This study aims to analyze the use of upselling techniques among waiters and waitresses at the Ticket’s Café in Hotel Horison Ultima Makassar. This analysis includes the answer to whether or not they use upselling techniques, how they use it, and what the result is. The data in this research are collected during observation and interview. This research studies the waiters and waitresses along with their superiors. The data are then analyzed with descriptive qualitative method which includes data reduction, presentation and conclusion drawing. The result of this research is that the waiter and waitresses have been proven to use some upselling techniques; however the implementation is not as effective as expected because the number of waiters and waitresses is not enough to deliver the best impacts of the techniques and not all of them use the right upselling techniques.

This research was conducted at PDAM Tirta Daroy Banda Aceh, with the aim to answer the question of how the payroll accounting system applied in PDAM Tirta Daroy Banda Aceh.This research uses descriptive qualitative method. Data obtained from interviews and documentation studies, then analyzed interactively and lasted continuously until complete so that the data has been saturated. Activity in data analysis is data reduction, data presentation, treanggulation and conclusion / verification.The results show PDAM Tirta Daroy Banda Aceh has implemented a neat and well-payroll accounting system in accordance with applicable accounting standards. Payroll accounting system in PDAM Tirta Daroy Banda Aceh is used to overcome errors and irregularities in the calculation and payment of salary. Payroll accounting systems are designed by companies to provide a clear picture of employee salaries so that they are easy to understand and easy to use.

A'dangang ceremony is a cultural value in the Kajang Customary Area. The purpose of research to analyze the view of society and function of A'dangang Ceremony to the life of Kajang society. This type of research is descriptive qualitative method, data collection is used by observation, interview, and documentation. Processing techniques and data analysts performed through three stages of data reduction, presentation and draw conclusions. The results show there is a ceremony of death A'dangang, which consists of several levels, namely: a) Dampo Ceremony, b) Lajo-lajo Ceremony. This research aims to examine the change of Malay coast wedding procession of noblese and common society in Singkep Pesisir, Lingga regency, Riau island province. This study used descriptive qualitative method. Data collected methods used are interviews, observation and documentation. The research informants consisted of eleven people, namely four traditional figures, three noble descendants, two ordinary people who had carried out traditional Malay wedding receptions and representatives of two unmarried people. The analytical method used in this study was data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The results of this study found that when conducting a wedding reception in Singkep District, the higher social status recognized in the community such as occupation, education and descent. Then the wedding reception will be carried out in accordance that has been determined derivatives such as the used of the level of pelamin and clothing  whichused. But when the noble descendants carried out wedding receptions unlike the noble descendants of Tengku, Raja and Encik due to spending large sums of money, the descendants carried out wedding receptions using modern traditions and shortened but there were Malay people which not noble descendants carried out receptions such as noble descent when people being or a rich person, the wedding reception of a noble descent may be carried out by people not of noble descent.

Abstract              In effective learning in a classroom, it requires a variety of media that makes it easier for students to absorb the learning conveyed by the teacher. Therefore, the teacher is required to be able to convey the material correctly and correctly. From there the researchers wanted to conduct a research with the formulation of the problem of how the use of audio visual media in the ability to practice reading and prayer movements in the study of jurisprudence. The subjects in this study were grade V students with 30 students consisting of 18 women and 12 men. The method in this study used a descriptive (qualitative) method. Data collection used is observation, interview and documentation, which are then analyzed using the data reduction techniques described. In accordance with the results of the analysis conducted by researchers, students who scored above the Minimum Mastery Criteria (KKM) were 18 students, with a percentage of 65%, while students who received scores below as many as 12 students with a percentage of 35%. If you look at the data for each aspect, it can be concluded that there are still many students who only have enough mastery in terms of dhikr and pray after prayer. While those who reach the level of mastering well are the aspects of reading the Surah Al-Fatihah. The conclusion is that the Ability, Practicing of Reading and Movement of Prayer is interesting and enthusiastic so that through audio-visual media can be improved by audio-visual media.

Love is something that everyone may have. Even love is the right of every human being in the world so that everyone has the right to love and be loved by others. Generally love is a form of emotion that contains attraction, sexual desire, and attention to someone. This shows that love has several components in it including intimacy, passion, and commitment. This research is focused on analyzing love experiences by using the triangular theory of love by Sternberg on some of the characters in the novel Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer. This research used a descriptive qualitative method and used Sternberg's theory to analyze the experience of love in the breaking dawn novel. This study aims to explain the positioning of the Halal Industry in Indonesia. This study also identifies opportunities and challenges in its development. The method used in this study is a descriptive-qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. The data obtained were analyzed using qualitative analysis through data reduction, categorization, and verification. This research found that Indonesia has the potential to develop the Halal Industry in various sectors, especially halal food, halal travel, halal fashion, and halal finance. The development of the Halal Industry also has the potential to increase national economic growth. However, Indonesia must face various challenges such as the low halal awareness, low local product competitiveness, and problems in implementing the Halal Product Guarantee Regulation.

This research studies about expressive speech act in Crazy Rich Asian movie, the objectives of the research are to describe (1) to analyze the type of expressive speech act found in Crazy Rich Asian movie and (2) to describe the S-P-E-A-K-I-N-G model used in Crazy Rich Asian movie. This research used theory from Searle (1985) and Hymes (1974) in analyzing the data. There are twelve expressive speech act mentioned by Searle; apologize, thank, condole, congratulate, complain, lament, protest, deplore, boast, compliment, greet, and welcome. This research used descriptive qualitative method. The researcher collected expressive speech act utterances as the data to be analyzed; in analyzing the data the researcher used S-P-E-A-K-I-N-G model. The results showed that there were 52 data of expressive speech act and only ten types of expressive speech found in Crazy Rich Asian movie, some of the expressive types appeared except expressive act of condole and boast. the researcher used SPEAKING model is to know how the meaning of the social context, the purpose of the interaction in detail and describe them into analysis text. From the data analysis it shows that the types of expressive speech act that oftenly come up are apologize, thank and compliment. It shows that the characters in the Crazy Rich Asian movie more showed politeness and friendly attitude to others.

This article aims to reveal philosophy level from axiology (use) of literature in the society of Minangkabau’s superstition viewed from cultural manifestation. This research is a content analysis researh using descriptive qualitative method. The research was done in 10 places in Luhak Kubuang Tigo Baleh Minangkabau namely Salayo, Cupak, Gantuang Ciri, Guguak, Koto Anau, Muara Paneh, Kota Solok, Talang, Panyangkalan, dan Kinari.The data in this research is the statements of superstition in KubuangTigoBaleh society which is obtained from observation and indepth interview withpenghulu, cerdik pandai, and alim ulama. In analyzing the data, the research usedMiles danHubeman’s modelsthrough three steps (1) data reduction, (2) data display and (3) conclusion. Based on the findings it can be concluded that There are four patterns of superstition, namely negative, positive, prediction and witchcraft pattern. Moreover, in the process of pattern meaning the lofty ethic values are framed and considered as local wisdom of the Minangkabau society, especially in KubuangTigoBaleh which is appropriate, well-mannered, educated and existence acknowledged as a belief.

AbstractThis article tries to present and explore a response of PP Muhammadiyah to MUI’s fatwa about freedom and comfortable worship in approaching the Christmas Day. The news text is published online media of Republika.co.id dated November 21st, 2016. The fatwa states that moslems are banned using attribute of celebrating the Christmas Day. This regards for giving a right of belief conducting. The issue causes some differences responses among people and organizations. The text will be explored using a critical discourse analysis in the viewpoint of systemic functional linguistic approach to analysis. This article uses a descriptive – qualitative method to make obvious and easy in understanding the analysis. This article found some data, i.e. words and clauses representing the aims and function of the fatwa, as well as a critic. The data conveys the proven that the fatwa is on the right track to reveal the freedom and comfortable worship. Dan pada akhirnya diberikan hasil evaluasi dengan sistem penilain. The purpose of this study is to describe the elements of lexical cohesion and grammatical cohesion elements in the poem discourse "Museum of Destruction of Documents" by Afrizal Malna. This research uses descriptive qualitative method by using library, reading, and note taking techniques. Data analysis was performed by data reduction, data presentation, then described and verified. Based on the research findings, it was concluded that the grammatical cohesion used in the collection of poetry "Museum Destroyer Documents" by Afrizal Malna found as many as 313 markers which include; 1) referencing 168 markers; 2) absorption of 2 markers; and 3) assembling 143 markers. Furthermore, the use of lexical cohesion used in the discourse on the poem "Document Shredder" by Afrizal Malna was found as many as 93 markers which included; 1) repetition of 39 markers; 2) synonym 11 markers; 3) antonimi 29 markers; 4) collocation of 9 markers; and 5) equivalence of 5 markers. When combined, the total usage of both is 406 markers.
