Russian bakery market in the context of the coronavirus pandemic

An attempt was made to analyze the state of the Russian market of bread and bakery products in the context of the coronavirus pandemic. The volume of bread sales in Russia has been gradually decreasing since 2000, but during the coronavirus pandemic, it increased by about 3% compared to the same period last year. Consumer preferences of the population have shifted towards socially significant cheap products such as bread and bakery products. The article considers the state of domestic production of fruit and berry products, their import and export. It is estimated that the production volumes of sugar confectionery products, including fruit and berry products, are almost continuously increasing. Marmalade accounts for a large share of the production of all fruit and berry products. Its share is 49.2%, including chewing marmalade with a share of 24.8%. Imports of these products are gradually decreasing. The assortment of imported fruit and berry products is dominated by ready-made confitures, jams, and fruit butter for retail trade (53%). Exports of these products are increasing from year to year, with exports to the CIS countries, China, and Mongolia dominating. Prospects for the development of the Russian market of fruit and berry products are formulated.

Organic agriculture, based on natural production technologies, obtains a great potential for reversing humanity to a healthy diet and living in harmony with nature by improving the state of the ecosystem. The share of organic food products in the market of the developed countries is already quite high; and various institutional systems of the industry have been introduced and are being improved in the leading countries of the world. Domestic agribusiness is currently lagging behind in these matters, but the situation should be significantly changed by the adopted law and state standard regulating the requirements for the organic sector. In this regard, an objective need arose to substantiate the capabilities and the resource potential of the Saratov region in this sphere. Within the framework of the presented research, an interdisciplinary fundamental platform to develop the theory of the organic food products market was formed. As a result, the elements of the scientific methodology (theories, principles, factors, methods) of its functioning were identified, which made it possible to substantiate the potential capacity of the regional consumer market for organic food. The calculation was made taking into account the rational norms of food consumption that meet modern requirements for a healthy diet, the heterogeneity of consumer preferences, the price gap for the main conventional and organic products in retail and the dispersion of prices for the latter, the implementation of state policy to protect and improve the health of certain population groups. This study is intended for the state management bodies of the agro-industrial sector, the leadership of agricultural, processing and marketing enterprises, the structures of wholesale and retail food products trade and branch research institutions.

The Object of the Study. Informal employment in Russia, factors affecting the development of informal employment. The Subject of the Study. Socio-economic policy in connection with the development of non-standard forms of employment in Russia. The Purpose of the Study. Developing of proposals for the transformation of socioeconomic policy in the context of the development of non-standard forms of employment in Russia. The Main Provisions of the Article. The main factors influencing the development of non-standard forms of employment are: the development of information and communication technologies and robotics, changing consumer preferences, demographic factors, changing the quality of the workforce, institutional factors, globalization. The proposals on the directions of socioeconomic policy, necessary for a positive impact on the situation with the state and development of precarious work in Russia are substantiated. The objective of such a policy in terms of precarious work is to reduce (reduce to “no”) its risks, expand positive opportunities for the parties to labour relations and society as a whole in the context of the development of the ICT and robotization. Measures are proposed in the field of the “lifelong learning” program, state regulation of the labour market (including in terms of improving the activities of state and non-state employment services, unemployment benefits, electronic personnel management), the development of a social partnership system (primarily in terms of improving activities of trade unions), the development of external institutions affecting the labour market and employment (Tax policy, Informing on the state of legal regulation labor relations). It is advisable to update the National Project “Labour Productivity and Employment Support”, providing for the whole range of issues of promoting productive employment, due to the development of its non-standard precarized forms.

The Russian market of biologically active additives, which include pancreatine and pancreatic enzymes — amylase, protease, lipase, has been analyzed. It was established that the study group is represented by a wide range (approximately 150 names), which is represented mainly by foreign manufacturers (approximately 80%). The monotonous tendency to increase sales by volume in all regions of the Russian Federation over the past 5 years has been analyzed. It should be noted that, today consumer preferences biologically active additives of domestic production despite the significant share of imported dietary supplements in the supply structure. High demand is primarily due to the accessibility and increased trust and loyalty of modern consumers to national producers of biologically active additives .

The events that took place in 2020 in terms of the epidemiological component in the world entailed global changes in almost all sectors of the economy. The state in which the whole world is today, as well as business, receives new requirements for the health care system, education, economy, law, transport and so on. Today it has become clear that the usual business processes have changed and will no longer be the same, moreover, they will change faster than before. Companies have become even more closely monitoring modern trends and began to adapt to current consumer preferences, thus they will be able not only to maintain their position in the market, but also to increase their customer base.

This article reads Antjie Krog’s volume of poetry Mede-wete and its English version Synapse (both published in 2014) against the background of Rebecca Walkowitz’s proposal that the future of comparative literature will entail what she calls ‘foreign reading’. In her contribution to the American Association of Comparative Literature’s 2015 report on the state of the discipline of comparative literature (http://stateofthediscipline.acla.org) Walkowitz argues that literary texts increasingly enter the world in different languages and that this requires readings that move away from the idea that literary texts ‘belong’ to a single language, that explore the diverse ways in which they are read in different languages and that acknowledges that literary texts exist in the space created by a language’s relationship to other languages. This article takes Walkowitz’s observations as the vantage point for a discussion of the ways in which Krog’s volume (1) foreignises the Afrikaans language in order to become part of an interconnected whole; (2) urges readers, critics and literary practitioners to move beyond the confines of language-based literary systems; and (3) forces them to engage in a variety of different readings, including partial readings and collaborative readings, in order to become embedded in a larger community

AbstractWhile many studies have evaluated consumer demand for local foods, fewer studies have focused on the mechanism that has created the positive willingness-to-pay for local foods. This article compares the role of geographic distance and attachment value in consumer preferences for locally produced hard cider. Consumer valuations are estimated via a “branded” discrete choice experiment where the respondents chose between an in-state hard cider, an out-of-state hard cider, and a no buy option. Our measure of travel distance is based on the optimal driving route between each consumer's GPS location and the locations of the cideries while our attachment value measure is based on social capital theory. This allows us to analyze individual-specific travel distance heterogeneity in consumer choice as it relates to attachment value. Based on a latent class logit model estimated from a discrete choice experiment with 441 participants, we show that attachment value is higher for a cider produced within the state than for a cider produced outside the state. Furthermore, we show that increases in attachment value increase demand for locally produced hard cider more than an equal increase in attachment value for non-locally produced hard cider. Our findings are consistent with “local” preferences based on geopolitical boundaries (e.g., the state of Michigan) and not distance. (JEL Classifications: B55, M3, Q13, C83)

Purpose. The article attempts to present interdisciplinary assessment of collaborative consumption in Poland’s tourism industry. Method. From the empirical side, the used results were from an earlier empirical study, pioneering within the Polish market, conducted in 2015 by one of the authors. In addition, for the purposes of this article, an original study was conducted, the aim of which was to examine the impact of changing consumer preferences in the segment of business travel, for the hotel industry in Poland. Findings. The study shows that the hotel industry in Poland has not yet experienced felt any significant impact of the new competition, although it notes the potential for the appearance of this impact in the future. Research and conclusion limitations. In the theoretical and practical sphere,it results from the extremely complex nature of the studied phenomenon, and the initial phase of development on the Polish market, which results in poor recognition of this phenomenon in the area of tourism (especially on the Polish market). Practical implications. New opportunities for multi-disciplinary empirical research. The authors draw attention to the need for in-depth analysis of the phenomenon in three main areas of research: the relationship between the change in consumer behavior and the development of various forms of collaborative consumption, the impact of new business models using the idea of joint consuption on the tourist market and the determinants of competitiveness and the impact on the social, economic, institutional and legal Environments. Originality. In the literature lacks a comprehensive development presenting the state of collaborative consumption in the area of tourism on the Polish market. Type of paper. The article is mostly theoretical.
