scholarly journals The Cultural Value and Character Education of Full Day School Implementation in Indonesia

This qualitative paper investigated how full-day school is viewed from the aspect of character education and the formation of cultural values for students. The results were obtained that the learning process by extending learning time is an activity in instilling character education through interaction between teacher, student, and the school environment. Character education is carried out through extracurricular activities, carrying out intense and ongoing communication between teachers and students and organizing routine diversity activities. The implementation of the full-day school policy is also an effort to encourage awareness of students through cultural activities as a step to instill concern and love for the values of local traditions in the city of Bengkulu by conducting music, dance and other creative activities.

Abstract: The development of the globalization era not only has positive impacts but also negative impacts. It is important to strengthen students' character because globalization hurts the development of the character of the young generation. This study aims to describe the implementation of full-day school policy by instilling the value of strengthening character education (PPK) in SMAN 2 Katingan Hilir. The method in this study is qualitative with a descriptive approach. Data collection techniques are observation, interview, and documentation. The informant selection technique in this study uses purposive sampling, which includes the School Principal, Vice Principal in the Curriculum and Student Affairs, Islamic Agana Education teacher, Citizenship Education teacher, and 5 students. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of full-day school policies by planting PPK values in SMAN 2 Katingan Hilir is carried out through extracurricular, co-curricular and extracurricular activities. Two PPK values are the focus of this research, namely cooperation that can be seen from the students to always work together to apply to help each other, hand in hand to clean and maintain the cleanliness of the school environment. While the value of independence seen from students in doing everything so it is not easy to depend on others.Keywords: Implementation of policies, Full Day School, Strengthening Character Education Abstrak: Perkembangan era globalisasi tidak hanya memberikan dampak yang positif tetapi juga dampak negatif. Penting untuk memberikan penguatan karakter siswa karena globalisasi memiliki dampak negatif terhadap perkembangan karakter generasi muda. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan implementasi kebijakan full day school dengan penanaman nilai penguatan pendidikan karakter (PPK) di SMAN 2 Katingan Hilir. Metode dalam penelitian ini yaitu kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data yaitu observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Teknik pemilihan informan dalam penelitian ini menggunakan purposive sampling, yaitu meliputi Kepala Sekolah, wakil kepala sekolah bidang kurikulum dan kesiswaan, guru Pendidikan Agana Islam, guru Pendidikan Kewarganegaraan, dan 5 orang siswa Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa implementasi kebijakan full day school dengan penanaman nilai PPK di SMAN 2 Katingan Hilir dilakukan melalui kegiatan intrakurikuler, ko-kurikuler, dan ekstrakurikuler. Ada dua nilai PPK yang menjadi fokus penelitian ini yaitu gotong royong yang dapat dilihat dari diri peserta didik untuk selalu berkerja sama menerapkan untuk saling membantu satu sama lain, saling bahu membahu membersihkan dan menjaga kebersihan lingkungan sekolah. Sedangkan nilai mandiri dilihat dari peserta didik dalam melakukan segala hal agar tidak mudah bergantung pada orang lain.Kata kunci: Implementasi kebijakan, Full Day School, Penguatan Pendidikan Karakter

Abstract: The development of the globalization era not only has positive impacts but also negative impacts. The study aims to find the application of the full-day school policy for improved student's education in Senior High School 2 Katingan Hilir Katingan Regency, along with the obstacles encountered and the results of the ongoing implementation. Research methods are qualitative with a descriptive approach. This research is done in Senior High School 2 Katingan Hilir regency Katingan. Data collection techniques: observation, interviews, and documentation. Results of research: the implementation of full-day school policy against enhanced character education is the policy of the provincial educational service government as a reference school and became the only full day school of 2017. Implementation of full-day school policy against improved student education: lack of student participation and teachers in full-day school, extremely hot and barren school conditions, inadequate infrastructure, teachers and undisciplined students and always late. Whereas the external factor is the parents' less proactive toward school activities and policies. The result of the implementation of the full-day school policy on the strengthening of students' character education: the value of partnership seen by the learners is always working together to apply to each other's help, shoulder to shoulder to clean and maintain school environment, the independent value of learners in doing all things to avoid being easy on others.Keywords: Implementation of policies, Full Day School, Strengthening Character Education Abstrak: Perkembangan era globalisasi tidak hanya memberikan dampak yang positif tetapi juga dampak negatif. Metode penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Penelitian dilakukan di SMAN-2 Katingan Hilir. Teknik pengumpulan data: observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian: Implementasi kebijakan full day school terhadap penguatan pendidikan karakter merupakan kebijakan Pemerintah Dinas Pendidikan Provinsi sebagai sekolah rujukan dan menjadi satu-satunya sekolah full day school tahun 2017. Kendala implementasi kebijakan full day school terhadap penguatan pendidikan karakter siswa: kurangnya partisipasi siswa dan guru dalam pelaksanaan full day school, kondisi sekolah yang sangat panas dan gersang, sarana prasarana belum memadai, guru-guru dan siswa yang tidak disiplin dan selalu datang terlambat. Sedangkan faktor eksternal adalah kurang proaktifnya orang tua siswa terhadap kegiatan dan kebijakan sekolah. Hasil dari implementasi kebijakan full day school terhadap penguatan pendidikan karakter siswa: nilai gotong royong dilihat dari peserta didik selalu berkerja sama menerapkan untuk saling membantu satu sama lain, saling bahu membahu membersihkan dan menjaga kebersihan lingkungan sekolah, nilai Mandiri dilihat dari peserta didik dalam melakukan segala hal agar tidak mudah bergantung pada orang lain.Kata kunci: Implementasi kebijakan, Full Day School, Penguatan Pendidikan Karakter

This research aims to describe the implementation of full day school system  at SMAN 11 Makassar. This research is qualitative research with a descriptive approach, the subjects in this research consisted of the headmaster, the deputy headmaster of the curriculum section, the deputy headmaster of the public relations section, the deputy head of the student section, the teacher, and students. The sampling techniques are purposive sampling, snowball sampling, and incidental sampling. The data collection techniques are participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The data analysis technique is done in three stages, namely data reduction, data presentation, and verification. The test of data validity use method triangulation and source triangulation. The results of this study show that the implementation of full day school at SMAN 11 Makassar exceed time standarization of Permendikbud No 23 Tahun 2017, it ought to 8 hours in a day or 40 hours in a 5 days.  Extracurricular activities of Kelompok Ilmiah Remaja (KIR) still have not implemented, eventhough it obliged based on Permendikbud. Implementation of day school is divided into several parts, namely activities that are daily, weekly, incidental, annual activities. Inhibiting factors are facilities and infrastructure, lack of learning innovations from teachers, background of students, comparison between the number of teachers and students is not comparable, schools have not established cooperation with educational institutions, and physical conditions of teachers and students who are easily tired. Supporting factors are the availability of projector facilities for each teacher and screen for each class, and the availability of adequate laboratory facilities such as laboratories in physics, chemistry, biology, computers, and languages.

Abstract: The purpose of this study is to determine the implementation of Islamic education based on religious and honest character in full day school. This research is a field research with a qualitative approach. The data collection techniques are interview, observation, and documentation. This research is located at SD Plus Tahfizhul Quran (PTQ) Annida Salatiga and the respondens are the principal, teachers, and parents of students. The analysis in this research is descriptive. The policy of strengthening the religious character and honest attitude of SD PTQ Annida Salatiga students is planned in a structured manner through planning programs and work programs. Religious and honest character is by carrying out the values ​​contained in religious characters such as praying, praying, reading the Al-Qur'an and fasting. Strengthening the character of an honest attitude, namely muroja'ah book reports, children's prayer book reports, honesty not bringing pocket money, and pickets according to schedule. Implementation of this honest and religious character education program through intracurricular, co-curricular and extracurricular activities. These character education programs have positive results as same with parents' expectations Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui praktik pendidikan agama Islam berbasis penguatan karakter religius dan jujur di lingkungan full day school. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian lapangan dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan peneliti adalah wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Penelitian ini berlokasi di SD Plus Tahfizhul Quran (PTQ) Annida Salatiga dengan narasumber adalah kepala sekolah, guru, dan orang tua siswa. Analisis dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif. Kebijakan penguatan karakter religius dan sikap jujur siswa SD PTQ Annida Salatiga direncanakan secara terstruktur melalui program perencanaan dan program kerja. Penguatan karakter religius dan jujur adalah dengan melaksanakan nilai-nilai yang terkandung dalam karakter religius seperti berdoa, ibadah sholat, membaca Al-Qur’an dan ibadah puasa. Penguatan karakter sikap jujur yaitu laporan buku muroja’ah, laporan buku sholat anak, kejujuran tidak membawa uang saku, dan piket sesuai jadwal. Pelaksaan program penguatan karakter religius dan jujur ini melalui kegiatan intrakurikuler, kokurikuler dan ekstrakurikuler. Program-program penguatan karakter ini memiliki hasil positif sesuai harapan orang tua.

Purpose of the study: This paper aims to describe the basic reasons behind the application of the principal's humanisticapproach, and the steps of the principal's humanistic approach to optimizing character education strengthening programs.Methodology: This research uses a qualitative approach, case study design. Data collection is done through in-depthinterviews, participant observation, and study documentation to achieve research objectives.Main Findings: Research findings reveal that personal excellence (integrity, wholeness, and authenticity) and thehumanistic spirituality of inspirational figures inspire the principal's humanistic approach. In addition, the application of the principal's humanistic approach has a significant impact on optimizing the implementation of character education strengthening in schools and successfully forming the character of students.Applications of this study: This study can be useful for principals in the education department of Malang City, EastJava, Indonesia, to use a humanistic approach model in carrying out leadership roles, because it has been proveneffective in optimizing the implementation of optimizing character education strengthening programs in schools.Novelty/Originality of this study: The principal's role is to create a "humane" school environment through harmonious relationships, respecting subordinates as human beings, tolerant and non-discriminatory, giving examples of good behavior to subordinates based on self-excellence and imitating the spirituality of inspirational figures, so that good characters are formed in the teachers and students at school.

The purpose of this study was to obtain information about the development of creativity and art in full-day schools. This study used a qualitative method with the type of library research. Full day school was an integrated curriculum and integrated activity, which meant a system that was carried out consciously in order to organize a planned learning action, then implemented and evaluated the learning in a fun way, with the expectation that students did not feel bored and tiresome even though they had studied all day long. The results of the study revealed the schools that implemented the full day school system, seen from previous research or library research, had many significant advantages in the development of creativity and art, one of which was extracurricular activities that could support students' talents and creativity. Some of them were sports, art and musicextracurricular, or extracurricular of science and robotics, from this explanation, the researchers yielded hypothesis that full-day school had an impact on students’ development, especially on creativity and art at the elementary school level.

To foster character education in Indonesia, research on the role of social capital has become an urgent issue because character crisis is one of the growing concerns and recent stunning news stakes. National identity crises have shown anti-cultural behavior, anti-character, and less use of domestic social capital blatantly. This research aims to describe the role of social capital that determines the implementation of character education through Ki Hadjar Dewantara’s perspectives. This qualitative research was designed as a case study using purposive sampling with individual resources such as headmaster, teacher, student representatives, school committee, parents, foundation management, and school supervisor. This research was conducted at Tamansiswa Primary School, Yogyakarta, Indonesia, from November 2017 to January 2018. The research result shows that the social capital role determines the implementation of character education, and in Ki Hadjar Dewantara’s perspective, character education has been applied in all learning processes. Both intra-curricular and extracurricular activities support the school culture, and the family system is an integral part of habituation and exemplary character inculcation at school, family, and societal levels through mutual love, respect, assistance, and help. The obliged elements of social capital in embodying character education are trust, norm, and network.

<em>Full-day School is a learning system by emphasizing to students to be more in school with all existing activities and emphasizes on various educational activities so that students will be more able to explore themselves. With this system is able to shape the character of students by giving or planting moral and religios</em><em>ity</em><em> values. In 2016, the full-day school system was announced by the Indonesian Minister of Education and Culture, Mr. Muhajir Efendi and raised the pros and cons for its implementation. Al Izzah Integrated Islamic Primary School </em><em>in </em><em>Sorong City West Papua is a leading and favorite private primary school in Sorong City, West Papua, which has been implementing a full-day school system, starting from 2006 until now. The full-day school system implemented by Al Izzah Integrated Islamic Primary School in Sorong City is different from other schools, the time is to go home late in the afternoon but the concept of implementation is different. Full-day school</em><em> of</em><em> Al Izzah Integrated Islamic Primary School </em><em>in </em><em>Sorong City refers to the Curriculum of the Integrated Islamic School Network. The system is used because the program needs a lot of time. </em><em>This is a qualitative descriptive research. The primary data source comes from the Chairperson of the Al-Izzah Foundation, the principal, teachers, and students of Al-Izzah Integrated Islamic Primary School in Sorong City. The data collection techniques that are used is observation, interview, and documentation. The data are analyzed by Miles and Huberman method.</em> <em>Student output with the application of a full-day school system at Al Izzah Integrated Islamic Primary School in Sorong City, namely tartil students reading the Qur'an and memorizing at least 2 Juz Al-Qur'an, 5 values in the field of study are complete, d</em><em>h</em><em>uha and dhuhur prayers in congregation with awareness, dedicated to parents/teachers, good social behavior, love environment, and </em><em>independence</em><em>. The output includes the characters of Al Izzah Integrated Islamic Primary School students who have character, achievement, and independence.</em>

Character building is an important step in the process of education, especially Islamic education. The occurrence of various forms of immoral behavior from the community, especially students is an increasingly problematic education today. Character building needs to be done early on to students, both within the family and educational institutions. This paper is intended to look at the process of character building in one of the Madrasah Ibtidaiyah institutions in Yogyakarta that applies the Fullday school model with a boarding school education base. The formulation of the problem to be answered is about how the process of implementing the Fullday school system in fostering children's character and how to foster children's character with boarding-based values. The results of the study show that character building through the Fullday school program can run more effectively because the teacher's guidance to students is more intensive. In addition, the planting of the values of the pesantrenan can provide students with supplies, such as serving the parents, living a simple and thrifty life, discipline, and so on. Character education and coaching in MI Nurul Ummah is the parents' choice because education obtained by children outside the home can be guaranteed.

This study aims to determine the results of the formation of student character in a full day school. The method used is descriptive quantitative using the ex post facto approach. The population of this research was 117 people and 33 samples were taken using purposive random sampling technique. With data analysis techniques to see the average results of the formation of student characters using a character questionnaire. Based on the results of statistical data that has been done by researchers, students in the Full Day School environment have an average character of 88.21. From these data it can be concluded that students who are in full day school have good character.
