This research is about the effects of Think-Pair-Square (TPR) strategy on the reading comprehension of Seventh grade students’ at SMPN 16 Batam. It is purpose to find out the effect of TPR strategy on the reading comprehension. To achieve the objectives of the research, the researcher conducted experimental research. This experimental research was held at SMPN 16 Batam. The population in this research is all students of eight grade students at SMPN 16 in academic year 2014/2015. The researcher conducted research in one class. The first class is (VII.4) was as experimental class. The experimental class was taught reading descriptive text using TPR strategy. In analyzing the data, the researcher used a quantitative measurement to find the result. The analysis of the data showed that there was a significant difference of the students’ achievement before conducted treatment 62.17 for experimental class. The average of the students’ achievement after conducted treatment in experimental class was 87.33. The implication of this research seems to be applicable for seventh grade students. This strategy encouraged the students to be more active during the learning process. The suggestion is the students should know about this strategy. It will make easier while learning if they understand about the rule and procedure. To the other research, the researcher expects to understand well about this strategy in order to make easy for doing further research. Based on this finding, it can be concluded that the use of TPR strategy give significant effect in reading comprehension than the use of other conventional method.Keywords: TPR strategy, reading comprehension, experimental research

This research aimed find out the effectiveness of using big story book project (BSBP) in teaching reading comprehension and to know the advantages and the disadvantages of using BSBP in teaching reading comprehension. The researcher applied pre-experimental research design and consists of pre-test, treatment and post-test in order to find whether the big story book project (BSBP) effective in teaching reading comprehension. The instruments used in this research were reading test and questionnaire. The result from this research shows that using big story book project (BSBP) in teaching reading comprehension is effective. It is proved by the result that there is significant difference between the result of the students’ mean score in the pre-test and the post-test. In the pre-test, the students’ mean score is (43.79) and in the post-test is (80.37). Furthermore, it is proved by the probability value is smaller than α (0.00 < 0.05). On the other word, BSBP has advantages to the students if applied in teaching and learning process, especially in reading subject.

Abstrak The objectives of this study was to find out whether or not there was a significant effect of the using Think-Pair and Share technique at seventh grade students’ reading comprehension of Junior High School Satu Atap Bertam. This research was conducted at first grade students of Junior high school Satu Atap Bertam. This school is located in Muaro Jambi, there are two classes of seventh grade students, and this school uses school based curriculum. In conducting the research, the writer used the experimental research, and the design of the experimental research was a quasi-experimental research. The result of the research found two things: First, the writer has computed the two means score by using t -test formula; the value of t-test was higher than the value of t-table. It indicated that there was a different on the students’ reading comprehension that was taught by using Think Pair and Share technique. Second, the result of the analysis indicated there was a significant difference between the students’ reading comprehension taught by using Think Pair and Share technique and those who were not. Perception is the experience about objects, events, or the relations that are gotten by concluding the information and interpreting the mesagge. The more complex definition is given by Pareek in Alex (2003:446) who states that perception is a process of receiving, selecting, organizing, interpreting, evaluating, and giving relation to stimulate of the sense. Based on the definition above, it can be summarized that perception is a process of recognizing/receiving the stimuli in form of events, objects, or others through the sense, then those stimuli are organized and interpreted, and lastly giving reaction toward them. To achieve the research purposes, this research uses analytic induction. The researcher use theory from Walters that is self perception Self perception is based on self-efficicacy. It means that the perception occurs based on individual mind (intrinsic). Because the student’s appreciate about the foreign volunteer’s role by themselves. They will appreciate does the foreign volunteers give positive or negative impact.Learning with foreign volunteer made the seventh grade’s at SMPN 2 GlagahBanyuwangi more interested to study English and foreign volunteer give big impact to the students, so they can study hard. Based on the result, it is suggested To the teacher it is suggested to imitate the techniques applied by foreign volunteer, or the teacher can consolidate the teacher’s techniques and the foreign volunteer’s techniques. Students should be active, creative and also fun in teaching learning process and be more confident and do not afraid with English lesson. Students should pay attention to teacher explanation.While for the the other researcher, it is suggested to use the information to know the student’s perceptions about the foreign volunteer’s roles in English learning process at SMPN 2 Glagah. The other researcher are also suggested to use it as reference if having similar research

This study is concerned with the improvement of the students’ mastery of writing skill of SMP N 2 Mranggen who are taught by using suggestopedia. The main objectives of this research are: (1) To find out the students’ writing ability, before being taught using suggestopedia method, (2) To find out the students’ writing ability, after being taught using suggestopedia method, (3) To find out the difference of the students’ writing ability, before and after being taught using suggestopedia method. This study is a pre experimental research, which uses one class as the experiment class in 7B of SMP N 2 Mranggen. The population of the research is the seventh grade students of SMP N 2 Mranggen. The writer used pre-test and post-test to find out the differences between the students’ research who were taught by suggestopedia in SMP N 2 Mranggen. The instrument of this research was essay test. The test was to measure students’ mastery of writing descriptive text in SMP N 2 Mranggen. There is significant difference  in writing skill on descriptive text of the seventh grade students of SMP N 2 Mranggen in the academic year 2014 / 2015 after and before they had been taught by using suggestopedia. It can be seen from the result difference  of ttest and ttable. The result of ttable and ttest  is got 2,04 < 12,52 >  2,75. From this result ttest is higher than ttable.. In conclusion, teaching using suggestopedia to improve students’ writing skill is effective. The fact that, the students’ ability increased and they can make a descriptive text well. It means that using suggestopedia can help students to improve their writing skill.

This study was conducted to find out the effect of using frontloading strategy in teaching reading comprehension at the seventh grade students of SMPN 10 Bengkulu. This research was a quasi experimental research that is one short experiment which used post-test only. The population of this research were the seventh grade students of SMPN 10 Bengkulu there are 180 students. The sample of this research were 57 students from two classes; the experimental class and control class. The experimental class was treated by using frontloading strategy, while the control class was taught by conventional strategy. The two classes have similar ability in English based on the scores of mid-term examination. In experimental class there was a significant positive effect towards the students reading comprehension (it was found that the t-count 2.047 while t-table was 1.676). T-count was bigger than t-table (2.047<1.676).   Based on those results, it can be assumed frontloading strategy was effective in increasing students’ reading comprehension.

Abstract This research investigated the use of Question and Answer Relationship Reading Strategy in increasing the students’ reading comprehension achievement. The research aimed to find out to what extent the improvement of the students’ reading comprehension achievement after being treated using Question and Answer Relationship (QAR) reading strategy. This research was conducted at the grade XII students of SMK Sasmita Jaya 2, Tangerang Selatan. This reaseach administrated cluster random sampling in taking the sample then decided two classes as the samples, one class was treated using QAR reading strategy and the other class was not. The method of the research was quantitative research under quasy experimental research. The result of the research shows that there was significant improvement of their reading comprehension after being treated using QAR reading strategy and there was also significant difference between the the students who were treated using QAR reading strategy and the students who were not.Keywords: Comprehension, Reading, Strategy, Students, QAR

The main purpose of conducting this research was to measure how far the reading comprehension in descriptive text of the seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Rogojampi in academic year 2013/2014. There are three indicators in this research. Those are comprehending words, comprehending sentences, and comprehending paragraphs. In this research, the researcher used descriptive quantitative research. The data was in the form of student’s reading comprehension score. The instrument that is used in this research is a test. The kind of the test that used is multiple choice test. There are 20 items in the test covering identifying synonym, identifying reference, comprehending sentences, identifying main idea, and identifying the topic. The score for each item is 5 and the maximal score is 100. From the data analysis of the research findings and discussions, the researcher found the minimum score is 50 and the maximum score is 95. The average or mean of student’s reading comprehension score is 75.98%. It was in the range between71–80. It means that in general, the student’s reading comprehension on descriptive text was good. The students’ reading comprehension on descriptive text in comprehending words was 81.2%. It was in the range between 81 – 90. It can be said that the students reading comprehension in comprehending words was very good. The students’ reading comprehension on descriptive text in comprehending sentences was 81.5%. It was in the range between81–90. It can be said that the students reading comprehension in comprehending sentences was very good. The students’ reading comprehension on descriptive text in comprehending paragraphs was 63.9%. It was in the range between61–70. It can be said that the students reading comprehension in comprehending paragraphs was more than enough. There are some suggestion given to the English teacher, the students and the other researcher. (1) The teacher should use the information about their student’s reading comprehension on descriptive text as reflection to overcome their student’s problems. The English teacher should find an effective way on their teaching learning process to increase the student’s reading achievement. (2) The students should learn more about reading comprehension, especially in comprehending words, comprehending sentences, and comprehending paragraphs. (3) For the other researcher, it can be used as the basic for conducting experimental research or classroom action research to solve the student’s reading comprehension problems, especially for comprehending paragraphs.

This research is entitled “The Effectiveness of Using Cooperative Script Method to Improve Students’ Reading Comprehension on Recount Text of 8th Grade Students of SMP N Kewapante, Maumere in Academic Year 2017/ 2018”. The objective of this research is to investigate and to find out whether the use of cooperative script method effective to improve students’ reading comprehension on recount text. The method of this research is experimental research especially quasi experimental research. In analyzing the data, the researcher combined both quantitative and qualitative data analysis. In qualitative data analysis, the researcher used interview technique in order to get information about students’ perceptions in reading, while in quantitative data analysis, the researcher used SPSS version 16. The result of the research showed that the implementation of Cooperative Script Method in experimental class was more effective to help the students in reading comprehension on recount text compared to the use of the conventional method in control class of the eighth grade students of SMP N Kewapante, Maumere. It is also found that cooperative script method positively contributed to improve students’ reading comprehension. Therefore ,the researcher  suggests the teachers to use cooperative script method in order to improve students reading comprehension Additionally, cooperative script method can also motivate students to be more active, relax and enthusiastic to comprehend reading texts.

Reading is central to learning process, by reading people can gain important information in this millennial era. Study reading aims to develop the reading skills that you need to find information quickly, to identify what is important in a text, to compare different sources of information and to read critically. The aim of this experimental research is to investigate the effect of communicative approach on reading competencies of 10th grade students of SMK SEHATI in the academic year of 2018/2019. It is about 60 pupilss were assigned as sample through random sampling. Data of student’s reading competencies were collected by using multiple choice of descriptive text test. This study aims as a way to determine the effect of the recitation method on learning outcomes of events in life that focuses on sub-theme 2 national events about the proclamation of independence day at SDN Gongseng 1 Jombang. As we know that the average learning process in schools is still centered on the teacher himself. By using the right application, it is certain that it will have a good impact on the quality of education. The lack of student interest in the methods taught by the teacher had a significant impact. In the process of working on questions, for example, students are less able to understand what is conveyed by the teacher who is able to provide a learning process whose substance is carried out by selecting the appropriate method. This research is pre-experimental research design, in the form of one-group pretest-posttest. The sample of this study consisted of 9 boys and 10 girls totaling 19 students who were in the experimental class. In the academic year 2021, it can be seen that the results of the pretest and posttest data of students by using the recitation method have sig. 0.000 < 0.05. From these results, it can be concluded that the effect of recitation has an influence on classroom learning by using conventional methods.
