The number of accidents in the world is increasing day by day and most of these accidents are effectuated due to Driving While Intoxicated (DWI). Therefore, since the death due to the Drunken-Driving or Driving Under the Influence (DUI) of alcohol has assumed proportion larger(60%) than one can visualize. In order to combat such life-risking psroblems, we have designed a mock-up. This safety serious system is actualized using ARDUINO and the main unit of this project is alcohol detecting sensor. Here alcohol sensor(MQ3) is used in a steering wheel and also in the passenger seat to sense the alcohol molecules present inside the vehicle. When sensor equipped in a steering wheel senses the alcohol content (i.e)., when the level of alcohol of driver crosses a permissible limit, fails the attempt of the driver to start the engine irrespective of the passenger. To thwart the accidents due to immediate engine failure, a timer is proposed in the exemplary. This framework is also embodied with widely used GSM MODEM and it will automatically send the distress message to the owner of the vehicle or to the family member

Internet of Things (IoT) consists of smart devices which can sense the environment and performs the data interaction with the users by handling the large volume of data and also provide the numerous services to the users. It also plays the significant role in Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) using the Cognition ability. One of the primary causes for the road accidents is consumption of alcohol. Driving under the influence (DUI) or Driving While Intoxicated (DWI), and involves operating a vehicle with Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) level of at least 0.08 percent is considered as the punishable offense. In order to identify and prevent the driving with alcohol consumption, the ITS system can be designed with IoT based smart helmet system. The IoT system performs the data validation using the Bayesian Algorithm which significantly detects the alcohol consumption of the rider. And the system also provides the provision to control and ride the bike if and only if the rider does not consume the alcohol.

In 1982, California passed into law severe sanctions for driving while intoxicated. The effects of these law changes on policing were investigated. Using limited time series and elite interview methodologies, it was found that the law's passage was related to reduced arrest rates for several misdemeanors, including driving under the influence.

Drunken driving is a major issue due to which many road accidents are occurring. To overcome this many researches are going on and we also tried to develop a reflexive engine locking system In this paper we have developed a system through which when a person tries to drive by consuming alcohol will experience a automatic engine lock. By implementing this we can save lives of passengers as well as pedestrians and other people too. Today situation is worsening like for every thirty minutes accidents are happening and taking lives of many innocent people. To avoid this we are trying to implement a prototype for alcohol detection for drunk and drive. Based on threshold set, alcohol breath analyzer sense level of alcohol consumed by the driver and if it crosses the limit set it will automatically locks the engine. Due to drowsiness of driver and consumption of alcohol more number of accidents are happening. Because of this more lives are at risk. This design implements a model which saves lives of people inside and outside the vehicle.

I test the effect of harsher punishments and sanctions on driving under the influence (DUI). In this setting, punishments are determined by strict rules on blood alcohol content (BAC) and previous offenses. Regression discontinuity derived estimates suggest that having a BAC above the DUI threshold reduces recidivism by up to 2 percentage points (17 percent). Likewise having a BAC over the aggravated DUI threshold reduces recidivism by an additional percentage point (9 percent). The results suggest that the additional sanctions experienced by drunk drivers at BAC thresholds are effective in reducing repeat drunk driving. (JEL I12, K42, R41)

A number of traffic accidents which occurred in Indonesia increases year by year. One of the factors that causes traffic accidents is the driver driving a car in a drunken condition. Moreover, the method used by the police in testing someone whether he is drunken or not is very ineffective to take a sample of urine and blood from the driver. The purpose of the study is make alcohol detector that detects alcohol levels on the breath of the driver. The tool uses arduino uno as data processor, MQ-3 sensor as input, 2x16 character LCD as display, RGB LED and Speaker as indicator. Tools are designed to detect alcohol if more than 5%, then the car's electricity will be disconnected automatically. The methods used in the study is a experimental method. The study analyzed the effect of alcohol content and the distance of the sensor on the accuracy sensor MQ-3 readings. From the results of data analysis, it can be obtained that the optimum sensor distance for accuracy of reading alcohol sensor MQ-3. The data were analyzed using two-way anova. The result shows that there is an effect variation of alcohol content and sensor distance on the MQ-3 sensor reading. The optimum range of MQ-3 reading sensor is 10 cm with the lowest error value of 27,33% and the highest accuracy value of 72,67%.

The idea is about making vehicles more selfregulating and automatic which may inform or combat vehicle drivers under terrible conditions .The system consist of MQ-3 alcohol sensor to continuously observe the alcohol blood concentration level, to discover the presence of liquor in the breath of a vehicle’s driver. By placing sensor on steering wheel of the vehicle, the system has the capacity to continuously check alcohol concentration level from the driver’s breath. In case if driver is drunk while driving then the CCW system would get activated. Using CCW the car could change its own position and maintain its own speed depending on other nearby vehicles. This would decrease the extent of accident.

Road accident is an unintended incident which is responsible for deaths of people worldwide. According to National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), more than 1, 35,000 people die every year annually in Indian road accidents. The most significant cause is drunken driving and not wearing helmets while driving. The main objective here is to eradicate drunken driving and helmetless driving. In this regard, an attempt has been made by using microcontroller assisted RF transmitter and receiver unit. The IR sensor detects the presence of helmet on the head. MQ3 alcohol sensor detects the alcohol level. The comparator analyse the values and gives command to relay circuit. Thus the starting of two wheelers is controlled by the application of sensors. In addition to this, a motion sensor has also been incorporated to inform the driver about the presence of nearby vehicles.

The objective of this paper is to build a safety system which is integrated with the smart helmet and intelligent bike to reduce the probability of two-wheeler accidents and drunk and drive cases. The pressure sensor and the accelerometer sensor checks if the person is wearing the helmet or not. Alcohol sensors detects the alcoholic content in the rider’s breath. If the rider is not wearing the helmet or there is alcohol content found in rider’s breath, the bike remains off. The bike will not start until the rider wears the helmet and there is no alcoholic content present stating that rider did not consume alcohol. When the rider crashes, helmet hits the ground and sensors detect the motion and tilts of helmet and reports the occurrence of an accident and sends information of the location of accident to the family members of the rider and the emergency contact numbers.
