Eco-design, a new stage in product development, has been gaining in importance for some years already. Against this backdrop, a series of studies was conducted aimed principally to assess envi- ronmental maturity of enterprises reflected in considering environmental aspects at early stages of product design when decisions are made, inter alia, as to materials that will be used, production technologies, and product durability. With regard to the above stated goal, the following actions have been recommended as necessary: at the theoretical level, identifying prerequisites against which we can assess the degree of environmental maturity using the reconstruction methodology and subject-matter literature review; at the project level, developing a research tool in the form of an evaluation sheet as a product of the exploration of writings and discussions held by a purpose- fully selected group of experts; and at the empirical level, identification of the eco-maturity degree of agricultural machinery manufacturers. In the context of the above stated goal, it seems justified to plan the studies based on literature review, expert knowledge, creative discussion, and direct interviews with selected representatives of the industry covered by the research. To managers, these studies having solid theoretical foundations should provide grounds for evaluation and inspire them to build their own eco-design strategies.

The back lane is often associated with annoying, disgusting, narrow and dark. This paper concerns the use of the back lanes of the old shop houses in China Town, Kuala Lumpur.  The instruments used in collecting data include observation, unstructured interview and literature review.  The use and physical characteristics of back lanes were identified.  It was found that the back lanes of China Town in Kuala Lumpur showed the success of turning back streets into lively alleys.  Thus, the back lane could be considered as part of urban design strategies and not as leftover spaces.© 2016. Summary The main aim of this paper is to develop a model of key technical dynamic capabilities providing implementation flexibility of manufacturing companies of the Polish agricultural sector. Achieving the main target required to formulate sub-targets, to which the following have been included: the query of subject literature remaining in a direct relation to the topic of the research, which, in the authors’ intention, will find its expression in the developed definition of technical dynamic capabilities. At the design level, it is essential to search for the answer to the question: what technical capabilities imply dynamic flexibility of the Polish manufacturers of the agricultural machinery sector?, while, at the empirical level, to prioritize individual technical dynamic capabilities and determine what deficiencies in this area are characteristic for the studied companies.

Research on snap bean seed production is essential for this crop to compete against other species that have better production technologies. This study aimed to select a physiological quality evaluation test for snap beans to improve progeny selection strategies. The experiment was conducted in the Seed Analysis Laboratory at the Federal Institute of Goiano, campus Iporá-GO. Seed from thirteen progenies were evaluated for physiological quality from a breeding program conducted by the genetic breeding department of the State University of Goiás, campus Ipameri. Seeds were evaluated for moisture content, thousand-seed weight, biometry (length, width, and thickness), germination, seedling vigor classification, length and seedling dry mass, emergence in the field, and emergence speed index of seedlings in the field. The genetic variability in the evaluated characteristics indicated that genetic breeding can contribute to a better performance in snap bean seed physiological quality. The germination test, vigor classification, emergence, and emergence speed index of seedlings can be used to design strategies for snap bean population selection that produces more productive seeds.

Based on the extensive literature review and original observations, a detailed analysis of the modern geographical distribution of pasture forage associations of the European white stork Ciconia ciconia ciconia with large herbivorous mammals and agricultural machinery is presented. Associations of the white stork with land and harvesting agricultural machinery are evaluated as anthropogenic modifications of forage behavior. The historical and geographical aspect of the origin of feedingr associations of the white stork with wild herbivorous mammals and livestock is considered. The hypothesis of independent African, Middle Eastern and European origin of pasture forage associations of the white stork is proposed.

Recent years have seen a rise in the importance of virtual and real-life knowledge sharing communities and communities of practice across many fi elds of private and commercial interest, including professional translation. This article examines the characteristics of knowledge sharing communities in general, identifies their key elements, looks at the motivation for membership and presents an empirical study of life in a thriving virtual translation community. In doing so, it draws on the results of a literature review combined with a participant observation based study and member survey of a major virtual translation community. The results indicate that virtual translation communities can be lively platforms and offer translators a forum not only for sharing expert knowledge and collaborating, but also for keeping in touch with like-minded individuals.

AbstractWith the rapid growth of population, the global impact of solar technology is increasing by the day due to its advantages over other power production technologies. Demand for solar panel systems is soaring, thus provoking the arrival of many new manufacturers. Sale dealers or suppliers face an uncertain problem to choose the most adequate technological solution. To effectively address such kind of issues, in this paper we propose the Fermatean fuzzy soft expert set model by combining Fermatean fuzzy sets and soft expert sets. We describe this hybrid model with numerical examples. From a theoretical standpoint, we demonstrate some essential properties and define operations for this setting. They comprise the definitions of complement, union and intersection, the OR operation and the AND operation. Concerning practice in this new environment, we provide an algorithm for multi-criteria group decision making whose productiveness and authenticity is dutifully tested. We explore a practical application of this approach (that is, the selection of a suitable brand of solar panel system). Lastly, we give a comparison of our model with certain related mathematical tools, including fuzzy and intuitionistic fuzzy soft expert set models.

The objective of this study was to examine empirically the influence of e-government practices on good governance from the perspectives of public in Lebanon. This paper presents a theoretical research framework to determine the relationships between the proposed variables supported by literature review from previous studies. Questionnaires were distributed among managers and employees from 600 SMEs in Beirut and the usable response rate was 94%. To test the relationships, four hypotheses were developed in which two were accepted and two were rejected upon data analysis using SPSS and AMOS. The main research outcomes indicate that in general, e-government practices have a positive and significant influence on good governance. Particularly, good governance is positively and significantly influenced by e-service but not by e-administration and e-procurement. Finally, limitations of the study were discussed for recommending future studies especially at the empirical level.
