Objective: to present the new approach to perform monetary transactions with digital currency. Methods: abstract-logical, analytical methods. Results: in recent years, electronic retail payment mechanisms, especially e-commerce and card payments at the point of sale, have increasingly replaced cash in many developed countries. As a result, societies are losing a critical public retail payment option, and retail consumers are losing important rights associated with using cash. To address this concern, we propose an approach to digital currency that would allow people without banking relationships to transact electronically and privately, including both e-commerce purchases and point-of-sale purchases that are required to be cashless. The article shows the advantages of cash payments compared to non-cash ones and defines the possibility to transform these advantages into the central bank digital currencies. The disputable issues of commercial banks development under the spread of digital currencies are discussed. The architecture of digital currencies is described, including distributed ledgers technology. It was shown that, for the digital currency to function effectively, it is necessary to include the privacy of end-users into its architecture; measures to achieve that are determined.Scientific novelty: the approached proposed in the article should be used to develop the digital currencies infrastructure. It should be government-backed, privately-operated and ensure that every transaction is registered by a bank or money services business, relying upon non-custodial wallets backed by privacy-enhancing technology, such as blind signatures or zero-knowledge proofs, to ensure that transaction counterparties are not revealed. This approach can also facilitate more efficient and transparent clearing, settlement, and management of systemic risk. We argue that our system can restore and preserve the salient features of cash, including privacy, owner-custodianship, fungibility, and accessibility, while also preserving fractional reserve banking and the existing two-tiered banking system.Practical significance: the proposed approach can be applied in the practical organization of perform monetary transactions using digital currencies. The article was first published in English language by Future Internet. The purpose of the article is to study pricing strategies and develop measures to improve the pricing strategy of foreign economic activity on enterprises. Pricing strategy is one of the most important components of the entire enterprise management system, which can affect the main performance indicators of the enterprise. It is a plan for the formation and management of prices in order to remain competitive in the market and achieve the goals and objectives. The implementation of an effective pricing strategy is due to the need to make important pricing decisions in the long run that have an impact on the enterprise. The pricing strategy with a foreign economic orientation becomes especially decisive. In the context of export-import operations, it is important for Ukrainian enterprises, as subjects of foreign economic activity, to plan activities for the long term in order to remain competitive in the foreign market. Foreign economic activity of the enterprise creates the preconditions for its sustainable economic development through the expansion of its activities in international markets and the formation of new sources of income production resources, technologies and modern organization of production. Today in the field of pricing there are many problems that reduce both the efficiency of the economy and the effectiveness of pricing policy enterprises in particular. This necessitates a new approach to formation of the company’s pricing policy and formation of its pricing strategy. The following methods are used in the article: analysis and synthesis, generalization, coefficient and graphical method, comparison method and systematization methods. The result of the study is the formation of ways to solve existing problems in Ukrainian enterprises through introducing the price discounts accumulative system and implementing a combined strategy for the formation of export prices to increase efficiency of the enterprise foreign economic activity. The practical significance of the work lies in the developed measures to address the problems of pricing strategy, which were identified at the enterprises of Ukraine, engaged in foreign economic activity.

Abstract Sustainable economic growth and identifying factors affecting it are among the important issues which have always received attention from researchers of different countries. Accordingly, one of the factors affecting economic growth, which has received attention from researchers in the developed countries over recent years, is the issue of environmental technologies that enter the economic cycle of other countries after being patented through technology transfer. The current research investigated the role of the environment-related patents and the effects of the patented technological innovations compatible with climate change mitigation on the economic growth and development in the Middle East countries within a specific time period. The required data were gathered from the valid global databases, including Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development and World Bank and have been analyzed using multi-linear regression methods and econometric models with Eviews 10 software. The obtained results with 95% confidence level show that the environmental patents (β = 0.02) and environment management (β = 0.04) and technologies related to the climate change mitigation (β = 0.02) have a significant positive impact on the sustainable economic development and growth rate in the studied countries. Such a study helps innovators and policymakers in policy decisions related to sustainable development programs from the perspective of environmentally friendly technologies by demonstrating the role of patents in three important environmental areas, namely environmental management, water-related adaptation and climate change mitigation, as one of the factors influencing sustainable economic growth.

This study aims to explore the barriers to evidence based practice (EBP) experienced by nurses working in a Maldivian healthcare organisation. A total of 400 questionnaires were distributed to nurses in 5 healthcare facilities and 198 completed questionnaires were returned. The results of this study show that the perceived barriers by the nurses in the Maldives are not significantly different from those reported in developed countries. For healthcare organisations in the Maldives, it is necessary to have a clear understanding of the barriers and facilitators to research practice in order to implement EBP. The study showed that the major barriers to research use were that “the relevant literature is not compiled in one place,” there is “insufficient time on the job to implement new ideas,” and “administration will not allow implementation.” The key facilitating factors for EBP include support, encouragement, and recognition by the management and administration. The findings of this study can be useful for determining strategies that can be introduced in the clinical setting to use EBP. Healthcare organisations must continue their support in order to decrease the barriers and optimise care in healthcare facilities.

Subject. The article addresses the non-banking financial intermediation (shadow banking system) as it is successfully expanding nowadays both in developed countries and emerging economics. Objectives. The study aims at conducting a comprehensive analysis of the specifics of non-banking financial intermediation, revealing its impact on economic agents’ activities, causes and consequences, and elaborating the methodological framework for effectiveness of modern monetary policy. Methods. I employ methods of scientific abstraction, induction, deduction, synthesis, and comparative analysis. Results. In the modern national economy, along with the money, created by the central bank and commercial banks, there are highly liquid financial instruments called shadow money. The scope of its application is shadow banking (financial intermediation) outside the banking system. The use of shadow money is caused by high demand for credit resources. Conclusions. The high activity of shadow banking and increased turnover of shadow money resulted from a transfer to Basel standards of banking regulation in the 1990s, which affected the lending activity of commercial banks. Under these conditions, the demand for loans provided by non-bank credit and financial institutions increased. The market of non-bank credit products was formed. However, the process of lending in the shadow banking is associated with high risks and non-stability of shadow money, widely used in this sphere.

The article presents the author’s approach to assessing the risks of corporate and financial security of the region. The purpose of the article is to develop, substantiate and test the author’s approach to assessing and measuring risks of corporate and financial security at the meso-level. The research used methods such as indicative method, comparison method, analysis, synthesis. The paper analyzes conceptual approaches to the concept of security risk, examines the distinctive characteristics of the definition of “risk” from the concepts of “threat” and “danger”. Further, the author examines the issue of the list of main risks in the field of corporate financial security, as a result of which a risk system is proposed that includes 7 main risks, which are assessed using a methodology based on the synthesis of an indicative approach and a minimax method using a normalizing function and a 100-point scale. For each of the risks, indicators are selected, and their threshold values are justified, which are used for comparison with the actual values of indicators, on the basis of which the level of risk is measured. Approbation of the approach proposed in the article was carried out on the example of the Komi Republic. As a result of the risk diagnostics, significant risks of the corporate and financial security of the region were identified, and some recommendations were proposed for solving the problem of improving the conditions for doing business in the region. The obtained results of the work can be used by public authorities in solving the problems of public administration and monitoring the risks of the corporate and financial security of the region.

The literature identifies three main types of peer associations: cliques, crowds, and dyadic friendships. When schools create learning communities, an additional type of peer association may emerge that is not based on interactions but instead is based on membership in a shared community. The aim of this study is to qualitatively explore the nature and characteristics of this association, labeled peer bonds. Observational data (n=432) and semi-structured interviews (n=33) were collected in two urban high schools over the course of three academic years. Data were analyzed using the constant comparison method. Findings suggest that there are six characteristics of peer bonds: investment in peer success, shared identity, shared values, pedagogical caring, shared success, and shared failure. The scholarly significance of this study is the expansion of theoretical conceptualizations of peer associations in learning communities while the practical significance is the potential use of a largely underutilized source for academic interventions, peers, by creating school community.
