The food chain is made up of the different stages that the product follows from its origin to its final destination: production, transformation, storage, distribution and consumption. Throughout the chain, the traceability of the food is key to alert of any potential danger, establishing comprehensive food safety, from the beginning to the end, “from farm to fork". The transformation that is taking place in society thanks to the most avant-garde information and communication technologies (ICTs), is also breaking into the food chain, constituting the food industry 4.0, which is available at the service of each link through intelligent systems that allow obtaining safer, higher quality products in less time. Each ICT will offer different development possibilities thanks to its particular characteristics, so that in each link the most appropriate technology will be selected to solve the specific problems posed. This work aims to carry out a review of all these avant-garde tools, describing how thanks to these disruptive technologies, the processes of the food chain are being transformed, increasing, at the same time, the safety and quality of the products obtained and evaluating the possible associated social repercussions.

Information communication technologies bring the revolution into all business sectors, and transportation sector is not an exception. Ticketing system has changed from traditional to intelligent, which provides information and service to the consumer. In developed countries such systems are implemented and operate successfully, while in the developing countries electronic ticketing and other similar innovative solutions face specific challenges. These challenges are related to information era and changes in consumer behaviour, caused by the development of information and communication technologies. In these new conditions the motives of consumers to choose electronic ticketing has become an extremely important factor of success. Lack of integrity of consumer behaviour and technology acceptance (electronic ticketing in particular) was identified in previous scientific research, especially taking into consideration recent conditions of developing countries. The aim of this article is to evaluate the consumers’ behaviour and acceptance of intelligent systems, such as electronic ticketing, in order to identify factors, influencing and encouraging the customers to use electronic ticketing systems. In this study extended technology acceptance model with trust element was used to measure the consumer behaviour. The sample for this research has been taken from China and Pakistan populations and consists of 432 participants from both countries.

Within the last years mechatronics as a self-contained discipline doubtlessly shaped the development of technical systems. Mechatronics means the close interaction of mechanics, electronics, control engineering and software engineering in order to achieve a better systems behavior. Due to the outstanding deployment of information and communication technologies, the functionality of mechatronic systems will go far beyond the known standards with the intention to increase their robustness, flexibility and reliability. The objective is to develop intelligent systems that react autonomously on changing environmental conditions and optimize their behavior during operation. The design of such advanced mechatronic systems is a challenge. Additionally to mechanical, electrical, control and software engineers also expertise from mathematical optimization, artificial intelligence and even cognitive science is necessary. This requires an effective and continuous cooperation and communication between developers from different domains during the whole development process. As a consequence a domain-spanning methodology is necessary in order to guarantee an effective work flow between the participating developers from various domains and their domain-specific methods, terminologies and solutions. For this purpose an ontology-based computer support will be presented, that facilitates the systems engineer by analyzing the functional system model and identifying convenient solutions. This includes the generation and storage of once proven design solutions as well as the search for the effective and domain-spanning reuse.

The relevance of the work is due to the global process of informatization, which is observed in any field of human activity, especially in education. Recently, new and non-standard information and communication technologies have been widely used in educational institutions. This phenomenon contributed to the intensive development of educational institutions, which made it possible to successfully solve many problems of the modern education system: various forms of educational materials, the availability of education, the use of new technologies and teaching methods, and many other problems. This article presents the theoretical foundations of the use of English-language TV channels for the formation of intercultural competence in English classes. This study examined methods for defining concepts and components of cross-cultural competence. Explains the peculiarities of using English-language TV channels in the context of an intercultural approach to teaching foreign languages.

This article is devoted to the standardization of bibliographic terminology. All Soviet and Russian standards , containing the terms in the field of bibliography are considered. The characteristic of the structural and content changes are given. The results of the studying existing domestic SIBID standards, including bibliographic terms are presented. The analysis of their content is carried out, approaches to systematization and terms definition are studied. The development of standardized bibliographic terms were traced through the normative documents. It is concluded that a number of terms are present in the two standards and have different definitions. At the same time, they have not been abolished, that leads to conflicting interpretations in various fields of activity. The lack of bibliographic terms that take into account the features of modern information and communication technologies is indicated. The content of these existing standards is illustrated by specific examples, that today certainly need to be updated. As a result, it was found that the basic standards reflecting the bibliographic terminology are largely outdated and do not correspond to the conceptual apparatus of modern library and information science and practice. The need to develop a national standard «Library and information activities. Terms and definitions» in which is proposed to include only general concepts relevant to the field of bibliography, becomes evident. At the same time, a specialized national standard “Bibliographing. Bibliographic resources. Terms and definitions», that should accumulate all the terms that reflect the processes of creating bibliographic information (bibliography, a special case of which is cataloguing) and diverse forms and types of its existence (bibliographic record, bibliographic reference, bibliographic resource), is being developed. The key term is “bibliographic resource” – the term, which has never been presented in the SIBID terminology standards before. An attention to the controversial issues of terminology is paid. The structure of the standard under development is proposed.

The article is devoted to the topical subject of standardization, which is one of the development drivers. The author presents definition of the concept Standardization, reveals its value and management procedure in relation to library activity. The article describes the development of new Standard “Library and Information Services”, launched in 2017 at the Center for Study of the Development of Libraries in the Information Society of the Russian State Library. It is important to note that this type of library and information activities has never been standardized in international and national standards. The purpose of the Standard is to streamline the terminology system of library and information services, to revise and adjust term definitions and to reflect new terms related to information and communication technologies. The need to develop firstly the terminology of library and information services is associated with ambiguity of interpretation of most terms. The author presents the structure of the standard, considers the problems and discussions arisen at its creation and connected with ambiguous understanding of the basic term, of the concepts of “type” and “form” of library and information services. The author describes the sequence of development of the standard, names the terms reflecting the use of modern information and communication technologies in library and information services, indicates the libraries and higher educational institutions of culture, which most actively participated in the discussion of Standard and offered their comments. The article considers observations and proposals contained in the reviews of Standard, presents some accepted and rejected terms, as well as provides quantitative characteristics of the accepted, partially accepted and rejected remarks. The standard can be used for reference, as it captures modern understanding of the terms of library and information services, in planning, reporting and forecasting; it will facilitate the correct exchange of professional terminology among members of the professional community. Terms and definitions of the basic concepts of library and information services are intended for use by employees of library institutions, as well as by employees of scientific and technical information services.

In the 21st century, militaries are no competing for military dominance through specific superior weapon systems but through networking these systems via information and communication technologies. The ‘Revolution in Military Affairs’ (RMA) relies on network centric warfare, ‘precision’ weaponry and ‘intelligent’ systems such as uninhabited, modular, globally connected robot systems. While some Western forces (and the U.S. Central Intelligence Service C.I.A.) claim that robots help to avoid the death of one’s soldiers (respectively agents), NGOs point out the increase of killed civilians. In my paper, I discuss the deployment of uninhabited combat aerial vehicles (UCAV) in Western ‘wars on terror’ and their political and techno-ethical consequences. The question arises whether the new military philosophy, network centric (armchair) warfare, targeted assassinations and robot technology work towards the weakening of international humanitarian law.
