The subject of research is a phenomenon of prosumption, i.e., the intertwining of consumption and production processes, until the differences between them are blurred. When consumers produce goods and services for their use, they become prosumers. The article aimed to assess consumer behavior in terms of various forms of prosumer activity on the market of household-related services. The types of prosumer activity of rural households and their size were determined during the analyses. The article uses primary sources from a survey conducted among residents of rural areas of the Masovian Voivodeship in Poland in 2017. Statistical, descriptive, and comparative methods were used. The research shows that consumers are very active in the field of prosumption, rationally running their households. The study used principal component analysis (PCA) and selected descriptive statistics. The research results showed that the services performed can be grouped into three categories, i.e., the index of basic living self-sufficiency of households, the index of renovation and repair self-sufficiency, and the index of professional self-sufficiency of farms. Consumers usually prepare meals at home and clean, iron, and wash clothes, thus reducing the costs of running a household. It is also popular to carry out repairs oneself or to carry out repairs of equipment at home.

The subject of this paper is to determine how the COVID-19 virus pandemic affected the situation in Serbian villages. The task of the paper is to show the positive and negative consequences that resulted from the pandemic. This would indicate that some of them may represent a new idea, a chance, or would work in favor of the sustainability of the villages of Serbia. In support of objectivity, research was carried out among the population that inhabits the rural areas of Serbia. It examined the extent to which internationally recognized phenomena and consequences of the COVID-19 virus pandemic were present in the study area and considered the nature of their impact on sustainability. The results of the semi-structured questionnaire were processed using descriptive statistics, t-test, and analysis of variance (ANOVA). Respondents contributed to the conception of possible solutions with their comments. The obtained differences in the answers resulted from different socio-demographic characteristics of the respondents, but also from the fact that the villages of Serbia differ in natural and social characteristics. Respondents’ responses are in favor of economic and sociodemographic sustainability, but they do not think in terms of environmental sustainability. The paper reveals several development opportunities, which complement each other and contribute to different methods for sustainability of rural villages in Serbia.

The main purpose of the work is to define and characterize the level of financial literacy of students coming from rural areas in the Malopolskie voivodship in 2018. The main source of data used was primary information from the author’s own study (the PAPI method, a group of 170 respondents). The research used a set of questions to assess the level of financial literacy of adults proposed by the OECD INFE. In addition to primary sources, Polish and foreign literature on the subject was also used to achieve the goal. Total statistical indicators (mean, minimum, maximum) were used for data analysis and the non-parametric chi-square test (χ2). As results from the analysis, students are characterised by an average level of financial literacy, which may indicate a low effectiveness of financial education activities carried out at various levels of education in Poland. The factors determining the level of financial literacy of rural youth were gender and the field of study. Men and people studying economics were characterized by a higher level of financial literacy. Financial behaviour is a component of financial literacy in which students received the lowest results. The minimum target score in this module was obtained by only 24% of people.

The state has its purchasing power evidenced. Therefore, by using it strategically, it can influence the market, creating a demand for sustainable goods and services, through the inclusion of sustainable criteria in their purchasing and contracting process. On the other hand, the purchasing process has the action of public contracting agents as decisive element for the application of this process. Thus, it is relevant to know the perception of the agents on the subject, in view of possible obstacles to its implementation, even though the process is legitimized by State regulations. Therefore, the objective of this study was to analyze the perception of public contracting agents regarding sustainable public procurements and their application, by adopting a descriptive character with quantitative approach. The data were collected during the 2nd International Summit on Sustainable Public Contracting, held in Brasília, DF. The sample consisted of 77 public servants. The analysis used descriptive statistics and cluster analysis. The results indicate the possibility of inefficient training and qualification of the agents, as well as the recognition by the agents that the cultural factor is the main obstacle for the application of sustainable public procurements.

In recent years, there has been growing pressure on both universities and enterprises to intensify cooperation. The subject of this article here is academic entrepreneurship at the researcher level. The aim is to identify attitudes towards such entrepreneurship and define the diversity of attitudes. Moreover, it has been established how such attitudes towards entrepreneurship differentiate the intention and commitment to start cooperation with industry in reality. Achieving this aim required an empirical study involving primary sources. The study subjects were university researchers working on tourism issues, and a total of 73 participated. Methods from descriptive statistics and the chi-square test of independence were used to analyse the results. According to the study, researchers are much more likely to perceive the benefits than the disadvantages of cooperation, and the benefits perceived most are chances to obtain information and the inspiration to conduct academic and didactic work. The work also found that researchers who see academic entrepreneurship as an opportunity for financial benefit and see cooperation as an opportunity to increase enterprises’ competitive advantage significantly more often declare their intention to engage in it.

Although data on the subject are incomplete, available national data suggest that somewhat more than one million children with disabilities live in rural areas. These children face the special challenges of preparing for community life in environments where service systems are inadequate if not totally absent, funding for educational and other programs is typically meager, and persons with knowledge of disability-related services and issues—including the independent living philosophy and its application in the community—may be unavailable. It is important, therefore, that special education teachers become familiar with the independent living philosophy and its application for people with both physical and cognitive disabilities.

The purpose of the study presented in this paper is to indicate the conditions for, determinants of and barriers to female entrepreneurship. To meet the objective defined above, the author relied on the findings from her own survey conducted in 2019 with a sample of 213 women engaged in economic activity in rural areas of the Wielkopolskie Voivodship. In the group surveyed, most people offered trade-related services. Hairdressing and beauty services are another highly popular activity among the women covered by this study. Once collected from the respondents, the information was analyzed and described with the use of descriptive statistics methods. According to the respondents, the group of key conditions that promote entrepreneurship includes the availability of capital (funds for new and developing companies) and thoughtfully prepared educational and developmental programmes encouraging people to start their own business, as well as public policy for taxes etc. Other important conditions include adequate access to entrepreneurial instruments and measures, and adequate access to technical infrastructure. The interviewees believe that the greatest barrier faced when running a business is the complicated administrative procedure and a lack of startup funds.

The aim of this study is to investigate the factors influencing the entrepreneurial success of rural women entrepreneurs in Bangladesh. Non-probability sampling specifically convenience sampling is used to draw the sample and data is collected using the self-administered survey. Regression analysis and descriptive statistics are used to analyze the data. The study discloses that motivational factors, government policy and financial support have significant influence on the rural women entrepreneurial success in Bangladesh. Due to lack of suitable training and proper development as well as ICT knowledge, the rural women of Bangladesh could not accomplish the achievement. Half of the total populations of Bangladesh are female and most of them live in rural areas. Therefore, the government and the policymakers in Bangladesh should develop the potential of rural women entrepreneurs by providing development facilities, proper training, and ICT knowledge.
