scholarly journals Role of 5G Networks: Issues, Challenges and Applications

Due to revolutionary development in electronic and communication, mobile and handheld devices become the part of our daily life. As a result, volume of data traffic on Internet is increasing day by day. To provide unlimited, uninterrupted and content-rich services to these devices, the 5th Generation (5G) of network technology is emerged. 5G network can provide better Quality of Service (QoS) along with higher data rates than 4G network and have least latency. The paper appraisals various generations of wireless networks. Furthermore, it explores various challenges in implementation of 5G network and application areas of 5G network

The fifth generation (5G) network is expected to be flexible to satisfy quality of service (QoS) requirements, and the software-defined network (SDN) with network slicing will be a good approach for admission control. In this paper, the authors present and compare two fuzzy-based schemes to evaluate the QoS (FSQoS). They call these schemes FSQoS1 and FSQoS2. The FSQoS1 considers three parameters: slice throughput (ST), slice delay (SD), and slice loss (SL). In FSQoS2, they consider as an additional parameter the slice reliability (SR). So, FSQoS2 has four input parameters. They carried out simulations for evaluating the performance of the proposed schemes. From simulation results, they conclude that the considered parameters have different effects on the QoS performance. The FSQoS2 is more complex than FSQoS1, but it has a better performance for evaluating QoS. When ST and SR are increasing, the QoS parameter is increased. But, when SD and SL are increasing, the QoS is decreased. When ST is 0.1, SD is 0.1, SL is 0.1, and the QoS is increased by 32.02% when SR is increased from 0.3 to 0.8.

In order to study the role of English situational teaching in higher vocational colleges, based on information technology and artificial intelligence, this research combines with the needs of English teaching to construct a English situation teaching in higher vocational colleges with the support of 5G network technology and artificial intelligence. Moreover, this research builds a data processing model based on the system architecture diagram of cache placement, uses storage space and computing resources to save more backhaul link bandwidth, and adopts the “many to many” algorithm extended by the “one to many” algorithm, and uses the on-demand method to obtain scenario teaching data from the cloud. In addition, this research constructs the intermediate link of data processing, and uses 5G network transmission to solve the problem of data transmission speed. Finally, this study uses a controlled experiment to evaluate the effectiveness of the artificial intelligence teaching model constructed in this study. The research shows that the English situation teaching method based on 5G network technology and artificial intelligence in vocational colleges has a certain effect and can effectively improve the English scores of vocational college students.

5G is the next step in the evolution of mobile communication. The evolving 5G cellular wireless networks are envisioned to provide higher data rates, enhanced end-user quality-of-experience (QoE), reduced end-to-end latency, and lower energy consumption. Device to device (D2D) is one of the key technologies provided to enhance 5G performance. Direct communication between two devices without involvement of any central point (i.e., base station) is defined as device to device (D2D) communication. It is a recommended technique to enhance the network performance of 5G in terms of energy efficiency, throughput, latency, and spectrum utilization. In this chapter, the authors provide a detailed survey on the integration of D2D communication into cellular network especially 5G network. The survey highlights the potential advantages; classifications and application for D2D technology have been indicated. Main D2D standards have been presented. Finally, the chapter addresses main topics that could be related to D2D and indicates all major possible challenges that face most researchers.

Multi-connectivity (MC) is one of the most important features to be introduced in 5G networks, allowing User Equipment (UE) to simultaneously aggregate radio resources from several network nodes to enhance both data rates and reliability. Thus, this feature enables a further flexibility in the allocation of resources to the UEs in order to fulfil the users’ requirements in more complex 5G scenarios. This paper takes advantage of this wide flexibility to present a traffic steering approach that determines the amount of traffic to be held by each of the serving nodes in a multi-connectivity scenario. In this sense, the proposed technique is based on network and UE performance metrics in order to maximize the users’ perceived quality of experience (QoE) for enhanced Mobile Broadband (eMBB) services. It is then compared with a homogeneous traffic split among the serving nodes, with a single-connectivity approach and with state-of-the-art solutions. The benefits are analysed in terms of throughput and Mean Opinion Score (MOS), which is the main QoE metric. The analysis shows that a noticeable UE throughput improvement is reached when the proposed traffic steering method is applied. Consequently, this enhancement is noticed in the users’ QoE, which can lead to a reduction of operating expenses (OPEX) of the network.

The article defines the features of the development of MIMO technology in 5G networks and considers their application in practice. The data currently available on the use of MIMO technology in 5G networks are also presented. The problems of the implementation of MIMO technology and their solution are considered. The role of this technology in the future of wireless communications is determined. The increasing pace of telecommunications development and the radical changes in the needs and expectations of subscribers of cellular networks again and again dictate development with the subsequent change of technological partners. Mobile devices have ceased to be just a means of communication, they have become a smart tool for information consumption, expanding human capabilities. Processes, such as the ubiquity of smartphones Вестник ГГНТУ. Технические науки, том XV, 4 (18), 2019 26 and tablets, the development of cloud services and social networks, have dramatically changed user habits and behavior. Today, mobile subscribers expect the same, if not more, capabilities from wireless networks as from wired Internet. The main income of mobile operators is increasingly coming from voice services to data services.
