Informal inference activity to estimate π Abstract: Inference is the part of Statistics that deals with forecasts for a population from the information in a sample. The subject is discussed formally in higher education statistics disciplines as it involves advanced mathematical concepts. However, making predictions is something present in everyone's life and with students at theBasic Education it is not different. It is important that students, at this educational level, have the opportunity to make predictions, even if they are limited and informal, as an initial experience of using this key part of Statistics. In this article, we take advantage of the mystique involving the number π, to informally discuss aspects of Statistical Inference. We describe an activity, included in the Portal AtivEstat - Statistics Activities, that uses simple concepts of Geometry to evaluate the value of the irrational number π. Keywords: Informal inference; Activity; π value.

ABSTRACTThis paper aims to discuss and describe a possible approach on the subject Linear Programming in High School. A constant question we hear from our students, especially in high school, is in relation to the applicability of the contents studied in mathematics. The study of contextualized problems involving linear equations and inequalities solved by certain methods, which are studied in linear programming, can help students understand the applicability of mathematics as well as the content and interrelationships among various mathematical concepts. Despite being heavily exploited a content in higher education, here's your chance during an initial study using only basic education concepts already studied in previous years.RESUMOO presente trabalho pretende discutir e descrever uma possível abordagem sobre o tema Programação Linear no Ensino Médio. Contato principal: [email protected]

This paper focuses on the understanding of service quality in the context of Vietnamese universities. It proposes an approach for measuring the quality of the higher education service provided by universities in Vietnam. Firstly, an exploratory study was conducted. Then, the set of items which were generated became the subject of a questionnaire that was then administered to 675 students of a Vietnamese university to determine the dimensions of higher education service quality in this context. The obtained results permit us to appropriate a measurement scale which is slightly different from the SERVQUAL scale widely known as the standard for measuring service quality. The results also show that tangible elements, responsiveness and assurance seem to be three specific dimensions of the higher education service of Vietnamese universities.

The objective of this study was to explore and empirically investigate the relationship between the labour force across educational levels and foreign direct investment (FDI), and to facilitate comparisons of education statistics and indicators across countries based on uniform and internationally agreed definitions. The analysis focuses on OECD countries. The empirical findings suggest that an educated labour force positively affects inward FDI. However, different educational levels do not have the same level of significance; tertiary education appears to have the greatest influence. As far as gender is concerned, the level of female participation in the workforce seems to be crucial in attracting FDI, and governments should therefore adopt policies to promote women’s empowerment.

The paper deals with the problem of network dependence of Russian news magazines and the actual dictates of international network structures (Scopus, WOS, etc.) that set their own requirements for their content and quality. The latter influence not only the scientific rating of journals, but also the publishing policy of their publications. The situation is further complicated by the fact that the rules of the game imposed by them have been adopted by the country's state authorities and, first of all, by the Ministry of science and higher education of the Russian Federation, which has tightened the requirements for reports of scientific and educational institutions, as well as researchers and teachers, including mandatory publications in Scopus and other international databases. Despite the efforts made by the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the leadership of higher education institutions, Russian science was dependent on these structures, which began to determine the directions and priorities of its development, including selecting the subject and language of journal publications. The scientific community of Russia is faced with the task of protecting the interests of journal editors and protecting the right of authors to Express their own scientific position and the ability to present publications in their native language.

In the digital era, the success of the professional development of future specialists in the process of obtaining higher education largely depends on their professional orientation (PN). Despite the significant interest in the subject of the study, the problem of identifying the factors that affect PN remains poorly understood. The purpose of the study is to determine the factors of the formation of PN of students enrolled in training and retraining programs, and the features of PN in the digital era. The article reveals the content and structure of the PN of future specialists in the era of digitalization. According to the results of the empirical research, the relationship of students' PN with indicators of life-meaning orientations, motives for choosing a profession and training was revealed; the relationship between students' life-meaning orientations and indicators of motives for choosing a profession and training at the stage of digitalization of education. The factors influencing the personal condition, and the factors of the formation of the personal condition of students, who are trained according to the programs of training and retraining of specialists, have been determined. As a result of an empirical study, it was concluded that a negative impact on the formation of PN is created by factors caused by various life circumstances, lack of independence of decisions in choosing a profession, low reflection of life goals, prospects for the future, rigidity of volitional and personal qualities, internal conflict in the structure of personality relationships, low pleasure training and the like. At the same time, the level of PN is significantly higher among students who receive a second higher education and who understand its importance at the stage of digitalization of education.

Family pension entitlement applies to children up to the age of 25. If the subject has reached this age in the last year of studies in a higher school, family pension entitlement extends until the end of studies. The problem is the interpretation of the phrase ‘in the last year of studies in a higher school’. It is unknown whether its meaning is limited only to the higher education (up to master’s degree) or whether it covers all forms of studies conducted by a higher school. Extending the meaning of this phrase shall cause the category of children entitled to the family pension to enlarge significantly, because entitled shall be those children who are students as well as those who take up postgraduate or doctoral studies. Such an interpretation seems to go too far. The conditions for acquiring the right to a family emolument after the deceased performing the profession of the judge also need to be specified.
