Watershed ecological compensation, as an important means to protect the environment and promote the sustainable and coordinated development of upstream and downstream has wide concern in China. At present, the compensation accounting method only assesses water quality. When applied to some northern rivers represented by the Yongding River, which are facing water shortage, the assessment of water quality indicators alone cannot effectively compensate the ecosystem service providers for their expenditure on the environment. This paper proposes a transboundary water quality and quantity ecological compensation standard model, which couples the water quality ecological compensation standard of pollutant reduction and the water quantity ecological compensation standard based on the restoration cost method. We set up two scenarios using the model to calculate the amount of compensation payable under the actual scenario in 2018, which is USD 68.2 million. The amount of compensation under the local environmental policy target scenario is USD 10.6–82.668–529 million. It was concluded that the funds obtained from this model can cover the rehabilitation cost and meet the benefits of the upstream and downstream, making compensation funds more reasonable. However, based on the cross-sectional assessment, there is still a lack of integrity and comprehensiveness for the river basin. The development of watershed ecological compensation should move from the game of upstream and downstream interests to a win–win situation.

One of the key issues of river basin ecological compensation is the compensation standard. The opportunity cost has the character of uncertainty. The character of opportunity cost in river basin ecological compensation standard was studied on base of economics theory. The current opportunity cost accounting method didn’t consider the uncertainty of opportunity cost. The real option model of opportunity cost in river basin ecological compensation was set up based on the binomial expression real-option model. The Xin 'an river basin was applied for the model and tested the feasibility of the real option model.

Abstract. Conflict avoidance increases across the adult lifespan. This cross-sectional study looks at conflict avoidance as part of a mechanism to regulate belongingness needs ( Sheldon, 2011 ). We assumed that older adults perceive more threats to their belongingness when they contemplate their future, and that they preventively react with avoidance coping. We set up a model predicting conflict avoidance that included perceptions of future nonbelonging, termed anticipated loneliness, and other predictors including sociodemographics, indicators of subjective well-being and perceived social support (N = 331, aged 40–87). Anticipated loneliness predicted conflict avoidance above all other predictors and partially mediated the age-association of conflict avoidance. Results suggest that belongingness regulation accounts may deepen our understanding of conflict avoidance in the second half of life.

NSDL was registered by the SEBI on June 7, 1996 as India’s first depository to facilitate trading and settlement of securities in the dematerialized form. NSDL has been set up to cater to the demanding needs of the Indian capital markets. NSDL commenced operations on November 08, 1996. NSDL has been promoted by a number of companies, the prominent of them being IDBI, UTI, NSE, SBI, HDFC Bank Ltd., etc. The initial paid up capital of NSDL was Rs. 105 crore which was reduced to Rs. 80 crore. During 2000-2001 through buy-back programme by buying back 2.5 crore shares @ 12 Rs./share. It was done to bring the size of its capital in better alignment with its financial operations and to provide same return to shareholders by gainfully deploying the excess cash available with NSDL. NSDL carries out its activities through service providers such as depository participants (DPs), issuing companies and their registrars and share transfer agents and clearing corporations/ clearing houses of stock exchanges. These entities are NSDL's business partners and are integrated in to the NSDL depository system to provide various services to investors and clearing members. The investor can get depository services through NSDL's depository participants. An investor needs to open a depository account with a depository participant to avail of depository facilities. Depository system essentially aims at eliminating the voluminous and cumbersome paper work involved in the scrip-based system and offers scope for ‘paperless’ trading through state-of-the-art technology. A depository can be compared to a bank. A depository holds securities of investors in the form of electronic accounts, in the same way as bank holds money in a saving account. Besides, holding securities, a depository also provides services related to transactions in securities.

An evaluation of the water quality at the hatchery of Tanjung Riau was conducted to understand the water quality status at the several place of the hatchery unit such as brood stock tanks, larva rearing tank, water storage tank, fi ngerling tank as well as the source of the water supply. The water quality status of Tanjung Riau generally is in a good condition to support the hatchery activities, but for turbidity and salinity were in the exceed and below the normal status and its infl uence on the spawning activity. To overcome the problem on the spawning of the brood stock, the improving of water supply with higher salinity and low turbidity should be set up to ensure the succeeded of the spawning.Key words : Water quality, grouper brood stock, hatchery,Tanjung Riau Batam

The flow and the water quality of the rivers vary throughout the year. Very frequently the environment protection authorities set up a quality objective for the river water and this mini mum quality level is constant. So, it wou1d seem possible to accept variable quality standards for plant effluents. A first approach of the problem,by a small French task group,based on three actual cases leads to the provisory conclusion that such a regulation is suitable and presents economical benefit only in some very limit ed cases.

This paper examines the administrative and legal structure of the wastewater sector in Turkey, identifying its shortcomings and their causes, and suggests solutions. The study begins by outlining the existing administrative and legal structure, then focusing on the areas where difficulties are faced and seeking solutions to them. Those administrative and legal facets which have produced improvements and/or function effectively have been analysed so as to provide examples for other areas. When examining the sector it was observed that problems common to every area are the failure to adequately define powers and responsibilities, the lack of coordination between sectoral organisations, and the fact that attention is generally concentrated on routine matters of secondary importance. The fact that numerous organisations share powers in the same area causes confusion. Plurality also creates difficulties where enforcement is concerned. The existence of more than one set of regulations relating to the same area gives rise to loopholes. At the same time, unrealistic, and hence unenforceable standards undermine the effectiveness of sanctions. It has been concluded that a single organisation should be invested with the legal powers to lay down the principles of water management, that environmental courts should be set up to enforce legislation by means of sanctions; and that for this purpose existing legislation should be reexamined and revised as necessary and/or brought up to date.
