This article seeks to investigate Russian infinitive as an adjective with the meaning of motivation and the means to convey it in Persian language. Russian infinitive has noun or verbal forms, which can express semantic meanings by lexical and intonational units even into the function of adjective, while Persian infinitive in a sentence is expressed by a noun. Hence in some cases no problem can be seen in expressing Russian infinitive adjective with the meaning of motivation in Persian language, but in other cases, according to the context, Russian infinitive adjective in Persian should be conveyed as a verb form. During our research on the basis of comparative analysis, we studied infinitive as an adjective with the meaning of motivation by the variety of examples, which were derived from the epic novel "The Road to Calvary" by A.N. Tolstoy. Moreover we tested the Persian translation of these samples to demonstrate the language tools, which are used for expressing the aforementioned meaning by Russian infinitive adjective in Persian language.

Notwithstanding its value as the earliest extant New Persian treatment of the art of rhetoric, Rādūyānī's Interpreter of Rhetoric (Tarjumān al-Balāgha) has yet to be read from the vantage point of comparative poetics. Composed in the Ferghana region of modern Central Asia between the end of the eleventh century and the beginning of the twelfth century, Rādūyānī's vernacularization of classical Arabic norms inaugurated literary theory in the New Persian language. I argue here that Rādūyānī's vernacularization is most consequential with respect to its transformation of the classical Arabic tropes of metaphor (istiʿāra) and comparison (tashbīh) to suit the new exigencies of a New Persian literary culture. In reversing the relation between metaphor and comparison enshrined in Arabic aesthetics, Rādūyānī concretized the Persian contribution to the global study of literary form.

The present study was a comparative analysis of ethics and human responsibility in Cormac McCarthy’s The Road and Doris Lessing’s The Grass is Singing. Emmanuel Levinas’s theory of ethics was used here for a better understanding of the sense of responsibility of characters and to see how they conform to ethical relationships with others. Based on Levinasian notions of face, moral responsibility and alterity, it is argued that responsibility is the basic tenet of McCarthy’s and Lessing’s novels which arises from face-to-face encounter with an Other. However, the study proved that the father and the son as major characters in McCarthy’s novel stayed ethically good and preserved goodness in the apocalyptic world because they felt responsible towards each other as well as other strangers. On the contrary, Mary as the protagonist of Lessing The Grass is Singing was not an ethical character since she showed no concerns with responsibility and making moral relationships with other people.

The article is devoted to the features of translation of German poetry into the Chuvash language. Using the example of F. Schiller’s ballad “Der Handschuh” (“Glove”) and its translation into Chuvash, performed by the Chuvash poet S. Shavly, a comparative analysis of the translation and the original is carried out, and the quality of the translation of the work is determined. The purpose of the study is a comprehensive analysis of the translation of F. Schiller’s poem “Der Handschuh” into the Chuvash language, consideration of the linguistic features of the poetry translation. When translating a work, different types of lexical and grammatical transformations are used: omission of lexical units, transliteration, lexical addition, replacement of parts of speech, generalization, etc., which helped to reveal the content of the work and preserve the structure of the poetic work in the target language. S. Shavly made the German work accessible to the Chuvash audience, using the words and expressions most often found in colloquial speech of his native language.

The primary purpose of this study was to examine the frequency of deforming tendencies on Persian translation of Hardy’s Tess of the d’Urbervilles based on Berman’s model. Moreover, the study set out to find out how words have been changed from the source language to fit the target language by adopting deforming tendencies. To achieve the aims of study, the researchers relied on content or document analysis as a qualitative type of study to analyze the strategies which were used in the translation of Tess of the d’Urbervilles novel from English to Persian. The data came from a sample of 300 sentences which were randomly selected from the novel translated into the Persian language by Mina Sarabi. The trustworthiness of the research findings was met through inter-rater agreement and it was reported 0.94. The results indicated that Persian translation of the work suffered from lexical mismatches, destruction of rhythm and destruction of vernacular networks, although destruction of rhythms and destruction of vernacular networks were among the most frequently used deformation tendencies. The findings also revealed that the translation has in one way or another maintained the genre and social stance of the author. Overall, it appears that Berman offers a model which is too severe on keeping the form and syntax of the source text in the Persian translation of Hardy’s Tess of the d’Urbervilles.
