A stepped impedance resonator (SIR) is suitable for designing a dual-band bandpass filter (BPF) that can be adjusted to reject spurious bands. A BPF is proposed using an SIR T-shaped meander line and folded structure. The BPF mainly comprises a meander line, a folded structure, and a T-shaped line. A novel BPF is used for the T-shaped line, which operates as a band-stop filter connecting to the center of the BPF. As a result, the complete BPF enables dual-band operation. The insertion and return losses of the first frequency passband (f01) are 0.024 and 17.3 dB, respectively, with a bandwidth of 46% at a center frequency of 2.801 GHz (2.2–3.48 GHz). The insertion and return losses of the second frequency passband (f02) are 0.026 and 17.2 dB, respectively, with a bandwidth of 10% at a center frequency of 4.351 GHz (4.13–4.55 GHz). The proposed BPF provides low loss, a simple structure, and a small size of only 4.29 × 4.08 mm, and it can be integrated into mobile communications systems.

This paper studies a very simple structure for dual-band bandpass filter. Filter is composed of two asymmetric coupled resonator circuit by two sets of different size stepped impedance resonator. This circuit applied microstrip line, coupling principle and impedance ratio by controlling the stepped impedance resonator to control the center frequency 2.6/5.2 GHz of the first and the second bandpass filter. The basic structure of the filter is constituted by the three sections of transmission line and two sets of SIR, that is, in two gaps of the three sections of transmission line parallel connection the equivalent inductances and capacitor of the two sets of SIR in series with the resonant circuit (LCL) to constitute bandpass filter. The low frequency 2.6 GHz is through the upper half of low impedance SIR, and the high frequency 5.2 GHz is through the lower half of high impedance SIR. This paper presents the design of asymmetric SIR-based dual-band bandpass filter, the filter structure is simple, easy to produce and can control the characteristics of the passband center frequency. By electromagnet simulation software( IE3D ) to simulate, the actual production of the circuit using a vector analyzer measurement, simulation and measurement results show good consistency.

In this paper, a new structure for an integrated channelized active filter is proposed. This filter can be used as a channelized bandpass filter and again as a channelized band-stop filter. This is fulfilled by using one biasing voltage. In designing a three-channel bandpass filter, a recursive differential structure is used. Moreover, by subtracting bandpass filter output from an all-pass output, the proposed three-channel band-stop filter is achieved. A wideband amplifier plays the role of an all-pass filter. In addition, to decrease the noise of this filter, a noise-canceling circuit is adopted. By using this circuit, input impedance matching is obtained simultaneously. The center frequencies of the two-mode channelized filter are 2, 4 and 6[Formula: see text]GHz. In each of them, the center frequency is controlled via two biasing voltages. The maximum center frequency shift is 450[Formula: see text]MHz. For designing the proposed circuit, GaAs 0.15[Formula: see text][Formula: see text]m technology is applied. The occupied area is [Formula: see text][Formula: see text]mm2.

Due to the progression growth of multiservice wireless communication systems in a single device, multiband bandpass filter has attract a great attention to the end user. Therefore, multiband bandpass filter is a crucial component in the multiband transceivers systems which can support multiple services in one device. This paper presents a design of dual-band bandpass filter at 2.4 GHz and 3.5 GHz for WLAN and WiMAX applications. Firstly, the wideband bandpass filter is designed at a center frequency of 3 GHz based on quarter-wavelength short circuited stub. Three types of defected microstrip structure (DMS) are implemented to produce a wide notch band, which are T-inversed shape, C-shape, and U- Shape. Based on the performance comparisons, U-shaped DMS is selected to be integrated with the bandpass filter. The designed filter achieved two passbands centered at 2.51 GHz and 3.59 GHz with 3 dB bandwidth of 15.94 % and 15.86 %. The proposed design is very useful for wireless communication systems and its applications such as WLAN and WiMAX

A novel miniaturized wideband bandpass filter (BPF) using capacitor-loaded microstrip coupled line is proposed. The capacitors are loaded in parallel and series to the coupled line, which makes the filter just require one one-eighth wavelength coupled line and achieve filtering response with multiple transmission poles (TPs) and transmission zeros (TZs). Compared with the state-of-the-art microstrip wideband BPFs, the proposed filter has the advantages of compact size and simple structure. A prototype centered at 1.47 GHz with the 3-dB fractional bandwidth of 86.5% is demonstrated, which exhibits the compact size of 0.003λ2 g (λg is the guided wavelength at the center frequency) and the minimum insertion loss of 0.37 dB.

AbstractAn improved feedline configuration for dual-mode resonator filter is investigated in this paper. Based on the introduced topology, a dual-mode dual-band bandpass filter with center frequencies of 1.8 and 2.4 GHz is optimally designed, fabricated and tested. The introduced dual-band bandpass filter has simple structure and enables high selectivity to be realized due to two pairs of transmission zeros located near to the lower and upper passband, respectively. Both measured and simulated performances are presented with good consistency.

This paper presents a low loss fully embedded bandpass filter (BPF) using low temperature co-fired ceramic (LTCC) for multilayer System-in-Package (SiP) and Multi-Chip-Module (MCM) applications, e.g. wireless applications for the unlicensed 60 GHz band. The measured insertion loss was 1.5 dB at the center frequency 58 GHz, and a return loss of less than −10 dB was achieved, including two grounded coplanar waveguide transmission line (CPWg) to stripline transitions. The four layers BPF has a 3 dB bandwidth of about 11 GHz which supplies e.g. broadband and high data rate applications. The whole BPF requires a substrate area of 5.6 × 2.1 × 0.42 mm3 with transitions and a shielding via fence. This BPF suits well for V-band applications in a LTCC package because of the compact dimensions and the good performance.

Abstract A new design approach for a stepped impedance resonator (SIR) dual-band bandpass filter (BPF) with high multi-spurious suppression is proposed in this paper. The external coupling property of an SIR at multi-order resonant frequencies is fully studied. Different input impedances at desired frequencies are achieved by optimizing the unequal impedance transformer. The new solution shows the freedom in the choice of tapping point. The external quality values of multi-order harmonics vary with the shift of the tapping position. Wide upper stop-band rejection is realized by mismatching Qe at the unwanted harmonic frequencies, while keeping the Qe suitable for operating dual band to obtain good in-band performance. A traditional dual-band BPF and a novel practical BPF operated at 2.45/5.25 GHz are designed and fabricated to demonstrate the above idea. Good simulated and measured results are presented.

AbstractThis paper presents a compact quad-band bandpass filter (QB-BPF) using double-diplexing structure, which consists of two channel filters and a pair of modified manifold-coupled lines. Each channel filter is realized by the asymmetrical coupling shorted stub loaded stepped-impedance resonator (SSLSIR) dual-band bandpass filter (DB-BPF), and the modified manifold line constructed by lumped elements is proposed to connect two channel filters to constitute the QB-BPF. The fabricated QB-BPF occupies a compact circuit size of 0.178λ
