Information and communication technologies have become vital in the educational realm over the past two decades and a significant subject in the language educational system. E-materials are not available for all the students, and that causes an impediment for English foreign language teachers at Dr. Moulay Tahar University of Saida-Algeria. The research paper aims at investigating e-teaching and e-learning effectiveness in the Algerian university. The first research tool was an interview with teachers at the Department of English Language and Literature, Saida. The second research instrument was observational classroom sessions. Second-year students were observed for 2 months (20 sessions in 2020–2021). The findings revealed that e-teaching and online learning are in vain as they are still new for both tutors and learners. Thus, e-education ought to start at an early age so that learners will get used to it. Both students and teachers should be trained in virtual learning and teaching methods.   Keywords: Algerian EFL students, English, ICT, online learning, language: e-teaching.

Abstract: In this article, I discuss the idea about how Information and Communication Technologies – particularly the internet- can be developed as a tool to support independent learning. From my point of view, both new media and education are closely connected. Moreover, the internet has several functions that might be explored for academic purposes. Although there are some possibilities of using internet as a tool to learn English, it might not be easy to implement this idea in Indonesian universities because of various problems caused by cultural background, educational institution, government, community, also student’s and teacher’s perspectives. This paper explains these complexities in five parts: introduction; literature review; analysis; solutions; and conclusions which all are connected to the concepts of language, culture and identity.

The implementation of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in the educational area has generated a revolution in the existing teaching processes and methods, and nowadays more virtual platforms help to mediate the teaching-learning process (Rodríguez, 2010). These tools enable quickly and efficiently some processes such as communication, a calculation or program through automation. This document addresses the results of the research conducted to measure the impact of using a free page developed for English language learning at Universidad Tecnológica Fidel Velázquez. The study was descriptive: two groups were used to contrast the behavior when using the page developed by the Academic Body of Foreign Languages. A statistical record was kept and surveys were applied to know users opinion when employing it. The purpose of the page is to provide the internal and external community with specific content in English to strengthen vocabulary and recognize the usefulness of a second language in their area of professional performance.
