AbstrakRendahnya kemampuan komunikasi matematis dan Self Confidence siswa berpengaruh terhadap prestasi dalam pembelajaran matematika. Perlu upaya untuk meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi dan Self Confidence siswa salah satunya dengan menggunakan model Discovery Learning dan Problem Based Learning. Tujuan penelitian untuk menganalisis perbedaan peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi matematis dan Self Confidence antara siswa yang mendapatkan model Discovery Learning dan Problem Based Learning. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuasi eksperimen dengan populasi seluruh siswa kelas X SMA Negeri 2 Garut. Sampel pada penelitian ini sebanyak dua kelas yaitu X MIPA 1 sebagai kelas eksperimen 1 sebanyak 35 siswa yang mendapat model Discovery Learning dan X MIPA 2 sebagai kelas eksperimen 2 sebanyak 33 siswa yang mendapat model Problem Based Learning. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan berupa tes uraian dan angket skala Bandura. Berdasarkan hasil analisis secara statistik diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa terdapat perbedaan peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi matematis antara siswa yang mendapatkan model Discovery Learning dan Problem Based Learning serta terdapat perbedaan peningkatan Self Confidence antara siswa yang mendapatkan model Discovery Learning dan Problem Based Learning. Differences in The Improvement of Mathematical Communication Skill and Self Confidence between Students Who Get the Discovery Learning and Problem Based LearningAbstractThe low mathematical communication skills and Self Confidence of the students affect achievement in mathematics learning. It is worth the effort to improve communication skills and Self Confidence of the students one by using the model of Discovery Learning and Problem Based Learning. Research purposes to analyze the differences in the increase in mathematical communication skills and Self Confidence among the students who get the model of Discovery Learning and Problem Based Learning. The research method used is a quasi-experiment with the entire population of students of class X SMA Negeri 2 Garut. The sample in this study were two classes, namely X MIPA 1 as a class experiment 1 as many as 35 students who received Discovery model Learning and X MIPA 2 as a class experiment 2 a total of 33 students who received the model of Problem Based Learning. The research instrument used in the form of test descriptions and questionnaire scale Bandura. Based on the results of the analysis of statistically obtained the conclusion that there are differences in mathematical communication skills among the students who get the model of Discovery Learning and Problem Based Learning as well as there are differences in the increase in Self Confidence among the students who get the model of Discovery Learning and Problem Based Learning.

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menghasilkan perangkat pembelajaran matematika berbasis masalah yang berorientasi pada kemampuan komunikasi dan prestasi belajar matematika yang mempunyai kualitas baik yang terdiri atas rencana pelakanaan pembelajaran (RPP), lembar kerja siswa (LKS), tes kemampuan komunikasi, dan tes prestasi belajar. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian dan pengembangan. Prosedur yang diadaptasi tersebut meliputi tiga tahap yaitu studi pendahuluan, desain produk, dan pengembangan produk. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perangkat pembelajaran matematika yang dikembangkan masing-masing memenuhi kriteria valid dengan kategori “baik”. Perangkat pembelajaran yang dikembangkan praktis dengan hasil penilaian kepraktisan oleh guru pada kategori “baik”, kategori “sangat baik” berdasarkan respon siswa dan kategori “sangat baik” berdasarkan hasil observasi keterlaksanaan pembelajaran. Perangkat pembelajaran yang dikembangkan efektif berdasarkan ketuntasan belajar siswa. Persentase siswa yang tuntas pada tes kemampuan komunikasi matematika mencapai 84,38% dan pada tes prestasi belajar mencapai 81,25%.Kata Kunci: perangkat pembelajaran, pembelajaran berbasis masalah, kemampuan komunikasi matematika, prestasi belajar Developing a Problem-Based Learning Instructional Kit Oriented to Junior High School of Mathematical Communication Skills and Learning Achievement AbstractThe research aims to produce a good quality problem-based learning mathematics instructional kit oriented to mathematical communication skills and learning achievement consisting of lesson plans, student worksheets, communication skill test, and learning achievement test. This study was a research and development. The procedure of this model consisted of three steps are define, design and develop. The result shows that the mathematics instructional kit is valid with a “good” category. Learning kit that has been developed was practically shown by results of practicality votes by teachers in category “good”, “very good” category based on student’s responses and “very good” category based on the observation of learning implementation. Learning kit that has been developed was effective based on student’s learning mastery. The percentage of students who achieved the mastery level in communication test is 84.38% and in learning achievement test is 81.25%.Keywords: instructional kits, problem-based learning, mathematical communication skills, learning achievement

Mathematical communication skills of students are still relatively low. One learning model can improve students 'mathematical communication skills and at the same time students' mathematical disposition is the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model. The aim to be achieved is to find out the improvement of students 'mathematical communication skills and mathematical disposition using PBL models in terms of students' initial mathematical level. This research is an experimental research design with pretest posttest control group design. The research population was Grade VII students of SMP 9 Langsa. Students are grouped into two classes namely the experimental class and the control class randomly selected from eight parallel classes. The instrument used was a test of mathematical communication skills and a mathematical disposition questionnaire. Data analysis was performed using two-way ANOVA. The results showed that improving students 'mathematical communication ability and students' mathematical disposition by applying PBL learning models is better than students applying conventional learning models. There is no interaction between the PBL learning model with student level on mathematical communication skills and students' mathematical disposition. Abstrak Kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa masih tergolong rendah. Salah satu model pembelajaran dapat meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa dan sekaligus disposisi matematis siswa adalah model Problem Based Learning (PBL). Tujuan yang ingin dicapai ialah untuk mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa dan disposisi matematis menggunakan model PBL ditinjau dari kemampuan awal matematis siswa. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen dengan desain pretest postest control group design. Populasi penelitian adalah siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 9 Langsa. Siswa dikelompokkan menjadi dua kelas yaitu kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol yang dipilih secara acak dari delapan kelas paralel. Instrumen yang digunakan tes kemampuan komunikasi matematis dan angket disposisi matematis. Analisis data dilakukan dengan menggunakan anova dua arah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa dan disposisi matematis siswa dengan menerapkan model pembelajaran PBL lebih baik dari pada siswa yang menerapkan model pembelajaran konvensional. Tidak terdapat interaksi antara model pembelajaran PBL dengan level siswa terhadap kemampuan komunikasi matematis dan disposisi matematis siswa. In fact, the implementation of the teaching-learning process does not train and develop students' communication skills to cause interaction between students, such as working together, expressing ideas, asking questions, and responding to questions / opinions of other students. The teachers have applied the discussion learning model, but this is done with a direct learning model. During the discussion, the teacher only gives a number of assignments to students which contain almost all of the material without giving instructions, so that the students' thinking patterns do not develop and are not stimulated to think critically. This research was conducted at SD Negeri No.030277 Teladan Sidikalang, Sidikalang District, Dairi Regency. The population in this study was all fifth grade students of SD Negeri No.030277 Teladan Sidikalang which consisted of 3 classes totaling 91 students. Class VA as many as 31 students, class VB as many as 30 students, and class V-C as many as 30 students. There is a significant influence between learning (guided discovery learning and direct learning) on students' mathematical communication skills. The effect of the independent variable on changes in the dependent variable is 31.2%, while the remaining 68.8% is influenced by other variables. There is a significant influence between learning (guided discovery learning and direct learning) on students' self confidence. The effect of independent variables on variable changes is 9.6%, while the remaining 90.4% is influenced by other variables.

This study aims to determine the level of communication skills and mathematical creative thinking of junior high school students through tests of straight-line equation questions, and analyze the difficulties of students in solving problems in the matter of straight-line equations. The population in the study were all eighth grade students of Pasundan 1 Junior High School 1 Cimahi with a sample of 9 students in class VIII I who were taken using the proportionate stratified random sampling technique that is by taking samples from each strata proportionally randomly with the provisions of each of the 3 high-ability students , 3 students with moderate ability and 3 low-ability students. The research data was collected through a test of mathematical communication skills based on the indicators of 4 essay questions. The results showed students' mathematical communication skills of 34.4% included in the less category, while for creative thinking ability was 41% including sufficient categories. Based on the answer analysis students have been able to identify elements that are known and asked and stated them in mathematical symbols, able to identify the links between elements / data that are known and asked, only students have not been able to complete mathematical models and determine relevant solutions. Based on the results of the average questionnaire shows that students' self-confidence in mathematics learning can be categorized as being. These results are directly proportional to the results of tests of low mathematical communication skills and creative thinking abilities that are categorized sufficient.

<p>Mathematical communication skills are one of the standard abilities in mathematics learning that students must have. In fact, it was found that the grade 10 students at one of the senior high schools in Kupang were still lacking in communicating both orally and in writing in mathematics learning. They lacked the ability to describe mathematical ideas using written symbols and notations and also lacked the ability to make class presentations using mathematical language. The purpose of this study was to improve students' mathematical communication skills, both written and oral, by applying the Think-Talk-Write method. The method used in this research was classroom action research with the Kemmis and McTaggart model in three cycles. The research instruments used were observation sheets, questionnaires, rubric sheets for oral mathematic communication skills, written mathematical communication skills test sheets, and reflection journals. Based on the results of the analysis, the application of the Think-Talk-Write method can improve mathematical communication ability of grade 10 students at a  senior high school in Kupang. In mathematical communication skills written algebraically or graphically using mathematical terms, the appropriate notation and formula symbols increased by 4.76%. Written communication skill with the arrangement of arguments and generalizations increased by 28.57%. Similarly, the ability to convey mathematical thinking using mathematical language increased by 23.81%. The application of the Think-Talk-Write method can improve students' mathematical communication skills with stages starting from the explanation of the model and learning objectives, the distribution of question worksheets and materials, the think stage, the talk stage, and the write stage.</p><p><strong>BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRACT: </strong>Kemampuan komunikasi matematis merupakan salah satu standar kemampuan dalam pembelajaran matematika yang harus dimiliki siswa. Pada kenyataannya ditemukan bahwa siswa kelas X pada salah satu sekolah menengah atas Kupang masih kurang dalam berkomunikasi baik secara lisan maupun tulisan dalam pembelajaran matematika. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa baik secara tulisan maupun lisan dengan menerapkan metode Think-Talk-Write. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian tindakan kelas dengan model Kemmis dan Mc. Taggart dalam tiga siklus. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu lembar observasi, lembar angket, lembar rubrik kemampuan komunikasi matematis lisan, lembar tes kemampuan komunikasi matematis tertulis, dan jurnal refleksi. Berdasarkan hasil analisis, kemampuan komunikasi matematis tertulis secara aljabar atau grafik yang menggunakan istilah matematika, simbol notasi dan formula baku yang sesuai mengalami peningkatan sebesar 4,76%. Pada kemampuan komunikasi tertulis dengan susunan argumen dan generalisasi mengalami peningkatan sebesar 28,57%. Begitu juga pada kemampuan menyampaikan pemikiran matematis menggunakan bahasa matematis mengalami peningkatan sebesar 23,81%. Sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan metode Think-Talk-Write dapat meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa dengan tahapan mulai dari penjelasan model dan tujuan pembelajaran, pembagian lembar kerja soal dan materi, tahap Think, tahap Talk, dan tahap Write.</p>

This research is based on the problems of many elementary students who have difficulty solving math problems especially those related to students' mathematical communication ability. The purpose of this study is to answer the question whether by Think-Talk-Write method (TTW) can develop student self confidence. The research method used is Classroom Action Research, which consists of 3 learning cycles, each cycle consists of 3 actions. Population in this research is grade 6 student of SD in Bandung City. The instruments used include students' mathematical communication skills such as stories, questionnaires, observation guidelines, interviews and documentation. The quantitative data obtained were analyzed using SPSS 19, while the qualitative data used Miles & Huberman technique. The results showed that there is an increase in self-confidence of students with learning Think-Talk-Write method (TTW). The recommendation in this research emphasizes the learning of Think-Talk-Write method (TTW) as one of the alternative learning method that able to give good benefit and stimulation to the ability and confidence of elementary school students in mathematics learning in accordance with the stages of cognitive development of students.

AbstractBased on previous observations note that the ability of some students' mathematical communication is still lacking. Therefore, it is necessary to improve students' mathematical communication ability by using Predict Observe Explanation (POE) learning model. The purpose of this study is to describe the process of implementing mathematics learning through the Predict Observe Explanation (POE) learning model in an effort to improve students' communication skills. The type of this research is Classroom Action Research (PTK) which consists of two cycles and each cycle is done with 4 stages of planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects of this study are students of class XI SMK Al Hikmah Garut. The results showed POE learning model can improve students' mathematical communication ability with the learning stages: 1) predict: �predicting the temporary answer of the given mathematical problem; 2) observe: observing other similar issues through teacher demonstrations; 3) explanation: presenting predictions and observations.Keywords: Mathematical Communication Skill, Predict Observe Explanation Learning Model

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan perangkat pembelajaran matematika SMP kelas VIII semester genap dengan model problem-based learning berorientasi pada prestasi belajar, kemampuan pemecahan masalah, dan sikap percaya diri siswa. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian pengembangan model Plomp (penelitian awal, pengembangan, penilaian). Subjek penelitian ini adalah guru dan siswa kelas VIII SMP Swasta Katolik Maria Goretti Ende. Analisis data dilakukan dengan mengkonversi data kuantitatif berupa skor hasil penilaian menjadi data kualitatif berupa nilai standar skala lima. Penelitian ini menghasilkan perangkat pembelajaran matematika kelas VIII semester genap berupa RPP dan LKS. Dari hasil validasi ahli, skor penilaian guru, penilaian siswa, observasi keterlaksanaan kegiatan pembelajaran, tes prestasi belajar, tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah, dan angket sikap percaya diri menunjukkan bahwa RPP dan LKS adalah valid, praktis, dan efektif.Kata Kunci: Perangkat pembelajaran, problem-based learning, prestasi belajar, pemecahan masalah, percaya diri Developing Mathematics Learning Kits Using the Problem-Based Learning Model for Grade VIII of JHS in the Even Semester AbstractThis study aimed to produce mathematics learning kits using the problem based learning model oriented to the learning achievement, problem solving skill, and self-confidence for Grade VIII students of the junior high school (JHS) in the even semester. This study was and development study used the development model by Plomp (preliminary study, development, evaluation). The research subjects were teachers and students of Grade VIII of Swasta Katolik Maria Goretti Ende. The analysis of the data was done by converting the quantitative data in the form scores as the results of the evaluation into qualitative data in the form of five-scale standard scores. This study produce mathematics learning kits in the form of lesson plans and student worksheets for Grade VIII students of the junior high school in the even semester. Of the results of expert validation, a teacher evaluation scores, a students evaluation scores, an observation for the implementation of learning activities, a learning achievement test, a problem solving skil test, and a self-confidence questionnaire show that lesson plans (RPP)  and student worksheets (LKS) is valid, practical, and effective.
