As the attitudes of healthcare staff are thought to influence the quality and effectiveness of interventions targeting patients’ suicide risk, attitudes are often used as an outcome in the evaluation of suicide-preventive training. Due to various problems related to the validity and reliability of commonly used scales, there is a lack of overall agreement on how to measure these attitudes. Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was used to cross-validate previously used models and to investigate new models to measure professionals’ attitudes toward work with suicidal individuals and to test the longitudinal stability of the models by analyzing new sets of data. The population in the first study consisted of a heterogenous group of 1350 professionals who managed suicidal individuals relatively frequently. The second study included 640 professionals. The results of the cross-validation of previous models were described and a new questionnaire measuring attitudes toward suicide prevention, suicidal individuals, and organizational-facilitated self-efficacy (OSAQ-12) was presented. The three presented models retained a good fit and were stable over time. Valid and reliable measurement models that measure aspects of attitudes toward suicide are a prerequisite for conducting both cross-sectional and intervention studies.

Abstract Objective The spiritual well-being scale (SWBS) is a widely used clinical scale which should be evaluated for Iranian patients with cancer. The aim of this study is to evaluate the psychometric properties of the Persian version of the SWBS in Iranian patients with cancer. Method This cross-sectional, methodological study was conducted among Iranian patients with cancer (n = 400). The participants were recruited using convenience sampling. The content, construct, convergent and discriminant validity, and reliability of the Persian version of the SWBS were evaluated. Results A two-factor structure for the scale was indicated with the factors being: connecting with God and meaningless life that explained 54.18% of the total variance of the concept of spiritual well-being. The results demonstrated the model had a good fit. Cronbach's alpha, McDonald's omega, and the inter-item correlation values of the factors indicated good internal consistency of the scale. Significance of results These results suggest that the Persian version of the SWBS is a reliable and valid measure to assess the spiritual well-being of patients with cancer through 16 items related to connecting with God and meaningless life.

The previous literatures and studies told us workers in Emergency Services such as Paramedics and Ambulance Nurses face high risk of stress. One of the reason is the stressors they encounter during Emergency Responses. The aim of this study is to investigate various stressors face by Ambulance Nurses during Emergency Responses in Industrial Cities of Oil and Gascompanies in Qatar. This study is Descriptive Explorative and Verificative with design of Cross Sectional. There are 125 Ambulance Nurses Employees in this Industrial Cities included in this project. The research were conducted between June-September 2019. An total 100 Ambulance Nurses responded to the study and were analyzed using Principal Component Analysis with Software SPSS Trial Version. The Result of PCA reanalyzed with Confirmatory Factor with Software of Amos 24.The result of PCA revealed there are 23 stressors encountered by Ambulance Nurses during Emergency Responses which contains of 3 dimensions such as Internal, External and Environment. The aforementioned result of PCA reanalyzed with Confirmatory Factor Analysis using Software Amos student version yielded CMIN/DF=1,521, GFI=0,821, RSMEA=0,073. Conclusion: The finding suggest that Ambulance Nurses faced Multiple Job Stressors while responding Emergency Calls.The Instrument of The Sources Ambulance Nurses Stress during Emergency Responses to have adequate Validity and Reliability.

Purpose - This study aimed at the establishment of the psychometric properties of the UWES-17 itemed factorial structure.  This was done by examining the similarities and differences in  terms of model fit of the tri-factor model to a one-factor model.  Design/methodology/approach - Using a cross-sectional design, confirmatory factor analysis was used to evaluate the 17-item uni-dimensional and the 17-item tri-factor UWES respectively on a sample of 323 Education Assistants (professional teachers) in Uganda. Findings - The study confirmed an 11 item tri-factor UWES-Ug as a reliable and parsimonious factor structure within this cohort.Research limitations/implications - The sample was restricted to teachers and this limits the generalisability of the findings.Practical implications - On account of these results, the study sample evidently attests to the fact that work engagement is best represented as a tri-factor construct in Ugandan context.  This study contributes to theory by confirmation of the three-factor structure of work engagement in developing countries through use of perceptual data from a Ugandan sample. Originality/value - This is a pioneer empirical study that validates the UWES 17 itemed scale in Uganda.

The Exercise Addiction Inventory (EAI) is a brief validated instrument adopted by many to assess the risk of exercise addiction. Its revised version (the EAI-R) has been recently validated in English with a predominantly male sample. The current work examined the model fit, validity and reliability of the Hungarian version of the EAI-R (EAI-R-HU). This cross-sectional study was conducted online. A convenience sample of regular exercisers (n = 253) completed the EAI-R-HU and answered demographic questions. Confirmatory factor analysis revealed a good model fit for the Hungarian version of the instrument. The internal reliability of the EAI-R-HU was (Cronbach’s α) .71. Considering the top 20% of the EAI-R-HU scores, 5.1% of the sample was at risk of exercise addiction. Team exercisers did not differ from individual exercisers in the risk of exercise addiction. Age and exercise characteristics predicted weakly but statistically significantly the risk of exercise addiction. The EAI-R-HU possesses a good model fit, and its internal reliability is acceptable. These findings complement the original revision of the EAI-R, based on a largely (87.7%) male sample compared to the current research primarily based on female participants (76.7%). While cultural differences might exist, the present results encourage the use of the EAI-R with women too and with Hungarian samples, in general.A Testedzésfüggőség Kérdőív (EAI) egy rövid, validált eszköz, amelyet a testedzésfüggőség kockázatának felmérésére használnak. Az angol nyelvű módosított változatát (EAI-R) nemrégiben egy többségében férfiakból álló mintán validálták. Jelen kutatás a magyar változat (EAI-R-HU) egyfaktoros elméleti struktúrájának illeszkedését, validitását, és a kérdőív belső megbízhatóságát vizsgálta. A hozzáférhetőségi mintavétellel zajló adatgyűjtés online történt. Rendszeresen edző önkéntesek (n = 253) kitöltötték a módosított EAI-t (EAI-R-HU) és megválaszolták a demográfiai kérdéseket. A megerősítő faktoranalízis jó modellillesztést mutatott, a skála belső megbízhatósága (Cronbach-α) pedig 0,71 volt. Az EAI-R-HU pontszámok felső 20%-át figyelembe véve, a jelen minta 5,14%-a volt feltételezhetően a testedzésfüggőség kockázatának kitéve. A csoportban edzők nem különböztek az egyéni edzést végzőktől a testedzésfüggőség kockázatát illetően. Az életkor és a testmozgás egyes jellemzői gyengén, de statisztikailag szignifikánsan prognosztizálták a testedzésfüggőség kockázatát. Az eredmények alapján az EAI-R-HU jó modellalkalmazással rendelkezik és a belső megbízhatósága elfogadható. Ezek a megállapítások kiegészítik az angol EAI-R változatát, amely nagyrészt (87,7%) férfi minta alapján jött létre, szemben a jelen kutatással, amely elsősorban női résztvevőkön alapszik (76,7%). Bár létezhetnek kulturális különbségek, a jelenlegi eredmények ösztönzik az EAI-R alkalmazását a nőknél is és az EAI-R-HU felhasználását magyar kutatásokban.

The aim of this study is to develop a measurement tool to measure the attitudes of pre-service teachers in science fields towards nanotechnology. For this purpose, a five-point Likert-type scale consisting of 55 items was applied to 373 pre-service teachers who are enrolled in science fields (Science, Chemistry, Biology, Physics) at the grades 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th at a public university in Turkey. As a result of the exploratory factor analysis (EFA), it was determined that the scale had a 3-factor structure consisting of 24 items and the factors explained 55.854% of the total variance of the attitude variable. Verification of the model was tested by applying confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). The data used for CFA were obtained from 770 pre-service teachers who are enrolled in science fields at the grades 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th at two different public universities in Turkey. The results obtained from CFA were in agreement with model obtained by EFA. Cronbach's alpha (Cr-α) reliability of the scale was calculated to be 0.926. Findings from the validity and reliability analyzes show that the scale is a valid and reliable measurement tool that can be used to measure pre-service science fields teachers’ attitudes toward nanotechnology.

Background: Nursing shortages are a significant problem experienced by medical institutions worldwide as well as Indonesia. Understanding nurses’ work environment is a proper strategy for enhancing the retention and overcoming shortages of nurses. The Quality Nursing Work Environment (QNWE) is a well-known tool that has been commonly used to evaluate the working atmosphere of nurses. However, the availability and validated version of the instrument for hospital nurses in Indonesia is not confirmed.Purpose: This study aims to confirm the psychometric evaluation of the Indonesian version of QNWE instruments in hospital settings.Methods: A cross-sectional study design and psychometric analyses were administered. The 65-item, eight-domain questionnaire was translated, adapted, and face-validated using content validity index (CVI) analysis. The construct validity and internal consistency of the translated version were tested using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and Cronbach's Alpha to 334 hospital nurses. The intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) was employed to determine test-retest and interrater reliability analysis to 33 nurses and 10 ratters in the pilot testing.Results: The CVI of the QNWE-I scale ranged from 0.86 to 1.00. The CFA determined an adequate model fit of the instrument. As to overall reliability, test-retest reliability of 0.90, ICC analysis of 0.82, and Cronbach's alpha of 0.96; was confirmed.Conclusions: The psychometric evaluation of the QNWE-I showed excellent acceptability, validity, and reliability. Therefore, the QNWE-I can serve as a comprehensive instrument for assessing the quality of nurses' work environments in Indonesia.

Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the psychometric properties of the Turkish version of ‘attitudes of nurses towards the patient’s use of TCM’ (APUTCM) and ‘communicative competence in TCM’ (CCTCM) scales. Materials and Methods: A total of 196 nurses participated in the study. A Nurse Information Form, APUTCM and CCTCM, and Holistic Complementary Alternative Medicine Questionnaire (HCAMQ) were used for data collection. Content Validity Index, exploratory factor analysis, and confirmatory factor analysis, Cronbach’s α, item-scale correlation, test-retest, and parallel forms reliability were used to evaluate validity and reliability. Results: Of the participants, 76.0% were female and the mean age was 31.6±5.8 years. Content validity indexes of the scales were over 0.87. The factor loadings were over 0.612 for both scales. Cronbach’s α values of APUTCM and CCTCM were 0.955 and 0.928 respectively. Conclusions: Both scales were found valid and reliable in Turkish society to measure the attitudes of nurses toward the patient’s use of TCM and nurses’ communicative competence in TCM.

The purpose of this study was to examine the psychometric properties of the Portuguese versions of the Sport Anxiety Scale and of the Brief COPE, as well as of the Cognitive Appraisal Scale in Sport Competition– Threat Perception, namely regarding their factor structure validity and internal consistency. Participants were 550 male and female athletes of several sports, aged 15 to 35 years old (M=19.8; SD=4.5). Exploratory and Confirmatory Factor Analysis indicated that the instruments demonstrated good psychometric properties. In general, the measurement models provided a good fit to the empirical data and with the exception of some scales of the Brief COPE, the calculated Cronbach's a coefficient of reliability indicated adequate internal consistency for the three instruments. Overall, the results of the present study provided evidence for these instruments' validity and reliability, ultimately supporting their importance for research and psychological intervention in sport contexts.

Background: The aim of this study was to investigate the validity and reliability of the Korean version of the Suicide Opinion Questionnaire to measure Korean nurses’ attitudes toward suicide attempters.Methods: The questionnaire data were collected from 191 nurses who worked in emergency rooms, emergency wards and psychiatry wards. The internal consistency reliability and construct validity were evaluated using exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis.Results: The Cronbach’s α values regarding internal consistency were 0.51-0.79 for the subscales of the Korean version of the Suicide Opinion Questionnaire. The factor loadings of 18 items on the 6 subscales ranged from 0.54 to 0.84. The 6 subscale model was validated by a confirmatory factor analysis. The goodness-of-fit indexes were verified to be χ2/df = 1.56, root mean square residual = 0.04, goodness of fit index = 0.91, adjusted goodness of fit index = 0.86, Tucker-Lewis index = 0.9, comparative fit index = 0.92 and root mean squared error of approximation = 0.05.Conclusion: The findings indicated relatively satisfactory construct validity for the Korean version of the Suicide Opinion Questionnaire, whereas the reliability was not high. The current study indicates that the questionnaire should be used with caution when measuring nurses’ attitudes toward suicide attempters.
