A terahertz (THz) thermal sensor has been developed by using a periodically corrugated gold waveguide. A defect was positioned in the middle of this waveguide. The periodicities of waveguides can result in Bragg and non-Bragg gaps with identical and different transverse mode resonances, respectively. Due to the local resonance of the energy concentration in the inserted tube, a non-Bragg defect state (NBDS) was observed to arise in the non-Bragg gap. It exhibited an extremely narrow transmission peak. The numerical results showed that by using the here proposed waveguide structure, a NBDS would appear at a resonance frequency of 0.695 THz. In addition, a redshift of this frequency was observed to occur with an increase in the ambient temperature. It was also found that the maximum sensitivity can reach 11.5 MHz/K for an optimized defect radius of 0.9 times the mean value of the waveguide inner tube radius, and for a defect length of 0.2 (or 0.8) times the corrugation period. In the present simulations, a temperature modification of the Drude model was also used. By using this model, the thermal sensing could be realized with an impressive sensitivity. This THz thermal sensor is thereby very promising for applications based on high-precision temperature measurements and control.

The present study is aimed to study and analyze the true and pseudo Cholinesterase levels in the subjects exposed to pesticides during short term by intentional or accidental intake and long term exposure due to their occupation were studied at Department of Biochemistry, SVS medical college and hospital mahbubnagar district. Whole blood cholinesterase levels and Pseudo cholinesterase levels were estimated. 150 people were taken as controls who had no medical illness and a total number of 300 cases of pesticide poisoning were selected, aged between 20 to 55 years, which consist of 150 acute poisoning and 150 chronic poisoning subjects in Mahbubnagar district, were taken as case study, the detailed case history and the type of organophosphorus pesticide taken were recorded. Mean and standard deviation (S.D) of all variables were calculated and compared with those of controls. Statistical significance was assessed and P-value <0.05 were considered significant.           During acute poisoning the mean value of Whole blood cholinesterase/True cholinesterase (U / L) in acute poisoning cases on first day was 1.267± 0.612 on 3th day was 1.651±0.647, on 7th day was 2.221±0.684 and at the end of 6 months was 3.970±0.404.The difference between the study group and control group (4.0 ± 0.39) was found to be statistically significant in1st, 3rd, 7th day but not significant at the end of 6 months. The mean value of serum cholinesterase/pseudo cholinesterase (U/L) in acute poisoning cases on first day was 2213.05 ± 1749.81, on 3th day was 2862.3 ± 2025.6, on 7th day was 4008.4 ± 2355.9 and at the end of 6 months was 7708.34 ± 880.72.The difference between the study group and control group (7991.97 ± 1276.5) was found to be statistically significant in1st, 3rd, 7th day but not significant at the end of 6 months. During chronic poisoning (exposure) the mean value of Whole blood cholinesterase (U/L) in controls is 4.0 ± 0.39 as compared to 3.019 ± 0.848 in cases of chronic poisoning. The difference between the study group and control group was found to be statistically significant. The mean value of serum cholinesterase/pseudo cholinesterase (U/L) in controls was 7991.97 ± 1276.5 as compared to 6214 ± 1189 in cases of chronic poisoning. The difference between the study group and control group was found to be statistically significant.

(Title: Improving The Capabilities Of Agency Through Media Kanji Game Online) Japanese has several types of letters namely hiragana, katakana, kanji, and romaji. Each letter has its own uniqueness. For foreign learners, kanji is considered the most difficult. The results of interviews on the third semester students who followed the Kanji Shochukyu course showed that students often have difficulty in memorizing kanji, often forget the shape so that they are not able to write kanji correctly, and are often confused between read On and Kun. To overcome student difficulties in memorizing kanji, the author tries to use kanji media online game. The method used is experiment with experiment class and control class. The instrument used is postes. The result of the postes shows that the mean value of the experimental class is 82.5 while the control class is 70.1. Keywords: kanji; game online

ABSTRACT Six rumen-fistulated, overnight-fasted, female British Saanen goats were used. In preliminary experiments on two of the goats, evidence was obtained that inflation of a balloon with water in the cranial sac of the rumen was accompanied by inhibition of GH release. In a definitive series of experiments on the other four goats (one goat on 1 day = one experiment), a total of 96 experiments were carried out, 48 of which were balloon inflations with 2·5 litres water at 37 °C in the cranial sac of the rumen for 40 min and 48 were control experiments on alternate days. It was found that the mean plasma GH concentration of the samples taken at the end of the 40-min inflation period was significantly (P < 0·05) lower than the mean value of the samples taken at the start of inflation. Mean control values at the start and finish of inflation were not significantly different. There were no significant differences between mean plasma insulin concentrations at the start and finish of inflation in experimental and control groups. It is concluded that distension of the cranial rumen in the goat is a signal which can inhibit the release of GH. J. Endocr. (1985) 104, 159–163

Background: Depression is one of the most common psychosocial problems in the elderly. The incidence of depression in the elderly is greater in the elderly living in the social service unit than the elderly in the community. Management of depression in the elderly should be more emphasized on interventions that focus on the individual needs of the biopsychosocial and spiritual aspects. Brain gym therapy and Benson relaxation are considered appropriate in decreasing depression.Objective: This study was to determine the effect of brain exercise and Benson relaxation on the level of depression in elderly in the elderly social service unit.Methods: This was a quasy experimental study with pretest posttest control group design. Fifty-six elderly included in this study, which 28 assigned in the experiment and control group. The depression level was assessed using Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS). Wilcoxon and Mann-Whitney test were used for data analyses.Results: The study showed that the mean GDS score in the experiment group before the intervention was 7.21, while the mean value of GDS in the control group was 6.64. The mean value of GDS in the experiment group after the intervention was 5.04 and the mean in control group was 6.18. There was a significant difference of GDS score between experiment and control group with p-value of 0.021 (<0.05).Conclusion: There was a significant effect of brain gymnastics and Benson relaxation therapy in reducing depression in elderly. brain gymnastic therapy and benson relaxation can be one of independent nursing interventions as an effort to improve care for elderly groups.

Background: There are few biomarkers that can be easily accessed in clinical settings and may reflect refractory Th2-eosinophlic inflammation and remodeling of the asthmatic airways. Serum periostin may be one such biomarker to aid our understanding of the patho-bio-physiology of asthma and exercise induced asthma. The aim of the study is to explore the relationship between serum periostin level and exercise induced bronchoconstriction in asthmatic children. Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional study was carried out on (90) children both sexes aged from 6 to 15 years including, (60) children with bronchial asthma and (30) children were enrolled as control group in the period from January 2018 to January 2019. Patients were randomly classified into two groups: I) Patient group: divided into 2 groups according to standardized treadmill exercise challenge test: Group A: (30) asthmatic children with positive test. Group B: (30) asthmatic children with negative test. II-Control group: (30) children apparently healthy with no personal or family history of asthma. All children were subjected to the following Investigations: Chest x-ray, pulmonary functions tests (FEV1 & PEFR) except controls, Laboratory investigations as CBC and Serum periostin level. Results: The mean values of both the percentage of PEFR and FEV1 after exercise in group A were significantly lower than those in group B and the percentage of PEFR and FEV1 after exercise in each group were significantly lower than the percentage before exercise in the same group. The mean value of eosinophilic count in group A was significantly higher than (group B and control group) and the mean value of eosinophilic count in group B was significantly higher than control group. The mean value of serum level of periostin in group A was significantly higher than (group B and control group), however, there was no significant difference between group B and control group as regard to serum level of periostin. Chest tightness, cough and wheezes after exercise and eosinophilic count in patients with high serum periostin level were significantly higher than patients with low serum periostin level, and both PEFR and FEV1 after exercise in patients with high serum periostin level were significantly lower than patients with low serum periostin level. Also the normal serum periostin levels vary among different age groups. Conclusion: Serum periostin level can be considered as a useful biomarker for diagnosis of Exercise induced bronchospasm (EIB) in asthmatic children especially when lung function test cannot be done However, cautious is required in evaluating serum periostin levels in children because it varies with age.

Behavioral problems are highly prevalent in adolescent children. Adolescence is characterized by several major morphological and functional / behavioral changes. Hyper activities at endocrine and nervous systems seem to be the major cause for the behavioral changes during this transition period. Yoga is found to be one of the effective methods that can influence various bio-systems and can be used in schools to establish physical and psychological well being. Asssessment of endocrine and nervous system is very expensive and tedious process which is only done in a clinical setting. Electro photonic imaging (EPI) is an emerging technology that can assess energy levels of various organs and organ systems in a non-clinical setting. It is a two group (yoga group and control group) study with pre-post data collection. Yoga intervention is given in an English medium high school during academic hours. About 60 students of 8th standard participated in the study with 30 samples in each of the group. Energy levels of endocrine and nervous system is taken for both groups by scanning all the 10 fingers before and after yoga intervention. Highly specialized BioWell equipment and software was used to capture the images. EPI parameters for throat energy, thyroid gland, hypothalamus and nervous system has shown significant difference between pre-and post values of yoga group and it has shown significant reduction in the mean value of post data of yoga group whereas the mean value of same parameters in post data of control group has increased. This clearly establishes the efficacy of yoga in normalizing the effect of the endocrinal system and the resultant nervous hyper-activity. EPI is capable of differentiating energy levels of endocrine and nervous system values of yoga and control group.

Background: Range of Motion (ROM) exercise has been identified in the literature that it has an effect in improving muscle strength, especially in patients with stroke. However, little is known about the effect of ROM exercise combined with hypnosis therapy.Objective: To determine the effect of combination of hypnosis therapy and ROM exercise on upper extremity muscle strength in patients with non-hemorrhagic.Methods: This study employed a quasy experiment with pretest-posttest control group design. Thirty-two samples were selected using simple random sampling, which 16 randomly assigned in the experiment and control group. Muscle strength was measured using Muscle Strength Scale. Hypnosis Deepening test was used to measure the level of hypnosis depth. Paired t-test and Independent t-test were used for data analysis.Results: The mean value of muscle strength in the experiment group was 3.50 and  the mean value in the control group  was 2.62. Independent sample t-test obtained p-value = 0.012, indicated that there was a statistically significant difference in the mean of muscle strength of upper extremity in the experiment and control group. Paired t-test obtained p-value = 0.000, which indicated that there was significant difference between the average of muscle strength value before and after treatmentConclusion: The combination of hypnosis therapy and ROM exercise has a significant effect in increasing muscle strength of upper extremity in patients with stroke non-haemorrhagic.

This chapter is based mainly on my experiences as a development member of industrial and research projects in which I have participated in the first years of my career. Team working is very different from acting as a single developer or consultant who has the entire responsibility and control of the assigned work. The main difference is that in individual work, you have to develop a single part of a project that matches your skills and knowledge, while in team working, the collective effort of different individuals with different knowledge and backgrounds can be mixed together in order to increase the mean value of the cultural level of the components. The knowledge and understanding of a team is greater than the mean calculated on all the individuals of the team, since each member benefits from the cultural level, skills, and suggestions of the other members.

Abstract We evaluated the analytical performance of six commercial direct radioimmunoassays of 17 beta-estradiol, those from Radioassay Systems Laboratories, IRE Medgenix, Biotecx Laboratories, Farmos Spectria, International CIS, and Diagnostic Products Corp. The mean value for estradiol (E2) and the within- and between-run CVs were determined for serum pools and control materials, measured in seven to 10 runs with each method. Mean values for E2 in pooled sera deviated by 75% to 350% from the means measured with our routinely used extraction method. Between-run CVs ranged from 4% to 14% for the direct assays as compared with 10% for the extraction assay. We also investigated, for two of the direct assays, the effect of extraction with diethyl ether before radioimmunoassay, with respect to improvement in the agreement with our extraction method. All of the assays were easy to perform and results were obtained within 4-5 h, but we conclude that matrix effects may be expected in direct assays of estradiol.

ABSTRACTIn this study, endometrial samples were collected in 14 Nelore cows on days zero (ovulation), five, nine, thirteen and nineteen of the estrous cycle (biopsy group), and in 15 females these collections weren't performed (control group). Biopsies were done on the uterine horn endometrium contralateral to the ovary with corpus luteum. Blood samples were taken at -24, -16, -8, 0 +8, +16 and +24 hours in relation to progesterone drop (<1ng/mL, zero moment) and evaluated for 13, 14-dihydro-15-keto prostaglandin F2-alpha (PGFM) by radioimmunoassay (RIA). Plasma progesterone concentration was determined by RIA every 24 hours. Data were analyzed by ANOVA using the PROC GLM and MIXED of the SAS. The mean value for PGFM during the entire period evaluated was greater in the biopsy group. The mean concentration of PGFM at moment zero was not different between the groups; the mean concentration of PGFM was higher in the biopsy group before and after the drop in progesterone level. The maximum mean concentration observed was not different between the groups; however, the mean minimum concentration was different with high values in the biopsy group. Although the PGFM concentrations were higher in the biopsy group, the biopsy and control groups had similar length of estrous cycle showing that repeated endometrial biopsy on the side contralateral to the ovary with corpus luteum does not affect luteolysis and the length of the estrous cycle.
