Many studies have investigated post-COVID symptoms, but the predictors of symptom persistence remain unknown. The objective was to describe the natural course of the disease at 6 months and to identify possible factors favoring the resurgence or persistence of these symptoms. COVEVOL is a retrospective observational descriptive study of 74 patients. All patients with positive SARS-CoV-2 PCR from March 2020 were included. We compared a group with symptom persistence (PS group) with another group without symptom persistence (no-PS group). Fifty-three out of seventy-four patients (71.62%) described at least one persistent symptom at 6 months of SARS-CoV-2 infection. In the PS group, 56.6% were women and the average age was 54.7 years old [21-89.2] ±16.9. The main symptoms were asthenia (56.6%, n = 30), dyspnea (34%, n = 18), anxiety (32.1% n = 17), anosmia (24.5%, n = 13) and agueusia (15.1% n = 8). Ten patients (13.51%) presented a resurgence in symptoms. Patients in the PS group were older (p = 0.0048), had a higher BMI (p = 0.0071), and were more frequently hospitalized (p = 0.0359) compared to the no-PS group. Odynophagia and nasal obstruction were less present in the inaugural symptoms of COVID-19 in the PS group (p = 0.0202 and p = 0.0332). Persistent post-COVID syndromes are common and identification of contributing factors is necessary for understanding this phenomenon and appropriate management.

Abstract INTRODUCTION The aim of this study is to evaluate the impact of laparoscopic colorectal surgery (LCS) on body image using the validated Body Image Scale (BIS) as a parameter of surgical quality. MATERIAL AND METHODS We conducted an observational descriptive study. Patients who underwent scheduled LCS between June 2015 and December 2019 by a General Hospital Coloproctology Unit were included. RESULTS The sample included 180 patients, 115 men (63.9%) and 65 women (36.1%) with a median age of 67 years. Right hemicolectomies (31.7%) and sigmoidectomies (28.3%) were the main procedures performed. In most patients, a suprapubic (69.4%) or transverse (19.4%) incision was made. 21.9% suffered some type of postoperative complication (13.9% wound complication, 10.6% incisional hernia). The general result of the BIS questionnaire was satisfactory, with a median of 0 in the responses (no alteration of body image). We found that 46.2% of the women had some alteration in body image, compared to 28.7% of the men (p = 0.018) and low and ultra-low anterior resection were the surgeries that obtained worst scores, with 13,5% and 12,5% respectively of patients with a BIS score above 5 (p = 0.044). Patients with a stoma also obtained worst punctuation (25% above 5 vs 6,1%, p = 0.001). No statistically significant differences were found regarding type of incision, presence of complications and anxiety or depression. CONCLUSION Study results show, in general, good post-surgical body image after LCS. However, patients with stoma and women were more dissatisfied. Interestingly, there is no worse body image due to type of incision, so we recommend the least iatrogenic one.

Bullying affects thousands of teenagers worldwide and has devastating consequences. Various studies suggest that the personality of teenagers is a risk profile for bullying. The aim of this study was to analyse the relationship between the personality of teenagers aged 14 to 16 years from three education centres located in the province of Seville (Spain) and bullying in any of its victim or aggressor roles. A multi-centre cross-sectional observational descriptive study was conducted in three education centres in the province of Seville (Spain). The sample consisted of 93 students. In order to measure the two main variables, the Bull-S test was used for bullying, and the EPQ-J questionnaire was used for personality traits. A descriptive and correlation analysis was performed between variables. The results showed that 14% (n = 13) of the sample were detected as victims and another 14% (n = 13) were detected as aggressors. Statistically significant differences were found between neuroticism (p = 0.044; Phi = 0.615), sincerity (p = 0.016; V de Cramer = 0.474), and anti-social behaviour (p = 0.007; Phi = 0.620) with the variables victim/aggressor. Bullies are typically males who score high on neuroticism and anti-social behaviour, with a tendency towards social dissimulation.

229 Background: Novel agents, such as abiraterone (A), cabazitaxel (CZ), and enzalutamide are currently available for the treatment of docetaxel (D)-treated metastatic castration resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC). The sequencing approach following D progression is still unknown. We now explore which factors are driving sequencing decisions in routine clinical practice in Spain. Methods: A prospective multicenter national observational descriptive study collecting data of 2nd line (L) treatments in mCRPC patients to analyze responses and progression to 1stL D. Results: 149 patients have been recruited from July 2013 to January 2015. Median age was 72 (48-89). Median D cycles was 6 (1-24), and median dose: 75 mg/m2 (30-75). 24 patients (16%) required dose reduction. The reasons for D ending were treatment completion (40%, n = 60), toxicity (15.3%, n = 23), progression (radiological, biochemical, clinical; 42%, n = 63), or others (2.7%, n = 4). 67% (n = 100) of the patients received A, 25% (n = 44) CZ, and 8% (n = 5) other treatments as 2ndL. From those who completed or progressed to D (n = 123), 2ndL initiation was mainly determined by two progression criteria (2C; biological and radiological), followed by one progression criteria (1C). This was independent of the 2ndL treatment chosen, and it was observed in similar ratios in both A (2C: 50%, n = 39; 1C: 37.2%, n = 29) and CZ (2C: 62.5%, n = 25; 1C: 27.5%, n = 11). Nevertheless, A was predominantly given when patients progressed after D ending, whereas CZ was mostly given when progressing during D (Table 1). Conclusions: A is the 2ndL treatment of choice in routine clinical practice in Spain, independent of the type and time of progression. CZ is preferentially used in patients progressing during D treatment. [Table: see text]
