The equitable distribution of public health facilities is a major concern of urban planners. Previous studies have explored the balance and fairness of various medical resource distributions using the accessibility of in-demand public medical service facilities while ignoring the differences in the supply of public medical service facilities. First aid data with location information and patient preference information can reflect the ability of each hospital and the health inequities in cities. Determining which factors affect the measured differences in public medical service facilities and how to alter these factors will help researchers formulate targeted policies to solve the current resource-balance situation of the Ministry of Public Health. In this study, we propose a method to measure the differences in influence among hospitals based on actual medical behavior and use geographically weighted regression (GWR) to analyze the spatial correlations among the location, medical equipment, medical ability, and influencing factors of each hospital. The results show that Wuhan presents obvious health inequality, with the high-grade hospitals having spatial agglomeration in the city-center area, while the number and quality of hospitals in the peripheral areas are lower than those in the central area; thus, the hospitals in these peripheral areas need to be further improved. The method used in this study can measure differences in the influence of public medical service facilities, and the results are consistent with the measured differences at hospital level. Hospital influence is not only related to the equipment and medical ability of each hospital but is also affected by location factors. This method illustrates the necessity of conducting more empirical research on the public medical service supply to provide a scientific basis for formulating targeted policies from a new perspective.

Concepts stand at the centre of human cognition. We use concepts in categorizing objects and events in the world, in reasoning and action, and in social interaction. It is therefore not surprising that the study of concepts constitutes a central area of research in philosophy and psychology. Since the 1970s, psychologists have carried out intriguing experiments testing the role of concepts in categorizing and reasoning, and have found a great deal of variation in categorization behaviour across individuals and cultures. During the same period, philosophers of language and mind did important work on the semantic properties of concepts, and on how concepts are related to linguistic meaning and linguistic communication. An important motivation behind this was the idea that concepts must be shared, across individuals and cultures. However, there was little interaction between these two research programs until recently. With the dawn of experimental philosophy, the proposal that the experimental data from psychology lacks relevance to semantics is increasingly difficult to defend. Moreover, in the last decade, philosophers have approached questions about the tension between conceptual variation and shared concepts in communication from a new perspective: that of ameliorating concepts for theoretical or for social and political purposes. The volume brings together leading psychologists and philosophers working on concepts who come from these different research traditions.

Congenital diaphragmatic hernia is a severe disease requiring diaphragm replacement mostly with expanded polytetrafluoroethylene. Unfortunately, the recurrence rate is high due to prosthesis failure with significant morbidity for the child. To provide a better understanding of the integration and possible failure processes of the biomaterial implanted in humans, we conducted electron microscopical and mechanical assessments on a prosthesis explant from a child with congenital diaphragmatic hernia presenting a recurrence. Our findings show a major penetration of connective tissue into the expanded polytetrafluoroethylene on the rough side, whereas the smooth side presents few tissue colonization. This penetration is more important in the central area (area A) with large collagen bundles and layers, in comparison to the peripheral areas without prosthesis failure (area B), where few extracellular matrix is produced. The connective tissue penetrates the prosthesis in depth. In contrast, the peripheral areas with prosthesis failure (area C) show very few cells and extracellular matrix, with an oriented organization in comparison to areas A and B. Obviously, the forces applied on the implanted material modulate the cellular behavior of the newly developed tissues. Atomic force microscopic measurements of the biomaterials’ surfaces may explain some cellular behaviors according to areas with or without failure.

A "Measles Year" ACCORDING to the reports of the U.S. Public Health Service, this is a measles year. For example, a total of 15,266 cases were reported for the week of January 29, 1949, compared to a five year median of 6,712. Increases were reported in all geographic divisions except New England and the West North Central area. The largest increases were in the East South Central and South Atlantic areas. Of the total that week, an aggregate of 10,522 cases occurred in the following 12 states: Massachusetts, New York, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Maryland, Virginia, Kentucky, Alabama, Texas, Oregon, and California. In contrast to measles, the influenza incidence picture shows an unusually low number of cases. For example, in the week of January 29, 1949, a total of 4,534 cases was reported, compared to a five year median of 14,253. List of Publications Under date of March 1948 the Children's Bureau has published a list of its publications. The list includes all publications of the Children's Bureau issued since 1945 that are available for general distribution; earlier publications of the Bureau that are still available and of current value; some reprints of material published elsewhere but reproduced by or for the Bureau. The development of professional women also results in all kinds of pressure. Through the survey of the status of professional women's occupational pressure, this paper aims to analyze the differences of the total pressure in age, disposition, education, marital status, type of work and demographics, so as to explore the main factors; besides, this paper will also study the coping situation and discuss the relationship between the way of release and occupational pressure. Hope to conduct a more in-depth study of professional women's stress from wider angles in all around, providing a scientific basis for most professional women to adjust the physical and mental state, relieve stress, avoid the negative effects of burnout and improve work efficiency. This research has adopted cluster sampling method, surveyed by way of questionnaire, and discussed the status and influencing factors of women's occupational stress. The investigation on the influencing factors and countermeasures of female occupational stress could provide a more effective way of pressure relief for the majority of women, improve their work efficiency and better serve society! Therefore, it becomes an important topic to study the stress of professional women.</span>

We measured the health resource agglomeration capacities of 31 Chinese provinces (or municipalities) in 2004–2018 based on the entropy weight method. Using a modified spatial gravity model, we constructed and analyzed the spatial correlation network of these health resource agglomeration capacities and their influencing factors through social network analysis. We found that: (i) China’s health resource agglomeration capacity had a gradual strengthening trend, with capacity weakening from east to west (strongest in the eastern region, second strongest in the central region, and weakest in the western region). (ii) The spatial network of such capacities became more densely connected, and the network density and level (efficiency) showed an upward (downward) trend. (iii) In terms of centrality, the high-ranking provinces (or municipalities) were Beijing, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Guangdong, Shandong, Hunan, Hubei, Fujian, Anhui, Jiangxi, and Tianjin, while the low-ranking were Tibet, Qinghai, Gansu, Ningxia, Inner Mongolia, Heilongjiang, Yunnan, Guizhou, Xinjiang, Hainan, Shaanxi, and Shanxi. (iv) Block 1 (eight provinces or municipalities), including Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei, had a “net spillover” effect in the spatial network of health resource agglomeration capacities; Block 2, (seven provinces or municipalities), including Shanghai, Jiangsu, and Zhejiang, had a “bidirectional spillover” effect in the spatial network; Block 3 (seven provinces or municipalities), including Anhui, Hubei, and Hunan, had a “mediator” effect in the network; and Block 4, (nine provinces or municipalities), including Sichuan, Guizhou, and Tibet, had a “net beneficial” effect in the network. (v) The economic development, urbanization wage, and financial health expenditure levels, and population size had significant positive correlations with the spatial network of health resource agglomeration capacities. Policy recommendations to enhance the radiating role of health resources in core provinces (or municipalities), rationally allocate health resources, and transform ideas to support public health resource services were provided.
