This study aimed to recognize the problems  faced by the tenth graders of SMA Negeri 1 Jejawi and to determine the  factors that influenced  students’ difficulties in comprehending recount text. This study was a qualitative research. The subject of the study was the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Jejawi in academic year of 2019/2020. The techniques of collecting the data were interview and reading comprehension test. To analyses the data, reducing, data displayed, content analysis, and draw conclusion were applied. The result of the study showed that there were 68.7%  students  had difficulties in finding the main idea,  70.15% students had difficulties in understanding vocabulary,  66% students had difficulties in finding reference,  59.3% students had difficulties in finding purpose of the text,  67.24% students had difficulties in finding detail information, and 81.95% students had difficulties in determining the generic structure of the text. Some factors influenced students’ difficulties in comprehending recount text were material that has long passage, limitation of words, learners’ background, and environment.

This study aims at describing how the teachers teach reading comprehension of narrative text to the tenth grade students in Sibolangit and revealing the underlying reasons of why do they do that way. This study was conducted by using qualitative research design. The subject of this study were two english teachers who taught at tenth grade students of two SMA in Sibolangit they are : SMA Negeri  1 Sibolangit  and SMA RK Deli Murni Bandar Baru in academic year 2016/ 2017. The data were analyzed by using Miles and Huberman data analysis technique. The  technique of collecting the data was recorded from the classroom process in teaching reading comprehension of narrative text. The findings of the study show that most of teachers’ ways are not yet focusing on teaching reading comprehension but rather focusing teaching the knowledge of genre. The underlying reason of the teachers’ ways in teaching reading comprehension did not facilitate reading comprehension. It was due to the misperception of the concept of teaching reading comprehension.  Keywords : Teaching,Reading Comprehension,Narrative Text.

This research is a Classroom Action Research (CAR). Numbered Head Together (NHT) was used as the technique to improve students’ reading comprehension which was conducted in two cycles. The subject of this research were the tenth grade students of social 3 class in SMA Negeri 2 Sungai Kakap in the academic year of 2017/2018. The class consisted of 35 students. The data collection used observation and measurement technique. The results showed that Numbered Head Together (NHT) technique could improve students’ ability in reading comprehension. Moreover, it could influence the students’ attention, and also motivated them in learning activities as the result of the groups’ discussion. Through the use of Numbered Head Together (NHT) technique, the students were able to participate in teaching learning process. They became serious in listening to the teacher’s explanations and worked cooperatively with their friends in each group. They were also more active, enthusiastic, and more confident in following class activities which resulted on the better atmosphere of the classroom that was more enjoyable and alive. Keywords:Reading Comprehension, Numbered Head Together and Classroom Action Research

The purpose of conducting this research was find out whether the most dominantlearning style in reading comprehension and to find out which is the fasteststudents‟ learning style in reading comprehension at the tenth grade students atSMA SWASTA Teladan Medan Tembung in academic year 2016/2017. Therewere 239 students from 5 classes as the subject of this research. In this case, theresearcher collected the data by using learning style questionnaire andobservation. The result showed that auditory learning style is the most dominantlearning style at the tenth grade students at SMA SWASTA Teladan Medan, thepercentage was 52.30%, it means 125 from 239 students prefer to hear than readand move. The second was visual learning style, score 30.54% , means tha 73from 239 students prefer to read. Then, kinaesthetic learning style, the sore,17.15%, means that only 41 students prefer to move. For the fastest student‟s inreading comprehension came from visual students or visual learners. They getscore 55%, followed auditory 40%, and kinaesthetic 5%.

<p>The objective of this research is to identify whether the KWL can improve students’ reading comprehension when used in the teaching and learning process of  reading comprehension in the class. The subject of  the research was the first grade of  SMAN 3 Sragen, Central Java, in the academic year of  2011/2012. The research was conducted in two cycles: the first cycle consisted of three meetings, and so was the second cycle. To collect the data of students’ reading competence, some instruments namely: tests, questionnaire, interview, and class observation were used. To ana- lyze the quantitative data which were taken from the result of stu- dents’ score, the researcher applied a descriptive statictics to know their enhancement in reading. The result of the research shows that KWL technique could enhance students’ reading comprehension in term of raising students’ achievement in the case of finding out: (a) explicit information; (b) reference of pronouns; (c) words meaning; (d) main idea in the paragraph; and (e) implicit information in the text. It means that the KWL can improve the students’ comprehen- sion in comprehending English texts optimally.</p>

The objective of the research is to improving students’reading comprehension throughgrammar  translation method toward the tenth grade students, even semester, 2016/2017 academic year of  SMK PrivateTaposDepok.This present classroom action research was mainly aimed to find out the extent of reading comprehension improved through grammar translation method. The subject of the present research were the tenth grade student of SMK Private TaposDepok in academic year 2016/2017 that consisted of 33 males and females, whereas the data collected by interview, data, and observation. The result of the post test in each cycle totally showed that there was significant improvement of the subject’ability in reading comprehension in which their it pointed out that the level improved from insufficient to good. This is evidences with the average reading test in every cycle can improved that is on cycle I=6,76; cycle II=7,35; cycle III=7,80 and the result of the interview concluded that learning reading comprehension through grammar translation method is fun for the students. This research showed positive changing behavior of the subjects in which their attitudes and motivation increased significantly toward reading comprehension. The result of the observation concluded that grammar translation method can improved students’ reading comprehension at tenth grade of SMK Private TaposDepokin Academic 2016/2017. Among four language skills which are listening, reading, speaking and writing, reading is one of the most significant skills to be mastered by students in all grades. Reading gives students immense input of knowledge and information through various texts. Nonetheless, in the classroom, reading activities are long considered as monotonous and not interesting. Therefore, it becomes an urge for the teachers to apply more interesting technique to teach reading. In response to that matter, the teacher can use Numbered Heads Together technique as an alternative technique in teaching reading. This study explores the implementation of Numbered Heads Together in teaching descriptive text and describe the students’ reading comprehension in the implementation of Numbered Heads Together. The subject of this study were students tenth graders of MAN 2 Lamongan. This study is a qualitative case study which was conducted in two meetings. In the first meeting, the teacher just taught the descriptive text without any techniques. In the next meeting, the teacher introduced the technique and applied it in the class. The data of this study were collected from the result of the students’ task. The result of this study shows that the implementation of Numbered Heads Together assisted the students to engage actively in the whole process of learning. After using this technique, the number of students who got good achievement increased. It means that the students’ reading comprehension is improved after the implementation of NHT. In conclusion, NHT is a good technique to be used in teaching descriptive text, especially for the tenth grade students, since it helps them to overcome their difficulties in reading, creates a positive atmosphere in the class, and builds a good interaction for both the teachers and students. This study aimed to describe the character development of Students at SMKN 3 Salatiga through scout extracurricular activities in] 2018/2019 academic year. The subject of this research were tenth grade students of SMKN 3 Salatiga, amount to 227 students. This research is Qualitative research. The data collected by interviews, observation and questionnaires. The results showed that the characters of students formed and fostered in scout extracurricular activities were religious characters, love of nature, caring for others, patriotism, deliberation, cooperation, skillful, discipline, responsible, honest, love the motherland. Scout activities programs that are designed and implemented to shape and foster student character include training, bantara monitoring, Outbound, Deliberation, camp, flower sowing, and ETK. The success of students' character formation and coaching through the scout program reached an average of 90.08% with a very good category.

This study deals with the improving students’ achievement in reading narrative text by using reciprocal teaching. The research of this study was conducted by using action research. The subject of this study was the tenth grade students SMA Negeri 6 Medan. One class was taken as the subject, namely the students from X-5. There were 49 students, consisting of 22 male and 27 female. This research was done in two cycles; there was three meetings in cycle I and three meetings in cycle II. The instruments for collecting data were reading narrative text (25 items of multiple choice tests) teacher make test as quantitative data and interview sheet, observation sheet and diary notes as qualitative data. In analyzing the data, the mean of the students’ score for the treatment I was 61.79, for the treatment II was 72.24 and treatment III was 81.71. The data showed that the students’ score was rising in every treatment. The conclusion is that the use of reciprocal teaching method can improve students’ reading comprehension in narrative text. It suggested to English teacher to apply reciprocal teaching method in teaching reading comprehension. Key words: reading, narrative text, reciprocal teaching.

This study aims to obtain a concrete picture of the effectiveness of the application of the principles of teacher Islamic communication in fostering the character of tenth grade students of Madrasah Aliyah Negeri Rantauprapat. The communication process in education is not only understood as a one-way knowledge transfer process, however, there must be a serious effort on the part of the educator / teacher, as a communicator, to be able to provide good role models. Qualitative research methods try to understand a phenomenon as the understanding of the respondents studied, with an emphasis on the subjective aspects of one's behavior. Qualitative research provides an opportunity for researchers to understand the way respondents describe the world around them based on the way they think. The researcher tries to enter the conceptual world of the subject under study to capture what and how things happen. Data collection techniques used in this study were interviews in this study researchers used a semi-structured interview (semitructure interview), namely: interviews in the category of in-depth interviews. Data about the application of teacher Islamic communication and the communication character of tenth grade students, data analysis used in this study during the field using the Miles and Huberman Model, namely the activities in qualitative data analysis are carried out interactively and continue continuously until completion, so that the data is already saturated.

The purposes of this study were (1) to generate a design and implement the result of the design for the development of e-modul assisted CAI media on the subject of photography for tenth grade of Desain Komunikasi Visual at SMK Negeri 1 Sukasada, (2) to know the responses of the teacher and students toward development of e-modul assisted CAI media on the subject of photography for tenth grade of Desain Komunikasi Visual at SMK Negeri 1 Sukasada. The learning model that used in the development of electronic modul was project based learning. The type of research used in this study was the Research and Development (R&D) using ADDIE development model. The subjects of this study were tenth grade students of Desain Komunikasi Visual at SMK Negeri 1 Sukasada in academic year 2016/2017. In order to know the response of the teacher and students of e-module photography, questionnaire was used to obtain the data. The results showed that: (1) The design and implementation of e-module assisted CAI media which have been developed on the photography course for tenth grade of Desain Komunikasi Visual at SMK Negeri 1 Sukasada was successfully applied by some of the tests conducted. (2) The results of the data analysis showed that the mean score obtained from teacher’s responses was 47, if it converted into a table of classification response; it was classified as the category of very positive. Meanwhile, the mean score obtained from the students' response of the development of e-module, was 67,79, if it converted into a table of classification response, student responses classified as category of very positive.Keywords: E-Module, Photography, Project Based Learning
