In a current situation of society development, each person should have life-long learning skills, which allow him to be flexible, autonomous, able to adapt to different scenarios of todays unstable reality. These skills can be referred to the category of soft skills, the development of which give the students the opportunity to organize their learning process effectively, and it will also help in forming students individual learning style. Life-long learning skills formed at the university can also be considered as skills oriented to the prospect of further personal and professional development perspective life-long learning skills. Thus, the purpose of this study is to find mechanisms of the development of students life-long learning skills that also help in forming their individual learning style. Using the methods of theoretical, structural-content and comparative analysis, as well as the synthesis of ideas, it was possible to find out that life-long learning skills belong to the category of soft methodological skills, the development mechanism of which is the strategies of independent learning. Moreover, studying the relationship between such concepts as life-long learning skills, universal competencies, individual learning style showed that the development of soft methodological skills of life-long education is the basis for the formation of students individual learning style. As part of the study, it was developed a methodology for teaching students cognitive and metacognitive strategies for independent learning in a foreign language class while working on listening. As the expected results of the application of this methodology, it is assumed that having mastered the strategies and techniques of independent learning, students will be able to deal with the learning material better, which in turn will help to master the competences more successfully, to increase learning motivation and to form students subjective position. As a prospect for further research, we see the development and testing of technology for teaching students the skills of life-long education, with a detailed description of the stages and guidelines for students and teachers.

Learning style research has been a significant field within language teaching and learning. There have been very few attempts, however, to seek possible links between independent learning and learning style preferences. This paper aims to identify the learning styles of students who use the Independent Learning Centre (ILC) on a regular basis at a state university in Turkey (n=102). The findings of the learning style analysis revealed that, contrary to expectations, most of the regular users of the centre were synoptic learners, which implies that these learners might not necessarily have conscious control over their own learning processes. An in-depth analysis of learning styles and recommendations to improve the services offered in the centre are also included in the paper.

Students who enter higher education have diverse learning needs, andhigher education institutions need to provide for these needs. One way of dealing with this variety of learning needs is to empower students to play an active role in their own learning, by making them aware of their learning styles. Identifying learning styles is an important facet within the learning process. Assessing learning styles could provide students with an opportunity to be reflective, and interrogate how they learn. Students’ learning styles can be assessed by using a learning styles assessment tool. The Innovative Learning Experiences (ILE) which was developed in this study, caters for the students` voice where students reflect on their past and present learning experiences.

Android-based learning media for Social Studies (SS) might reduce boredom and accelerate student learning because it conveys attractive, creative, and innovative learning materials that support independent learning. This study aims to develop android-based learning media for SS about the Kingdom and Relics of Hindu-Buddhist. It employed Research and Development (R&D) with Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation (ADDIE) model. Validation by material experts and linguists stated that the learning media was feasible with 61.5% and 70%. Results show that the learning media is suitable to use by 88.2%. The product trials resulted in practical products by 100% from educational practitioners, and 80.2% from students. This finding indicates that the media is effective, as can be seen, that 26 out of 32 students scored above the minimum grade. It is suggested that SS learning media are developed through further research by utilizing virtual reality technology. This may accelerate student understanding as the use of videos and pictures, and virtual reality to images and objects help depict things clearly.
