D numbers theory is an extension of Dempster–Shafer evidence theory. It eliminates the constraints of mutual exclusion and completeness under the frame of discernment of Dempster–Shafer evidence theory, so it has been widely used to deal with uncertainty modelling, but if it cannot effectively deal with the problem of missing information, sometimes unreasonable conclusions will be drawn. This paper proposes a new type of integration representation of D numbers, which compares the data of multiple evaluation items horizontally, and can reasonably fill in missing information. We apply this method to the user experience evaluation problem of online live course platform to verify the effectiveness of this method.

Catering Service of High-Speed Railway (CSHR) starts at suppliers, includes distribution centers and service stations in cities, and ends at cabinets in high-speed trains. In Distribution System Design (DSD) Problem for CSHR, it is critical to evaluate the alternatives of service stations, which is termed as Service Station Evaluation Problem in Catering Service of High-speed Railway (SSEP-CSHR). As a preparation work for DSD, SSEP-CSHR needs to be solved without detailed information and being accompanied with uncertainty. Fuzzy Quality Function Deployment (F-QFD) has been given in the literatures to deal with vagueness in Facility Location Evaluation (FLE). However, SSEP-CSHR that includes identifying and evaluating stations requires not only dealing with the vague nature of assessments but also confirming them. Based on evidence theory, this paper introduces the framework to give the truth of proposition “x is A.” Then it is incorporated into a two-phase F-QFD with an approximate reasoning to enable the truth of the decisions to be measured. A case study that refers to 85 alternative stations on Chinese high-speed railway will be carried out to verify the proposed method. Analysis shows that the proposed evaluation method enhances scientific credibility of FLE and allows decision makers to express how much is known.

User Interface/User Experience (UI/UX)  design is very important because with a good design that meets user needs, it can make users feel comfortable when using a product. One example is the Academic Information System (SIA), if the design of the SIA is not user friendly, it will have an impact on both the user and the system. Such as input errors, missing information, difficulties in using it. The purpose of conducting UI / UX analysis and design at SIA Universitas Jenderal Soedirman is to solve the problems experienced by users today. Users involved in this research are students. Design is made using the Design Thinking method and for the testing using Usability Testing.

Based on the background of sponge city, this paper discusses the necessity of studying permeable bricks from the permeable pavement, reviews the research on permeable bricks of industrial waste in China and abroad. Based on the mutual exclusion of materials and permeable bricks, a comparative analysis was carried out. Finally, the optimal permeable brick bricking method and a new type of cementing material—geopolymer were proposed.


One-point turbulence models are important tools for engineering analysis. A good model should have a viscoelastic character, predicting turbulent stresses proportional to the mean strain rate for slow deformations and stresses determined by the amount of strain for rapid distortions. Our goal is to build a one-point turbulence model with this character, and this requires a one-point model for rapid distortions. Here it is shown that the turbulent stresses introduced by Osborne Reynolds do not, by themselves, provide an adequate tensorial base for one-point modelling of rapidly distorted turbulence because they do not carry critical information about the turbulence structure. The deficiency is shown to be most pronounced in flows subjected to strong mean rotation. Additional one-point tensors that do carry the missing information are introduced, and the complexities of a model that would have an adequate tensorial base are assessed. A new type of one-point structure-based turbulence model that overcomes the basic deficiency of Reynolds-stress transport models, but without the excessive complexity of multiple tensor variables, is then described. The ideas behind the rapid distortion version of this new model are presented, along with results for some special cases.

Describing and processing complex as well as ambiguous and uncertain information has always been an inescapable and challenging topic in multi-attribute decision analysis (MADA) problems. As an extension of Dempster-Shafer (D-S) evidence theory, D numbers breaks through the constraints of the constraint framework and is a new way of expressing uncertainty. The soft likelihood function based on POWA operator is one of the most useful tools recently developed for dealing with uncertain information, since it provides a more excellent performance for the aggregation of multiple compatible evidence. Recently, a new MADA model based on D numbers has been proposed, called DMADA. In this paper, inspired by the above mentioned theories, based on soft likelihood functions, POWA aggregation and D numbers we design a novel model to improve the performance of representing and processing uncertain information in MADA problems as an improvement of the DMADA approach. In contrast, our advantages include mainly the following. Firstly, the proposed method considers the reliability characteristics of each initial D number information. Secondly, the proposed method empowers decision makers with the possibility to express their perceptions through attitudinal features. In addition, an interesting finding is that the preference parameter in the proposed method can clearly distinguish the variability between candidates by adjusting the space values between adjacent alternatives, making the decision results clearer. Finally, the effectiveness and superiority of this model are proved through analysis and testing.

The digital game industry has contributed disproportionally to the overall U.S. economy and GDP in spite of recent economic recession. The rapid ascent of MMORPGs as an increasingly popular digital game genre has affected the manners that gamers interact with each other to generate a new type of digital discourses and human experiences that are multimodal, synchronous, interactive, and engaging. Despite the existence of ample digital game research in user experience (UX) in the human-computer interaction (HCI) literature, there is a lack of programmatic exploration from a rhetorical perspective to examine the process and outcome of these digital interactions and co-generated discourses. Derived from the concept of “the rhetoric of experience,” this book chapter analyzed a representative gaming session captured in real time to study digital discourses that represent various aspects of gameplay experiences in World of Warcraft. The chapter discusses the methodological and theoretical implications of this approach to analyze and study MMORPGs and other digital game genres.

Electronic textiles (e-textiles) and wearable computing have been emerging increasingly during the last decade. Since the market interest and predictions have grown, the research into increasing reliability and durability of wearables and e-textiles is developing rapidly. The washability of different integration methods and resistance to mechanical stress are the main obstacles being tackled. However, the freedom of movement and overall comfort is still often overlooked during the development phase. It is essential to see the e-textile product as a whole and consider several aspects of user experience. This work will focus on developing and improving the thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) lamination integration method for e-textiles. In the work, a stretchable copper-polyimide based circuit was laminated onto knit fabric using various TPU films and stacks. The study shares measurable characteristics to determine which material assembly and design would ensure the highest durability for the electronics part without losing its original textile softness, flexibility and stretchability.

A new type of synthetic industrial diamond formed by an explosive shock process has been recently developed by the Du Pont Company. This material consists of a mixture of two basically different forms, as shown in Figure 1: relatively flat and compact aggregates of acicular crystallites, and single crystals in the form of irregular polyhedra with straight edges.Figure 2 is a high magnification micrograph typical for the fibrous aggregates; it shows that they are composed of bundles of crystallites 0.05-0.3 μ long and 0.02 μ. wide. The selected area diffraction diagram (insert in Figure 2) consists of a weak polycrystalline ring pattern and a strong texture pattern with arc reflections. The latter results from crystals having preferred orientation, which shows that in a given particle most fibrils have a similar orientation.

I. IntroductionThermionic electron gun with the Wehnelt grid is popularly used in the electron microscopy and electron beam micro-fabrication. It is well known that this gun could get the ideal brightness caluculated from the Lengumier and Richardson equations under the optimum condition. However, the design and ajustment to the optimum condition is not so easy. The gun has following properties with respect to the Wehnelt bias; (1) The maximum brightness is got only in the optimum bias. (2) In the larger bias than the optimum, the brightness decreases with increasing the bias voltage on account of the space charge effect. (3) In the smaller bias than the optimum, the brightness decreases with bias voltage on account of spreading of the cross over spot due to the aberrations of the electrostatic immersion lens.In the present experiment, a new type electron gun with the electrostatic and electromagnetic lens is designed, and its properties are examined experimentally.

After materials with superconducting temperatures higher than liquid nitrogen have been prepared, more emphasis has been on increasing the current densities (Jc) of high Tc superconductors than finding new materials with higher transition temperatures. Different processing techniques i.e thin films, shock wave processing, neutron radiation etc. have been applied in order to increase Jc. Microstructural studies of compounds thus prepared have shown either a decrease in gram boundaries that act as weak-links or increase in defect structure that act as flux-pinning centers. We have studied shock wave synthesized Tl-Ba-Cu-O and shock wave processed Y-123 superconductors with somewhat different properties compared to those prepared by solid-state reaction. Here we report the defect structures observed in the shock-processed Y-124 superconductors.
