In a situation of illiteracy at a rate of 54%, with over 80% of the population not speaking French (ANSD, 2013), it is very difficult to carry out effective development policies in Senegal without taking into account the language issue. From this point of view, the FCFA currency, which is expressed in French, poses a lot of problems for the African populations of the franc zone. The debate around this currency has so far been more focused on financial or fiduciary aspects than on the fundamental mechanisms that help to better understand the environment in which economic agents operate. Beyond its linguistic symbolism steeped in history, the FCFA creates cognitive problems that make it difficult for African populations to use it. We will try in this article to show, by an analytical approach, that the denomination of a currency involves the interaction of several fields of investigation. These are economic, historical, sociological, political, and above all, linguistic. From this angle, there is reason to be interested in the Academy of African Languages (ACALAN) in the resolution of this unit of measurement.

Informal financial services (IFSs) provide various types of investment avenues for both rural and urban populations in Zambia. This paper is a critical review of the sustainability of various informal investment typologies Zambians has been using and adopting to increase their financial resources and solve their livelihoods and social issues in the process. An evaluation of why people and organizations opt for specific financial services that come in the form of savings and lending groups will be discussed in detail to understand if they have been meeting people's expectations. The paper derives its data from various studies in the past 10 years that emanates from Zambia and Sub-Saharan Africa. While the sustainability of various typologies of informal financial services is broad, they are measured through risks associated, savings policies adopted, group loan guarantees and flexibility, interest and transactional expenses enforcement, income-generating, wealth creation and any social capital investment. The research reveals that limited studies have looked at various typologies of savings and lending groups, including evaluating their sustainability. This study helps in decision making for anyone or organization who would want to join or start a savings group in Zambia and key parameters to follow.

The presence of information technology in web-based digital mapping, especially using the Google API, has helped various parties make decisions regarding mapping to find out the distribution of various objects. Bidikmisi scholarship recipients are a group of university students who receive fundings Indonesian government every year. They come from various regions and economic backgrounds. However, the distribution of origin of students receiving the Bidikmisi scholarships has never been investigated accurately. As a result, information related to the geographical distribution of Bidikmisi scholarship recipients, both from an economic point of view and the quality of their education, has not yet been mapped. This study, therefore, developed a geographic information system (GIS) application based on google API to map the distribution of students receiving Bidikmisi scholarship based on region and economic geography. Data were gathered through surveys and interviews with experts and stakeholders from the State Islamic University of Datokarama Palu, Indonesia, to obtain information regarding the GIS design and also the criteria for Bidikmisi scholarship recipients. The results of the study show that 305 students received the scholarship from twelve regencies in Central Sulawesi, Indonesia. The origins of the students were successfully mapped throughout the province. Our study helped universities, especially in the field of student affairs and the Quality Assurance Department, to monitor the distribution of Bidikmisi scholarship recipients. Our study can be used as a reference in making quick and accurate decisions in future scholarship distribution.

The objective of this study is to implement accent reduction software in English pronunciation teaching. This study employed an experimental approach. There were forty students recruited from the English and Arabic departments. The students were split into two classes, with one class being treated as an experimental class and another class as a controlled class. Each class consisted of twenty students, ten English department students, and the other ten Arabic department students. We administered an experimental class with twelve meeting treatments using the Elsa accent reduction software to teach English pronunciation. Meanwhile, the controlled class was not given any treatments.  The results show that there was a significant difference between the result of the pre-test and post-test of the students' pronunciations that were taught with the accent reduction software. It was found that the mean score of the experimental class was significantly improved from 53.12 to 85.44 after they were given the treatment. Meanwhile, the control group's mean score was also improved, but it was not significant from 49.33 to 59.11. Our study highlighted that the use of accent reduction software in teaching English pronunciations could help students to improve their English pronunciations. The students were able to imitate an English sound from the software. The limitation of this study is that we did not compare the results of English and Arabic students’ ability in pronunciations after the use of the software. Future studies are recommended to compare pronunciations between English and Arabic students through the use of the software to understand language background might affect the treatment.

Krause's philosophy had a deep and long influence in Spain, where krausism went beyond academia to turn their ideas into reality by means of different associations and institutions. The reception of krausean thought took place in a really hostile context, especially due to the rejection by intransigent Catholicism that vilified Spanish krausism in terms of Religion, morals, politics and education. Despite that fact, krausism proved to be very influential in social theory, politics and education from the second half of the 19th century to the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War in 1936. This work is a summary presentation, a revisitation and an updated account of the history of krausism in Spain (with some references to Latin America) focusing on íts practical dimension.

Value is a worth given to something either for its consequential utility for the valuers or a worth given for its own sake. While the former way of evaluation is called extrinsic value, the latter is called intrinsic value. Any kind of approach we adapt to anything emerges from a kind of value we allocate to the thing in question, i.e., kind of value people attribute to the natural environment in general and to non-human, in particular, determine people's treatment, evaluation, action and attitude toward the being in focus. Supposing that the ever-increasing environmental crisis is anthropogenic, this paper is trying to examine the kind of value allocated to the environment and non-human beings in East Gojjam. A qualitative approach and case study design were employed to achieve the objective. Both Primary and secondary dated dates were collected. To collect data, focus group discussion, semi-structured interview, key informant interview, and document review were employed as data collecting instruments. Hence, the participants: officials and exports from the office of wildlife protection, office of natural resource management as well as the office of forest enterprise, local people and religious leaders were purposively selected, and the sample size was determined by data saturation. Finally, the collected data was analyzed thematically. The research found out that the kind of value ascribed to environments is extrinsic. Treating animals and plants as the mere means for the manifold end of human being paves the way for human beings to have untrammeled intervention in the environment.

This article represents an attempt to approach the notion of colonial discourse and photography more closely with the exigencies that put Morocco under the zoom of the colonial lens. This photographic documentation shows that nations, Morocco, in this case, were annexed to imperial powers through the utilization of various means of representation. This annexation was carried out not only by military officers, missionaries and spies but also by cartographers, travel writers and photographers who never ceased to polish the lens of their cameras so as to be able to represent indigenous identities, as well as their social lifestyles, and cultures. Therefore, the purpose of the present work is to sketch the colonial experience that links the imperializers with the imperialized through chronological documentation of colonial power and domination. Therefore, the main interest centres around the question of rereading this colonial history by analyzing and questioning colonial photography and its role in colonial expansion over Morocco. Besides, it is to unmask the alleged objective embedded in this country's 'civilizing mission'.

The current qualitative study aims at exploring and analyzing in a descriptive way the impact of e-learning on different interactions forms in French virtual class in order to strengthen the students’ engagement in this type of class. The problem that we encounter when it comes to French virtual class is the lack of spontaneous and active interactions which could negatively affect the learning process. The study was based on data collected from structured observations conducted throughout the 2nd semester 2020/2021. The results show that the general interaction rate is unsatisfactory; especially the peers’ interaction rate which is the worst. To enhance the virtual class interactions, some tips and practices have been recommended. A further study may help to identify the factors that affect the interactions in virtual class.

University students have intensively used social media in their daily life. The students use social media for social, education, and interaction purposes. Some studies found that students also use social media for psychological relief benefits such as building happiness through making friends and finding entertainment. However, limited studies have been conducted to find out variables that affect psychological needs in social media use. This study, therefore, aims to find out variables that affect university students' psychological needs in social media use. This study used a quantitative method with a survey approach. Samples were eighty students who were purposively recruited from four faculties. This study shows that information search, social interaction, entertainment, narcissism, and attention seekers behavior have significantly influenced the students' motivation to fulfill psychological needs in social media use. Personal identity-building did not affect the students’ use of social media in fulfilling their psychological needs. The students might be focused on social identity rather than personal identity building. We concluded that social media had become a new source for university students to find psychological relief and well-being.

Implemented in 2007, the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) otherwise known as the Conditional Cash Transfer Program (CCT) is a flagship economic and social reform of the Philippine government in order to reduce poverty particularly in the areas of education, healthcare, and the economy as a whole. The emergence of the pandemic interested the researchers in examining the implementation of such a program among its beneficiaries using trend analysis (2015-2021). From 17 regions in the Philippines, the researchers used cluster sampling and took the National Capital Regional (NCR) as an area of interest. The aggregated data from the National Capital Region (NCR) was chosen and used in this study.  Results of the study show an erratic trend on the number of 4Ps beneficiaries in the National Capital Region and when disaggregated by years, sex, provinces, and age group.  The NCR 2nd and 3rd Districts have the highest number of 4Ps beneficiaries representing NCR, with 30%-31%, while the lowest provinces which are 1st and 4th districts range from 19%-20%. In terms of sex, 93% are female beneficiaries while 7% are male ones from 2015-2018 only because starting 2019 to 2021, the proportion of both sexes became stable and stays with 90% for female grantees and 10% for male grantees. The age group with the least grantee is 18 years old and below, which equates to around 1-2% per year.  Further, a "high level" of health compliance among the child monitored 4Ps beneficiaries was observed in 2015 (90%), 2018 (91%), 2019 (93%), and 2020 (97%). It was then concluded that the COVID-19 pandemic had not affected the number of child and adult 4Ps beneficiaries. Interestingly, under 5 mortality rates have significantly reduced from 2015 to the 1st quarter of 2021.
