Will Online Banking Sustain in Bhutan Post Covid-19? A Quantitative Analysis of The Customer E-Satisfaction and E-Loyalty in The Kingdom of Bhutan

Online Banking has received a boost during Covid 19. It is believed that the cultured sector of the population has quickly adopted online banking since the outbreak of the virus. Online banking not only provides a platform for performing financial transactions but also acts as a medium of communication between the bank and the customer. Unlike rest of the world, perception of online banking came slightly late in the Kingdom of Bhutan, which already had a good network of banking access points for its populace, enabling the physical banking. However, due to lockdown observed in the aftermath of Covid-19, the online banking has established development in the country. In the present study, the researchers have confidence in that if the customer satisfaction can be ensured amongst the existing users of the online banking, then they will become dependable to such platform and would continue even in the post Covid-19 time. This study is imperative as the banking system of Bhutan has spent a significant number of resources in obtaining and implementing the online banking system, and sustainability of the system will be a point of concern for the decision makers.

One of the Sharīʿah’s requirements in conducting transactions is realising the Maqāṣid al-Sharīʿah. The Modern online banking system is very common to everyone, so it is considered as al-ʿUrf or al-ʿādah (common practice or custom) under the Sharīʿah. However, its practice is surrounded with security concerns, ease of use, and trust and cost implications that need observance of some Sharīʿah rulings. This qualitative analytic study uses the framework for the Maqāṣid al-Sharīʿah to explicate the ideal practice of online banking in service delivery to realize the Maqāṣid al-Sharīʿah. While Islam places more attention on the essential needs, online banking should as well be intended to provide essential services to customers and remove hardship in financial transactions. Banks should hence desist from causing any harm through the charging of hidden fees, causing more confusion to their clients, and even devising deceptive means that lead to the charging of ribā. Instead, banks should use online services to introduce means that promote the realization of the Maqāṣid al-Sharīʿah. This paper stresses the importance of financial technology in realising the Maqāṣid al-Sharīʿah.

Научная новизна заключается в разработке основных направлений развития банковской системы на международном уровне, результатах анализа опыта лидирующих транснациональных банковских компаний в условиях пандемии The article is devoted to the problems of maintaining the competitive advantages of commercial banks for the implementation of financial transactions in cross-border markets. The aim of the study is to analyze the main trends in the development of the work of transnational banks in the context of globalization. The object of research is the world leaders of the international banking sector. In the process of research, the authors have analyzed theoretical and practical material used in general methods of scientific knowledge and statistical research. Scientific novelty lies in the development of the main directions for the development of the banking system at the international level, analysis of the experience of leading transnational banking companies in the context of a pandemic.


In olden days customers were transacting money through traditional banking. Traditional banking is the process of handling with common bank transactions like making withdrawals and deposits in a bank that maintains a physical location. In traditional banking system, the customer can contact the staff for their transactions. These include opening a new account, check deposit, withdrawing funds and applying for a loan etc. The main feature of traditional banking is the customer can ask their queries and clarify their doubts immediately to the staff who is working in the bank. After a big boon in the banking industry, banks realized that the rising popularity of the World Wide Web involves consumers using the Internet to access their bank account and to undertake the banking transactions. From the bank’s perspective, the online banking platform provides lowcost channel for both transactions and building relationships.

In the current technological age, once traditional means of delivering services to customers are losing its dominant position, the application of the Internet has evolved as an innovatively supporting alternative for attracting customers, especially in banking service. In that aspect, customers' perception of online banking service through the delivery of website quality (Webqual) remains the main concern for bank's managers in Vietnamese banking system because customers are easily inclined to another banking service provider due to their poor website-operated experience. Based on the evaluation of factors influencing on banking website quality, its relationship to customer satisfaction and retention, this article suggests the measurement of electronic Customer Satisfaction Index (e-CSI) of perceived banking website quality by three most developed banks of Vietinbank, Vietcombank and BIDV in central Vietnam, from which provides insights that may be useful for improving the quality of online banking service.

Production, consumption and investment on the boundary of 2008-2009 are described. The conclusion about the basic change of conditions of national economy development is presented.

The recent development in the ecommerce services has shown a variety of established companies participating in the web business environment including Islamic banks. Business with the mostexperience and success in using ecommerce are beginning to realize that the indicator of success or failure of the ecommerce environment was included in the online services. Nowadays, the trend ofa business is to serve the customer with best quality of services to enhance the consumer satisfaction and compete with the global competitors as online services enabled registered user to make productspurchase transaction only through website such as check and manage financial standing, transfer funds, bill payment, prepaid reload and so forth. However, in recent times, Islamic banking users faced problems with the online system such as cannot log in to the system, payment failure and  mostly security and privacy hindrance. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the relationship between electronic service quality (e-SERVQUAL) and customer satisfaction towards IslamicOnline Banking Services users. Based on the sample size, only 76 respondents were selected to participate in this study by using a convenience sampling. Further, Pearson correlation and multipleregression were reported to analyze the mentioned relationship. The findings have shown that there is a positive relationship between e-SERVQUAL and customer satisfaction in using Islamic onlinebanking services. Based on the findings, Islamic online banking developer is recommended to improve more on their responsiveness in order to provide quick response to their customer’s requirements.  Moreover, they also should be more reliable in providing accurate information in performing the promised services. They must assure that all of their customers can quickly get responds and true feedback regarding their problems to ensure customer satisfy with service provided. Besides, the safety of the website and the protection of customer information alsoconsidered a vital action that should be concerned in order to increase the customers’ satisfaction.

AbstractChildren’s books involve a large number of topics. Research on them has been paid much attention to by both scholars and practitioners. However, the existing achievements do not focus on China, which is the fastest growing market for children’s books in the world. Studies using quantitative analysis are low in number, especially on the intellectual structure, evolution patterns, and development trends of topics of children’s bestsellers in China. Dangdang.com, the biggest Chinese online bookstore, was chosen as a data source to obtain children’s bestsellers, and topic words in them were extracted from brief introductions. With the aid of co-occurrence theory and tools of social network analysis and visualization, the distribution, correlation structures, and evolution patterns of topics were revealed and visualized. This study shows that topics of Chinese children’s bestsellers are broad and relatively concentrated, but their distribution is unbalanced. There are four distinguished topic communities (Living, Animal, World, and Child) in terms of centrality and maturity, and they all establish their individual systems and tend to be mature. The evolution of these communities tends to be stable with powerful continuity.

Natural disasters represent a latent threat for every country in the world. Due to climate change and other factors, statistics show that they continue to be on the rise. This situation presents a challenge for the communities and the humanitarian organizations to be better prepared and react faster to natural disasters. In some countries, in-kind donations represent a high percentage of the supply for the operations, which presents additional challenges. This research proposes a Markov Decision Process (MDP) model to resemble operations in collection centers, where in-kind donations are received, sorted, packed, and sent to the affected areas. The decision addressed is when to send a shipment considering the uncertainty of the donations’ supply and the demand, as well as the logistics costs and the penalty of unsatisfied demand. As a result of the MDP a Monotone Optimal Non-Decreasing Policy (MONDP) is proposed, which provides valuable insights for decision-makers within this field. Moreover, the necessary conditions to prove the existence of such MONDP are presented.

Some economists argue that high population density and rapid population growth are not in themselves impediments to economic development. On the basis of a quantitative analysis of historical data, Simon Kuznets, for instance, concludes that, historically, rates of economic development have not significantly correlated, either positively or negatively, with rates of population growth. Similarly, E. E. Hagen observes that “nowhere in the world has population growth induced by rising income been sufficient to halt the rise in income. … The historical record indicates that rise in income in these societies has failed to occur not because something thwarted it, but because no force has been present to cause income to rise.
