A large amount of semantic content is generated during designer collaboration in open-source projects (OSPs). Based on the characteristics of knowledge collaboration behavior in OSPs, we constructed a directed, weighted, semantic-based knowledge collaborative network. Four social network analysis indexes were created to identify the key opinion leader nodes in the network using the entropy weight and TOPSIS method. Further, three degradation modes were designed for (1) the collaborative behavior of opinion leaders, (2) main knowledge dissemination behavior, and (3) main knowledge contribution behavior. Regarding the degradation model of the collaborative behavior of opinion leaders, we considered the propagation characteristics of opinion leaders to other nodes, and we created a susceptible–infected–removed (SIR) propagation model of the influence of opinion leaders’ behaviors. Finally, based on empirical data from the Local Motors open-source vehicle design community, a dynamic robustness analysis experiment was carried out. The results showed that the robustness of our constructed network varied for different degradation modes: the degradation of the opinion leaders’ collaborative behavior had the lowest robustness; this was followed by the main knowledge dissemination behavior and the main knowledge contribution behavior; the degradation of random behavior had the highest robustness. Our method revealed the influence of the degradation of collaborative behavior of different types of nodes on the robustness of the network. This could be used to formulate the management strategy of the open-source design community, thus promoting the stable development of OSPs.

As the network technique is fast developing, the microblog has been a significant carrier representing the social public opinions. Therefore, it is important to investigate the propagation characteristics of the topics and to unearth the opinion leaders in Micro-blog network. The propagation status of the hot topics in the Micro-blog is influenced by the authority of the participating individuals. We build a time-varying model with the variational external field strength to simulate the topic propagation process. This model also fits for the multimodal events. The opinion leaders are important individuals who remarkably influence the topic discussions in its propagation process. They can help to guide the healthy development of public opinion. We build an AHP model based on the influence, the support, and the activity of a node, as well as a microblog-rank algorithm based on the weighted undirected network, to unearth and analyze the opinion leaders’ characteristics. The experiments in the data, collected from the Sina Micro-blog from October 2012 to November 2012 and from January 2013 to February 2013, show that our models predict the trend of hot topic efficiently and the opinion leaders we found are reasonable.

Health opinion leaders have widely embraced social media for health promotion and public health communication which can make a strong influence on the public decision making. However, despite the growing relevance of public health threats such as infectious diseases, pandemic influenza and natural disasters, research has paid little attention to the qualities of opinion leaders. Moreover, there is limited evidence that public health organisations use social media appropriately to engage in meaningful conversations with audiences. Thus, the aims of the study are to describe principles of communication practised by online opinion leaders to promote health issues, to discuss the strategies of social media used, to explain the opinion leaders’ influence attributes in health decision making and finally to develop a model of online opinion leader in the contemporary health promotion era. Content analysis was conducted on Facebook postings of five selected health opinion leaders. In addition, semi-structured interviews with 10 followers were conducted. The findings of the study revealed that there are three principles of communication practised by online opinion leaders, which are language, interaction and themes. There are three strategies opinion leaders use to influence the public: social connectivity, social support and social consultation. Furthermore, there are five opinion leaders’ attributes that influence the public’s decision making, namely personality, authenticity, trust/credibility, professional knowledge and social position. The model would be beneficial in educating and guiding the current public health opinion leaders in order to establish health and social well-being. Open source design (OSD) is an emerging cluster design mode based on Internet, and it takes full advantage of knowledge, technology, and resources among designers to promote product development. In this mode, designers’ behaviors of collaboration have important influence on product development process. In this paper, firstly collaboration flow including two types of collaboration relations between designers in open source design is depicted. Secondly, two-phase collaborative behavior model including partner selection and response is built by means of utility functions. At last, simulation experiment including 4 scenarios is designed based on open source project of mobile phone and conducted by multiagent simulation, and contrastive analysis is carried out to study collaboration behaviors’ impact on open source design process. The results show that the two-phase collaborative behavior model elaborately describes structure evolution of Open Source Community (OSC) as well as designers’ collaboration behaviors and that different ways of partner selection behaviors have significant impact on the evolution of OSD process as well as OSC structure. Furthermore, the results suggest that designers should better consider more the factor of matching degree between designers but less collaboration record.

Weibo is a dominant twitter-like micro-blog media in China, which indicates the trend of social changes in recent years in China. Opinion leaders, in particular, have a marvelous power to influence the thinking of the mass to some extent. In this paper, we propose an innovative model which automatically revises the selection of opinion leader list and analyzes their influence in consideration of the amount of followers and friends and topics such as life, campus, government, public welfare and entertainment. Two-step strategy is applied to our model, namely self-revised opinion leader list construction and VSM-based influence analysis. Experimental results reveal that our model has a good performance on reflecting the analysis of the relationship between authoritative opinion leaders and the mass media.

Public opinion emergencies have important effect on social activities. Recognition of special communities like opinion leaders can contribute to a comprehensive understanding of the development trend of public opinion. In this paper, a network opinion leader recognition method based on relational data was put forward, and an opinion leader recognition system integrating public opinion data acquisition module, data characteristic selection, and fusion module as well as opinion leader discovery module based on Markov Logic Networks was designed. The designed opinion leader recognition system not only can overcome the incomplete data acquisition and isolated task of traditional methods, but also can recognize opinion leaders comprehensively with considerations to multiple problems by using the relational model. Experimental results demonstrated that, compared with the traditional methods, the proposed method can provide a more accurate opinion leader recognition and has good noise immunity.

Purpose This cross-disciplinary, empirical study aims to examine the phenomenon of organizational opinion leadership. Extant research concerning social capital and both referent and expert power suggests that informal opinion leaders within an organizational setting have the ability to influence their co-workers. This study focuses on the transformational leadership characteristics of idealized influence-attributed (charisma) and -behavior (role modeling). The social exchange aspects of the opinion leader–seeker relationship process are examined through an application of dyadic concepts found within leader–member exchange (LMX) theory. This study examines potential outcomes of opinion leader influence, specifically, opinion-seeker perceived organizational support (POS), affective commitment and normative commitment. Design/methodology/approach This study examines the dynamics of organizational opinion leader (OOL)–organizational opinion seeker (OOS) relationship to determine whether OOLs influence OOSs through role modeling and charisma, captured through the idealized influence aspect of transformational leadership. The OOL–OOS relationship is examined through the lens of LMX, commonly used to examine supervisor–subordinate exchange relationships. This study also examines whether OOLs’ idealized influence and OOL–OOS exchange relationships are related to OOSs’ perceived organizational support (POS) and both affective and normative commitment, and whether POS mediates their influence. Hypotheses are offered and survey data collected from a heterogeneous sample of 646 individuals is examined using structural equation modeling. Findings The results suggest that idealized influence consistently positively influences the outcomes. LMX-affect, -loyalty and -professional respect influence OOS perceptions of POS. Idealized influence and POS influence OOS affective and normative commitment. LMX-affect influences OOS affective and normative commitment, while LMX-loyalty influences normative commitment. LMX-professional respect slightly influenced OOS affective commitment negatively, suggesting that respect does not engender positive feelings and had no influence on normative commitment. Research limitations/implications This interdisciplinary study integrates concepts found within marketing, political science and organizational literature works to shed new light on the informal influence organizational members have on one another, which furthers our understanding of both shared leadership and opinion leadership. This research provides another frame for the concept of shared leadership, suggesting that OOL influence occurs horizontally and vertically within organizations. The overall findings suggest that both the characteristics of opinion leaders and the quality of OOL–OOS relationships matter. Practical implications This research highlights the importance of recognizing and enabling organizational members whose opinions are sought by their peers. Organizational opinion leadership exists within organization and influences organizational members’ attitudes and perceptions. Therefore, it is a necessity that organizations understand the phenomenon and guide it, much as organizational culture is guided, so that it produces positive organizational outcomes. Originality/value Very little research exists concerning organizational opinion leadership. This study breaks new ground by developing theory, applying accepted constructs to the phenomenon and empirically testing the impact of opinion leadership.

Tulisan ini membahas munculnya aksi solidaritas di media sosial Twitter. Dengan menggunakan kerangka teori connective action dan efektivitas gerakan di media sosial, tulisan ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan bagaimana aksi solidaritas di Twitter muncul dan menjelaskan aktor yang terlibat di dalamnya. Selain itu, tulisan ini juga bertujuan untuk menjelaskan efektivitas dari aksi solidaritas. Penelitian dilakukan dengan analisis media sosial dan analisis konten. Penelitian menunjukkan bahwa aksi solidaritas yang muncul di Twitter merupakan respons atas situasi krisis akibat pandemi COVID-19. Meskipun merespons isu dalam rentang waktu yang sama dan menggunakan narasi yang serupa, aksi solidaritas yang dimunculkan oleh individu, organisasi, dan komunitas dilakukan secara personal dan tidak saling terikat secara langsung. Namun demikian, tidak semua aksi solidaritas mendapatkan impresi/engagement yang tinggi. Aktor yang menjadi opinion leader, yang dipengaruhi oleh faktor indegree, retweet dan mention, memiliki pengaruh besar dalam melakukan aksi solidaritas.    This article discusses the emergence of solidarity actions on Twitter social media. Using the framework of connective action and the effectiveness of social media movements, this paper aims to explain how solidarity actions on Twitter emerge and explain the actors involved in it. Besides, this paper also aims to explain the effectiveness of solidarity actions. The research was conducted with social media analysis and content analysis. Research shows that the solidarity action that appears on Twitter is a response to the crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Although responding to issues in the same time frame and using similar narratives, solidarity actions raised by individuals, organizations, and communities are carried out personally and are not directly tied to each other. However, not all solidarity actions received high impressions/engagement. Actors who are opinion leaders, who are influenced by indegree, retweet, and mention factors, have a big influence in carrying out solidarity actions.  Keywords: solidarity; crisis; opinion leader; twitter; connective action

Potential tourists search for accommodation information once they decide to travel. Travel opinion leaders are critical accommodation information providers for potential tourists. However, we know little about travel opinion leaders’ perceived importance of accommodation information. The current study examined the relationship between travel opinion leadership and perceived importance of accommodation information. Results showed that there were significant differences in the perception of important accommodation information between the high and low travel opinion leadership groups. These results make theoretical and practical implications for tourism research and accommodation managers.

Abstract Background:Research has identified cognitive behavioral therapy with exposures (CBT) as an effective treatment for youth anxiety. Despite implementation efforts, few anxious youth receive CBT. Direct-to-consumer marketing offers a different approach to address the unmet need for youth receiving effective treatments. Involving a local caregiver key opinion leader in direct-to-consumer initiatives may be an effective strategy to increase caregiver demand for CBT. Research indicates that key opinion leaders improve health promotion campaigns, but key opinion leaders have not been studied in the context of increasing caregiver demand for evidence-based treatments.Method:Project CHAT (Caregivers Hearing about Anxiety Treatments) will test the role of key opinion leader participation in conducting outreach presentations to increase caregiver desire to seek CBT for their youth’s anxiety. Caregiver attendees (N = 180) will be cluster-randomized by school to receive one of two different approaches for presentations on CBT for youth anxiety. Both approaches will involve community outreach presentations providing information on recognizing youth anxiety, strategies caregivers can use to decrease youth anxiety, and how to seek CBT for youth anxiety. The researcher-only condition will be co-facilitated by two researchers. In the key opinion leader condition, a caregiver key opinion leader from each local community will be involved in tailoring the content of the presentation to the context of the community, co-facilitating the presentation with a researcher, and endorsing strategies in the presentation that they have found to be helpful. In line with the theory of planned behavior, caregiver attendees will complete measures assessing their knowledge of, attitudes towards, perceived subjective norms about, and intention to seek CBT pre- and post-presentation; they will indicate whether they sought CBT for their youth at three-month follow-up. Results will be analyzed using a mixed method approach to assess the effectiveness of a key opinion leader to increase caregiver demand for CBT.Discussion:This study will be the first to examine the potential of key opinion leaders to increase caregiver demand for CBT. If proven effective, the use of key opinion leaders could serve as a scalable dissemination strategy to increase the reach of evidence-based treatments.Trial registration:This trial was registered on clinicaltrials.gov (NCT04929262) on June 18, 2021. At the time of trial registration, pre/post presentation data had been collected from 17 participants; thus, it was retrospectively registered.

Recently, the impact of social networks in customer buying decision is rapidly increasing due to effectiveness in shaping public opinion. This paper helps marketers analyze social network’s members based on different characteristics and choose the best method for identifying influential people among them. Then, marketers can use these influential people as seeds to market products/services. Considering the importance of opinion leadership in social networks a comprehensive overview of existing literature has been done. Studies show, different titles (such as opinion leaders, influential people, market mavens and key players) are used to refer to the influential group in social networks whom we know as opinion leaders. The study shows all the properties presented for opinion leaders in the form of different titles are classified into three general categories including structural, relational and personal characteristics and based on studying opinion leader identification methods; appropriate parameters are extracted in a comprehensive chart to evaluate and compare these methods accurately.
