Echo boomers or generation ME, better known as ‘Millennials’, are people whose daily activities are inseparable from the involvement of technological and information developments. The dependence of echo boomers on modern technology in every line of life is not necessarily parallel to their interest in conducting research on this subject. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct a study that examines the involvement of digitalization in the research of millennial generations. The data sources used in this study were German Department students consisting of students of German study programs and Chinese study programs as well as thesis works produced by students from both study programs between 2015 and 2019. The research data was obtained through interviews and documentation, and the findings data analyzed qualitatively. The results showed that there were not many studies by students involving information technology. The role of digitalization is mostly found in research on the development of learning media, a small portion of which occurs in the application of teaching materials and learning media. Keywords: digitalization, research, millenial generation

This paper discusses the importance of corporate governance and the need to implement it effectively in any organization. Furthermore, information technology is discussed along with its impact on enabling an organization to achieve its business goals and attain a competitive edge in industry. This makes IT a critical organizational resource with great strategic impact and necessitates that it be governed effectively through sound IT governance efforts. However, currently there seems to be a significant lack of board-level understanding with respect to the impact of IT on the business and therefore IT may not be adequately directed and controlled. To address this problem, a model is proposed in this paper to enable the board of an organization to develop an understanding of how to issue directives and implement effective control over IT so that IT supports organizational business goals and continues to provide value to an organization.

The concept of Industry 4.0 has considerably altered the way organisations operate and has impacted every aspect of life. Furthermore, the fast-growing trend of information technology (IT) transformation in organisations and huge IT investment by Malaysian government have triggered the significance of IT risk and its related controls. Besides, technology-enabled auditing and IT-oriented audit procedures have become crucial when performing audit tasks in an electronic environment. Although many initiatives are being implemented to improve technology usage, audit technology use among auditors is still low and auditors are not attaining sufficient progress in the use of technology. This implies the current strategies and policies may not effectively support technology implementation. In the same vein, the under-utilisation of technologies was reported due to inadequate governance. Thus, this study intends to investigate the impact of IT governance on audit technology performance. IT governance is a mechanism to stimulate anticipated behavior in the use of technology among the employees of an organisation. Surveys using closed-ended questionnaires were distributed to approximately 309 Malaysia public sector auditors. The results show that IT governance mechanisms such as IT strategy and management support significantly influence the audit technology performance. IT governance does play a significant role in assuring the successful utilisation of audit technology.

In 2003, Eric Kriss, of the Executive Office of the Governor of Massachusetts, advised all employees that the Executive Branch would begin a transition of its information technology resources into open standards. The intent of the plan was the standardization of the IT infrastructure and the improvement of interoperability across agencies. The Executive Office later extended the open standards policy to electronic documents. In the quest to make documents accessible across agencies, Open Document Format (ODF) was declared to be the preferred format for storing data. This decision provoked a serious conflict between Microsoft and the Executive Branch after it became clear that proprietary open document formats, such as the one that was being offered by Microsoft, were declared to be unacceptable. This case explores the decisions that the champions made, the role that politics played in the process and the impact of these decisions on the ODF implementation.

Given that the role of information technology (IT) governance and enterprise risk management (ERM) within the organization are imperative due to the ever-increasing complexity in the corporate environment, this study aims to uncover the relationship between IT governance and ERM along with the impact of the two frameworks’ interconnectedness on the organization’s performance through empirical literature review. Furthermore, the findings obtained from the empirical review are also used to create a checklist that every organization can apply. The purpose of the created checklist is to help organizations examine the interconnectedness of their IT governance and ERM with respect to their needs and objectives. The findings from the empirical review show that both IT governance and ERM emphasize the importance of strategic and process alignment regarding its implementation, and it is positively significant to the organization’s performance. Hence, the level of effectiveness of one’s IT- and risk-oriented approaches are dictated by how well an organization appropriately aligns its IT governance and ERM structure, mechanism, and process with its objectives, needs, and business operations.
