Resumo: Este trabalho investigou os resultados e impactos de atividades de divulgação científica sobre a ciência dos exoplanetas, ocorridas em 2018, junto a alunos de quatro escolas de educação básica situadas em municípios do litoral norte paulista. Essas ações permitiram que os alunos adquirissem melhor compreensão acerca dos conceitos apresentados sobre exoplanetas e procuraram incentivar o aprofundamento no estudo de áreas da astronomia. Para a elaboração das apresentações estudou-se tanto o estado atual dos conhecimentos científicos sobre exoplanetas, quanto o modo como o trabalho didático com temas de astronomia pode ser efetuado a alunos dos ensinos fundamental e médio. Nas apresentações foram usados diferentes recursos que procuraram tornar mais compreensíveis os conceitos científicos envolvidos e as técnicas de detecção de exoplanetas. Em particular, considerou-se o caráter interdisciplinar da ciência dos exoplanetas, bem como, conhecimentos relacionados à história da astronomia.Palavras-chave: Astronomia; Ensino de Física; Divulgação da Ciência; Detecção de Exoplanetas. Scientific dissemination activities on exoplanetsAbstract: This work investigated the results and impacts of scientific dissemination activities on the science of exoplanets, which took place in 2018, with students from four schools of basic education located in municipalities on the north coast of São Paulo. These actions allowed students to gain a better understanding of the concepts presented about exoplanets and sought to encourage further study in areas of astronomy. For the elaboration of the presentations, it was studied both the current state of the existing scientific knowledge about exoplanets, as well as the way the didactic work with astronomy themes can be carried out with elementary and high school students. In the presentations, different resources were used to make the scientific concepts involved and the techniques for detecting exoplanets more understandable. In particular, the presentations considered the interdisciplinary nature of the science of exoplanets, as well as knowledge related to the history of astronomy.Keywords: Astronomy; Physics Teaching; Dissemination of Science; Exoplanet Detection.

The contents of Mathematics and Physics have always reflected individually, low levels of learning, often with below average results, especially in high school. This influences the choice of graduating high school students for courses for the Exact Sciences in Higher Education. Although part of the same area, the application of knowledge from Mathematics to Physics teaching, still poses a problem for students and teachers. Thus, research and develop new tools to improve student learning and to make lessons more attractive these disciplines is a challenge. This study proposes the use of the computer program Maxima by having a visual demonstration of the theories involving the contents of Mathematics and Physics in the 1st grade of high school, providing thus improve utilization rates through an interdisciplinary mode. The use of the program in this study tends to make the lessons more attractive Mathematics and Physics, and classrooms become real laboratories where, in an interdisciplinary way, teachers and students can see the materialization of the theory involving the two disciplines as a effective tool in improving the teaching and learning of Mathematics and Physics.

Universities or institutions that operate in North Sumatra are very many, therefore, of course, competition in accepting new students is very tight, universities or institutions do certain ways or steps to be able to compete with other campuses in gaining interest from community or high school students who will continue their studies to a higher level. STMIK BUDI DARMA Medan (College of Information and Computer Management), is the first computer high school in Medan which was established on March 1, 1996 and received approval from the government through the Minister of Education and Culture, on July 23, 1996 with operating license number 48 / D / O / 1996, in promoting the campus, the team usually formed a promotion team to various regions in the North Sumatra Region to provide information to the community. Students who have learned in this campus are quite a lot who come from various regions in North Sumatra, from this point the need to process data from students who are active in college to be processed using data mining to achieve a target, one method that can be used in data mining, namely the ¬K-Modes clustering (grouping) algorithm. Physics teaching materials for Senior High School that supporting the development of human resources that is able to adapt to any changes, to solve complex problems, creative thinking and familiar with information technology has not been widely available in senior high schools in West Sumatra. Based on the above, research that aims to determine the effectiveness of the use of Physics teaching materials that integrates Mathematics, Science, Technology, natural disasters, and the noble character (MSTBK) on WEB for Senior High School grade XI and to determine the effect of the use of teaching materials MSTBK on the learning outcomes of high school students in class XI. The quasi-experiment design research was comparing the learning outcome before and after the state of the object being treated. The treatments were using physics teaching materials that developed for teaching learning in Senior High School grade XI. The experiment was conducted at five senior high schools in West Sumatra were divided into 3 levels. The data were analyzed by using a statistical product moment and Anova. The research showed that the physics teaching materials that developed are effectively to improve student learning outcomes in Senior High School grade XI in West Sumatera with a correlation coefficient (r_xy) = 0. 31. Levene Statistic showed the average of the learning outcomes of high school students in grade XI was different, but yet rules Tukey HSD and Bonferroni statistics show that there are not significantly of 0.05 at a significance level in West Sumatra

This study first approaches the history of the observer’s gaze, that is, as observers, we are forming or constructing our way of visualizing moving images. Secondly, it reaffirms the importance and need of resistance of the teaching / learning of Art as a compulsory curricular component for high school. Finally, the third part reports an experience with video art production in a class of first year high school students, establishing an interrelationship between theory and practice, that is, we study video art content to reach the production of videos, aiming as a final result, the art videos created by the students of the Reference Center in Environmental Education Forest School Prof. Eidorfe Moreira High School. The first and second stages of this research share a theoretical part of the Master ‘s thesis, Making films on the Island: audiovisual production as an escape line in Cotijuba, periphery of Belem, completed in 2013.

AbstractThis chapter details FGV’s contributions to basic education during the pandemic. FGV created in 2003 an accessible tool that addresses the managerial gaps that schools and education departments face to evaluate and assess its students, called FGV High School. Since March 2020, when school closures took place, the rapid demand for digital education tools placed FGV High School in an advantageous position to establish partnerships with education departments across Brazil, benefiting millions of high school students. In the state of São Paulo alone, the FGV High School platform gives access to approximately 3.5 million students. In 2008, FGV became a member of Open Education Global (OEG), a consortium of educational institutions from different countries that provide online content and teaching materials free of charge. Since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, the demand for FGV’s online courses has substantially increased. In March 2020 alone, the program’s website registered more than 1.6 million hits, and the number has since then consistently increased. Additionally, FGV has recently created two policy centers that focus on basic education: The Center for Excellence and Innovation in Education Policy (CEIPE), created in 2016, and the Center for the Development of Public Management and Educational Policy (DGPE), in 2018. Since the beginning of the pandemic, both centers have organized a series of webinars and publications to support policymakers in the education sector to make better decisions regarding reopening of schools, online and digital education options, curriculum, etc. The high number of views and engagement that the FGV webinars attract reflects the desire for reliable information that education professionals have been seeking, despite the overwhelming number of online events that have surfaced with the pandemic.

Although the government provides free education, poverty is one of Filipino students' most common challenges in their pursuit of basic education. To overcome financial constraints and to be self-sufficient while studying, high school students choose to find errands. In Toledo City, Cebu, Philippines, thirty-one public high school students working part-time were studied to find answers if there was a link between time management, self-efficacy, and academic performance, specifically, assessing the respondents' math performance, using the adopted survey questionnaire. The results revealed that they performed satisfactorily in math while practicing moderate time management and having moderate self-efficacy in the subject. There was no significant relationship between time management and math performance; however, self-efficacy and math performance had a significant weak positive correlation. As a result, teachers are encouraged to create programs that boost students' self-efficacy and time management abilities. It is strongly suggested that time management skills are integrated into the subjects to form and promote students' positive reactions. From the theoretical point of view, once the competencies have been learned and practiced, students are expected to manage, strive for, and fulfill their life objectives more effectively.

National assessments of U.S. high school students' writing and other verbal abilities do not show that literacy has declined substantially in recent years. In fact, scores have been relatively stable since the 1980s. The proportion of students with solid writing and reading abilities has held fairly steady but remained small during the past 25 years. During this period, however, the proportion of high school graduates who enter higher education has soared. Thus, more students with weak verbal abilities now enter college. Initiatives that encourage people to continue their education have succeeded, whereas initiatives to improve writing, reading, and reasoning abilities have not. The complex causes of entering college students' weak verbal abilities include social and cultural forces as well as decisions by educational institutions. By understanding the complicated history of this issue and reframing it in positive terms, business and technical communication faculty can help effect change.

The Eighteenth Annual Meeting of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics was held at the Palmer House, Chicago, Illinois, February 19–20, 1937. It was the largest meeting in the history of our organization, 836 registered and more than a thousand were in attendance. The Board of Directors met in two sessions and conducted the necessary business for the ensuing year. A trip was made to the Adler Planetarium and a lecture in the Planetarium was enjoyed on the subject, “The Determination of Time and Place.” At 8:00 p.m. the first General Meeting was called to order by President Martha Hildebrandt in the Grand Ball Room of the Palmer House. The Address of Welcome was made by James E. McDade, Assistant Superintendent of Schools, Chicago, Illinois, and the response by Mrs. Florence Brooks Miller, First Vice-President, Shaker Heights, Ohio. Secretary Schreiber made the opening announcements. Professor Albert A. Bennett of Brown University, Providence, Rhode Island addressed the group on the topic “Mathematics and Life.” This was followed by a series of projects in high school mathematics reported by some twenty high school students from Hyde Park High School, Chicago, Illinois, under the direction of Miss Beulah I. Shoesmith. This feature of the program was much appreciated by the audience of some seven hundred teachers.
