USE OF SMARTPHONE AMONG ANAESTHESIOLOGIST DURING ANAESTHESIA INTERFERES WITH PATIENT CARE: A SURVEY

Introduction: Usage of smart phones have become an integral part of the professional and personal lives of the population worldwide. Though the usage of smart phones applications has increased the efciency in the workplace, it can also be a signicant distraction to the patient care. Objective: The objective of this study is to determine whether the use of smart phone among anesthetists during patient care improves or provides distraction in patient care. Results: The present study has shown that the prevalence of smart phone usage was 85.7%. The purpose of smart phone usage in increasing order of their frequency was internet surng, phone calls, Messaging and usage of social media. Only 33.3% of the hospitals in which the study participants work had smart phone usage restriction inside the operation theatre and 27.6% had restriction except for communications. Conclusion: Smartphone usage result in increased reaction time, decreased focus and reduced behavioural performance during cognitive tasks. Hence its usage has to be strictly needed basis during the intraoperative period.

Budget 4G smart phones coupled with affordable plans, can very well drive 4G growth in India.

Provision of acute liaison in-patient neurology reduces demand on neurology out patient services, reduces unnecessary investigations and use of medical beds by patients waiting on in-patient neurology review and allows speedier access to necessary neurological services for those with a neurological illness.The pressure on acute neurology beds at QEUH Glasgow is immense and there is considerable delay in patients waiting for admission to the ward. An audit of the acute on call service in mid 2015 showed a 100% increase in the number of phone calls received by the on call registrar when compared to a similar audit in 2008. The number of requests for ward visiting to review medical inpatients at the Queen Elizabeth University hospital increased by more than 100% over the previous year.In June 2016 an Acute Neurology rota was introduced whereby a Consultant Neurologist supervised and delivered patient care for the acute neurology wards, referrals from medical wards and acute receiving, as well as twice a week acute neurology clinics. This has led to a significantly improved care for patients referred with neurological problems as perceived by trainees, consultants and referring medical physicians, as evident on a survey carried out in 2017.

With the rapid development of smart-phone applications, how to make the ordering process via smart-phones more convenient and intelligent has become a hotspot. This paper puts forward a method of restaurant dish recommendation relying on position information and association rules. In addition, this paper has designed and developed a restaurant recommendation system based on mobile phone. The system would fetch the real-time location information via smart-phones, and provide customers personalized restaurant and dish recommendation service. According to the related applications, this system can successfully recommend the related restaurants and food information to customers.

A cross-sectional study was conducted in March 2016 to assess the need of mobile phone technologies for health surveillance and interventions in Benin. Questionnaires were administered to 130 individuals comprising 25 medical professionals, 33 veterinarians, and 72 respondents from the public. All respondents possess cell phones and 75%, 84%, and 100% of the public, medical professionals, and veterinarians, respectively, generally use them for medical purposes. 75% of respondents including 68% of medics, 84.8% of veterinarians, and 72.2% of the public acknowledged that the current surveillance systems are ineffective and do not capture and share real-time information. More than 92% of the all respondents confirmed that mobile phones have the potential to improve health surveillance in the country. All respondents reported adhering to a nascent project of mobile phone-based health surveillance and confirmed that there is no existing similar approach in the country. The most preferred methods by all respondents for effective implementation of such platform are phone calls (96.92%) followed by SMS (49.23%) and smart phone digital forms (41.53%). This study revealed urgent needs of mobile phone technologies for health surveillance and interventions in Benin for real-time surveillance and efficient disease prevention.

In India we live in a society where men and women have equal rights but as far as it goes these don’t hold up in real life scenarios and practical situations for women. Despite having all these laws and regulations to protect the rights of a woman, they still face problems. Women have grown powerful and are conquering our world’s greatest positions/frontiers but they face issues with our society’s narrow-minded behavior. Every third woman faces physical abuse/harassment in this world. Women Safety is a matter of concern and a smart phone can be used efficiently for personal security and other protection purposes. The existing apps need the user to interact with the interface and follow a sequence of steps to make them work. We are going to solve it by eliminating the user interaction with the app by providing an instant solution.

SummaryFive hundred and ten patients receiving long-term in-patient care for schizophrenia were examined in terms of their current mental state, cognitive functioning, neurological status and behavioural performance. The abnormalities of these areas of their present state were related to historical factors, personal details, the features of the illness at its worst and physical treatment received. Significant associations between the present state and historical factors were few and mainly concerned time and the features of the illness at its worst. Current abnormalities were not related to past physical treatment, but highly significant correlations were found between the impairments of the four areas of the present state. It is concluded that these impairments are likely to be an integral part of the disease.

Learning media are widely circulated in the school environment, especially Madrasah Tsanawiyah is a native-shaped media for a particular type of smart phone. There is a problem if there are learners who use different types of smart phones of different types of OS, brand, type, and screen size. This work proposed a hybrid application technology to design the learning media so that it can be accessed by various types of smart phones. Rational Unified Process (RUP) implementing as the main framework. The Fisher Yates Shuffle algorithm applied to the training module and exam to display the sequence of questions and random answer options.

Background. After-hours telephone calls are a stressful and frustrating aspect of pediatric practice. At the request of private practice pediatricians in Denver, a metropolitan area-wide system was created to manage after-hours pediatric telephone calls and after-hours patient care. This system, the After-Hours Program (AHP), uses specially trained pediatric nurses with standardized protocols to provide after-hours telephone triage and advice for the patients of 92 Denver pediatricians, representing 56 practices. Objectives. This report describes the AHP, presents data from 4 years' experience with the program, and describes results of our evaluation of the following aspects of the program: subscribing physician satisfaction, parent satisfaction, the accuracy and appropriateness of telephone triage, and program costs. Methods. After-Hours Program records (including quality assurance data) for all 4 years of operation were retrospectively reviewed, tabulated, and analyzed. The results of two subscribing physician surveys and one parent caller satisfaction survey are presented. A retrospective review of after-hours patient care encounter forms assessed the necessity for after-hours visits triaged by the AHP. An analysis of the total cost of this program to 10 randomly selected subscribing physicians was conducted using current AHP data and a survey of the 10 physicians. Results. In 4 years, 107 938 calls have been successfully managed without an adverse clinical outcome. Minor errors in using protocols occurred in one call out of 1450 after-hours calls. After-hours phone calls necessitated an after-hours patient visit 20% of the time and generated one after-hours hospital admission out of every 88 calls. Just over half of the patients were managed with home care advice only, and 28% were given home care advice after-hours and seen the next day in the primary physician's office. Of all patients directed by the telephone triage nurses to be seen after hours, 78% were determined to have a condition necessitating after-hours care. Data are presented regarding call volumes by time of day, day of week, patient age, and patient's initial complaint. The 6 most common complaints accounted for more than one half of the calls, and 38 complaints accounted for more than 95% of all after-hours calls. Utilization by subscribing physicians is described. Satisfaction among subscribing pediatricians was 100%, and among parents was 96% to 99% on a variety of issues. The total cost to participating Denver pediatricians (which includes revenues "given up" as a result of not seeing patients after hours) ranged from 1% to 12% of their annual net income, depending on a variety of factors. Conclusions. Large-scale after-hours telephone coverage systems can be effective and well-received by patients, parents, and primary physicians. Data presented in this report can assist in planning the training of personnel who provide after-hours telephone advice and triage. Controversies associated with this type of program are discussed. Suggestions are made regarding the direction of future programs and research.

Circular economy is a global economic model that focuses to transform linear consumption in a circular system by minimizing waste and preserving the cost of materials. Refurbishment can be useful to recover value from old products and to minimize waste. Based on the insights from literature, a deductive research approach has been used to examine consumer understanding about refurbished smart phone and their purchase intention. A survey based on barriers, perceived risk, and benefits associated with refurbished phones was conducted. Multiple analyses of variance were employed to identify the effect of demographic parameters on refurbishing dimensions. Multiple regression was used to identify prominent predictors in determining purchase intention towards refurbished products. The study demonstrates a fine level of awareness among people about refurbished phone, and they link it to environmental benefits. A major concern among consumers was performance issue and financial risk involved in purchasing refurbished smart phones. Financial benefits are key aspects behind promoting refurbished.
