Included in the definition of being an aspiring person is the risk of failure. Aspiring fiction writers are no exception. This article shows that the role of aspiring fiction writer involves managing three issues: the hope of being published, rejection by a publisher, and the perception of the rejection as a failure. Drawing on 47 interviews with fiction writers who have attempted to become first-time writers, the analysis shows that aspiring writers’ responses to rejection are related to accepting and dismissing responsibility for having failed and admitting or dismissing the rejection as a perceived failure. Based on these findings, the article presents procedures associated with four main approaches to dealing with failure: conceding, excusing, justifying, and refusing. This conceptual framework for understanding failure contributes to a theoretical understanding of evaluation and valuation processes and their consequences and to empirical studies of rejection as career failure; it also systematizes and extends Goffmans work on cooling out strategies.

This study, entitled "The Ethics of the Teacher and the Learner at Mekdad Yalgen and its Educational Applications," included four chapters in addition to the list of references. The study aimed to identify the cultural, social and educational framework that influenced educational ideas at Mekdad Yaljin, and on the first and the first principles which are the starting points of the study. And the ethics of the teacher and its educational applications at Mekdad Yalgen, the ethics of the learner and its educational applications at Mekdad Yalgen, and on the most prominent ways to promote the moral and moral learners at Mekdad Yalgen. Studying the need to conduct an educational intellectual study that shows the importance of teacher and learner ethics in educational thinkers. In the second chapter, it contains the conceptual framework and previous studies. The study covered the conceptual framework of Mekdad Yalgen, his birth, his stages, his education, his efforts and his scientific achievements, and the King Phil Award, and the most important factors influencing his educational idea. The researcher sought to follow the relevant studies in Yaljin and studies related to the ethics of the teacher and the learner. The third chapter deals with the general principles of educational thought at Mekdad Yalgen starting with the theory of knowledge of its concept and its dimensions. Then, it tackles the concept of human nature and its components, then the Islamic moral system, the definition of morality and the place of ethics. In the fourth chapter: the researcher dealt with the ethics of the teacher and learner at Mekdad Yalgen and its educational applications. Hali included the importance of moral education and the role of Islamic moral education in the building of the individual, society and human civilization, and also contained the ethics of the teacher and the learner and its educational applications at Mekdad Balgin.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is twofold: first, to make a contribution to the theoretical understanding of documents and documentary agency in society through examples from a defined institutional and professional setting; and second, to create an understanding for the role of ethical codes in the process of defining and developing modern librarianship. Design/methodology/approach This study analyses the role of documentation carrying content of professional ethics in the formulation of modern librarianship. This is done through a series of example documents of various kinds, such as founding charters, peer handbooks and ethical codes systematically analysed through the use of document theory and theory on institutional change. Findings The findings of this study suggest that documents pronouncing ethical self-regulation within librarianship play a primarily legitimising role in situations where new types of libraries emerge or when libraries adapt to social change. The study proposes legitimacy as a key aspect of documentality, thus supplementing the established understanding of the concept. Originality/value This study is the first to analyse the role of ethical codes in libraries using document theory. It brings new knowledge to the role of ethical self-regulation in librarianship over time and in different institutional contexts. In suggesting a developed definition of documentality, it contributes to the theoretical understanding of the role of documents and documentation in institutions and in society at large.

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to understand the philosophical changes which underpin research and practices in project management. This study is an attempt to challenge previous studies that have tried to explain this change in order to provide a better explanation.Design/methodology/approachThe authors adopt a critical review research method to challenge previous explanations of the paradigm change and definition of communication. For this purpose, philosophical and social theories and concepts have been used.FindingsThis paper proposed changing the paradigm from modernism to postmodernism and the paradigm shift, which happens from postmodernism to participation, as a better explanation for the paradigmatic change in project management. Furthermore, the important role of communication has been illustrated in the participation paradigm.Originality/valueFor the first time in project management, the authors attempt to clarify the role of power in this paradigmatic shift, especially because this concept is an axial concept in postmodern philosophy and a neglected concept in project management literature. In addition, communicative action theory has been used with the aim of pursuing the influence of informal power in the participation paradigm and paving the way for confronting its emerging challenges in future studies.

The article reveals the psychological and pedagogical conditions of the educational process aimed at the development of children's abilities and support of their giftedness. The emphasis is made on the definition of the features of interaction between teachers and children. The work is based on the specifics of the theoretical understanding of abilities, creativity and giftedness, developed in the framework of national scientific psychology. The authors consider situations in which the effect on the child become difficult-mediated and suggest the upbringing through self-upbringing and growth of his giftedness, his own creative initiative and interest for the cognition process. The authors emphasize the role of the teacher in the context of early childhood education in the development of children's giftedness.

The article is aimed at disclosing the economic essence of the concept of «the State-based financial control», defining and analyzing the current status of the State-based financial control in Ukraine. The article analyzes the opinions of scholars on the definition of the conceptual apparatus of the research topic and derives a theoretical understanding of the State-based financial control. The issue of building an effective unified system of the State-based financial control is researched. The analysis of legislation norms on the implementation of the State-based financial control is carried out. The opinions of leading scholars who study the problems of control over the effective use of both the State and the local budgets together with reforms in this area are taken into account. The current status of the State-based financial control in the country is analyzed, a number of problems within the system are outlined. The characteristic shortcomings of functioning of the elements of the State-based control system are outlined (absence of a unified concept for the development of the State-based financial control, deepening of the powers of regulatory authorities, presence of a large number of normative legal acts, their outdatedness and inconsistency), the inadmissibility of duplication of control functions is emphasized. The role of the State-based audit in the formation of the successful State-based financial control in the country is determined. The risks that influence the formation of the State-based financial control are analyzed. It is concluded that the system of the State-based financial control in Ukraine does not have sufficient legal, informational, organizational, communicative, institutional and methodological provision that would meet the modern challenges of the country’s economy. Solving the problems of organization and functioning of the State-based financial control is possible by systematically improving the activities of financial control bodies, increasing the level of audit and continuous improvement of the management system within the organizations of regulatory authorities.

Introduction:Although the concept of empowerment seems useful for good care and support for people living with dementia, there is a lack of understanding as to how to define this concept. Therefore, insight is needed in what empowerment means for people living with dementia.Methods:We performed an integrative literature review (PubMed, CINAHL, PsychINFO), including articles that addressed empowerment for people living with dementia in their title or abstract. Using qualitative data analysis software ATLAS.ti, we applied open codes to describe all relevant aspects of included articles. Common themes and categories were identified using inductive reasoning and constant comparison.Results:Sixty-nine articles were included. We identified four themes: (1) description of the state of being empowered, (2) the process of empowerment, (3) contribution of the environment to the empowerment process, and (4) effects on other variables. We combined these results with the conceptual framework of our previous qualitative study on the definition of empowerment for people living with dementia based on stakeholders’ perspectives into a revised conceptual framework. Subsequently, the combined information of both studies was visualized in a revised conceptual framework.Conclusion:This literature review provides more details as to the role of the environment for empowerment of people living with dementia and suggests that empowerment can be considered a dynamic process, taking place through interaction between the person living with dementia and their environment. Our revised conceptual framework of empowerment can serve as a basis for future studies on empowerment for people living with dementia, and to support (in)formal caregivers in the empowerment process.

Abstract Background Implementation science studies often express interest in “attitudes,” a term borrowed from psychology. In psychology, attitude research has an established methodological and theoretical base, which we briefly summarize here. We then review implementation studies designed to measure attitudes and compare their definitions and methods with those from psychology. Methods A recent review identified 46 studies empirically examining factors associated with implementation. For each of these studies, we evaluated whether authors included attitudes as a construct of interest, and if so, whether and how the construct was defined, measured, and analyzed. Results Most of the articles (29/46 [63%]) mention attitudes as an implementation factor. Six articles include a definition of the construct. Nineteen studies were designed to measure attitudes but lacked clarity in describing how attitudes were measured. Those that explained their measurement approach used methods that differed from one another and from validated methods in social psychology. Few articles described associated analyses or provided results specific to attitudes. Despite the lack of specificity regarding relevant measurement, analysis, and results, the articles often included causal conclusions about the role of attitudes. Conclusions Attitudes may be an important construct to implementation scientists, but studies to date are ambiguous in their definitions of attitudes and inconsistent in the methods used to measure and analyze attitudes. We discuss how implementation studies can apply psychology’s standardized definitions, validated measurement approaches, and causal models that include attitudes. This application of attitude theory and methods could offer implementation research valuable scientific opportunities.

PurposeLibrary and Information Science (LIS) has seen an explosion of responses to fake news in the aftermath of the 2016 US election, political in nature, eschewing “neutrality” supporting democracy. The purpose of this paper is to trace the definition of fake news, the challenges, the roots of recent respondes to fake news, notes that the theoretical understanding of democracy must keep pace with these efforts.Design/methodology/approachConceptual analysis of the LIS literature concerning fake news and its underlying themes; unpacking of actually existing democracy, re-linked to LIS practices.FindingsDemocracy does not require a space cleared of distorting claims but spaces suited to grappling with them, a call to address fake news, and not simply a matter of clearing up information sources; librarians should prepared to engage at the next level. Libraries stand for the proposition that there is more-true information which is worth accessing, organizing, etc., and for inclusion. Whether explicitly political or not, the imaginative uses to which libraries are put do enrich civil society and the public sphere. Libraries help to counter fake news both through specific educative actions aimed at it and as broadly educative institutions with a coherent notion of their relationship to informational discernment in democracy.Originality/valueLIS discourse on fake news has value, and references democracy, but assumes a set of traditional relationships between informing, libraries and democracy. This paper goes at both the lesser role of informing and highlights the (arguably) greater social role of libraries in democratic society.

PurposeThe purpose of this study is to conceptualise the relationship between information disclosure andWaqifcommitment, taking into consideration the role of level of trust (mediator variable) and communication and type of payment (moderator variables).Design/methodology/approachThe conceptual framework is developed from the theory of social exchange (mediated philanthropy model) and selected previous literature concerning commitment.FindingsAccording to previous empirical research, a conceptual framework was developed to facilitate further analysis in the study. Nine propositions were raised in this paper where the factor of communication and payment method is proposed to no longer the factor that determined commitment but as moderator. There is five antecedent of information disclosure proposed, which is basic information, financial information, non-financial information, future information and governance information. Also, trust is offered to be the mediator variable between information disclosure andWaqfcommitment.Research limitations/implicationsBy realising many factors that may influence the commitment ofwaqfsuch as demonstrable utility, emotional utility and familial utility, this study only focusses on the effect of information disclosure.Practical implicationsThis paper provides an opportunity for further empirical studies to prove the relationship between information disclosure andWaqfcommitment. This paper also brought opportunities to investigate both conceptually and empirically, other factors that could affectWaqfcommitment.Originality/valueTo the best of the author’s knowledge, few studies have been done concerning donors commitment. While there are none yet, the research examinedWaqfcommitment. The originality value of this study is that there is a gap in knowledge regarding the analysis ofWaqfcommitment, the level of trust amongwaqifis the information thatWaqfexpected, the preferred communication between Mutawalli andWaqfand type of payment thatWaqffavoured. This study is believed to be a novel based on the framework developed.

This symposium develops a framework for the study and interpretation of communication and automation effects in the operation of complex social-technical systems. Three empirical studies are reported that investigate these sources of variance in group performance on partially automated systems. Both the conceptual framework and the results of the three studies suggest a need to expand our conceptualization of operator/system interfaces to acknowledge that many such interfaces are more properly viewed as group/system interfaces. This expanded framework includes group variables including group heterogeneity, group structure and communication patterns, and both formal and informal leadership variables in addition to more commonly studied automation and technical system factors.
