The overhaul potential is an effective mathematical model for evaluating organizational and technological solutions when planning for an overhaul of apartment buildings. The purpose of the study is to create a tool that would allow using the potential of the overhaul of tenants of an apartment building. The difficulty of using the potential of overhaul is the need to transform the qualitative characteristics of a dwelling house before the overhaul will be carried out in quantitative terms. But even after obtaining the value of the overhaul potential, it is necessary to obtain an interpretation of the obtained quantitative indicators in qualitative characteristics. To describe the object in which the overhaul is planned, taking into account all the parameters that may affect the choice of work in quantitative terms, it is necessary to form an organizational and technological model of a residential building in which an overhaul is planned. In turn, in order to interpret the obtained quantitative value of the potential, it is necessary to form a private potential scale.

The reconstruction of balconies and loggias is a key element of the renovation of apartment buildings. Artificial light will never replace natural light. Every day, one must make full use of the potential of daylight and enjoy an advantage—free-of-charge natural light entering the interior. When renovating balconies, people often change the character of this protruding structure from a façade to a loggia. This is also the subject of this paper. For the evaluation of the daylighting conditions prevailing in residential building, the Daylight Factor (DF) was considered as the parameter for indicating the quantity of admitted daylight. The DF values and illuminance—CIE overcast sky were calculated using DIALux 9.1 software. The aim of the paper is to compare two variants of the level of daylight in the rooms of the residential building. One option to bring in even more natural light than a window is a variant with balconies. Loggias are satisfactory in terms of static and thermal technology, but daylight conditions are deteriorating. The article provides an insight into the solution of the renovation of balconies and loggias in a specific apartment building. The result shows their influence on changes in the conditions of natural daylight in the interior of two selected rooms.

Purpose is an establishment of efficient parameters of a multi-section man-made deposit at the pulp clays storage on the surface of internal pit dumps during the development of placer deposits. The analytical research method was used to establish the main parameters of man-made deposits sections depending on their width and depth. A graphical research method was used to establish the downtime duration between formation of the first and second sections of the man-made deposit. It is established that division of the man-made deposit into five sections parallel to the mining front reduces time period till start of its operation from 8 to 5 years for it thickness 10 m and from 7 to 5 years at thickness 20 m. However, a significant disadvantage is the increassd number of sections in the man-made deposit from 2 to 5 is an increase in the volume of construction work from 0.27 to 1.11 million m3 at thickness 10 m, and from 0.53 to 2.15 million m3 at thickness 20 m, which confirms the necessity to find an effective number of sections in the man-made deposit and their parameters. The dependence between beginning of the works on filling the man-made deposit and the width of its first section delays start of the filling works, but too small width causes downtime at transiting from the first section to the second one. Efficient width of the man-made deposit first section is established, in which downtime is reduced from 7 years to 5.8 years, and volume of raw materials located outside the pit is reduced by 0.1 - 0.5 million m3 depending on the width of the first section. A method is proposed for determining an effective width of the first section in a two-section man-caused deposit, in which occurs while filling the sections. It is established that effective width of the first section oin the two-section man-made deposit with thickness of 10 m and with parameters of a typical pit development at mining of titanium-zirconium deposit is 241 m.

Korea relies significantly on imported fossil fuels to meet its energy needs. Moreover, about 50% of Korean residential buildings are apartment complexes. In this paper, the use of distributed generation (DG) technologies to serve the energy requirements for a typical Korean apartment complex is explored to reduce Korea’s dependence on fossil fuel and CO2 emissions. In particular, a series of sensitivity analyses is conducted using detailed simulation tools to determine the cost-effectiveness of DG systems to meet electrical and thermal loads of an apartment building in Daegu, Korea. The DG systems considered in the analysis include Photovoltaic (PV), Wind turbine, Microturbine, and Fuel Cell. The apartment complex is connected to the utility grid that with electricity typically generated using fossil fuels. It is found that a combination of the grid and Fuel Cell is the most cost effective approach to meet the electrical and thermal loads of the complex residential building with a cost of energy reduction of 12% compared to the grid only option.

This original conference topic is devoted to one of the actual problems concerning the current state of facades on apartment buildings – videoecology. Often the terrain dictates its conditions for the creation of banal solutions of facade forms; therefore, this paper focuses on what should be the new facade design that makes a person integrate into the new environment, become interested in this environment. The main purpose of this paper is to determine the method of forming a facade on the principle of variability, which involves in the architectural organization of the residential building facade functional and constructive variability with architectural and spatial solutions of this building. Research proposals in the paper are considered on the example of a competition project of a residential building in the historical centre of Subotica city, Serbia.

Abstract: Infill walls are inevitable components of any structure to create dispassion between interior space and external condition. In general, there are some prevalent openings inside the infill walls because of practical needs, architectural observations or aesthetic inspections. In current design practice, strength and inflexibility contribution of infill walls aren't thought of. However, the presence of infill walls may impact the seismic reaction of structures exposed to earthquake loads and cause a conduct which is not the same as that estimated for a bare frame. Additionally, partial openings inside infill walls are significant parameter prompting the seismic behaviour of infilled frames in this manner retreating lateral stiffness and strength. In this study is proposed to compare various models of buildings considering the openings (10% of surface area) at different locations in the infill walls for the seismic behaviour. A G+13 residential building is considered in Zone III with soil type II and analysis is carried out by Response Spectrum Method. Various parameters are considered such as Natural Time period, Base shear, Storey displacement, Storey drift and Storey stiffness were studied. The comparative study could simplify designers and code developers in selecting and recommending appropriate analytical models for estimating strength, stiffness, failure modes and other properties of infill frames with openings. Keywords: Residential Building, Openings Infill Wall, ETAB Software, Natural Time Period, Base Shear, Storey Shear, Storey Displacement, Storey Drift, Storey Stiffness.
