The aim of the article is to analyze the tense and conflictive process of legitimizing intangible cultural heritage (ICP) in order to enhance its value, which, in Mexico, goes through a dispute between the intention of obtaining the maximum commercial use and the best way to protect it. This leads to a political arena in which the different ways of conceiving the management of the ICP and what is expected of it struggle. Frequently, a collision between the interests that move the community to participate and the powers that be motivated by profit. Therefore, the defense of the PCI has to resolve the contradictions between the logic of cultural valuation and the economic valuation. We review how this dispute has unfolded in some communities and localities in Mexico regarding asset activation. Our report illustrates the processes of patrimonialization - the process of construction of the meaning and meaning of the cultural manifestations of the people. We also show various conjugations of the political, economic and social uses of intangible cultural heritage, as well as the effects derived from litigation.

The people of Azerbaijan have created a rich and different culture, an important part of which is decorative and applied art. It can be said that the growing interest of young creative people in batik over time is the greatest support for the preservation of our national customs and traditions. Continuing the traditions of this art in their future activities is an indication that Azerbaijani national art and batik will always be in the center of attention. Considering that the art of kalagai is a UNESCO non-profit organization under the title "Traditional kalagai art and symbolism, preparation and use of women's silk headdresses". The Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage was included in the 9th session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage in Paris on November 24-28, 2014, and therefore in modern times batik and kalagai are already of interest to local scholars as well as foreign scholars. was. As we know, the breadth of opportunities created by art in the modern era, many artists express their individual style in different ways. Among such artists there are currently working batik masters. This is the part of the book where we try and tie things together in an effort to be optimistic about how we can improve the current situation for people who arrive in Valdemingómez. It would normally start with a deep methodological reflection about how we have advanced knowledge before discussing how innovative our methods were. We would then discuss the main findings of the book in relation to the theory outlined before making some comments on policy improvements and recommendations so we can avoid such situations of desperate poverty and fatalistic drug use. Perhaps lots of academics do this so they can feel good about their work, or maybe its more about closure on it. Or maybe its more that they feel obliged to write something which will in fact change nothing; like for example, that we need to make more investment in harm reduction. Aside from being really obvious, given the current political and economic climate this is unlikely to happen. Even a significant budget increase to the harm reduction team would be at best be tokenistic and in any case such gestures would anyway obfuscates the real and meaningful change which needs to take place to the political, economic and social landscape so that Valdemingómez and the people in that space do not end up destroying themselves.

AbstractThis article considers the measures being taken in Bhutan to support the cultural practices and traditions of weaving as Bhutan rapidly moves to modernize. Woven cloth is one of a number of artisan practices in Bhutan that contribute to a unique body of intangible cultural heritage, and a distinctive and instantly recognizable Bhutanese identity. Cloth and cloth production have come to have significant influence on the cultural, socioeconomic and political, as well as the ceremonial and religious life of the people of Bhutan. However with modernization and an increasingly global outlook, many socioeconomic transformations are taking place, challenging traditional cultural practices to remain relevant and viable to younger generations. Bhutan offers a unique case study as a country engaging only relatively recently with globalization after a long history of cultural isolation. Bhutan also offers up a unique policy response to modernization, its Gross National Happiness (GNH) measure, which attempts to embody a strong social, cultural, and environmental imperative within the development process. This article will analyze the various measures taking place to maintain cultural identity and cultural practices within the context of development policy and practice, and will link this discussion to measures and approaches taking place at an international level by agencies such as UNESCO.

The Pacific Northwest has become the site of a bitterly fought struggle over the future of the remaining 10% of the region's ancient, or “old growth,” forests. The remaining stands of these forests are important components of the local economy and of the region's ecology. The article begins with a brief description of the economic and ecological crises which are now coming to fruition as a result of the loss of 90% of these forests. It then provides a description of the cultural heritage and sense of community which is being lost in the small, timber-dependent communities of the region—a social crisis resulting from the economic and ecological crises. In conclusion, the article argues that all of these crises should be understood as resulting from the political, economic, and historical circumstances which facilitated the emergence of the largest and wealthiest timber ownership.

The article treats one of A. F. Kerenskii’s most important speeches, the speech of 29 April 1917, known to historians for its reference to ‘rebellious slaves.’ It examines the speech’s political significance by reconstructing its reception and political currency and by analyzing its effect on the revolution’s political culture. The article compares variants of the speech as reported in the political press, resolutions and collective letters printed in the press, and also Kerenskii’s personal documents bearing on the speech. The article demonstrates that Kerenskii’s speech was a part of his tactical effort to create a coalition government on conditions favorable to him. The speech had a major impact on the political rhetoric of the revolutionary epoch, with various participants in the political arena manipulating Kerenskii’s reference to ‘rebellious slaves’ for their own purposes. The address contributed to the formation of a personality cult, built on Kerenskii’s image as ‘leader of the people.’

Hugo Chávez appeared and emerged in Venezuela under political-economic crisis. This article argues that his power struggle supported by the people because Chavez vision and mission are to favour the people inrerest, and he takes care about people. . Chave political project, as stated Ellner as non- revolutionary path of radical populism, expressed through various political program missions, namely to encourage social revolutionary program, but not in the political project of the revolution, at least during the Chávez powers throughout 1998-2006. However, Ellner mentioned that non- revolutionary path of radical populism can also lead to revolutionary-path, meaning that political poryek Chávez is still unfinished and still possible to reach a variety of changes, whether the "Bolivarian Revolution" will take the form of non-revolutionary transformation, or even revolutionary- path.

This paper is a reflection of the peace agreement between the Free Aceh Movement and the Government of Indonesia from 2005 to 2018. There have been improvement after a decade but there are still challenges that must be realized. The Helsinki Memorandum of Understanding (known as Helsinky peace agreement) on 15 August 2005 resulted a consensus that Aceh could have greater rights than before, as stipulated in the Law on Governing Aceh number 11/2006. Thus, Aceh has more authorities to redefine the political, economic, social and cultural status in the Republic of Indonesia system. This paper attempts to analyze this problem through a historical description of the movement of the Acehnese people, in the hope of contributing to increasing understanding of the concept of the Helsinki peace agreement in the context of sustainable peace and welfare improvement for the people of Aceh

The convention concerning the protection of cultural and natural heritage only emphasizes the protection of tangible cultural heritage. However, the present convention completely turned a blind eye and a deaf ear to the intangible cultural heritage. “Cultural heritage” as a term and its content are largely taken from other fields like anthropology and archaeology. The legal aspect of cultural heritage is most complex and difficult to understand. There also exist elements of intangible culture which would include songs or folklore musical traditions, ceremonial or ritual traditions, aspects of the life of ancient societies, and any special relationship between the people and the land that they inhabited. With the term property also comes the idea of assigning the artifact a market value whereas they are historically priceless. Cultural heritage has been made global and a part of universal heritage or “common heritage of mankind.”
