The COVID-19 pandemic has placed us all in front of an existential mirror: Who am I? Who are we, as a society, as a species, as a planet? Many of the old anthropocentric habits based on the foundational myth of human mastery of the world no longer work. The Anthropocene, and all the related environmental emergencies that are happening, are co-caused by the unbalance created by human unsustainable practices of living, behaving and trading. We are at the forefront of a paradigm shift, which is calling all of us to action. Academics have the duty to confront themselves on these issues: Thinking must be followed by actual change. The actualization can be challenging and intense, but is also cathartic, regenerative and empowering. In this text, we will address compelling questions for the 21st century, related to posthuman economics and emerging technologies, sustainable ways of living and existential praxis.

Monasticism is a social and religious phenomenon that originated in antiquity, which remains relevant in the 21st century. Monasticism: A Very Short Introduction discusses the history of monasticism from the earliest evidence for it, and the different types that have developed. It considers where monasteries are located around the world, and how their settings impact the everyday life and worldview of the monks and nuns who dwell in them. Exploring how monastic communities are organized, this VSI also looks at how all aspects of life are regimented. Finally, it discusses what the stories about saints communicate about monastic identity and ethics, and considers what place there is for monasticism in the modern world.

BACKGROUND: Historically, every century has a remarkable event for which it is known. These events, apart from giving a peculiar identity to a century, influences the religious, political, and socio-economic lives of the people. Apparently, the underlying element in the plurality of the world-views of the people of a century is the peculiar events of their time. In this light, the 21st century is identical with globalization. METHODOLOGY: The study used a qualitative design. The methods used were historical, expository, and critical. The historical method was used to trace some centuries before the 21st century to examine their various understandings and approaches to the concept of humanity. The expository method was used to dissect the various anchors of humanity to see the relevance of a redefinition of humanity in the modern times. Finally, the critical method was used to access the 21st century humans to know the expediency for a paradigm shift on the concept of humanity in the modern times. RESULT: This paper argues that aside the positive effects of globalization, there is an urgent need to redefine the meaning of humanity that is already defaced by its inherent activities. CONCLUSION: This research recommends that an ethical redress in the understanding of humanity in the face of today’s globalization is expedient to promote reverence for human lives. This will help to avoid the collapse of this century into a game of exploitation of each other, the dead end of narcissism and invariably the dark age of a modern time.

This thesis outlines main causes and consequences of terrorism in the world and specifically in Iraq. The hypothesis of the thesis is that terrorism is the phenomenon that created a lot of impacts in Iraq. Global terrorism in the 21st century has become one of the biggest domestic and international challenges for Iraq. It summarizes transformation of terrorism and the impacts that mark how it is evolved. Terrorism can backfire to a certain level in the political aims of terrorist factions and also reduce the willingness to make territorial and political concessions by targeted population. The evidence of terrorism effectiveness is somehow sparse. The nature of terrorism is being manifested clearly in our everyday life based on the number of victims it claims. The term “terrorism” stated since during the French Revolution in 1789, by the new region to consolidate its powers and intimidate all opponents. Most of the members of the regime were equally strong patriots of the old monarchy. The term was totally of a different connotation and was associated with the purpose of maintaining justice and democracy against the old order which was perceived to be tyrannical and corrupt. Terrorism for decades has always been a method in which the weak could use to overcome the oppressive and powerful. The researcher of this thesis is trying to identify the main causes of this terrorism that has increase so rapidly around world, especially Iraq after a War on Terror was declared by US and UK. Additionally, this thesis outlines how Iraq and international community policy-makers have responded to the challenges in the region. Terrorism poses a significant threat to the security in open societies and it inflicts grave harm upon modern economies and civilians. Problems in Iraq can bring tremendous consequences for the broader "war on terror".

La primera parte del artículo trata de los procesos climáticos que amenazan el medio ambiente y la vida cotidiana de la población, y que pueden ser importantes para la formación del futuro del marketing. Hay una relación estrecha entre el cambio climático y el consumismo que estimula la investigación sobre la responsabilidad y la sostenibilidad del consumo. La segunda parte del artículo trata de esbozar las nuevas tendencias posibles en la teoría y en la práctica del marketing que son necesarias para enfrentar las cambiantes necesidades medioambientales.<br /><br />In the last four decades quite a lot of scientific studies have been published about those dangerous signs which threaten the future of our world. These manifests have only slightly affected the field of marketing; no paradigm shift has taken place. The first part of the paper deals with climate processes threatening the environment and the everyday life of the population, and which may be important in shaping the future of marketing. There is a strong relation between climate change and consumerism enforcing the research about the responsibility and sustainability of consumption. The second part of the study tries to outline those possible new trends in the theory and practice of marketing which are necessary to meet the changing environmental needs.</p>

Exorcism is a theological term which has engaged the minds of some New Testament Scholars in recent times atleast in last three decades. It is a universal phenomenon. Research has discovered that some churches especiallyorthodox ones have not paid much cognizance to this aspect of Jesus’ ministry. This paper is an attempt to investigatewhat exorcism is and how is this ministry being addressed by the contemporary church using St. Mark’s narratives asthe framework. Humans daily demands for a paradigm shift by the church to also engage in deliverance ministryinstead of the focus on “prosperity message.” The Church should be aware that prosperity message can not havedesired effect until lives of humans enjoy maximal health that can make life worthy living. Jesus in St. Mark’sGospel showed examples of how and what the Church of God should address on the presence of evil spirits ordemonic forces in the world of evil that is ravaging the lives of many within God’s creation. This paper tried toidentify salient areas of concern in addressing the issue of exorcism especially in the 21st Century Church. The realityof the existence of evil spirits and demonic forces which cannot be contended. If human person needs to achieve hisdestiny in life according to God’s purpose, then issues that can hinder the fulfilment of that destiny should be keenlyaddressed by individuals or the church to whom the gift of exorcism is deposited.

This paper presents the case of psychology from a perspective not widely recognized by the West, namely, the Egyptian, Arab, and Islamic perspective. It discusses the introduction and development of psychology in this part of the world. Whenever such efforts are evaluated, six problems become apparent: (1) the one-way interaction with Western psychology; (2) the intellectual dependency; (3) the remote relationship with national heritage; (4) its irrelevance to cultural and social realities; (5) the inhibition of creativity; and (6) the loss of professional identity. Nevertheless, some major achievements are emphasized, and a four-facet look into the 21st century is proposed.

In the 21st century, the world became a sign of globalization: global conflicts, global disasters, global economy, global Internet, etc. The Polish researcher Casimir Zhigulsky defines globalization as a kind of process, that is, the target set of characteristic changes that develop over time and occur in the modern world. These changes in general are reduced to mutual rapprochement, reduction of distances, the rapid appearance of a large number of different connections, contacts, exchanges, and to increase the dependence of society in almost all spheres of his life from what is happening in other, often very remote regions of the world.
