This research aimed to determine the stocking density that support the best growth and survival rate of carp cultivated in aquaponic systems, and to study the water quality of carp culture with different stocking densities in aquaponic systems. The study used 12 aquaria measuring 40x40x40 cm each (water volume of 50 liters). The experimental fish are carp (Cyprinus carpio) weighing in average of 3.5 g/individual.  The fish were cultivated with different stocking densities as treatment, including A = 4; B = 7; C = 10 and D = 13 individuals/aquarium.  The fish were fed with pellet at 5%/body weight/day with a feeding frequency of two times a day. The study was conducted for 4 weeks. Data consisting of daily growth, survival and water quality parameters (temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen, ammonia, nitrite and nitrate) were measured once a week. The data obtained were analyzed by ANOVA. The results of the study showed that the difference in stocking density had no significant effect on the growth and survival of carp.  Water quality was in a reasonable range to support the growth and survival of carp cultivated with aquaponic systems.Keywords: cultivation, carp, aquaponics, stocking density, growth

The study was conducted to compare the effect of three different fry rearing systems such as: hapa, cistern and pond on the growth and survival of goldfish (Carassius auratus ) fry. A total of 645 fry (mean initial weight: 0.0071 mg) were randomly distributed in the three treatments (systems) each having three replications. The stocking density was same in all the treatments with respect to the water volume of the systems which was 10 fry/hapa, 125 fry/cistern and 80 fry/pond. The trial lasted for 40 days. The water quality parameters were favorable in all the treatments during the period of the study. The growth and survival of goldfish fry varied among the systems. Highest average weight gain and specific growth rate (SGR) were observed in pond followed by hapa and cistern. On the other hand, survival rate was highest in cistern followed by hapa and pond. It can be concluded from the study that the pond was the best system in terms of growth rate and cistern was the best system for survival of gold fish fry.Res. Agric., Livest. Stocking density is an important factor in cultivation, it can save land use, and increase the efficiency of fish farming. The purpose of this research was to determine the different density information on tilapia seeds measuring 2-3 cm as an alternative to using tilapia (O. niloticus) seeds 7-9 cm in size so that they can be developed in Batur Lake. The research was conducted in January - March 2020 in the floating net cages in Trunyan Kintamani village, Bangli, Bali. The research used a completely randomized design method with three treatments and three repetitions. The Tilapia seeds used are 2-3 cm with different stocking densities, 100 ind/m3, 150 ind/m3, and 200 ind/m3. The parameters observed were SGR (Specific Growth Rate), absolute growth, SR (Survival Rate), FCR (Feed Conversion Ratio), and water quality including temperature, DO, pH, TDS. The results of this study indicated that stocking density did not have a significant effect on the growth and survival rate of tilapia seeds, because the temperature was too cold so that the tilapia seeds failed to adapt properly at the beginning of stocking and the physiological conditions of the fish were disturbed so that the fish experienced stress and went to died. Water quality parameters measured include temperature with a range value of 25.86-25.880C, pH with a range value of 9.08-9.13, DO (Dissolved oxygen) with a range value of 7.9-8 mg/L, and TDS (Dissolved solids) with a range value of 1040.25-1041.58 mg/L.

Ikan tambakan (Helostoma temminkii) adalah satu dari beberapa jenis spesies ikan air tawar yang ekonomis di Indonesia. Komoditas ini cukup digemari di beberapa wilayah Jawa, Sumatera, dan Kalimantan. Oleh karena itu, prospek pengembangan budidaya ikan tambakan merupakan hal yang penting. Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui respons ketahanan ikan tambakan terhadap paparan beberapa parameter kualitas air. Seluruh kegiatan pengujian dilakukan di Balai Riset Perikanan Budidaya Air Tawar dan Penyuluhan Perikanan, Bogor. Ikan yang digunakan pada percobaan ini adalah ikan tambakan generasi kedua hasil domestikasi (panjang standar: 7,5 ± 0,28 cm; bobot: 15,2 ± 2,11 g). Uji toleransi yang dilakukan meliputi ketahanan terhadap salinitas, pH, suhu, dan oksigen terlarut. Jumlah ikan yang diuji untuk masing-masing parameter kualitas air yaitu 30 ekor pada perlakuan salinitas, pH, dan suhu, serta 40 ekor untuk pengujian toleransi terhadap oksigen terlarut dengan tiga kali ulangan pada masing-masing perlakuan. Berdasarkan data penelitian, ikan tambakan dapat bertahan hidup dan beraktivitas secara normal pada kisaran salinitas £ 10 ppt, pH 5-9, suhu 20-35oC, dan kandungan oksigen terlarut > 3 mg/L. Kisaran nilai pada parameter kualitas air di luar batas toleransi dapat berpengaruh negatif pada pertumbuhan dan sintasan ikan tambakan.Kissing gouramy (Helostoma temminkii) is one of valued freshwater fish in Indonesia. This species is quite popular in some areas of Java, Sumatra, and Kalimantan. Therefore, the development of aquaculture for this species is essential. This paper was intended to determine the response of fish resistance to the exposure of several water quality parameters. All of the experiments were carried out at the Institute for Freshwater Aquaculture Research and Fisheries Extension, Bogor. The experimental fish used in the experiment were domesticated kissing gouramy (2nd generation) with standard length of 7.5 ± 0.28 cm and total weight of 15.2 ± 2.11 g. The tests, on the resistance to salinity, pH, temperature, and dissolved oxygen. For each treatment, 30 fish were challenged with salinity, pH, and temperature treatments, and 40 fish for oxygen tolerance treatment. All treatments were conducted with three replications. Based on the results, kissing gouramy could survive and behave normally in the range of £ 10 ppt salinity, pH 5-9, temperature 20-35°C, and dissolved oxygen content of more than 3 mg/L. The range of values on water quality parameters which exceeded the tolerance limit could result in the negative effect on the growth and survival of kissing gouramy.

The present study was conducted over 4 months during 1st September to 30th December 2005 to observe the effects of stocking density on growth and survival of Thai Sharpunti, Barbodes gonionotus in 3 earthen ponds of size of 2.8    decimal each. The stocking densities of 80, 100 and 120 fish/decimal were treated as T1, T2 and T3, respectively. All    the treatments were subjected to the same feeding regime and fertilization. The range of water quality parameters    such as temperature were 30.31, 30.16 and 29.65 0C, transparency were 29.94, 37.63, and 40.02 cm, water depth    were 143.91, 148.67 and 151.54 cm, dissolved oxygen were 4.72, 4.35 and 4.24 mg/l, pH were 7.71, 7.49 and 7.31,    plankton biomass were 43.05 x 105 /l, 37.97 x 105 /l and 36.05 x 105 /l in T1, T2 and T3, respectively. Among the    growth parameters, mean weight gain were 48.87 g, 41.43 g and 34.09 g, percent weight gain were 698.21%,    591.93% and 487%, the average daily gains were 1.65, 1.54 and 1.20 g, the specific growth rate were 1.73, 1.61 and    1.47%, in T1, T2 and T3 respectively. The gross total productions of Barbonymus gonionotus were 1041.96, 1085.71    and 1019.64 kg/ha/120 days while the net productions were 911.60, 929.46 and 846.43 kg/ha/120 days in T1, T2 and    T3, respectively. The Kapar fish  (Belontia hasselti) is the consumption fish that is obtained only on wild caught. Not yet succeeded in culture this fish, so domestication is needed as an early stage of the aquaculture. The purpose of this research was to knowning the stages of domestication of Kapar fish caught from the Sebangau river in the process of adaptation to new habitats in semi-permanent ponds which is seen from the observation of water quality as well as the growth and survival rate of the Kapar fish. Environmental adaptation for culture fish is the key to successful domestication. Observations of water quality in the fish's wild habitat with the quality of the water where the fish adapt in the pond are slightly different, especially the DO and pH values, but the water quality is still within the tolerance of the Kapar fish to live. The water quality parameters show the temperature in the range 27-29 °C, DO in the range 3-4.2 mg.L-1, and pH in the range 7-7.4. The growth in length and weight during the research showed that the fish were able to adapt feeding. The length and an average weight of Kapar fish until the research were 12.1 cm in length and 31.4 g of weight and it was known that during the research period the absolute length growth of Kapar fish was 1 cm and the absolute weight growth was 8 g . Results of data analysis carried out during the research that the survival rate of Kapar fish is 83 %.

Metropolitan Istanbul Wastewater Treatment System contains 14 marine outfalls, seven of which include secondary stage biological treatment processes. The others have only mechanical treatment units including bar screens and grit chambers. Only one mechanical pre-treatment and marine disposal system, Yenikapi plant, has been operated since 1988 among these 14 plants and six of them are ready for construction. In this paper, the environmental impact of Yenikapi pretreatment and marine disposal system on the water quality of the Bosphorus and the Sea of Marmara has been investigated. Long term water quality measurements which were performed in pre-and post-dischange applications have been evaluated. Water quality parameters including pH, DO, BODs, TKN, P and total coliforms were measured at various sampling stations around the discharge points. A general evaluation of marine outfall systems to be constructed in the scope of Istanbul wastewater treatment project, on the water quality of the Sea of Marmara and the Bosphorus has been presented.

The paper describes the results of measurements from a 2 year period on a 95 hectare urban catchment in Aalborg, Denmark. The results of the rain/discharge measurements include 160 storm events corresponding to an accumulated rain depth of totally 753 mm. The water quality measurements include 15 events with time series of concentration of SS, COD, BOD, total nitrogen and total phosphorus. The quality parameters showed significant first flush effects. The paper discusses whether either the event average concentration or the accumulated event mass is the most appropriate way to characterize the quality of the outflow.

Security of supply of water, which meets the quality parameters specified in applicable standards, is now the basis for the functioning of most societies. In addition to climatic, biological, chemical, and physical hazards, it is worth paying attention to consumers’ subjective perception of the quality of tap water supplied in the area of Poland. The article discusses various activities related to water resources management and analyses the results of an evaluation of selected quality parameters of tap water in Poland. A novelty on a European scale here is an examination of the evaluation of these parameters based on potential seasonal differences (spring, summer, autumn, winter). For the first time in the world literature, PROFIT analysis was used to evaluate selected parameters of tap water quality. The aim of the article was to present a model for the evaluation of the parameters of tap water supplied in different seasons of the year in Poland. Due to the complexity of the research aspects, a mixed-methods research procedure was used in which a literature review was combined with a survey and statistical analysis. For the purpose of the survey, an original survey questionnaire called “Survey of customer opinions on selected parameters of tap water supplied in Poland” was developed especially for this study. The conducted research confirmed the adopted hypothesis that the results of evaluation of selected tap water parameters vary depending on the period (spring, summer, autumn, winter) in Poland. The model developed by means of PROFIT analysis makes it possible to highlight to water suppliers the specific quality parameters in particular seasons of the year (spring, summer, autumn, winter), which may improve the quality of water supplied in Poland and thus, in the long-term perspective, increase the level of satisfaction of water recipients and confidence in drinking tap water in Poland.

Present study points out the impact of Lockdown on the health of the Yamuna river at Delhi stretch by comparing prelockdown and Post-lockdown period by studying the reports of pollution monitoring agencies. Delhi segment of the Yamuna is highly polluted, where alongwith domestic sewage a huge quantity of industrial waste is being discharged continuously without proper treatment. Pre lockdown (March 2020) water quality parameters at three sampling stations named as Palla, Nizammuddin Bridge and Okhla barrage U/s in Delhi were, pH were 8.7, 7.3 and 7.2, DO were 17.1 mg/L, not detected in later two sites, BOD were 7.9 mg/L, 57 mg/L and 27 mg/L and COD were 28 mg/L, 90 mg/L and 95 mg/L respectively and postlockdown period (April 2020) the pH was 7.8, 7.2 and 7.1, DO was 8.3 mg/L, 2.4 mg/L and 1.2 mg/L BOD was 2 mg/L, 5.6 mg/ L and 6.1 mg/L and COD were 6 mg/L, 16 mg/L and 18 mg/L respectively. The study of these parameters at three sampling stations reveals that the lack of industrial pollutants discharging due to nationwide lockdown for COVID-19 pandemic had positive effect on water quality of this river. Water quality could be maintained by planned establishment of industries and setup of ETP with without gap between generation and treatment.

The study was conducted to know the status of water quality of the Ramna, Crescent and Hatirjheel lakes in the Dhaka city. Water samples were collected from three different points of each lake and analyzed for various physicochemical parameters including temperature, pH, EC, TDS, DO, BOD, hardness, alkalinity, acidity during the period from November 2013 to April 2014. The mean temperature 22.54, 24.59 and 24.24°C; EC 15400, 282.00 and 618.27 ?Scm-1; TDS 85.38, 155.60 and 339.90 ppm; pH 7.73, 7.85 and 7.67; DO 3.51, 3.92 and 3.65 ppm; BOD 0.93, 0.73 and 3.15 ppm; hardness 95.00, 108.56 and 105.11 ppm; alkalinity 48.9, 120.7 and 249.1 ppm, and acidity 2.18, 2.67 and 2.05 ppm were investigated from Ramna, Crescent and Hatirjheel lakes, respectively. Lower concentration of DO was observed in all three lakes that severely harmed the aquatic organisms and degrade their habitat. The comparative study demonstrated that the concentration of BOD, EC, TDS, alkalinity and acidity of Hatirjheel Lake was higher than Ramna and Crescent lakes which indicated pollution of the lake water. The rain and storm water runoff, lack of awareness of people were responsible for the pollution of Ramna, Crescent and Hatirjheel lakes water. Connection of the sewerage line with the rain water collection channels and mixing of solid waste with lake water are the main reasons for pollution of Hatirjheel lake. Poor water quality of these lakes affects the ecosystem and aesthetic beauty negatively. To maintain the sound environment and healthy ecosystem of the lakes and the surrounding areas need proper management and monitoring and implementation of existing laws and regulations.
