour. Reading this text from an ecological perspective invites recognition of the ambiguity of human place in the world, transient yet earth-changing, and of the ethical challenges in caring for global neighbours in the face of growing environmental pressures.

Climate Change impacts would disproportionately have larger impacts on the developing countries. Both government and development agencies have initiated various adaptation strategies in the developing countries to enhance the adaptation of the local communities. Various policies and programmes have been designed keeping in mind the impact of climate change. This study was conducted in Darjeeling district of West Bengal, India, to see the benefits of such policies and programmes. Focus group discussion with community members were held in the study area. Based on the fieldwork it was seen that most of the intervention made in the study area focused on income, resources, and assets. It has failed to benefits the people due to variation in the capability among various section of the society. Various projects related to health, education, housing, and livelihood, have been implemented in the study region. However, due to lack of conversion factors in the form of gender inequality, discriminatory practices, transparency among others have come as a hindrance in the successful implementation of the projects. Hence, such project-based approach to enhance community's adaptation to climate risk, in the end fails to show benefits as it fails to expand community's capabilities and real freedom, due to the project's pre-defined aims. It is important to understand community's as agent of change rather than merely beneficiaries of adaptation projects. This study therefore recommends that to enhance community's adaptation to climate change, the interventions should be such that it enlarges the range of people's choices so that when climate disaster strikes them they will have a set of opportunities.

The present study concentrates on assessing the ongoing method of capacity building of teachers in higher education institutions of India. It has been conceptualized with the objective of making a comprehensive study of the prevailing techniques of capacity building and skill enrichment for the teachers in higher education institutions of the country; determining the adequacy and effectiveness of these techniques in capacity building and enhancing the skill and competency of the human resources; and finally, suggesting ways of making the techniques more objective and purposeful besides what other measures can be implemented for improving the present system. The study reveals that there is a need for making an assessment of specific teachers' needs while designing subject specific training programmes that should be offered using modular approach and by incorporating latest developments in the concerned disciplines. Capacity building programmes must include IT-based competency enhancement modules offered through massive open online courses (MOOCs) and specialized certification courses.

For two years between 2008 and 2010, I worked as a facilitator for a Philadelphia-based non-profit community media organization on a project where local people spoke out about the value of their own communities through the creation of a short documentary films. My job was to help community members tell the story that they wanted to tell, while ensuring that it met scholarly standards for historical and ethnographic research. In each of the two films the process revealed significant differences between community members regarding the who, what, where, when, why and how of representation. Each group had to work through these differences to produce a film that all participants could sign off on, or they would lose participants who felt that their voices were not heard and end up with a product that was not community media.

BACKGROUND: This research analyzed the effect of the implementation of healthy city in Makassar City based on the aspects of capacity building and program sustainability. AIM: This research aimed to analyze the implementation of healthy city in Makassar City based on capacity building and program sustainability aspects. METHODS: The research was conducted qualitatively in which the data were collected through direct interview, observation, and field note. Thirteen people were involved as informants consisting of vice mayor of Makassar, two organizers of the healthy city of Makassar City, one member from the forum of the healthy center of Makassar City, and nine community members from nine sub-districts including Makassar, Mamajang, Mariso, Panakkukang, Rappocini, Tallo, Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda) of Makassar City, and Indonesian Public Health Bachelor Association (PERSAKMI). RESULTS: The training and socialization are often ineffective since it is only participated by the coordinators from the healthy city itself. The sustainability of the healthy city program of Makassar City has been implemented well. It was proven by various healthy city appreciation obtained since the implementation of the program. Active involvement and participation from the government, community, agency, and all related stakeholders, as well as strong commitment and desire in the program implementation are the main factor of the sustainability of healthy city program in Makassar City. The suggestion given by this research is to improve the quality of healthy city program but is not based on the consideration of the appreciation. CONCLUSION: The improvement of the capacity needs to even all forum members of healthy city of Makassar at the level of city, sub-district, and sub-village.
