The state of the created uranium raw material base, which is the basis of nuclear energy of Ukraine, is characterized. The structure of reserves and resources of uranium ores of domestic objects is analyzed. The state balance accounts for 17 deposits, most of which are represented by low-yield albite-type ores. The level of industrial development of explored uranium-containing objects is considered. At present, the mining industry exploits 4 objects of uranium-sodium formations, which provide only a share of the state’s nuclear power needs. National plans and programs foresee an increase in annual extraction of uranium ores to 3520 thousand tons. Such pace of explored stocks will last for at least 50 years. To expand and strengthen the mineral-raw material base and to achieve the energy independence of the country, it is necessary to replenish it with rich highly profitable ores, the prerequisites of which detection are available within certain promising areas. Provided data on mineral resources and production of uranium in other countries. Ukraine’s place in the world’s balance is shown.

Curent situation of raw material base and study of limestone like construction stone deposits in the Republic of Serbian were relatively poorly considered during the last decades, and the main problems are the following: low production capacity fragmentation of production, needs for raw materials homogenization and delivering of standard quality, undeveloped market, the recession of the domestic economy and the economies in the region, the relatively low level of exploration by many deposits, especially lack of knowledge of the occurrence legality for certain types and quality of raw materials and lack of complete quality indicators for raw material, which sometimes causes the utilization of only the highest quality deposit parts.This paper provides an overview of active quarries in the Republic Srpska with exploitation of limestone like technical building stone and present an attempt to determine the basic quantitative and qualitative characteristics of the raw material and the current working conditions at these quarries. The purpose of such a review would be in an effort to create a clearer picture about production, market, social and other aspects of the limestone exploitation in the Republika Srpska and the realistic possibilities of maintaining and developing of these mineral resources utilization, which can certainlybe interesting for the development of many other industries in the Republic Srpska.

The basis of this publication is the documents and historical facts, materials of meetings, conferences and production reports, memoirs of veterans of the uranium industry, which are published, as well as their own memories, impressions and reflections of the authors whose professional activity was related to the prospect and exploration of uranium deposits. The article deals with successively the main stages of the emergence, development and formation of uranium geology in Ukraine, the solving of complex tasks for the creation and strengthening of the uranium raw material base for the complete provision of the nuclear energy needs of the state by the own mined natural uranium and achievement of energy independence. The history of the uranium raw material base creation in Ukraine is a path for pioneers, who constantly had to solve new strategic tasks promptly. In the first years after the Second World War, these were issues of defensive significance. Then become the turn of the peaceful atomic energy. By the work of the Kirov geological prospecting expedition that specialized on uranium, which was subsequently transformed into the SGE “Kirovgeologiya”, and then SE “Kirovgeologiya”, at the end of the 80th of the XX century a reliable uranium raw material base was created, that could provide state nuclear industry for the long term.

Mineral resources as natural resources constitute the backbone of the development of the nationaleconomy of each country, and their valorization should be classified into its strategic developmentplans. Polyvalent industrial branches of the economy today are unthinkable without adequate supply ofraw materials, analysis of raw material base, their preparation and processing, technology of breedingand possible application.Due to the geological structure of the municipality of Gračanica, carbonate raw materials are one of themost important non-metallic mineral raw materials. In the territory of the municipality of Gračanicathere are numerous areas with deposits of carbonate raw materials (architectural and constructional andtechnical-construction stone), among which the "Sklop" deposit occupies the most important place. Thispaper presents the geological characteristics, types of carbonate raw materials, deposits, reserves,quality and potentiality.


The purpose of the article is using the data of Geoinform of Ukraine on the current state of the mineral resource base of the country, to regionalize its territory by combining explored mineral deposits and production-territorial complexes formed on their basis with a mineral raw material orientation. Research results. The article is written in the context of the constructive-geographical direction of studying the geography of mineral resources, which has been developing in the last decades in Ukraine. In particular, three approaches to regionalization of territorial combinations of mineral deposits are compared and analyzed: geological, economic-geographical and mining, which will contribute to their interconnection in characterizing the mineral-raw materials complexes of individual regions. The authors’ own interpretations of discussion definitions of mining terminology are proposed. Based on the results of previous studies and taking into account the current state of the mineral resource base, economic-geographical and mining zoning of the territory of Ukraine has been carried out for groups of explored mineral deposits. Within Ukraine, four mineral resource zones are allocated: Prydniprovsko-Pryazovska, Eastern Ukrainian, Donetsko-Slovianska and Prykarpatska, as well as several territorially separate structures: Zakarpatskyi, Lvivsko-Volynskyi, Podilskyi, Kerchenskyi, Krymskyi macrodistricts, Zhytomyrskyi and Pobuzkyi districts. A detailed description of the mineral and raw material specifications of these structures and their constituent parts, the features and prospects of their exploitation, the formation of territorial-production complexes of mineral and raw materials orientation are submitted. Scientific novelty. For the first time, various approaches to the regionalization of territorial groupings of mineral deposits and mining territories are compared, the basic definitions of mining regionalization are presented, and on this basis their own variant of zoning the territory of Ukraine on mineral resources is proposed. Practical value. The economic, geographical and mining zoning of the territory of Ukraine according to the forms of concentration of mineral deposits and mining areas will help create the scientific basis for optimizing the structure of the mining industry, ensuring the effective use of mineral raw materials, and developing the country's raw material complex.

Abstract This article is dedicated to the instrument such as raw materials convertible bonds, the application of which in the mining industry can increase the efficiency of mining investments and, consequently, contribute to the improvement of the economic and financial market of mineral resources. Bonds with the option of conversion into raw materials bring relevant benefits to both the investor – the bondholder who buys these bonds, and to the mining company as the issuer. The use of this debt instrument increases the efficiency of mining investments, mainly by lowering the cost of capital in relation to traditional sources and by flexibility of being able to convert the capital debt into raw materials. Due to the fact that the article is illustrative only, and its goal is just to present a relatively new instrument, which are raw materials convertible bonds, the author focused an attention on its possible use in the financing of investments in the mining industry and the potential economic effects of such a solution. In order to identify the likely financial benefits, discussed debt instrument was compared with selected sources of funding, such as ordinary bonds and simple bank loan. Due to this fact, the article doesn’t present the consideration of every aspect associated with the bond that has an option, but is mainly focused on its main attribute, which is the ability to convert debt into raw material. The paper presents the general assumptions regarding the raw materials convertible bonds, the advantages of this solution and the requirements that the issuer of such instrument will have to cope with. The article contains also a diagram showing the use of a raw materials convertible bonds in the tripartite agreement. The final part of the publication shows an example of a calculation comparing the newly presented instrument to the ordinary bonds and bank loans. The summary presents the conclusions of the analysis of the possible use of raw materials convertible bonds as an instrument of financing investments in the mining industry.

Providing the population with consumer goods is one of the state’s main tasks. Therefore, in terms of welfare, development of light industry is a priority. Studying modernization of the light industry in the first half of the 20th century require a regional approach to identify common pattern and peculiarities of territories. The authors draws on previously unpublished archival documents (dating from 1928–40) from the State Archive of the Russian Federation to consider the development of light industry in the Urals during the pre-war five-year plan. The article uses general scientific method and such methods as comparative-historical, system-structural. With their help, it was possible to draw a historically objective picture of the development of light industry in the Urals in 1928–40. The authors focus their attention on the dynamics of production of essential goods in regions and republics of the Urals and identify the most rapidly developing industries. The article reviews the state of material and technical base of the enterprises; the process of reconstruction of the main industries and of equipment renewal. Most factories and plants received new equipment. During the first five-year plans the textile, footwear, and clothing industries were in the lead. However, the rate of production mechanization remained slow. The article introduces into scientific use statistical data on the expansion of light industry enterprises network during the first five-year plan. There were established sewing, saddlery, footwear, textile factories, workshops of individual tailoring. The number of light industry enterprises in the Urals grew from 91 industrial facilities in 1928 to 412 by 1940. The raw material base of light industry of the Urals was insufficient for the growing needs of production. Shortage of raw materials, dependence on numerous suppliers of raw materials, and their territorial remoteness complicated the work of industries, resulting in reduction of the enterprises’ capacity. The results of the study can be used in writing of general works on the development of light industry during the pre-war five-year plans in Russia, and in the Urals in particular.

The article is devoted to modern problems of development of the coal industry in the Siberian Federal district. The article presents an overview of the current condition of the raw material base of the Siberian Federal district (distributed and unallocated subsoil reserve fund), which includes analysis and assessment of reserves and forecast resources of various brands of coal, according to their degree of study and readiness for industrial development. The provision of the coal industry with all categories of reserves and reserves of existing enterprises of the distributed Fund is determined. The problems of developing the mineral resource base of the coal industry are largely related to the objective features of the resource base of the coal industry, as well as to the problems that have accumulated over the past years of industry restructuring. The basis for the development of the fuel and energy complex of the Siberian Federal district should be large coal basins and deposits where coal can be extracted by large sections or mines in conditions that allow the use of high-performance technological complexes.

The book under review is a concise but fairly in-depth study of the prospects for export diversification from the Less Developed Countries (henceforth labeled as LDCs) particularly to Developed Countries (henceforth labeled as OCs). Given the multiple problems faced by the LOCs in exporting to the OCs - protectionist policies with regards to manufactured exports, volatility of prices obtained for raw material exports, etc. - the study analyses the potential for following an intermediate route. The important issues in the export of semi -processed and wholly processed raw materials are discussed. 111ese issues range from the problems and potentials for the location of processing facilities in the LOCs to the formulation of appropriate policies to encourage an export of processed goods rather than raw materials. Such policies will be useful both in solving the balance of-payments problems of the LDCs and in attaining the goal of the Lima Declaration and Plan of Action on Industrial Development and Co-operation, that called for 2S percent of world industrial production to be located in the LOCs by the year 2000.

To use effectively internal raw material base, JSC “Ural Steel” accomplished I category major overhaul of the blast furnace No. 2. The main purpose of the overhaul was to design a rational profile which could ensure an ability to operate with a charge containing 95 % of Mikhailovskii GOK (mining and concentrating plant) pellets having basicity of 0.5 by CaO/SiO2. The blast furnace No. 2 having useful volume of 1232 m3, was constructed by design of Danieli Corus, the Netherlands, and was blown in on December 30, 2020. In the process of guarantee tests, step-by-step increase of Mikhailovskii GOK pellets (Fetotal = 60.5 %, CaO/SiO2 = 0.5) content in the charge iron ore part was being accomplished from 55 to 95.1%. Charging of the blend containing pellets in the amount of 55% of iron ore part, was done by charging system 4OOCC + 1COOCC (Ore - Coke) with filling level 1.5 m. Under conditions of pellets part increase in the blend, the charging system was changed to decrease their content at the periphery, to increase it in the ore ridge zone and make it intermediate between periphery and the ore ridge. At the pellets share in the iron ore raw materials 0.75 the charging system was used as the following: 3OOCC + 1COOC + 1COOCC, while at the content 95.1% the following charging system was used: 2COOC + 2COOC + 1COOCC. It was noted that in the period of guarantee tests the furnace running was smooth. The average silicon content in the hot metal was 0.70% at the standard deviation 0.666. Sulfur content in the hot metal did not exceed 0.024%, the blowing and natural gas consumption figures were 2100 m3/min and 11000 m3/min correspondently, oxygen content in the blowing 26.5%, hot blowing and top smoke pressure figures were 226.5 and 109.8 KPa correspondently. The productivity of the furnace was reached as high as 2358 t/day at the specific coke rate 433 kg/t of hot metal. After guarantee tests completion, the pellets content in the iron ore part was decreased gradually from 95 down to 50%. The decreasing was made by 5% in every 6 hours of operation. Application of the mastered technology of the blast furnace No. 2 with the increased share of pellets will enable to stably supply the blast furnaces No. 1, 3 and 4 by iron ore raw materials in the proportion of 30-35% of pellets and 65-70% of sinter.

Increasing water resistance and mechanical strength of hardening magnesian binders’ products can be achieved by introducing microfillings into a hardening dispersed system. It is shown that serpentine provides an increase strength and water resistance in hydration and hardening process, being as a structure-forming component, it intensifies this process. It allows expanding the raw material base for the production of magnesia binders for construction purposes.
