Aim - to study the state of cellular immunity and cytokine profile at vibration disease due to exposure to local and general vibration, taking into account the severity of the disease. Assessing the role of immunological changes in the pathogenesis of vibration disease. Material and methods. The study involved 84 patients with various forms and severity of vibration disease due to exposure to local and general vibration. The control group included 30 people who did not have contact with occupational hazards at work and who were recognized as healthy according to a complete physical examination. Diagnosis was based on occupational history, sanitary characteristics of working conditions (work in contact with local or general vibration, the vibration levels excessing maximum acceptable level for more than 15 years), full clinical functional screening and instrumental examination of patients. Methods of immunological study included determination of subpopulations of lymphocytes, levels of cytokines IL-ф, IL-4, IL-8, tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-а) in serum by ELISA. Statistical processing of the data was performed using SPSS software package 21. Results. The study revealed a significant decrease in helper (CD4+) and suppressor (CD8+) subpopulations of lymphocytes, increase of concentration of pro-inflammatory cytokines IL-ф, IL-8, TNF-а; reduction in anti-inflammatory cytokine IL-4 in patients with vibration disease compared with the control group, regardless of the type of vibration, but more pronounced at the second degree of vibration disease due to general vibration. Revealed changes are indicative of the activation of inflammatory processes, violation of immunological reactivity, the presence of cytokine imbalance as the effect of exposure to occupational vibration. Conclusion. The study of the immunological profile (cellular link, cytokine profile) at vibration disease opens up prospects for rehabilitation and treatment of patients with this pathology, and also elaborates our knowledge of the pathogenesis of this disease.

Abstract This study describes changes in haematological parameters, cytokine profile, histopathology and cortisol levels in Swiss mice experimentally infected with Angiostrongylus costaricensis. Twenty-eight Swiss mice were divided into two groups (G1 and G2) of 14 animals each. In each group, eight animals were infected orally with ten third-stage larvae of A. costaricensis and six were used as a control group. The mice of groups G1 and G2 were sacrificed 14 and 24 days after infection, respectively. Samples were collected for histopathological and haematological analyses and determination of the cytokine profile and cortisol levels. Granulomatous reaction, eosinophilic infiltrate and vasculitis in the intestinal tract, pancreas, liver and spleen were observed with varying intensity in infected animals. Our results showed that the mice developed normocytic and hypochromic anaemia, and that the histopathological lesions caused by the experimental infection influenced increases in cortisol, neutrophil and monocyte levels. In addition to this, we detected increased interleukin-6 and tumour necrosis factor alpha levels in the infected animals.

Vibration disease is one of the leading in the structure of occupational diseases. A more detailed study of the pathogenesis, expanding the possibilities of diagnosis of vibration disease, is necessary. The aim of the study is to determine the diagnostic value of stabilometry, quantitative sensory testing and neuroenergocarting in vibration disease associated with the combined effects of local and general vibration. Materials and methods. Two groups of patients were examined: with the diagnosis of vibration disease associated with the combined effect of local and general vibration – 50 people (age 48.7 ± 3.1 years), not in contact with vibration – 30 people (age 49.1 ± 2.8 years). The study of the equilibrium function, the determination of the level of the constant potential of the brain by 12 standard leads and the determination of temperature and pain sensitivity. Statistical processing of the results was carried out using the software package “Statistica 6.0” (StatSoft Inc., USA). Differences were considered statistically significant at p < 0.05. Results. In vibration disease, the vertical stance of patients is more unstable than in patients with no contact with vibration. In patients with vibration disease, there is a decrease in the threshold of cold sensitivity and an increase in the threshold of thermal sensitivity and thermal pain compared to the control group. According to our data, the increased level of permanent potential in patients with vibration disease is observed in the central (22.7 (12.6; 30.7) mV) and right central (20.4 (11.5; 27.1) mV), also the average level of permanent capacity in this group is increased – 17.1 (8.4; 25.8) mV.Conclusion. The results obtained indicate the involvement of the neurosensory complex united by single thalamic and cortical centers in the pathological process and confirm the diagnostic value of the methods used.

Introduction. Vibration disease (VD) is one of the leading occupational diseases. One of the manifestations of this disease when exposed to general vibration may be a violation of balance. The aim of the study is to identify the imbalance and the causes of their occurrence in patients with vibration disease.Materials and methods. 3 groups of patients were examined. The first group consisted of 50 patients diagnosed with VD associated with combined exposure to local and general vibration (age 48.7±3.1 years); the second group consisted of 50 patients diagnosed with VD associated with exposure to local vibration (age 48.9+2.8 years); the control group consisted of 50 relatively healthy men not in contact with vibration (age 49.1+2.5 years). Survey on electronic stabilometer ST–150 (Biomera, Russia). Patients performed the Romberg test standing barefoot vertically on a stabilometric platform with a “European” stop position. Statistical processing of the results was carried out using the software package “Statistica 10.0” (StatSof, USA, 2011). Methods of descriptive statistics included estimation of median, lower and upper quartiles. The statistical significance of the differences was determined using the nonparametric Wilkinson method. Differences were considered statistically significant at p<0.05.Results. In the analysis of the obtained stabilometric parameters found that in the first group of patients marked imbalance. Moreover, in comparison with the second group and the control group in the phase with eyes closed, patients are more difficult to maintain a given posture, which increases the length of statokinesigram (p=0.02 and p=0.005), increasing the speed of movement of the center of pressure (p=0.03 and p=0.004) and the square of the deviation of the center of pressure (p=0.03 and p=0.004). When closing the eyes, patients put more effort to maintain balance, which affects the rate of mechanical work (p=0.001 and p=0.001). When comparing the second group with the control group, no statistically significant difference was found in the main stabilometric indicators. Conclusions: In the group of patients with VD associated with the combined effects of local and general vibration, marked (64%) and moderate (36%) postural disorders, especially in the phase of closed eyes. In the group of patients with VS associated with local vibration exposure and in the control group, imbalance was detected in 10% and 6%, respectively. The leading role in the occurrence of postural disorders in patients with VD, associated with the combined effects of local and general vibration, plays the formation of a focus of stagnant excitation in the centers of vibration sensitivity. In the future, the pulse can spread to nearby centers of pain, temperature sensitivity and proprioception, which contributes to the emergence of lower limb polyneuropathy and impaired stability in patients with vibration disease.

Background. Сhronic atrophic gastritis certainly remains an urgent problem of gastroenterology but data on sexual differences in the content of cytokines in this pathology are quite contradictory. The purpose of the study: to assess the gender characteristics of the cytokine profile in patients with chronic atrophic gastritis. Materials and methods. The study included 120 patients with gastric atrophy, according to histological examination of biopsies. The control group consisted of 20 healthy individuals, men and women equally. In all patients, we have evaluated the levels of interleukins (IL-8, IL-10, IL-18), tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α), vasculoendothelial growth factor (VEGF) by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay using appropriate reagent from Vector-BEST kits and the Stat Fax 303 Plus analyzer. Results. In men with chronic atrophic gastritis, there is a more pronounced imbalance towards pro-inflammatory cytokines, in particular the level of IL-18 is 1.7 times higher (p < 0.05) than in women. In 46.2 % of cases, the content of IL-8 was also elevated in men by 1.3 times (p > 0.05) compared to women. The level of anti-inflammatory cytokine IL-10 does not have a significant gender difference in patients with precancerous conditions of the stomach. The median of IL-18/IL-10 ratio in men is 2 times higher than in women: 65.36 (21.67; 154.25) vs. 32.15 (12.76; 191.85) (p < 0. 05). In males, IL-8/IL-10 ratio is also 1.5 times higher, which is 2.25 (1.29; 7.68) vs. 1.49 (0.75; 9.78) but this difference was not statically significant. Serum content of VEGF in men exceeded the same indicator in women by 1.4 times (p < 0.05). Direct correlation between VEGF content and the levels of TNF-α (r = 0.47, p < 0.05), IL-8 (r = 0.42, p < 0.05), IL-18 (r = 0.58, p < 0.05) confirm the evidence of increased VEGF expression under the influence of many proangiogenic growth factors and proinflammatory cytokines. Conclusions. With an increase in the level of IL-18 and VEGF by more than 30 %, men require dynamic monitoring for early detection of precancerous structural changes in the gastric mucosa.

Aim: to determine the nature of the cytokine response in patients with measles infection of varying severity, both with and without complications. Materials and methods. 65 patients who were treated in the Kharkiv regional infectious hospital from 2017 to 2019 were included in the study. All patients were divided into 4 groups depending on the severity of the disease and the presence of complications. All patients included in the study on the day of admission to the hospital and on the 10th day of hospital stay were examined for serum concentrations of pro- and anti-inflammatory cytokines as well as interferons alpha and gamma, which was carried out by solid-phase enzyme immunoassay using kits manufactured by “Vector-best” company (RF) according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Statistical processing of the obtained data was carried out using the IBM SPSS Statistics 22.0 software package. Results. The study of the levels of pro- and anti-inflammatory cytokines in dynamics showed a decrease in their levels on the 10th day of hospital stay in patients who did not have complications, and their increase in patients whose illness was accompanied by the development of pneumonia. Levels of INFα and INFγ in dynamics increased in all groups of patients. Significant changes in relation to the control group in the ratio of pro- and anti-inflammatory cytokines in the dynamics were observed only in patients with a dissociative type of cytokine response. In patients of this group on the 1st and 10th days of hospital stay the ratio index of IL-6/IL-10 was shifted towards a significant predominance of proinflammatory cytokines. Conclusions. The study demonstrates the presence of three possible types of cytokine response in patients with measles infection of varying severity: normoreactive, dissociative and hyporeactive. Each type was typical to a specific group of patients and influenced the clinical course of the disease and the development of complications, which is associated with the dynamics of increasing levels of pro- and anti-inflammatory cytokines and increasing levels of INFα and INFγ. The dynamics of increase in levels of these factors in severe disease is lower than in moderate disease. Taking into account the obtained data it can be assumed that in process of anti-infectious immunity formation in response to measles infection the prevalence of the Th-1 immune response over the Th-2 response becomes important.

The modern state of social-economic processes development demands increasing the level of food safety of the state, especially providing population by the high quality foods of domestic production, specifically by pork. One of criteria for estimating pigs' meatness is determining the fat thickness in different points of a trunk. The informative content of measuring in different parts of a trunk is different and it needs detailed study. The fat thickness is the most common as trait for pigs' meatness in the practice of pig breeding because it has high correlation with meat yield in carcasses. The aim of our research was the comparative study of fat deposition regularities in different parts of a trunk of Large White and Mirgorod pigs in different age periods. For conducting researches 24 pigs of both breeds with average live weight about 40 kg and at age not more 4 months were selected. The fat thickness was measured at live animals using ultrasonic device Draminski in such points: on withers, the level of the 6-7th thoracic vertebra, the level of the 1st-2nd loins vertebra and sacrum. Measuring the fat thickness was carried out at the age of 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 months. During researches it was carried out the statistical processing of obtained material. Reliability of obtained indexes of productivity was determined. Regularities of formatting fat thickness and fat deposition rate depending on the age were studied. For the results of researches it has been studied and compared economically valuable traits of the most spread domestic pigs of Large White and Mirgorod breeds. By comparative study of growth and development of young pigs of experimental and control groups it has been found that animals of Large White breed differed by lesser fat deposits in all points of measuring. Thus, at 6-months’ age they had lesser thickness of fat in all parts of a trunk. More expressed tendency was at withers and the level of the 6-7th thoracic vertebra, at that in the first case the difference between groups was reliable (p < 0.01). The fat deposition rate in young pigs of both breeds was not the same in different points of measuring along a trunk. Above mentioned tendencies were intensified with the age. Purebred animals of intrabreed type LW-1 at 7-months’ age had reliable less thickness of fat in comparison with the control group: on withers (p < 0.01), at the level of the 6-7th thoracic vertebra, the level of the 1st-2nd loins vertebra (p < 0.05) and on sacrum (p < 0.01). In future, according to economic and scientific expediency, the animals of Mirgorod breed were excluded from the experiment. Concerning Large White breed, the researches were finished when animals were at 8 months’ age. The process of fat deposition in Large White pigs was less intensive in comparison to Mirgorod breed. The highest relative rate of fat thickness increase in both breeds was observed at the level of the 1st-2nd loins vertebra. By statistical processing of the obtained materials it has been found that the difference of average arithmetical indexes (as absolute and relative) between the experimental and control groups during growth and development had distinct tendency to increasing in all points of measuring. The reliability of the difference between the averages in groups with the age of animals increased. A higher reliability of data was obtained at measuring of the front parts of a trunk of pigs at the level of the 6th-7th thoracic vertebra and on withers. The carried out researches at all points of measuring give the reason to confirm that the fat deposits of Large White pigs are less comparing to Mirgorod breed. Conclusions. 1. Carcasses of animals of intrabreed type ULW-1 are comparatively more technologically suitable and economically beneficial for agricultural proceeding industry. 2. Animals of intrabreed type ULW-1 at 7-months’ age had reliable less thickness of fat in comparison with the control group: on withers, at the level of the 6-7th thoracic vertebra, the level of the 1st-2nd loins vertebra and on sacrum. 3. The process of fat deposition in Large White pigs was less intensive in comparison to Mirgorod breed.
