Gender and Gender stereotyping plays an influential role in one's personal and professional career too. The article tries to explore how gender effects gender stereotyping at both work place and home. The data had been collected from 100 faculty members from private universities located in Odisha, province of India through a questionnaire. Stratified random sampling technique was used for selecting respondents. Descriptive statistical methods are used for demographic data of the respondents. Cross tabulation is used to test the association between home stereotype score and workplace stereotype score. Statistical package for social sciences software is used for statistical analysis of the data. Results indicate that gender stereotyping still exists in the people with higher qualification also. The effect of gender stereotyping will be seen both at personal life and professional life. The people with no gender differentiation are more supportive than people with gender stereotyping.

Sports orientation is one of the important factors for improving an athletes’ performance in achieving sports achievements. This study aims to determine the effect of parental social support and gender on athlete’s sports orientation. Quantitative approach was used as the research method of this study with a correlational research design. The subjects of study were 86 athletes (53.49 % women) at the Students Sports Training Center (SSTC) of DKI Jakarta Province who were selected through convenience sampling technique. Demographic data questionnaires, Parents Social Support Scale and Sport Orientation Questionnaires were used as the measuring instruments. Data analysis uses linear regression (simple and multiple) techniques show results as follows: (1) Parental social support has a significant effect on athletes’ sports orientation (tcount = 4.396 > ttable = 1.988); (2) Gender does not have a significant effect on athletes’ sports orientation (tcount = 1.891 < ttable = 1.988); (3) Parental social support and gender can simultaneously predict athletes’ sports orientation (Fcount = 12.93 > Ftable = 2.49). The effective contribution of parental social support and gender simultaneously toward athletes’ sports orientation is 21.9 % and the rest is influenced by other factors outside the study. The role of parental social support (17.75 %) is more dominant than gender (4.14 %)

Background: Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) is widely used for diagnosis and treatment of hepatobiliary disorders. However, there are many adverse events associated with this procedure. The objective of this study was to determine the frequency of early post-ERCP adverse events in both diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in our set-up. Material & Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted at Department of Gastroenterology, Hayatabad Medical Complex, Peshawar, Pakistan, from 20th December, 2016 to 20th January, 2017. Consecutive sampling technique was used. Patients undergoing ERCP whether diagnostic or therapeutic, irrespective of age and gender, were included. Those having evidence of pancreatitis, cholangitis, or previous ERCP, or abdominal surgery were excluded. The outcome was early post-ERCP complications including pancreatitis, cholangitis, bleeding and perforation. The patients were assessed for these complications immediately and 72 hours after the procedure. Demographic data like age and gender were recorded. The data regarding early post-ERCP complications were recorded and presented as frequencies. Results: Total 102 patients were included in the study. Among these, 38(37.3%) were males and 64 (62.7%) females. Mean age of patients included was 50.89±15.67 years (range 8 to 90 years). Overall post-ERCP complications were noted in 6(5.88%) patients. The most common complication was cholangitis in 5(4.9%) patients, followed by pancreatitis in only one (0.98%). Bleeding and perforation occurred in none of our patients. Conclusion: The most common Post-ERCP complication is cholangitis. Based on our findings, we suggest closer monitoring of patients undergoing ERCP for development of infection. Proper disinfection protocols should be followed to prevent infection.

To test how early social environments affect children’s consideration of gender, 3- to 6-year-old children (N = 80) enrolled in gender-neutral or typical preschool programs in the central district of a large Swedish city completed measures designed to assess their gender-based social preferences, stereotypes, and automatic encoding. Compared with children in typical preschools, a greater proportion of children in the gender-neutral school were interested in playing with unfamiliar other-gender children. In addition, children attending the gender-neutral preschool scored lower on a gender stereotyping measure than children attending typical preschools. Children at the gender-neutral school, however, were not less likely to automatically encode others’ gender. The findings suggest that gender-neutral pedagogy has moderate effects on how children think and feel about people of different genders but might not affect children’s tendency to spontaneously notice gender.


Social Advertisements is an influential device for social change. Social advertising is a process of changes in the behaviour is to be positive for promoting social issues through marketing and advertising principles From Social advertising change in behaviour to the individual targeted groups, make them to accept with a behaviour of new-fangled, discard a old behaviour, amend a present behaviour. Social advertising intends to confines targeted customers who wants to change, mutate or reject certain practices such as smoking, drinking, etc. and stimulate them to carry out socially desirable actions. We can see that organizations like UNICEF, UNESCO have used Social advertising for various purposes and with various degrees of success all across the world. Social Advertising and marketing is increasingly common in UK, USA, Australia, Canada and Scandinavian countries, where fundraising and collaboration between companies and NGOs happen almost every day. In a country like India which is faced with a multitude of problems we can reap huge benefits from the proper usage of social advertisements. Attitude and practices are interlinked. Actions are based on thoughts, Practices are based on Attitudes, The people who are having favourable attitudes and they are having favourable practices. The consequences of both primary & secondary data are related to each other which determine that the attitude and practices are interweaved to each other. Therefore the study deduces that there is association between the attitude and practices of health and hygiene. A sample size of 275 was considered and stratified random sampling technique was adopted for this uni-dimensional study which has been carried out with emphasis upon three major demographic variablesDistrict, Area and Gender. Considering these variables as strata, a sample was collected from the respondents belonging to the different established strata in the form of questionnaires. Questionnaires were developed in consultation with experts which are having high reliability scores. After the collection of data, the data was subjected to both descriptive and inferential statistical analysis based on the hypotheses formulated using SPSS (version 22.0). The inference of the study was that people who were regularly exposed to social advertisements gained a high level of awareness about health &hygiene, and developed favourable attitude and practices through attitude and practices.

This research is a thought process on social structure that is not understood as the consequence of human repetitive action. This has become folkways, causing gender stereotyping of women even more perpetuated by media's various narrations. This research aims to describe gender stereotyping of women in Indonesian television media. This was done by analyzing the broadcasting shows by using Gidden's theory of structuration. This descriptive research is a literary study that includes books, journals, researches and websites as the data. The collected data then analyzed by using Giddens' structuration theory. This article began with the review on structuration theory. Next is a review on structuration theory from the point of view of commmunication study. The gender stereotyping of women case in the media was then broken down and analyzed by using structuration theory. The result showed that the agent's action and the structure are inseparable, in harmony with Gidden's concept of duality. In fact, many women have put up a fight against this gender stereotyping through social-feminist movements. On the other hand, they actually do follow the existing structure both unconsciously and consciously. This structure, however, is still growing among the people of modern society.

This research work draws attention towards heated debate on transfer of gender biased ideology to generations embedding from gendered parenting. Gendered parenting has the potential to be a breeding ground for fueling the belief of gender stereotyping in the minds of their offsprings. This notion of gender stereotyping has created a picture in the heads of the descendants regarding the fixed gender roles which develops gendered socialization in governing the social world from the lens of gender biasness. The objective of the study is to examine empirically the impact of gendered parenting on gendered socialization in their children’s marital life. The study adopts thirty-two-items scale devised by Brogan & Kutner (1976) and eight- items scale under Gender Role Stereotype Scale (2012) by taking into consideration a sample size of eight hundred respondents comprising of highly educated married professionals and their parents. The findings revealed that children have rightly perceived their parent’s act of gender stereotype in their childhood. Consequently, despite being highly educated, the act of gender stereotyping continues in their married life as they burgeoned under the reflection of gendered parenting. Furthermore, it is also interpreted in the analysis that the female respondents are adversely affected by the pervasive bias and prejudices of gender stereotype in professional life in comparison to the male respondents. The study makes efforts to enhance the understanding of the community of parents to limit the transmission of gendered ideology to their next generations, thereby, progressing towards egalitarian society.
