The energy reform promotes the use of renewable energies to face the reduction of fossil energy consumption. Michoacán is a state where agriculture proliferates, counting on a diversity of climates that favors the cultivation of a significant variety of fruits, in addition that its harvest area is abundant. On many occasions the waste generated from the harvest represents a problem for the farmers, because the volume is too much and they do not know what to do, unfortunately they opt by the illegal burning. However, biomass can be used as fuel with high thermal outputs, with a lower cost than other fuels, which represents an alternative for many industries that require combustion in their processes. Michoacán stands out continuously at the first places in the production of diverse fruts at national level, but its residues are used only for cattle consumption, so this research work not only takes into account the net harvest, it also makes an estimate of effective waste that can be considered biomass available for use in thermal processes, indicating according to its calorific value the energy potential wasted until the moment.

Sawdust is often used as fuel for basic domestic needs like cooking, heating etc, with the application of the right technological procedure, the chemical energy in sawdust can be converted to electrical energy. sawdust is a usually a waste from timber processing industries and can pollute the environment if not properly disposed or utilized. Electricity can be generated from sawdust directly and sawdust can be processed into other products such as sawdust briquettes, pyrolysis oil, bioethanol and producer gas which can all be used to produce electricity using either a coal based thermal plant, oil based thermal plant and gas depending on the most suitable and efficient. As the calorific value of sawdust is dependent on the moisture content of the wood and the type of wood used, hence average calorific value of sawdust was used for this research work. In this study, the heat contents of sawdust and its various products were considered as fuels for divers power plants that is most suitable accordingly. This paper uses mathematical analysis to determine the amount of electrical energy produced from sawdust and it’s products. Sawdust briquettes was found to be the most efficient in terms of output power when a coal based thermal plant is utilized, the next being the utilization of a plain sawdust as fuel for a coal based thermal plant, the most optimal for the generation of electrical energy among the derivative of sawdust was pyrolysis oil being used as fuel in an oil based thermal plant.

BACKGROUND: Cloud computing is considered as an on-demand service resource with the applications towards data center on pay per user basis. For allocating the resources appropriately for the satisfaction of user needs, an effective and reliable resource allocation method is required. Because of the enhanced user demand, the allocation of resources has now considered as a complex and challenging task when a physical machine is overloaded, Virtual Machines share its load by utilizing the physical machine resources. Previous studies lack in energy consumption and time management while keeping the Virtual Machine at the different server in turned on state. AIM AND OBJECTIVE: The main aim of this research work is to propose an effective resource allocation scheme for allocating the Virtual Machine from an ad hoc sub server with Virtual Machines. EXECUTION MODEL: The execution of the research has been carried out into two sections, initially, the location of Virtual Machines and Physical Machine with the server has been taken place and subsequently, the cross-validation of allocation is addressed. For the sorting of Virtual Machines, Modified Best Fit Decreasing algorithm is used and Multi-Machine Job Scheduling is used while the placement process of jobs to an appropriate host. Artificial Neural Network as a classifier, has allocated jobs to the hosts. Measures, viz. Service Level Agreement violation and energy consumption are considered and fruitful results have been obtained with a 37.7 of reduction in energy consumption and 15% improvement in Service Level Agreement violation.

The use of nudges—“low-cost, choice-preserving, behaviorally informed approaches to regulatory problems”—has become quite popular at the national level in the past decade or so. Examples include changing the default concerning employees’ saving for retirement in a bid to encourage such saving; altering the default about consent to posthumous organ donation to increase the supply of organs for transplantation; and informing people about other people's energy consumption to spur them to reduce theirs. Nudges are therefore used to promote the welfare of the people being nudged, and of society at large. However, the use of nudges has sparked a lively normative debate. When turning to the international arena, new arguments for and against nudges can be raised. This essay focuses on the normative aspects of using nudges in the international arena.

AbstractThis research work focused on the evaluation of energy and exergy in the convective drying of potato slices. Experiments were conducted at four air temperatures (40, 50, 60 and 70°C) and three air velocities (0.5, 1.0 and 1.5 m/s) in a convective dryer, with circulating heated air. Freshly harvested potatoes with initial moisture content (MC) of 79.9% wet basis were used in this research. The influence of temperature and air velocity was investigated in terms of energy and exergy (energy utilization [EU], energy utilization ratio [EUR], exergy losses and exergy efficiency). The calculations for energy and exergy were based on the first and second laws of thermodynamics. Results indicated that EU, EUR and exergy losses decreased along drying time, while exergy efficiency increased. The specific energy consumption (SEC) varied from 1.94 × 105 to 3.14 × 105 kJ/kg. The exergy loss varied in the range of 0.006 to 0.036 kJ/s and the maximum exergy efficiency obtained was 85.85% at 70°C and 0.5 m/s, while minimum exergy efficiency was 57.07% at 40°C and 1.5 m/s. Moreover, the values of exergetic improvement potential (IP) rate changed between 0.0016 and 0.0046 kJ/s and the highest value occurred for drying at 70°C and 1.5 m/s, whereas the lowest value was for 70°C and 0.5 m/s. As a result, this knowledge will allow the optimization of convective dryers, when operating for the drying of this food product or others, as well as choosing the most appropriate operating conditions that cause the reduction of energy consumption, irreversibilities and losses in the industrial convective drying processes.

The use of micro-hydropower (MHP) for energy recovery in water distribution networks is becoming increasingly widespread. The incorporation of this technology, which offers low-cost solutions, allows for the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions linked to energy consumption. In this work, the MHP energy recovery potential in Spain from all available wastewater discharges, both municipal and private industrial, was assessed, based on discharge licenses. From a total of 16,778 licenses, less than 1% of the sites presented an MHP potential higher than 2 kW, with a total power potential between 3.31 and 3.54 MW. This total was distributed between industry, fish farms and municipal wastewater treatment plants following the proportion 51–54%, 14–13% and 35–33%, respectively. The total energy production estimated reached 29 GWh∙year−1, from which 80% corresponded to sites with power potential over 15 kW. Energy-related industries, not included in previous investigations, amounted to 45% of the total energy potential for Spain, a finding which could greatly influence MHP potential estimates across the world. The estimated energy production represented a potential CO2 emission savings of around 11 thousand tonnes, with a corresponding reduction between M€ 2.11 and M€ 4.24 in the total energy consumption in the country.

The article put attention on the need for a methodological collaboration analysis of the academic and modern types of teaching sculpture in the specialized creative colleges and universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the modern educational and aesthetic discourse. The main research problem focuses on identifying and characterizing the most relevant educational theoretical and practical methods that can significantly increase the level of domestic art education in the art of sculpture. The author believes that a comprehensive scientific analysis of the educational potential of the Kazakhstani aesthetic originality of modern sculpture, its history and technical and technological features will give a possibility to understand deeply and see the big picture of the art education role in the general socio-cultural canvas of sovereign Kazakhstan. At the moment, the Kazakhstani art education system is on a peripeteia and it is necessary to clear the choice between academic and contemporary art practices or their harmonious synthesis. This work is devoted to these question’s analysis and the author's research work disclosure.

In this paper, a new high multi-stage pressure reducing valve (HMSPRV) is proposed. The main advantages include reducing noise and vibration, reducing energy consumption and dealing with complex conditions. As a new high pressure reducing valve, its flow characteristics need to be investigated. For that the valve opening has a great effect on steam flow, pressure reduction and energy consumption, thus different valve openings are taken as the research points to investigate the flow characteristics. The analysis is conducted from four aspects: pressure, velocity, temperature fields and energy consumption. The results show that valve opening has a great effect on flow characteristics. No matter for pressure, velocity or temperature field, the changing gradient mainly reflects at those throttling components for all valve openings. For energy consumption, in the study of turbulent dissipation rate, it can be found that the larger of valve opening, the larger of energy consumption. It can be concluded that the new high multi-stage pressure reducing valve works well under complex conditions. This study can provide technological support for achieving pressure regulation, and benefit the further research work on energy saving and multi-stage design of pressure reducing devices.

Almost from the moment they arrived there in 1542, Jesuits in India and Sri Lanka have made substantial contributions to the scientific disciplines. In the initial stages they were not directly involved in environmental works, but in recent years many are taking the initiative to work for environmental justice. Some Jesuits are involved in raising awareness on environmental issues, such as promoting reforestation and watershed programs, whereas others work to provide safe drinking water or to prevent tree-felling, while others study local biodiversity and are creating and maintaining botanical gardens. Other environmental projects include the promotion of solar energy, biopesticides and biofertilizers for organic farming, the micropropagation of rare, endangered, and threatened (rets) plant species (so that they may be replanted in greater numbers), the formation of local centers and eco clubs where students and others can collaborate for a healthier environment. Several Jesuits are also active politically assuming advocacy roles, and writing books and research articles in the interest of environmental conservation. A select few Jesuits are even recognized on a national level for their contributions to environmental causes.
