The objectives of this research are to describe the types of borrowing word and to find out the dominant type of borrowing words found in “I Fine Thank You Love You” movie. This research is descriptive qualitative research. Descriptive research tries to present the problem clearly based on the accurate data, explaining and describing the topic of a problem based on the theory used. From the analysis, it is found that there are two types of borrowing word found in “I Fine Thank You Love You” movie, they are pure and naturalized borrowing. In pure borrowing, there are 43 data or 38.39 %. While, in naturalized borrowing, there are 69 data or 61.61 %. It shows that pure borrowing shows high percentage than naturalized borrowing. In pure borrowing, a word purely taken from the source language (SL) into the target language (TL) without changing any letters. While, in naturalized borrowing, a word can be naturalized to fit the spelling rules in the target language (TL) so the readers can understand easily what the word means

This objective of the research is to classify the types of translation technique from English to Indonesian subtitle, to determine the most dominant type of translation technique of English to Indonesian subtitle of “Crazy Rich Asian” movie. This research is descriptive qualitative research. It presents the problem clearly based on the most accurate data, explaining and describing the topic of a problem based on the theory used. The technique of collecting data used is documentation. There are 8 types of translation techniques found in the subtitle Crazy Rich Asian movie. The type of translation techniques used are Shift/Transposition as 72 data or 19.46 %, Literal as 70 data or 18.92 %, Established Equivalence as 62 data or 16.76 %, Reduction/Omission as 53 data or 14.32 %, Borrowing as 52 data or 14.05 %, Addition/Amplification as 30 data or 8.11 %, Modulation as 26 data or 7.03 % and Adaptation as 5 data or 1.35 %. While the most dominant type of translation technique of English to Indonesian subtitle of “Crazy Rich Asian” movie is shift/transposition.

The objectives of this research are to analyze the types of translation procedures of phrasal verb in the movie Finding Dory subtitle by Andrew Staton and describe the skewed information of phrasal verb found in the target language. The type of this research belongs to  descriptive qualitative research. The data of the research are sentences containing phrasal verbs in the movie subtitle entitled Finding Dory. The method of collecting data was documentation method and note taking technique and the data were analyzed by comparing phrasal verbs between the source language and target language in the Movie Finding Dory subtitle. The result of this study shows that the types of translation procedures mostly used are transposition and modulation. There is skewed information found in the translation of phrasal verbs. From the result of the study, it can be concluded that there are differences in terms of structural formation of words between the source and the target language, different perspectives between two languages, and in translating between SL and TL resulting in the skewed information which is not the exact equivalent of the SL. It also causes distortion in the message.

The objectives of the research were to describe the types of speech acts used in televised political debates of governor candidates of North Sumatera, to derive the dominant type of speech acts used in televised political debates of governor candidates of North Sumatera and to elaborate the way of five governor candidates of North Sumatera use speech acts in televised political debates. This research was conducted by applying descriptive qualitative research. The findings show that there were only four types of speech acts used in televised political debates, Debat Pemilukada Sumatera Utara and Uji Publik Cagub dan Cawagub Sumatera Utara, they were assertives, directives, commissives and expressives. The dominant type of speech acts used in both televised political debates was assertives, with 82 utterances or 51.6% in Debat Pemilukada Sumatera Utara and 36 utterances or 41.37% in Uji Publik Cagub dan Cawagub Sumatera Utara. The way of governor candidates of North Sumatera used speech acts in televised political debates is in direct speech acts, they spoke straight to the point and clearly in order to make the other candidates and audiences understand their utterances.   Keywords: Governor Candidate; Political Debate; Speech Acts

This study aims to find the translation techniques used by the translator in translating sentences of the bilingual destination map. The researchers used descriptive qualitative method to describe the translation techniques applied in the bilingual destination map “Peta Wisata Jawa Tengah” which is translated into “Central Java Tourist Map”. This study starts by finding the problem, collecting data, classifying data, analyzing data, and drawing the conclusion. The mostly used in translation techniques is literal translation technique to make the translation work clear for the tourists domestic even international. This technique is used when the target language (TL) is applied through the sentence without observing the differences of context or meaning in the source language (SL), whereas the discursive creation and description are rarely used.

This study analyzed the structure shift that occurred in English-Indonesian translation. This study employed the descriptive qualitative approach. Data that were found in this research were sentences in the Indonesian translation version of Pragmatics written by George Yule. The textbooks were the source of the data, one as a source language which is English version, another as a target language in Indonesian version. The textbook entitled Pragmatics by George Yule was as a source language, and Its translation which entitle Pragmatik as a target language. The data were collected using document analysis, and data sheet that used to categorize the types of structure shift. There are 70 structure shifts found from the data that were collected and analyzed. There are three types of structure shift. The structure shift of addition appeared 13 times, Omission appeared 21 times, and the structure shift of Head Modifier to Modifier Head in phrase of the sentences in source language and target language appeared 36 times.

The research aimed to explore the problems and the solutions in translating proverbs in the SL into the TL. This research applied a qualitative research and supported by cultural and translation analyses. The data were collected from the dialogues of Ngapul and Yerti in the film of “Mate ras Mate”. The Karonese proverbs in the MRM film texts were the source language (SL). The researchers translated the SL and found out their equivalents in the target language (TL) in English. The data for this research were gathered from its film text. After collecting the proverbs in film, the researchers identified and translated them into English. The researchers applied the translation procedures of cultural equivalent, paraphrase, descriptive equivalent, and literal translation method to translate the proverbs in the SL into the TL. The result shows that many Karonese proverbs and cultural terms in the SL have no equivalent in the TL.

One of indications of the success in poetry translation is source language (SL) rhyme and meaning can be transferred into target language (TL) simultaneously. However, sometimes rhyme translation shift cannot be avoided to keep the meaning of SL. This is a qualitative descriptive research that aims to explore rhyme shift and its effect toward translation meaning accuracy. The data were SL-TL rhymes pairs found in eight poems translated by Taufiq Ismail. The analysis result showed that there were various rhyme shifts, including fixed rhymes, partial shift rhymes, and full shift rhymes. Accurate rhyme shifts (without any type rhyme shift) happens on more than a half of entire data. The shifts found were not influence the accuracy of poem meaning. Basically, those were developed as an effort to preserve poems message as a part of universal literature piece.

The research was aimed at investigating categories of Indonesian cultural terms translated into English, explaining techniques of applied translation, and analyzing foreignization and domestication ideologies applied in the translations of Indonesian cultural terms into English in the novel Gadis Pantai that translated into The Girl from the Coast. This research was conducted through descriptive-qualitative approach. The data were collected through document analysis including content analysis and thematic analysis. The results show that there are five categories of cultural terms identified in the novel which are translated by using 16 techniques of translation, including the applications of single and double techniques of translation. In addition to foreignization and domestication ideologies of translation, it is also revealed that there is also partial foreignization and partial domestication ideologies of translation since some of the Indonesian identified cultural terms are translated through combinations of two different techniques of translation; combinations of source-language- and target-language-oriented techniques of translation. The most frequently-applied ideology of translation is domestication (82,20%), followed by foreignization (9,82%), as well as partial foreignization and partial domestication (7,98%).

The research was focused on the topic about Dialect caused by in Interaction between Sellers and Buyers at Pasar Rame Medan. This study was aimed at identify the dominantly types dialectcaused by and realize the dialect that used in interaction between sellers and buyers at Pasar Rame Medan. The source of data was taken from the conversation between sellers and buyers at Pasar Rame Medan that used dialect. The data were collected by using recording technique. Instrument for collecting the data is using tipe recording. The technique for analyzing the data is descriptive qualitative research. The result of this research was types of dialect caused by can be found are, Geographical (33,33%), Socio-Economic Status (SES) (36,66%), Age(23,33%), and Sex (6,66%).The most dominant type of dialect that used in interaction between sellers and buyers at Pasar Rame Medan is Socio-Economic Status with percentage 28.80% .Realize of the dialect that found in interaction between sellers and buyers at Pasar Rame Medan  were made possible by some factors: Phonology (pronounce, stress, tone and pitch) , lexicon and grammatical aspects. Keywords: Dialect, Phonology

This research uses descriptive qualitative research which aimed to find the cranberry morphemes and the applications in Mark Twain’s selected works entitled The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. Cranberry morpheme is a morpheme that occurs in only one word and it can be thought of as a bound root that occurs in only one word. The bound roots are often foreign borrowings that were free in the source language, but not free in English. Documentation method used to collect the data. Translational identity method used to analyze the data because the research involves other language which is Latin. Some theories are employed to analyze the data, such as Carstairs-McCarthy (2002) and Denham (2010). The result shows that there are 12 Latin-derived cranberry morphemes found:-ceiv, –sum, -mit, -duc, -serv, -scrib, -tain, -fer,-vert, -ced, -lat, and –vok which -ceiv is the dominance and 3 non-Latin-derived cranberry morphemes found: twi-, -kemp and hap- which twi- is the dominance. The applications of cranberry morphemes occur with and without affix which are suffixes -ed, -er, -ing, and -s. The suffix -ed is the most frequently used suffix of the cranberry morpheme application.
