scholarly journals A Pilot Research on the Intention to Engage in Digital Piracy of Movies in Kerala

Digital Piracy is steadily growing issue due to the rapid advancement of technology. The Indian film industry is plagued by this issue for many years. This study strives to understand the intention of people who indulge in digital piracy of movies using the theory of planned behavior. It tries to enhance the model by including other antecedents such as moral judgment and self control. A sample of 70 people was selected and Exploratory Factor Analysis and multiple regression was done. It was determined that attitude and self-efficacy had a highly significant relationship with intention to engage in digital piracy of movies. Also Moral judgment was added to the model of theory of planned behavior and a final conceptual model was created.

The purpose of this paper is to determine the intention of consumer in choosing halal products, particularly for food products. The three main elements in the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) consisting of attitude, subjective norm, and perceived behavioral control is connected to the intention to consume halal products, particularly halal food. This study refers to the two studies both in the Malaysian context. This is a survey-based research. It used a questionnaire for collecting the data taken from  151 active students of Faculty of Economics and Business in Unpad who participated as the respondents in this research. The data were analysed using a descriptive statistics, correlation, chi-square. and multiple regression. The findings show that the three main elements have a significance effect on the intention. This study is unique since it was conducted in Indonesia’s context and the results is slightly different from the findings of the previous one.

Background: The evidence suggests nutrition style as a key determinant of health. On the other hand, nutrition literacy is a key determinant of nutrition decisions and behaviors. This study aimed to develop and validate an inventory in order to predict nutrition literacy promoting behavior based on the theory of planned behavior (TPB) in the youth. Methods: In this cross-sectional study, 203 students (100 females and 103 males) were selected using the randomized cluster method from dormitories in Shiraz University of Medical Sciences. They were supposed to complete Nutrition Literacy Promoting Behavior based on TPB (TPB-NLPB) questionnaire. The tool was developed using relevant scientific literature and its validity was confirmed by the experts’ panel (n = 6). The instrument includes four subscales: attitude toward behavior, subjective norm, perceived behavioral control, and behavioral intention. The reliability and validity of the instrument were assessed by exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis and Cronbach’s alpha coefficient. Results: The coefficients of Cronbach’s alpha (α = 0.87), Guttmann method (λ1 = 0.84 to λ6 = 0.91), and convergent validity (0.74) were estimated (P < 0.01). The exploratory factor analysis demonstrated five factors, which clarified 64.91% of the scale’s variance. Second-order confirmatory factor analysis pointed out that the factor was well matched up onto the principal factor. Consequently, the five-factor model was appropriate for the data using fit index techniques for adjusting the scale. Conclusions: The results confirmed the well-adjusted reliability and psychometric properties of the TPB-NLPB and its usefulness for the relevant studies.

This study aims to analyze and describe the factors that influence Turkish computer users’ behaviors related to digital piracy in the context of the theory of planned behavior and ethical models. Relational research model was used to reveal the relationship between variables. Structured questionnaires were used for obtaining data and research units were easily sampled. Both single and multi-variabe statistical analysis methods were used while analysing research data and after all structural equilibrium model and path analyses were carried out for testing the hypotheses. While habit the additional factor of the model and the perceived behavioral control factor does not affect the behavior of the individual; attitude and subjective norm factors have influence on intention. Also, intention factor affects the behaviors of the individual for digital piracy as expected. In the context of general ethical theory, perceived benefit factor forming the teleological ethics does not affect the intention of the individual but it affects the attitude with the perceived risk factor. It is also accepted that the moral obligation and justice factors forming the deontological ethics affect the subjective norm and the moral obligation affects the intention of the individual on the digital piracy.

This study discusses an interactive model that integrates behaviour theory with ethical theory to determine individual behaviour towards digital piracy. This study uses a quantitative approach by testing assumptions using the Structural Equation Model (SEM) assisted using the AMOS 4.0 application program. The results showed that the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) and the theory of marketing ethics (HV theory) could be used to predict the intention to commit digital piracy. Digital piracy intentions are not influenced by TPB's arbitrary rules, while digital piracy expectations and behaviour management significantly impact digital piracy intentions. Moral obligations and perceived benefits directly influence digital piracy. Moral obligation has clear negative effects, whereas perceived benefits positively impact piracy. Moral obligation hurts subjective value. Meanwhile, the perceived dangers often undermine individual attitudes towards digital piracy. The benefits people experience influence attitudes to digital piracy. This habit has had a dramatic and positive impact on digital piracy.

The lifestyle of Indonesian people who are very consumptive makes it difficult for people to invest. This can be shown in the number of capital market investors in Indonesia which is only 0.61% of the total population. The low level of financial literacy in Indonesia is one factor. Many people do not understand finance so they cannot manage finances properly. In this study, we look for 130 respondents who are college students to find out how financial socialization and financial experience influence on investment intention through financial literacy. The theory used in this research is theory of planned behavior and social learning theory. In this study, financial literacy can only mediate the financial experience of investment intention. The results of this study are in accordance with the theory of planned behavior in which one of the elements is perceived behavioral control with self-control factors originating from within, namely experience so that the financial experience is expected to generate interest in investing.

This study aimed to explore the formation process of employees’ intentions to leave viewed by Planned Behavior Theory during the Covid-19 Pandemic and to determine the factors that influence the formation of employees’ intentions to leave. The intention to leave work is how much encouragement an employee has to leave the company. Based on theory of planned behavior, intention was formed by indirect belief factor and direct belief factor. The components of indirect belief were behavioral belief, normative belief, and control belief. The components of direct belief were attitudes toward behavior, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control. The research method used was mixed method design. This research consisted of 2 stages research. First study (study 1) aimed to determine the subject's understanding toward components of indirect belief that contributed to form intention. Second study (study 2) aimed to test the measurement model through Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) and structural model theory of planned behavior in the form of a Goodness of Fit test. The measurement used was the ‘Lisrel’ program. The results showed that work leave intentions were influenced by attitudes toward behavior, subjective norms and behavior control. The dominant predictor of intention to leave was subjective norms. Tahap kedua (studi 2) bertujuan untuk menguji model pengukuran melalui Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) dan uji model struktural theory of planned behavior berupa uji kecocokan model (Goodness of Fit).

This chapter investigates how the three referent groups (peers, parent, media) of subjective norms (SN) influence the intention of millennials to adopt e-wallets. This study is supported by the theory of planned behavior (TPB) and stimulus-organism-response (SOR) framework. A total of 215 usable responses were obtained and analyzed using SPSS 25 and SmartPLS 3.2.6. The data is collected using a self-administered survey (Lancaster Qualtrics) and distributed randomly using the snowball sampling technique. The results indicate that the decomposition of SN has a significant relationship towards the intention of millennials to adopt e-wallets. This chapter also provides useful insights on what are the other factors that would build the intention of millennials towards the usage of e-wallets. Moreover, TPB along with the SOR framework supports the findings and provides better credibility to this study. This chapter concludes that brands should leverage more capital on media advertisements rather than peer referrals if they want to capture a larger market.

Only a small percentage of young people aged 18 to 20 years use condoms regularly. Thus, the younger population has an increased risk of contracting sexually transmitted diseases. This study examines the underlying determinants of condom use among soldiers based on the theory of planned behavior as well as the influence of soldiers’ social circumstances and prior sexual experience. A correlational design using an exploratory survey method was used. Participants were sampled in a convenience sample of 113 male soldiers from the Israel defense forces. A total of 70.1% of soldiers use condoms in their first sexual experience, however, this percentage subsequently decreases. The study indicates that soldiers are not familiar with the risks of frequent oral and anal sex. Behavioral intentions and self-control are significant predictors of condom use. Condom use among soldiers from one-parent families was lower than among soldiers from two-parent families. The theory of planned behavior seems to be a helpful method of predicting condom use among soldiers. Accordingly, efforts should be channeled at attempts to generate changes in soldiers’ views of condom use, intensifying normative pressures operated by their social milieu, and increasing their self-control in the use of condoms.
