Hurricanes are the most powerful and largest weather event happening in the air, affecting almost everything in their paths. Their strong winds and heavy rain can directly impact both inland and coastal areas in short periods, usually around a day. Understanding hurricane effects is the first step to preparing for hurricanes. The effects of hurricanes can be comprehensive and long-lasting, even permanent, at the spatial scales of a single molecule to whole ecosystems. Much effort has been made to come up with ways to accurately predict, effectively prepare for, and quickly recover from hurricanes, but their sizes and complexity make this difficult. Multidisciplinary collaborations are required to improve our understanding of hurricanes. Here, we review basic facts of hurricanes and their effects in Florida and speculate on how they might affect Florida’s agriculture and natural resources. Examples and speculations provided in this article demonstrate how weather, agriculture, environment, and ecosystem are connected to each other across spatial scales ranging from microorganisms to an entire landscape.

<p>India is severely affected by tropical cyclones (TC) each year, which generates intense rainfall and strong winds leading to flooding. Most of the TC induced floods have been attributed to heavy rain associated with them. Here we show that both rainfall and elevated antecedent soil moisture due to temporally compounding tropical cyclones cause floods in the major Indian basins. We assess each basin's response to observed TC events from 1980 to 2019 using the Variable Infiltration Capacity (VIC) model. The VIC model was calibrated (R2 > 0.5) and evaluated against observed hourly streamflow for major river basins in India. We find that rainfall due to TC does not result in floods in the basin, even for rainfall intensities similar to the monsoon period. However, TCs produce floods in the basins, when antecedent soil moisture was high. Our findings have implications for the understanding of TC induced floods, which is crucial for disaster mitigation and management.</p>

Direct implications for the development and implementation of environmental protection in the modern business organization in accordance with modern green standards and the principles of environmental sustainability and a company associated with the creation of the organization, program and structure, education and training of human resources will enable the transfer and dissemination of knowledge for environmental protection

Abstract Bioregions are important tools for understanding and managing natural resources. Bioregions should describe locations of relatively homogenous assemblages of species occur, enabling managers to better regulate activities that might affect these assemblages. Many existing bioregionalization approaches, which rely on expert-derived, Delphic comparisons or environmental surrogates, do not explicitly include observed biological data in such analyses. We highlight that, for bioregionalizations to be useful and reliable for systems scientists and managers, the bioregionalizations need to be based on biological data; to include an easily understood assessment of uncertainty, preferably in a spatial format matching the bioregions; and to be scientifically transparent and reproducible. Statistical models provide a scientifically robust, transparent, and interpretable approach for ensuring that bioregions are formed on the basis of observed biological and physical data. Using statistically derived bioregions provides a repeatable framework for the spatial representation of biodiversity at multiple spatial scales. This results in better-informed management decisions and biodiversity conservation outcomes.

<p class="1Body">Rural depopulation is now well acknowledged to be one of the salient challenges faced by Japan (Ohno, 2005; Odagiri, 2006). However, out-migrants that left their village of origin still maintain their bond with the villages through local institutions and natural resources. By taking Mogura village in Hayakawa town, Yamanashi prefecture as a case study, this article discusses relationships between out-migrants and their depopulated village of origin by focusing on local institutions and natural resource management. Data was collected using open ended interview and participant observation methods. The result shows that, although the style of observing has changed, out-migrants play important role in local institutions and assisting resource management of their depopulated village of origin. The institutions still have meaning for out-migrants to keep relationships with their village of origin. Several customs, such as collaborative labor, <em>obon</em>, New Year vacation, and the anniversary of ancestors’ death ceremony, provide scheduled opportunities for out-migrants and residents to get together and good reasons to come to the place of the village of origin. We argue that local institutions and natural resources, although in the process of transformation, can be helpful tools to link out-migrants with villages. We, however, take precaution on whether such role will be transferred to next generation of the out-migrants that are born and are living outside the village of origin of the out-migrants.</p>

&lt;p&gt;Using conventional and unconventional meteorological observation dataes, RMAPS-NOW( RR4DVar cloud model), the severe convective rainstorm occurred over the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei junction area on May 17, 2019 was analyzed. Taking the observation of &amp;#160;Tongzhou 101 farm rainstorm (17: 30-20h precipitation 179.1mm) as an example, the results showed that this server convective rainstorm took place under a weak background, (1) Boundary conditions : The Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei area had high temperature and high humidity. The &amp;#952;se energy front was located in the middle of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei. The CAPE at Beijing Observatory reached 1113 J &amp;#183; Kg-1 at 08h, and correction value reached 2669 J &amp;#183; Kg-1 at 14h. Convection cloud streets appeared around 12 o'clock in the visible image of the Himawari-8 satellite; the southeast wind jet in the boundary layer provided sufficient water &amp;#160;for convection development; at 20 o'clock, sounding showed that the vertical wind shear of 0-6 km increased to 17.5 m &amp;#183; s-1. (2) Trigger conditions: The southeast wind at the rear of the offshore High merged with sea breeze and pushed inland, formed a local convergence line with the local southerly wind in the central part of Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei, and convection occurred at the convergence line and the &amp;#952;se energy front. (3) Tongzhou heavy rain was caused by two convective cells. Cell 1 was generated at the convergence line and the &amp;#952;se front. It developed into a server storm within 1 hour, and the composite reflectivity was &gt; 60dBz. Subsequently, at its downstream (northwest side, the leading airflow is the southeast airflow), Cell 2 developed rapidly, and the two Celles revolved, moved over Tongzhou successively, accompanied by heavy rainfall ,hail and strong winds. (4) RMAPS-NOW data can describe the refined process of cells formation and evolution, that is, the &amp;#952;se field in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region is extremely uneven, even in the &amp;#952;se front area. In the boundary layer convergence line and &amp;#952;se high-energy region, the convective bubble stimulated the formation of cell 1, the airflow spined up, and the development of the convective cell was strengthened. Half an hour later, a single cell was gradually separated into two cells (cell 1 and cell 2) in the upper layer, and the updraft gradually separated from the center into two rotating oblique updrafts. Seen from the echo profile, the two cells were connected by a cloud bridge and rotated clockwise. The convergence line in the boundary connected the two cells and rotated organically.&lt;/p&gt;

On 15 October 1980, a weather system that had been to the west of Colorado was forecast to move into the state, and to bring with it light to moderate snow in the Rockies, and generally light rain and thundershower activity over the plains to the east. In most regions this forecast was adequate. However, substantially heavier activity (including a small tornado, large hail, heavy rain, and snow) also occurred in some areas. In this paper we show how all relevant real-time data, when properly merged, could have enabled formulation of a useful short-term forecast. In addition we point out how mesonet surface data gathered after the fact could have helped narrow down the forecast area of severe weather and heavy precipitation.

<p><strong>Abstract: </strong>Quasi Linear Convective System (QLCS) is one of the phenomena of meso-scale convective weather systems (MCS), which are linear in shape with an unspecified leftime and potentially bad weather in the form of heavy rain and strong winds. This research will identify, analyze, and characterize QLCS in the Pangkalan Bun region, Central Kalimantan, as a research location with a period of March to May 2017 using raw data radar data base of Pangkalanbun type C-Band single polarization type Selex SI Gematronik. Method of research was conducted in a descriptive analysis with a description of the QLCS temporally and spatially. The results showed the most duration was 30-60 minutes. The location of the QLCS formation is dominant in the coastal plain or lowland areas. The type of formation of QLCS is dominant broken line.</p><p><strong>Abstrak: </strong>Quasi Linear Convective System (QLCS) merupakan salah satu fenomena dari sistem cuaca konvektif skala meso atau Mesoscale Convective System (MCS) yang berbentuk linear dengan masa hidup tidak ditentukan dan berpotensi cuaca buruk berupa hujan lebat dan angin kencang. Pada penelitian ini akan mengidentifikasi, menganalisis, dan mengarakteristikan QLCS di wilayah cakupan radar Pangkalan Bun, Kalimantan Tengah sebagai lokasi penelitian dengan jangka waktu bulan Maret sampai Mei tahun 2017 menggunakan raw data radar cuaca Pangkalan Bun tipe C-Band jenis polarisasi tunggal Selex SI Gematronik. Metode yang dilakukan dalam penelitian ini adalah analisis deskriptif produk Column Max (CMAX), Combined Moment (CM), Strom Structure Analysis (SSA), Severe Weather Indicator (SWI), dan Horizontal WInd (HWIND). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan durasi pembentukan QLCS terbanyak terjadi dalam rentang 30-60 menit dengan lokasi pembentukan QLCS dominan pada area coastal plain atau dataran rendah. Tipe pembentukan QLCS dominan broken line dan banyak terjadi di pagi hari.</p>

Bioactive secondary metabolites derived from herbs are examined for their suitability of conversion into nanoforms having flexible morphological controls, surface stabilizations and surface functionalization. This can lead to stable chemical conjugations based on molecular recognition for their possible applications in the form of smart pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, cosmaceuticals and many other related areas of human healthcare using green chemistry routes. Using the principles of nanoscience and technology in association with genomics and proteomics, an attempt has been made to decipher whether a suitable form of drug discovery and targeted drug delivery like schemes are feasible in case of such nano phytochemicals using various kinds of nanosize carriers and labelling molecules already identified in the course of investigations of contemporary single molecule drug developments. Additional efforts can clarify whether such species will be successful in the early detection of diseases based on marker molecules. Once identified, these green phytochemicals will certainly replace many hazardous chemical compounds by their environmentally friendly and sustainable forms in times to come.

The phenomenon of extreme weather, heavy rain and strong winds hit four sub-districts in Probolinggo Regency, East Java on January 3, 2020 at 17.00 WIB. Based on data from the East Java Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), the incidence of heavy rain and strong winds resulted in damage to as many as 204 houses. This study uses remote sensing data in the form of C-Band Radar and Himawari-8 Satellite and Copernicus ECMWF renalysis data. The data is processed into spatial maps and graphs which are then analyzed descriptively. The results of data analysis show that the reflectivity value reaches 43 dBZ and the wind speed reaches 13.57 m / s with a rainfall of 15.83 mm / hour at 10.00 WIB. Based on the analysis of the Himawari-8 Satellite, the peak temperature of the clouds reached -73.1 oC and the atmospheric lability data showed that the atmosphere was unstable, which could indicate the possibility of heavy rain and strong winds. The value of vortices in the 1000 mb - 500 mb layer is negative and the humidity value ranges from 85% - 90% and a positive sea surface temperature anomaly value and the presence of windshields result in convergence of air masses which can support convective cloud growth as the cause of heavy rain events and strong winds in Probolinggo Regency, East Java

In this paper, we examine whether disasters affect social trust levels using South Korean panel data from 2014–2016. We also investigate whether the effects of disasters on social trust differ depending on the type of disaster. We consider four types of disasters: typhoons, heavy rain, heavy snow and strong winds and waves. Our findings show that although all of these disasters influence the level of generalized social trust, each type has separate impacts. In our findings, there is a statistically significant positive relationship between cumulative damage costs per capita and social trust levels for heavy rain, heavy snow and strong winds and waves but we find the opposite result for typhoons. In the disaster recovery process, it is possible for social trust to be strengthened and weakened at the same time. Social trust can develop when victims such as neighbors and firefighters interact with others. Conversely, when a local government responds slowly to a disaster, dissatisfaction and discontent toward it can increase and this could weaken social trust. Moreover, disaster-affected individuals may be more competitive over limited resources, resulting in conflicts among them. Thus, we argue that the net effects of disasters on social trust levels can differ based on the speed of government responses to disasters and on active support for the victims from people such as neighbors.
