The article presents the results of the study of the semantic-synonymous field of the concept of "adaptation". The frequency of occurrence of this term and its derivatives is compared in Russian and English scientific periodicals presented in open databases such as eLIBRARY.RU and Semantic Scholar. It has been found that both samples are characterized by the predominance of journal articles containing the broadest term “adaptation" / "adjustment". The results of the cognitive linguistic analysis of the content of Russian language concepts are presented: "adaptation" is the broadest term that describes both the process and the result of individual adaptation to environment while its three derivatives are narrower in meaning. The general definition of the concept "adaptation" for psychological texts in Russian is formulated, definitions of the concepts "adaptivity", "adaptability", "adaptedness" are analyzed. It is planned to conduct cognitive linguistic analysis of the considered categories based on English-language publications.

The issue of topical problems and promising areas of research of translanguaging as a communicative practice of multilinguals in English-language and Russian-language scientific publications of recent years is considered in the article. The results of a comparative analysis of scientific works on translanguaging, highlighting key supporting ideas and concepts, are presented. The novelty of the research is seen in the fact that modern publications on translanguaging as a communicative practice that have not yet been analyzed or sufficiently covered in similar review works are summarized. The relevance of the study is due to the fact that translanguaging is a new idea on a historical scale, which has gained significant popularity over the past years, which, in turn, causes the need to systematize and streamline the array of scientific works that have accumulated during this time. A review of the approaches proposed by various authors to the content of the concept of “translanguaging” in those cases when the latter is considered as a communicative practice is performed, as well as of the methodological principles and foundations on which various studies of translanguaging as a communicative practice are built. Based on the analysis of publications, possible problems and promising areas of research in translanguaging are highlighted.

English borrowings continue to penetrate actively into the Russian language. However, they are not always borrowed in all the meanings they have in the original language. Thus, the question of their usage in Russian is of great importance. The article presents a linguistic analysis of some words which are frequently used in a socio-political sphere: националист / nationalist, оккупант / occupant, сепаратист / separatist and террорист / terrorist. In each of these pairs, the Russian word was borrowed from the English language using calque. As a result, the conclusion had been drawn that such words may have different connotations in the language which is the source of borrowing and the recipient-language.

Modern electrodiagnostics (ED) and ultrasound examination of the neuromuscular system dictates the need to use unified terminology in order to avoid inter-expert variability in describing the results of the study and drawing up a conclusion in accordance with international criteria. The results of a survey of clinical electromyography specialists and the methodology of translation of the latest version of the English-language glossary on electrodiagnostic medicine are presented. The purpose of the publication is to popularize the use of modern nomenclature among the professional community. An anonymous survey was conducted on the use of the most common terms ED. The translation of the latest English-language version of the glossary on ED and ultrasound examination of the neuromuscular system was carried out, followed by editing and discussion by an expert group. 236 people from 68 cities of Russia and neighboring countries took part in the survey. The survey results demonstrated maximum disunity, as well as conservatism in the use of terms. The nomenclature of ED terms was first compiled in 1980 by the American Association of Electromyography and Electrodiagnostics and subsequently regularly revised and supplemented in accordance with new data. The unification of terms is necessary for the standardization of conclusions, multicenter research and scientific publications.

This chapter explores the transformation of public history in relation to internationalization in the humanities, audiences, media, and historian networks. The rising number of public history programs worldwide provides opportunities for international collaboration and discussion. We posit that the multiplication of international public history projects and programs and the global use of the English language and the Internet encourage new historical approaches and practices. One way to address the internationalization of public history is to urge glocal interpretations of the past. Public historians are increasingly responsible for making sense of the links among local, national, and international interpretations of the past. We suggest anchoring the actual evolution of public history in a general definition of the interactive concept of local/global in social sciences. Then, we describe the consequences of the internationalization process for public history practices. Specifically, we examine how the process of internationalization influences public history teaching and training.

The review contains an analysis of the most commonly associated factors with the formation of patient satisfaction with medical care according to international and Russian studies. A comparison of demographic, medical, ethnic, social and institutional factors associated with the formation of patient satisfaction with the medical care provided by the results of international and Russian studies. The sample size contained more than 15,500 scientific publications placed in three search databases, eLibrary, PubMed and Cochrane library. The procedure of content analysis among publications was carried out to assess the frequency of mention of given words. The analysis of frequency of occurrence of publications was carried out by means of search algorithms put in search engines eLibrary. PubMed and Cochrane library, after which the results were processed by parametric statistics methods (StatPlus Pro 5 was used). The data were studied over «all-time» periods and at a three-year search depth. As a result, the most common factors were identified, such as: «personnel», «mental state», «institutional factors», «expecta tions», «attention», «diagnosis», «communications», «joint decisions» and «demographics». When comparing the data obtained in the Russian-language search engine eLibrary and English-language PubMed on the factors associated with the formation of patient satisfaction with medical care, specific differences were revealed. The method of research used in this work allows us to identify not only the factors affecting patient satisfaction, as well as the level of interest of researchers to certain aspects of the problem. It seems reasonable and justified to use, in relation to the peculiarities of the model of domestic health care, the identified factors for the development of patient satisfaction management programs, and in fact, for the implementation of effective quality management of medical care.

This review paper is dedicated to the learning game as an educational phenomenon in foreign language education of adults. Gamification becomes one of the main trends in language education not only of children but of adults as well. Game is a central subject of the author’s recent research works, including a monograph about game in foreign language education on the base of Russian language. In the article a general definition of game in language education is given. A conception regarding practical foreign language education with active use of game activities is generally presented. Using game in teaching process is active if it takes an average of 30% learning time. The author gives an explanation about relevance of this proportion. Useful practical instructions for using different game activities at elementary, intermediate and advanced levels of foreign language teaching to adults are presented. Game in the foreign language learning process is a real challenge to the intellect and emotions of adult students. Game activities stimulate not only speaking or writing skills but cognitive, creative, social and intercultural skills as well. The game is a valuable educational phenomenon which has to be actively used in foreign language education of adult students.

The research article represents the notion and term “information warfare” taking into consideration numerous scientific schools and developed interpretations with their further classification. The authors also give their own definition of the notion. The adjective use relevance (“false”) in the Russian language information context is linguistically justified unlike the English language context reflecting the notions “false” and “fake” as suitable ones for the language and speech usage. The notion “conflict information” is introduced as a communicative unit with a high pragmatic potential in the spheres of information and political communication. The notions “fake” and “deep fake” are compared. The pragmatic communicative potential of fake information is clarified and developed. The notions and terms diversity based on “fake information”, “fake news” is pointed out within the research article. The authors’ classification of information fakes with distinguishing the corresponding categories and their communicative analysis is provided. The notion “alternative fact” is analyzed from the communicative point of view and contrastive approach usage. Different means of fake information identification are distinguished.

As was mentioned by known sociologist Kenneth Ewart Boulding, the human community, divided into various social organizations, is the most complex class of biological systems. This article is dedicated for mathematical modeling of the process of historical interaction between Russians and foreigners, which are reflected in the formation of a living Russian language. The difficulty lies not only in the large number of relationships, but also in the complexity experienced by the researcher who is inside the system under study. The natural desire to abstract in this study from the system itself can be realized using a strictly scientific approach and computational programming. Namely, by using formal objects and the same formal methods of comparing them, as is customary in mathematics, physics, and other sciences that study the laws of nature in areas that are not directly related to human being and society. To form an objective knowledge base about the interaction of social groups of people, you can use the analysis of traces of this interaction, one of which is their language. It is in the language of a people that the main factors of influence of other peoples - native speakers of another language-remain. These traces, in particular, are borrowed words and expressions. To work with such words and expressions, you must first discard those matches that can be attributed to random. Only in this case can the nature of our research be objective. This article uses statistical analysis methods to identify the fact of accidental coincidence of phonetic and semantic images of words from different languages. The basic tool we have chosen is the birthday paradox theorem. As a result, a method for identifying borrowed words that appeared in the language as a result of the interaction of native speakers of different languages, excluding the random nature of their coincidence, is obtained. The application of software definition of matching words in digitized dictionaries is justified. The method is applied to the Russian language. Conclusions are made about the history of the development of the Russian people and its language. These conclusions are that the main significant influence on the Russian population and its language was exerted by Europeans, primarily the French. At the same time, no traces of the influence of Mongolian or other Eastern languages were found. The influence of the Turkic language group and the Greek language occupy a middle position. At the same time, if the semantic load of Turkic and Greek borrowings is of a general scientific or economic nature, then European borrowings are primarily associated with trade, administration, war, and luxuries. The authors concludes that the family character of interaction between native English speakers and language groups close to the English geographically with the Russian population, since the names of the main family members are borrowed mainly from the English language, while the corresponding names was already exist in the old Slavonic language.

The article is devoted to the actual problem of using foreign words in news texts of Internet publications. The author considers the news texts of the leading online media, highlights and examines foreign lexemes. The author shows the ambiguous interpretation of the linguistic term ‘borrowing’ in Russian linguistics and the related difficulties of distinguishing the varieties of borrowed words. The author’s appeal to foreign lexemes based on the definition of dictionaries allows to identify the dynamics of the occurrence of linguistic units. As a result of the analysis, foreign words are classified, there are borrowed words, mostly international vocabulary and linguistic inclusions among them. The study illustrates the next period of intensive foreign language influence in the modern Russian language. The main sources of the vocabulary of the media are direct borrowings from the English language.

The international agenda for the development of monitoring of digital transformation stimulates the development of a statistical methodology for measuring phenomena and processes in the digital economy. The barrier to the formation of a set of interrelated and comparable indicators of the development of the digital economy is the lack of a definition of this concept that would satisfy all interested parties. To date, experts from various fields of science have proposed a wide range of definitions of the digital economy. Based on the various properties and effects of digitalization, experts characterize the digital economy not only as a phenomenon in economic activity but also as a sociocultural phenomenon. Many of the proposed definitions are theoretical in nature and do not fully satisfy the needs of empirical research. The objective of this study is to formulate a definition of the digital economy for statistical research. Therefore, the authors reviewed the works analyzing various definitions of the digital economy, and, accordingly, the sources that proposed definitions of the digital economy.Due to plethora of digital economy definitions, to reveal the essence of this concept the authors used statistical text analysis (Text Mining) tools, which made it possible to identify a set of key terms defining digital economy. For analysis, was built a text corpus, consisting of 105 English-language and Russian-language definitions taken from various sources, including documents of state strategic planning, publications of international organizations, analytical materials of consulting companies and articles of individual authors. Thus, the study analyzed the concept of the digital economy for the period and nature of origin, and also proposed an approach based on which an operational definition of the digital economy was developed that meets the relevant principles. However, to identify the digital economy as an object of statistical research, along with the proposed definition, it is necessary to develop a classification of elements of the infrastructure of the digital economy, all of which will allow the formation of an agreed system of tatistical indicators.
