Corrective feedback has attracted more and more attention as it has an important place in language teaching and learning process (Kim, 2004). In this respect, Sheen and Ellis (2011) define corrective feedback as “the feedback that learners receive on the linguistic errors they make in their oral or written production in a second language (L2)” (p. 593). The main aim of this study is to investigate the most and the least corrective feedback types preferred by primary school and university students. The participants of the study determined by the convenience sampling method comprise 50 primary school and 50 university students. Students are required to mark the feedback types they prefer when they make errors. The results indicate that recasts and asking direct questions are the most favored feedback types chosen by students despite the proficiency level gap.

<p>For decades now, there has been a good deal of research on factors affecting students’ oral corrective feedback preferences. Although it has been proven that learners’ characteristics such as their verbal intelligence and attitude toward error correction are highly effective in students’ preferred type of oral corrective feedback, the claims regarding the impact of learners’ proficiency level on their choice of oral corrective feedback have yet to be fully substantiated. In order to take this line of research one step forward, it is important to examine the potential effect of students’ level of proficiency in error correction literature. To this end, this paper aims to shed light on lower and higher level learners’ opinion about corrective feedback issues in an EFL context.</p>

Resilience as a capacity to withstand stress and calamity is one of the important components of mental health and aggressive is a negative behaviour that can threaten human health. So, the purpose of this study was to investigate the correlation between resilience with aggression and hostility in university students. The research method is correlation, 155 university students were selected by convenience sampling method and responded to Corner & Davidson resilience questionnaires and Boos & Perry aggression and hostility questionnaire. The data were analysed by correlation formula. The results showed that there is a significant and negative correlation between resilience with aggression and hostility, which means when the score of resilience is high, people's aggression and hostility decreases. Therefore, it is recommended to increase the resilience of people by specific teaching programs to reduce the basis of aggression and hostility.Disclosure of interestThe authors have not supplied their declaration of competing interest.

Abstract This study investigated the effects of comprehensive feedback on learners’ grammatical accuracy during text revision and in new writing tasks in light of proficiency level. It also sought to determine to what extent learners’ proficiency level plays a role in their feedback preferences and attitudes towards the feedback. The participants were 52 low proficiency and 39 high proficiency foreign language university learners, who were randomly assigned to a direct corrective feedback, a metalinguistic feedback with rule reminders, and a self-correction group. All learners wrote four compositions and completed a questionnaire after the treatment to elicit their attitudes towards the feedback and their feedback preferences. Results showed that the treatment effectively enhanced both low and high proficiency learners’ immediate grammatical accuracy and accuracy improvement. Also, a relation between proficiency level and learners’ attitudes towards the feedback as well as an association between proficiency level and learners’ feedback preferences were found.

La enseñanza de la lengua y la literatura ha de ser una experiencia lúdica y sensorial para el alumnado, sobre todo a la hora de desarrollar contenidos curriculares referidos a la reflexión sobre la propia lengua y la gramática. Este trabajo expone una investigación empírica llevada a cabo mediante el trabajo de campo y la realización de actividades lúdicas en torno a los usos del lenguaje, desarrollada primero con 18 alumnos del Grado de Maestro de la Facultad de Educación de Soria (Universidad de Valladolid) y, después, con 274 escolares de seis centros de Educación Primaria de la ciudad donde desarrollan sus prácticas curriculares. La experiencia consistió en la realización, bajo la supervisión de sus tutores, de actividades a modo de juegos creativos en tres niveles lingüísticos: letras, palabras y textos. Los objetivos planteados fueron: despertar la curiosidad y el sentido critico del alumnado participante en la experiencia, tanto universitario como de la etapa de Educación Primaria; propiciar la reflexión sobre el código lingüístico para mejorar la expresión oral y escrita de los escolares; y facilitar la asimilación de diversos contenidos curriculares de forma libre, autónoma y cooperativa. Al presentarse como juegos, pudieron aplicarse con igual rendimiento en estas dos etapas educativas (Primaria y Universidad). En su realización, los errores se contemplaron como una oportunidad creativa. Los resultados obtenidos confirman el valor de la enseñanza de la gramática de forma lúdica y creativa. La mayoría de los escolares de Educación Primaria mejoró los resultados en cuanto a esfuerzo, corrección lingüística o lectura en voz alta; por su parte el alumnado universitario apreció la importancia de incluir recursos lúdicos en los procesos de enseñanza y aprendizaje, al repercutir sobre una mejor actitud afectiva del alumnado, reforzando la importancia de la sugestopedia como metodología en la enseñanza lingüística. Este trabajo expone una experiencia basada en actividades lúdicas que han sido desarrollada primero con 18 alumnos del Grado de Maestro de la Facultad de Educación de Soria (Universidad de Valladolid) y, después, con 274 escolares de seis centros de Educación Primaria de la ciudad donde desarrollan sus prácticas curriculares. Teaching language and literature should be a ludic and sensorial experience for students, especially when it comes to developing curricular content targeting students’ own reflection about their language and grammar. Data were obtained through the completion of creative and playful activities about language, developed first with 18 students of Education Degree in Soria (University of Valladolid) and, later, with 274 students from six Primary schools where university students developed their curricular practices. The experience consisted of the design and conduction, under school tutors’ supervision, of creative games which targeted three linguistic levels: letters, words and texts. More specifically, the objectives included: to awake learners’ curiosity and critical thinking; to promote reflection on the linguistic code for improving oral and written expression; and to facilitate the assimilation of several grammatical contents freely, autonomously and cooperatively. Since these activities were presented as games, they were applied with the same performance levels at university and at primary school settings. Mistakes were considered opportunities for creativity. The results obtained confirm the value of teaching grammar in a playful and creative way. Most of the Primary students improved their results in terms of effort, linguistic correction and reading aloud. University students highlighted the importance of including recreational resources in teaching and learning processes as this had a positive effect on primary school learners’ affective attitude. The results obtained reinforce the importance of suggestion-pedagogy as a method in language teaching. This work exposed an experience with 18 university students from Education Degree in Soria (University of Valladolid) who have been involved as part of their own university training and later they have applied this experience to 274 students from six schools of the city, during its curricular practices. This experience consisted, under the supervision of their tutors in Schools, in several activities applied as creative games with three linguistic levels: letters, words and texts, with the aim of awakening curiosity and critical sense, promoting reflection on the linguistic code and improve oral and written expression, while assimilating various grammatical contents freely, autonomously and cooperatively. When activities are presented as games, they could be applied with equal performance in various educational stages. In its realization, error was seen as a creative opportunity (Rodari, 2008). The results confirm the value of this methodology, while highlighting the help it can offer to teachers for the treatment of academic content that, with more traditional approaches, presents more assimilation difficulties among students, due to its limited ability to motivate him and arouse his interest, but necessary to develop linguistic and communicative competence.

This article reports the findings of a study conducted on a group of Irish university students to identify the effect which training in noun gender would have on their assignment of gender to nouns in German. This study focuses on a specially designed set of rules, which was introduced to the students to promote their acquisition of gender and to increase their accuracy with it. Students were also trained in the use of mnemonics which deal specifically with German noun gender. The findings are very positive and show a marked improvement in students’ accuracy in assigning gender to a list of German nouns. The findings also show that when students have learned gender rules they can transfer this knowledge to assigning gender more accurately in written production.

Along with more and more emphasis on the importance and benefits of entrepreneurship to the society and an increasing number of various programs offered in the university to edify students about entrepreneurship and cultivate the entrepreneurial spirit in the campus, fewer previous researchers are studying about the optimization of the currently allocated resources. This study aims at exploring the importance and other utility of university incubated entrepreneurs as the motivation factor to entrepreneurship intention among university students. With the convenience sampling method of the questionnaire, the study has collected 165 valid response mainly from a university’s students in Hong Kong in this pilot test. The analysis results indicated that there is a relatively strong relationship between the existence of incubated entrepreneurs at the campus and entrepreneurship intention among university students yet the perception of attainment to entrepreneurship cannot moderate such relationship and the desirability of entrepreneurship can partly mediate this relationship. The research result points out the feasibility of promoting the university incubated entrepreneurs as a role model to university students, and the importance of pragmatic resources for designing the entrepreneurial education and programs in the future.

This study aims to determine what factors are considered by Lampung University students by choosing boarding houses. The data used are primary data obtained from the questionnaires' results, which are data on students' perceptions by choosing boarding homes. The sampling technique used was the Non-Probability Sampling method with the type of Convenience Sampling. This research uses a descriptive quantitative method. This study concludes that factors are considered students to a selection of boarding houses in Kampung Baru and GedungMeneng Bandar Lampung: variable with average, reference, rental price, location excellence, and facilities completeness.

This paper examined university students’ technology usage experience during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic in Malaysia. As this crisis continues into its third year, universities and schools across the world have had to close their campuses and adopt new norms of teaching-and-learning. What are some of the problems which students had encountered during their online teaching-and-learning (OTL) sessions or classes? In this study, the authors had surveyed eighty-five students from a local university, located in the mid-northern region of Malaysia. The study had used convenience sampling and an online survey form which was distributed via WhatsApp and emails. It was a quantitative study. The main findings include that a majority (88.2%) of the students reported using a combination of laptops and other devices, such as smartphones and home desktops. Moreover, one in four of them had shared their devices with their parents or siblings. In addition, slightly over half (51.8%) of the students surveyed reported difficulties with Internet access during their classes. The issues they cited mainly revolved around ‘poor internet connection’ and ‘unstable connection’. As a result, students were sometimes unable to respond to their lecturers’ questions in class or enter classes late due to Internet lagging issues. This showed that while the technology penetration rate is reasonably high among the students, their access to stable Internet bandwidth and connection remains a challenge and a problem. The authors concluded that the Malaysian government should continue to improve the country’s Internet speed and digital infrastructure while taking steps to narrow the pre-existing digital gap between the country’s haves and have-nots.

The main aim of this study is to reveal whether consumers’ product involvement, satisfaction and loyalty levels differentiate in terms of smart phones and perfume. In order to achieve this goal, a research was implemented by using survey method on 665 Balıkesir University Burhaniye School of Applied Science students who are determined with convenience sampling method. The reason of using this sample is the anticipation of that university students’ consciousness and involvement levels about smart phones and perfumes might be higher than other populations. The research results demonstrate that there are differences according to gender in symbolic value, risk probability, and hedonic value dimensions of involvement terms of smart phones. In terms of perfume products involvement, the results also indicate that there are differences according to gender in interest and hedonic value dimensions of involvement. In addition, it is identified that satisfaction and loyalty towards perfume brands is higher for women than men. However, it is found that satisfaction and loyalty levels towards smart phones do not show any difference according to gender.
