Abstract. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of adding lamtoro leaves (leucaenanleucocephale) on pH values and the level of damage at different levels. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatment levels and 3 replications, namely J0= lamtoro leaf 0%, J1= addition of lamtoro leaves 40%, J2=addition of lamtoro leaves 30%, J3=addition of lamtoroleaves 20%. The results showed that the addition of lamtoro leaves to feed silage has a very real effect. on average the highest to lowest pH value is J0 is (5.16), J1 is (3.83), J2 is (4.67), and J3 is (4.73). Average damage to the highest to lewest is J0 is (6.67), J1 is (1.76), J2 is (4.38), and J3 is (4.78). From the results of the study, it is known that the best treatment and recommended defects are J1 treatment with the addition of lamtoro leaves 40%. Forage is the main source of feed for ruminants. Forage consists of two types, namely grass and legumes. Leguminosa is a type of forage as a source of protein. One type of legume that is well known by breeders in Indonesia is lamtoro (Leucaena leucocephala cv. Tarramba). This study was aimed to produce candidate mutants of lamtoro drought resistant to acid stress conditions. The experiment in this study used an unbalanced completely randomized design with 6 treatments of 740 different replications based on different sources of lamtoro plant mutants at different levels (P0: 0 n= 89, P1: 100 gy n= 82, P2: 200 gy n= 153, P3:300 gy n=120, P4: 400 gy n= 244, P5: 500 gy n= 52). Variables observed included plant height, number of stalks, leaf loss and stem diameter. The results showed that lamtoro plants irradiated with gamma rays at a level of 200 gy-500 gy were significantly higher than 100 gy irradiation at 10 and 12 days watering, but the diameter of the plants was larger at 100 gy irradiation. It can be watering intervals of 10 days and 12 days on the parameters of height and stem diameter showed that gamma rays irradiation of 400 gy resulted in dry-resistant lamtoro mutant candidates under acid stress condition.          This study aims to determine the effect of using different levels of thinner olive oil (extra virgin olive oil) on the viability and abnormality of spermatozoa and the pH of the semen of duroc pigs. The research took place in September 2020 in Noenebu, Tapenpah Village, Insana District, North Central Timor Regency, and the Laboratory of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Timor. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 5 replications.  Treatment R1 consist of 10% tris solution, 10% olive oil, 80% semen; R2 treatment consist of 15% tris solution, 15% olive oil, 70% semen; R3 treatment consist of 20% tris solution, 20% olive oil, 60% semen, and R4 treatment consist of 25% tris solution, 25% olive oil, 50% semen. The results showed that the effect of different treatments was very significant (P <0.01) on the viability of spermatozoa. The mean spermatozoa viability of each treatment was R1 of 89 ± 2.57%, R2 of 76.9 ± 12.51%, R3 of 62.8 ± 3.11%, and R4 treatment of 41.2 ± 15, 38%. The spermatozoa abnormalities were significantly different (P <0.05). Where the abnormality of the spermatozoa in treatment R1 was 8.8 ± 1.30%, R2 was 10.4 ± 1.67%, R3 was 11.6 ± 1.81%, and R4 was 14.4 ± 3.78%. The degree of acidity (pH) of the semen was not significantly different between treatments. The pH value of each treatment was R1 of 7.92 ± 0.83, R2 of 8.04 ± 0.54, R3 of 7.96 ± 0.39; and R4 treatment of 8.06 ± 0.64. It can be concluded that the addition of 10% to 20% olive oil can maintain the viability and abnormality of duroc boar male spermatozoa. However, the use of olive oil up to 20% does not affect to degree of acidity of the semen produced.

This study aimed to determine the effect of 15 days refrigeration storage on lactose content, reducing sugars, and the pH value of yoghurt by addition of rice bran. The experimental design used a completely randomized design (CRD) for 4 treatments and 5 replications. The treatments consisted of T0 (without storage), T1 (5 storage days), T2 (10 storage days), and T3 (15 storage days). The results showed that lactose content, reducing sugar, and pH value of yoghurt were analyzed by analysis of variance (ANOVA). If there were significant differences, then further tested by Duncan's Multiple Range Test. Yoghurt by addition of rice bran stored for 15 days in the refrigerator could reduce lactose content and pH values and increased the level of reducing sugar, so that be able to maintain the quality and freshness of yoghurt.

ABSTRACT Cultivation using brackish waters can result in nutritional and metabolic imbalances in several plant species, consequently reducing the production of dry matter (DM) and accumulation of toxic ions (Na+ and/or Cl-) in plants. We evaluated the DM production, and nutrient and inorganic solute (Na+ and Cl-) content in green onion plants (cv. Todo Ano Evergreen - Nebuka) under different levels of nutrient solution salinity in combination with circulation frequencies of this solution. Two experiments were conducted in a hydroponic system, using a completely randomized design, in a 6 × 2 factorial scheme, with five replicates: six levels of nutrient solution salinity (1.5, 3.0, 4.5, 6.0, 7.5, and 9.0 dS m-1) and two solution circulation frequencies (twice and thrice a day). In Experiment I, the evapotranspired depth was replaced using brackish water that was used to prepare each of the salinity levels (used exclusively), whereas in Experiment II, brackish water was used only to prepare each of the salinity levels and public water was used (electrical conductivity [ECw] = 0.12 dS m-1) for replacement in all treatments. The increase in the nutrient solution salinity reduced the production of DM and accumulation of nutrients; the reductions were more pronounced when brackish waters were used exclusively (Experiment I). However, the circulation of solutions thrice a day resulted in the harmful effects of the salinity effect. Replacing the evapotranspirated blade with water supply (Experiment II) mitigated the deleterious effects of salinity. Moreover, three circulations of the nutrient solution daily resulted in lower accumulation of inorganic Na+ and Cl- solutes and increased accumulation of nutrients N, P, K+, Ca2+, Mg2+, and S in the culture.

This research was aimed to determine the quality properties, the microstructure of chicken sausage and Thiobarbituric acid (TBA) values with locally Indonesia red beetroot powder. The main ingredients of chicken sausage-making in this research were broiler chicken, filler, binder, beetroot powder, and spices. Red beetroot powder function as a filler was substituted tapioca starch in chicken sausage batter in three different levels. The combination of red beetroot powder with level 0, 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0% of total batter and shelf life at room temperature for 0, 1, 2 and 3 days. Each treatment consisted of five replications. The variables observed using quality properties (moisture, ash, fat, protein, crude fiber and calorie), microstructure and peroxide value of chicken sausage. The data of quality properties and peroxide value were analyzed by using one-way analysis (ANOVA) of Completely Randomized Design. The differences between means were analyzed by Duncan's New Multiple Ranges Test. The data of microstructure was analyzed by descriptive analyses. The moisture, protein, fat and ash contents for chicken sausages were significantly different (p<0.05). The chicken sausage with 2% substitution of beet powder produced chicken sausages with a high protein content of 14.77±0.02% while a low-fat content is 0.42±0.01%. Thiobarbituric acid (TBA) values of chicken sausages increased throughout the three days of room temperature storage (38°C). Chicken sausage formulated with red beetroot powder showed a significantly lower TBA value compared to the samples without red beetroot powder (p<0.05). In conclusion, a higher level of beetroot powder will improve the quality of chicken sausage and also the microstructure. The best level of beetroot powder addition was 2.0%. The addition of beetroot powder able to maintain fresh sausage conditions up to 2 days of storage at room temperature.

This research aimed to determine physicochemical, microbiological and sensory properties of fermented whey using kombucha inoculum. The material used were kombucha, black tea, green tea, and whey protein concentrate. The research used factorial completely randomized design. The first factor was kombucha inoculum using different mediums (black and green tea) at different levels (5; 10; 15; dan 20%) as a second factor. The whey was fermented at 37oC for 39 hours. Research showed the use of kombucha inoculum using different medium (black and green tea) at different levels (5; 10; 15; dan 20%) did not affect (p>0.05) on microbiological properties (the number of Total Plate Count, total lactic acid bacteria, total acetic acid bacteria, and total yeast), dissolved protein content, lactose content, viscosity and acceptability. Black and green tea kombucha inoculum can be used in whey fermentation. Black tea kombucha fermented whey with 20% level addition has the best solid content. Relatively, kombucha fermented whey is quite acceptable.

Abstrak.  Suatu penelitian telah dilakukan untuk mengetahui efek agitasi susu probiotik yang ditambahkan buah naga merah (Hylocereus Polyrhizus). Penelitian ini dilakukan di Laboratorium Ilmu dan Teknologi Pengolahan Susu Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Syiah Kuala pada tanggal 29 April - 31 Mei 2016. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) pola faktorial 2x4 dengan 3 kali ulangan yang terdiri dari 2 faktor, A, agitasi yaitu (A1) dan (A2) non agitasi. Dan faktor B yaitu konsentrasi buah naga merah (B1) 20%,  (B2) 25%,  B3 (30%) dan (B4) 35%. Parameter yang diamati adalah derajat keasaman (pH), total mikroba dan uji organoleptik. Hasil penelitian menunujukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh yang sangat nyata (P0,01) terhadap derajat keasaman (pH) dan berpengaruh nyata terhadap total mikroba (P0,05) serta terdapat interaksi antara kedua perlakuan. Sedangkan untuk uji organoleptik terdapat pengaruh yang sangat nyata (P0,01) terhadap kekentalan dan warna susu probiotik.  nilai derajat keasaman pH 4,03 - 4,11 dengan agitasi (pengadukan) masih sesuai dengan standar (SNI) 01-2981-1992. Sedangkan nilai total mikroba optimal terjadi pada penambahan buah naga sebanyak 30% baik agitasi maupun non agitasi. Effects of Milk Probiotic Agitation Added Red Dragon Fruit (Hylocereus Polyrhizus) on Sensory Test and Total Plate Coun Abstract.  A study about effects of milk probiotic agitation added red dragon fruit (Hylocereus Polyrhizus)  has been conducted to determine to test sensory and total plate count. This research was held at the Laboratory of Science and Milk Processing Technology, Agriculture Fakulty Syiah Kuala University on April 29 to May 31, 2016. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) 2x4 factorial design with three replications consisting of two factors, A, agitation (A1) and (A2) non agitation. And factor B is the concentration of red dragon fruit (B1) 20%, (B2) 25%, B3 (30%) and (B4) 35%. The observed parameter is the degree of acidity (pH), total microbial and organoleptic tests. The results of the study indicate that the there is a  highly significant influence (P 0,01) to the degree of acidity (pH) and total significantly affected the total microbial (P 0.05), and there is interaction between the two treatments. As for organoleptic tests are highly significant effect (P 0.01) the thickness and color of probiotic milk. acidity pH value of 4.03 to 4.11 with agitation (stirring) is still in accordance with the standard (SNI) 01-2981-1992. While the total value of optimal microbial occurred upon addition of dragon fruit by 30% both agitation and non agitation

Duck meat is a perishable food that has a short shelf-life. Therefore, packaging is needed to be used tomaintain duck meat quality during storage, one of the ways to extend shelf-life of duck meat is usingpropolis extract as edible coating which is contained antioxidant substances which can be used to extendduring storage. The aim of this research was to analyze the effect of propolis extract as an edible coatingmaterial on duck meat to maintain the quality and extend shelf-life of duck meat at room temperature.The research was used a completely randomized design (CRD) factorial 4x3 with 3 replications,consisting of 4 propolis concentrations (0.0%, 0.5%, 1.0%, 1.5%) and 3 storage times (0 hours, 6 hoursand 24 hours). Duck meats coated with propolis extracts had a significant effect on the water content andantioxidant activity of duck meat (P < 0.05). The storage time had a significant effect on the pH valueand the cooking loss of duck meat (P <0.05). The addition of propolis extract and storage time had asignificant effect on the pH value, cooking loss and antioxidant activity of duck meat (P <0.05).

Experiments were performed in a greenhouse to evaluate the effect of natural nodulation in the development of Pacara Earpod Tree (Enterolobium contorsiliquum) and Leucaena (Leucaena leucocephala) is soil with different uses in Tocantins. We used three soil samples of woods, cultivated areas four and in a degraded area, in pots in a completely randomized design with four replications. In both species nodulation was observed in all soils studies areas with better nodulation occurring in soil cultivation, providing a higher accumulation of biomass. Soil from the degraded area the two species showed nodule number and biomass of nodules significant, with potential for use in disturbed areas, with characteristics of degraded soils.

The objective was to evaluate milk production, N2-fixation and N transfer, forage yield and composition (under two cutting intervals) in a silvopastoral system (SPS) with Leucaena leucocephala-Megathyrsus maximus and M. maximus-monoculture (MMM) with crossbred cows in a completely randomized design. Forage yield in the SPS was 6490 and 6907 kg DM ha−1 for cutting intervals (CI) of 35 and 50 days. Forage yield for the MMM was 7284 and 10,843 kg DM ha−1, and forage crude protein (CP) was 29.0% and 26.1% for L. leucocephala, harvested at 35 and 50 days, respectively. CP for the associated M. maximus was 9.9% and 7.8% for CI 35 and 50 days, respectively, and for MMM was 7.4% and 8.4%, harvested at 35 and 50 days. Milk production was 4.7 kg cow−1 day−1 for cows grazing MMM and 7.4 kg cow−1 day−1 under SPS. Nitrogen fixation in L. leucocephala (%Ndfa) was estimated to be 89% and 95%, at 35 and 50 days, with an N2 transfer to the associated grass of 34.3% and 52.9%. SPS has the potential to fix and transfer important amounts of N2 to the associated grass, and increase forage CP content and milk production.
